Experience this morning:
I went to ask where the bathroom in this restaurant was
It is upstairs (?)
Their elevator is not working
Ok, I won't go right now thank you
After my food is served they come over and say:
Ok, we've found someone who can carry you up to the bathroom (???)
I say no thank you that is not safe for me (or anyone?????)
They apologize a bunch and comp my meal
Later I was talking to my partner about it and realized that I was imagining they would carry me without my wheelchair (feasible but dangerous and very uncomfortable and awkward to boot) and my partner said, "oh, I thought they meant carrying you IN your wheelchair" (folding wheelchair, SO much more dangerous and not very feasible without a very large stairwell), which blew my mind. We will never know but apparently to an abled perspective it is not immediately obvious that lifting someone in their wheelchair is very dangerous and shouldn't be attempted.
#so baffling to me#no i do not want to be lifted by strangers who are not trained in carrying humans and i don't want to be touched and i appreciate the effort#but oh my god a world of no.#i had a cardiologist recheck this morning which was basically just. yeah your heart's fine and i don't know what's wrong with you what do u#want me to do about it. which is understandable but getting very frustrating. he agreed to try a medication tho wow#also repeated his referral to functional neurology but when i was like 'oh yeah i looked into that and it didn't seem super evidence based'#he was instantly like. oh yeah no definitely. but they say they'll treat POTS.#why are you referring me to them if you also think they are quacks.#they are quacks who might prescribe me fluids tho so possibly useful quacks.#anyway this guy clearly knows nothing about pots (regardless of whether that's what i have or not) and nothing else he said was helpful#but I've got an alpha 1 agonist on the way so there's that#also we spent the rest of the day at the zoo and it was so sunny and cold and it was so fun#and now i am very tired and symptomatic but still pretty happy
