Anyway before I get to any of those books I just got I'm finally gonna start the second book in Julie E. Czerneda's Species Imperative trilogy and boy howdy am I excited.

#elevator pitch is that it's sorta like mass effect #except instead of an experienced space marine the main character is a biologist who's never left earth #and even though there's a whole galactic community and everything she just wants to hang out and study salmon in the pnw #but then. she's dragged into a noir mystery that only a biologist can solve that will take her across the stars for the first time #and the scope jumps the fuck up in scale #also she's got an alien buddy who is just. intensely annoying because there's a fuckton of communication barriers #and I find the way the book deals with that very interesting and satisfying
