it is 4am or maybe it's 5 who fucking knows but I was sifting through some cool toa posts (and today's song fixation happened to be Arcade bc I watched some really cool vid edits) (you know the one that goes "loving you is a losing game") and I got a galaxy brain idea

what if: a Wandavision AU for Apollo

it's a sitcom thing(?) starring Lester! the single dad(?), his tiny girl-child-bestie(?), and his weird-ass relatives who barge into his life being all "you haven't come to thanksgiving dinner" except they all seem be calling him by the nickname of a greek god?? wut??

old-fashioned laugh track comedy with annoying cousins, an annoying sister, the mother who lives far away, a creepy stepmother and a deadbeat bio dad plus the really weird aunts and uncles (it's a whole extended family extravaganza)

obviously the fic would be 9 chapters long (imitating Wandavision), and the Big Bad would be revealed as the lil garden snake (it's Python, the dick) who turned out to have trapped a god in an illusion world and was feeding him the fantasy that he wasn't a god who had colossally messed up with people he loved

(HOLY SHIT APOLLO IS PROBABLY DATING HYACINTHUS IN THIS HYPOTHETICAL SHOW) (tv show logic says he got divorced w/Daphne?) (of course they're both illusions with whom Apollo gets to have some heartfelt conversations and closure)

this is where the question of Who Is Real in this Dreamscape World arises: is Meg real? is Will? the other kids? (I think the gods might be fake, except for Artemis, who may have come to check on him when he went incognito?)

(FUCK JASON IS PROBABLY HERE FUCK FUCK THAT ACTUALLY DRAWS IN A LOT MORE CHARACTERS THAN I ANTICIPATED) (fuck are the other gods actually here, in tiny parts of themselves? do they also enjoy forgetting that they're gods too?)

basically Lester has to make peace with himself and his past, tell specific members of his illusion-godly-family to fuck off, have some heartwrenching conversations with the dead people in the illusions, then drop-kick Python into oblivion because Apollo is Ready to Live in the Real World and What Is Grief If Not Love Persevering, He Has People Left to Love (Wanda deserved better)

this is an incomprehensible post and I apologize to anyone who has to read this but *gestures* A Potential WIP for my procrastinating, multi-WIP self? (I need to finish my WIPs man)

EDIT: I just realized that if this is an illusion world where you can hypothetically live with the dead, there are multiple pjo/hoo characters who will be signing themselves the fuck up (but that makes things so much more Complicated ahhh)

(Nico is definitely getting Bianca) (Leo would have his mother and best friend back) (I dunno is Annabeth hanging out with Luke? is Thalia inseparable from Jason? are they a posse? are we doing full opposite land? Percy and Annabeth have got a big friend named Bob) (does Meg have her father and does it weird her out enough that she realizes this world is an illusion)

(maybe everyone except for Meg are just happy illusions that Lester dreamed up--his desire to allow happy moments for his friends) (yeah that feels accurate)
