okay so I’m searching for a part time or full time job alongside my freelance stuff mostly because I wanna move out soon (living alone in gdansk made me realize I Cannot live with my parents anymore even though I love them because I need the independence and solitude) but my friend now asked me if I want to take over her apartment when she moves in with her bf!!! and idk if I’ll still need a job to get it or if I can move in anyway, because I definitely can survive for a couple of months on savings + my freelance business if I haven’t found anything by then but idk if that’s “smart” or if I should wait??

how do you factor brushing your teeth into the "letting yourself fall asleep while doing stuff" strategy?
Well let's preface this with the fact that I'm kind of a disaster:
I brush my teeth in the morning.
Sometimes I'll brush my teeth right after dinner (and I'm usually finishing dinner at like 10pm) and then I'll be up for another few hours and I just. Like. Try not to sweat it? I probably brush my teeth around 10-12 times a week, which is less than the recommended twice a day but honestly for me is a pretty significant improvement over where I was in, like, 2013. Getting to daily tooth brushing was a significant achievement that I had to start using an activity tracking app for. Washing my face daily is still a struggle. I am *not* great at being what a lot of people seem to consider "normal" or "functional" but I'm getting by and I'm getting better.
Ideally in a perfect world where brushing my teeth wasn't going to mean that I'd be awake for another three hours I'd brush my teeth right before tucking myself into bed in my PJs with the lights off.
But it *is* going to mean that so I brush my teeth and floss when it's not going to impact that and fall asleep in a bright room with my glasses and jeans on.
And TBH it's working out. I've got pretty fucky teeth anyway (double row of wisdom teeth, teeth when i was a couple weeks old, had all my adult teeth by the time I was seven, have had something like eight root canals and have a shitload of crowns) so it's hard to say if this has had an impact on my dental health (had a lot of those crowns and root canals when I was brushing and flossing twice daily because my parents made me as a kid) but since my last "i haven't been to the dentist in nine years and my damaged tooth broke in half during the first month of covid" fiasco I've been brushing every morning and flossing mostly every morning and getting in extra brushing and flossing when I can, I haven't had any further cavities or other issues past treating what nine years of neglect did (it's been 3 years of being pretty okay and they don't tell me that i need to floss more at the dentist so i consider that a success).
At one point a dentist told me that plaque buildup starts after about 24 hours of the bacteria in your mouth being undisturbed and that the 2x daily recommendation is to make sure you don't go 24 hours without shaking the little fuckers up. I don't actually know if that's accurate, but it has helped me to be more regular about brushing my teeth (look; depression and adhd is a bad combo and there were some rough years there) and also helped me to be more regular about brushing my dog's teeth.
So anyway please don't follow my example please do what your dentist tells you to do but also yeah if you're having sleep issues it may be more important for you to get sleep than to get up and brush your teeth right away. Brush in the mornings for sure, try to do it every day, use a toothpaste with fluoride and floss or use a waterpik to get below the gumline; then try to get in another brushing when you can, ideally at least one other time a day.
But you don't have to brush exactly twelve hours apart or right before you go to bed, and if you're eating and drinking after you brush your teeth but before you go to bed it isn't ideal but it also isn't a disaster.

27
June 12th 2018 was my 27th birthday.
Tumblr media
Here are 27 things I feel like I have learnt about life so far:
1. Don’t Argue With Stupid People.
You get nowhere. It’s like playing scrabble with a dog, no matter how well you play, the dog will end up shitting on the board and walking away like he won anyway.
2. Eat The Damn Cake.
Yes I know that eating right and exercise is important for your health, but if you are in the vicinity of a cake or delicious bite of something, just eat it.
3. Working Is A Part Of Life, Not The Entirety Of Life.
Unless you adore what you do for a living and it is your pasison and life’s mission, take a deep breath and don’t take it all so seriously. At the end of the day, a job is to pay the bills and have pocket money to go and enjoy yourself when you’re not working. Unless you are genuinely passionate about your career, don’t sweat it. Don’t break your back worrying about a job that would replace you within a week if you dropped dead.
4. Don’t Take Anything Seriously, Seriously.
Unless you are performing open heart surgery or have the cure for cancer in your back pocket, lighten the fuck up. No matter what your job is, ask yourself if it will matter in 100 years? If not, giggle and let it go. The world won’t stop spinning if you miss a deadline or make a mistake. Breathe. It’s all good.
5. Ignorance Is A Choice.
Yes. It’s 2018. There is no excuse for ignorance or stupidity when we have more information on our phones than a public library. If you don’t understand something, research it. Pick up a book, scan the internet, question everything, especially the news. Be curious, ask questions and most of all, don’t be lazy. Educate yourself so the world can be full of kinder, more worldly individuals who know what they are talking about.
6. Throw Away Anything You Thought You Knew That Doesn’t Sit Well With Your Values.
We grow up in a society that feeds us garbage from the moment we enter the world. Boys are taught to be one way and girls are taught to be another. It’s a system that hasn’t changed in hundreds of years because society wants us to constantly keep within the mold. Screw that. Break the mold and let people be who they want to be. Go after a job you want, not what society wants for you. Travel, see the world, stop worrying about what everyone else is doing and go after the stuff that means something to you.
7. Laugh At Every Chance You Get.
Nothing beats a good belly laugh. Plus, it’s also extremely healthy. Laugh as often as you can. This goes straight back to the not taking anything seriously thing. Giggle more. It works wonders for the soul.
8. Get A Hobby.
The past year I have picked up the piano again (not literally 'picked it up', obviously, but started learning again), attempted to learn Spanish, set a goal of reading a book a fortnight (up to book 25) and started working out a minimum of three times a week. Each year older I start realising how quickly time goes and how many amazing things are at my disposal to learn or try.
9. Read The News, Then Read It Again, And Then Research Some More.
Don't take anything at face value. Just because the news tells you one thing, don't take it as gospel. These news shows are run by multibillionaire white men and corporations with agendas. Don't take it at face value. Look in to things. Read as much as you can and become your own private investigator for the truth. Just because a news show says something, doesn't make it fact.
10. Read More.
Nothing opens up the heart and mind more than a good book. The excuse of not having enough time to read doesn't cut it. Instead of watching an hour of Netflix, take an hour to open a good book. It's good for the soul. Trust me.
11. Get A Pet.
YASSSSSSS. Get a dog. Then get another dog. Then when you think you simply can't handle the amount of snuggles you are getting, get another dog!! In all seriousness, dogs are extremely good for your health. They reduce stress and anxiety, boost happiness and are wonderful snuggle buddies. Adopt don't shop! There are plenty of rescue animals in need of good homes.
12. Sometimes People Hurt You. It Sucks.
Yes. Sometimes the people you never in a bazillion years thought could hurt you, will hurt you terribly. I had an experience in recent years with extended family that completely shifted my entire outlook on people in general. Sadly, some of the people you think you know are far from what you think. It sucks, yes, but once you acknowledge it, it slowly stops hurting. You can move on with your life when you realise that sometimes a wake-up call is all you need to realise that you're better off without certain people in your life. And that's totally ok.
13. Log Off. Often.
The age of social media is WONDERFUL for so many reasons. Keeping in contact with people, viewing beautiful content, learning things with a click and the hours and hours of streamable content are all fantastic reasons to use social media. But on the flip side, it can also be an information overload and I highly advise switching off, taking a bath and leaving your phone somewhere away from you for a few hours. It can't be healthy getting a constant stream of negative news 24/7. So unplug. Those cute puppy pics will be there when you get back.
14. Exercise.
I know, I know, YUCK. Exercise isn't the most fun of activities, and I am the first to admit that whenever I heard someone say "but the endorphins are good for your happiness levels" I'd roll my eyes so far back in my head I could see my brain. But it's completely and utterly true. Just a 40 minute run 3 times a week has improved my mood ten fold. I've suffered with depression, anxiety and addiction for years, but exercise allows me to completely refresh and enjoy the day on a belly full of endorphins. Do it for the feeling you get, not to achieve some unattainable body. It works a treat. Trust me.
15. Napping Is AMAZING.
Yes. Napping is one of the best damn things to do. Nothing beats an afternoon nap. It refreshes you for the rest of the day and is a great way to reboot the system. Don't let people tell you otherwise. It's bloody fantastic.
16. Journal.
I've written a journal since I was ten years old and looking back on all the adventures, worries, achievements and memories throughout the years is something I cherish so incredibly much. Studies have shown that journalling is really healthy for the mind and soul. Grab a notebook and get doodling.
17. Take Photos.
If taking selfies is your thang, go for it. If taking pictures of trees, animals or the sunset gets you going, snap away. Taking photos is therapeutic for a number of reasons, but most of all it's a lovely way to document your life with things to look back on. Get snapping.
18. Never Think You Know It All.
It's easy to be arrogant when we are conditioned all our lives with things we are expected to believe. "Boys should do this", "girls should do that". But just because we've been taught it from a society that has never been challenged to think differently, doesn't make it right. Question everything. Stay curious. Look into things and don't dismiss stuff you know nothing about. Not only is it a really ugly personality trait, it gets you nowhere in life. Opening your mind and heart is a surefire way of experiencing life in all its' beauty.
19. Go After What You Want In Life.
Jim Carey did a graduation speech about his father who never went after his dreams because he wanted to do the ‘safe thing'. Have a 'stable' career that would provide for his family. From memory, his father failed and lost everything in his 'stable' career. The moral being that if you are going to fail at something, at least let it be something you love, because the fact is it is just as possible to fail at something you hate. Give it a go. Life is too short to not go after what you want.
20. Travel. Travel. Travel.
See the world. It'll show you that we humans are all the same. It replaces ignorance with knowledge and shows you how vast our planet is. Get out there.
21. Someone Who Is Nice To You But Not Nice To The Waiter Is Not A Nice Person.
I love this quote because it's so damn true. Don't be a dick to service people. Don't think you're better than anyone because you're not. End of story. Period.
22. Get Over Yourself.
Sort of a continuation of the above, this is just a reminder to get over yourself, have a giggle and realise that just because you have a fancy car, a nice suit or well manicured hands means absolutely sweet F.A. Being a good person, showing kindness, empathy and caring about the planet and human beings as a whole is what counts in my books. Just be a good person. It's that simple.
23. Tell Your Loved Ones You Love Them And Don’t Go To Bed Angry.
Pretty self explanatory this one, but all the same, something to remember constantly. Life is far too short to go to bed angry at someone. Throw away silly arguments and tell the people you care about how you feel.
24. Screw What People Think Of You.
I mean it. Who cares what someone else thinks of you? That's their stuff. How they perceive you and how they feel about you is none of your business. Water off a ducks' back. Let it go.
25. Try Not To Worry So Much.
I know. Easier said than done, but sometimes it helps to take a step back, take a deep breath in and ask a few key questions: Can I do anything to change the current situation? If yes, do it. If not, let it go. Breathe through it and remember all we ever have is right in this moment.
26. Meditate.
YASSSSSSSSS times a million. Meditating is one of the most powerful things I have ever learnt in my 27 years on this planet. Taking a moment to just sit and reflect and focus on the here and now is one of the most intensely wonderful ways of reconnecting to what matters. There are a million different apps you can use or simply sit and count your breaths. It works wonders.
27. Life is what you make it, but most of all it’s about love.
Love, family, friends and making memories is the most important thing in life. Every year on this earth I realise more and more how utterly stupid it is to worry about material things. Now, I'm not saying you shouldn't enjoy material stuff whatsoever, but it shouldn't be what you go after in life. Nobody ever gets to the end of their life clutching on to their Chanel bag. The things that matter are the people you love and the memories you make.
So go for a walk, take in the view, have a laugh and breathe in every moment of every day. It's all we ever have.
- Harry.

So my last post here was on 12th Feb 2018.
Today is 14th Feb 2021, it's been 3 years.
Let me leave another digital footprint about where I've been, what's been happening, my life updates, and how many dark days I've successfully past to be here hahahaha
1. I'm 24. Well technically about to be 25 this year but hey, still 10 more months let me not think about becoming a quarter of decade first, ok?!
2. I've fucking graduated! Hahahaha yeah I have a BS now, B.Sc for sure. Bachelor of Science. On 2019. Finally huh? Twas some roller coaster of uni life. I kinda missing it now tho🙄
3. Currently working, on my second job!
Gotta say I'm lucky, blessed, whatever but clearly lucky enough to found a job right after I started looking for one, which is 2 months after the graduation ceremony. It wasn't a glamorous job at all, but I loved it. And I love my job now as well. I can say it's my life, my whole life😂😂 as maybe I can predict ever since I'm a child that I'll grow up into a workaholic kind of person lol #capricorn at its best quality ✨✨ And hey, I'm doing pretty great! Career ladder wise, salary ladder wise, I'm doing okay. Of course my current salary is far from my ideal salary if count based on my education background, my vision board and my stuck up personality, but anyway all good all great, considering I'm now living in the middle of a pandemic.
4. Yeah right, I should've mentioned this on the first update. It's pandemic year!!!! Corona now ru(i)ns the world, est.2020. Crazy, crazy year. People working from home, people got laid off, people got sick and dead, the world turns upside down. But let's be grateful that we all still alive and thriving and still have tomorrow to looking forward.
5. I'm still friends with my best friend, and I still like them as much as I like my dog or well I like them more and more every day ngl I love em and I feel lucky grateful to find em🥺🥺
Tumblr media
6. I see the reason I started this tumblr initially was for me, a cold hearted, heartless, emotionless, denial-lover, avoidant person to LEARN to pour out my emotions for the sake of the mental health and to recover from...uhm, brokenheart hahah🙄 I see the last time I post here I said I've moved on but let me tell you that I still sometimes missed him and there was this never ending curiousity of what could've happened and what went wrong.
Now, 3 years later, let me tell you that I am now has been Ex-Free for a whole good year!!!!!!!! ✨✨✨✨ I think it's all started in the middle of 2019 and it continues til now.
I even met someone last year that I instantly feel connected (well, idk the other end I'm not responsible for their feelings) let's we all hope that this will end well, shall we? Because I really like him
Tumblr media
See, it's a LOT OF WORK AND OBSTACLES I'VE OVERCAME to finally being an individual who recognises its own feelings and being okay with it. Proud of me💐
7. It's not all rainbows and sunshine, there were lots of bad days, especially those near my period days.
Called it PMDD, I now become very close with that bitch. Definitely has a strong effect on me, makes me 100x bitchier than usual. Not only that, but some times also kick me right at the gut and throw me into the deepest hole very near with borderline depression. But that's another story to tell. The last few months has been good tho, the symptoms is no longer worse maybe except this month lmao.
I started to think whenever I overworked myself, put myself in the middle of a very packed schedule with a messy sleeping pattern and unhealthy food, the symptoms will only getting worse. So I guess my homework is to balance it all out. No big deal..
8. Last but not least, I lost a couple of friends/aunties/grandpa this last 3 years.
Started in 2019, on April, suddenly a friend of mine from the secondary school died from lung cancer (may he rest in peace, we all really sorry for being such a jerk). Pretty shocking, kind of throw me off.
And then another friend suddenly got sick and he died on August, literally 2 weeks after we visited him in the hospital. Bone cancer. This one friend was closer to me, his house even just a couple metres away from mine. Last fun we had was when we were on a small reunion and he picked me up, and on the way home he told me and my other friend that his legs occasionally felt numb and weak. We joked that it was the age factor hahahah we had no idea that it was actually cancer. It was on May, if I'm not mistaken. We knew he had cancer by June/July. Consider him as a good friend, good human. Yeah anyway, his death literally surprised me and I was really really sad. Well, fella, I hope you both found a safe place in heaven and continuously play your music for God just like you did on your time on earth. We love you both, we will never forget you.
Lastly, my grandpa died on September 2020. Also two or three weeks after I visit him? Couldn't remember. Haven't paid a visit to his grave since it's pandemic season, I can only watch virtually the moment he was on the casket and buried. Hope you'll always watching us and guide us, grandpa!
Oh wait I hate to end my story with a sad shit, so...yeah just.......maybe........wish me luck with this...new person... I've found.... attractive..........cs I really...like him........hahahahhahahahahahahahahaha I'm soooo cheesy buh bye

Hey I've been kinda absent so here’s a run down on What’s Up With Oki
So, today was my last day at work- and i just sort of realized i haven’t ever talked much about my work at all since i started working. Actually, the reason i’ve been so absent from tumblr & social media in general has been because of work, so i apologize for that :’D
But yea for those who don’t know i was a dog boarder- like i worked at a place that kept dogs over night and they also provided daycare. I supervised them in the play yard(s) and did about 1000 other things that you need to do to take care of them (80% of which is cleaning lmao) and while i’m usually exhausted by the end of the day (looking after 25+ dogs at a time sounds great until you actually do it) but I really did enjoy working. I usually work 8 hour shifts- rarely i’ll work 3 1/2 hours, but 90% of the time it’s 8 hours- so yea. But today was my “last day” until i come back for Christmas break. Bitter sweet, but thankfully m
Tomorrow I have off obviously, but i’ll be running to some stores to get some last minute things, and then i have to pack my clothes and a few other stuff and start packing the car... then Friday i leave :’D I’ll be abuot 4-5 hours away from home. in a city. like, IN the city. So yea, it’ll be interesting adjusting to that.
I have family that lives about an hour away from were i’m at tho, so if i start dying, i’m not screwed :’D And for orientation, they’ll be taking us around parts of the city, so i’ll learn to navigate a little bit atleast.
However, i’ll be working in my college’s cafeteria (4 days a week for about 3 hours each day, not bad at all) and my dorms are connected to the school so like, theoretically, i never have to leave the college :P ofc i will, we’re actually like, right in front of a fountain & sidewalk place that’s nice for walking so yea i won’t be a total hermit :’D
My REALLY busy days are Wednesday & Thursday- like i’m schooling/working from 8 am to 6/7 pm those days- and yea Friday i have a 7 hour class but i’m done by 3. I have no classes monday, however i work all three days, but its from 10-1 so. Yea :’D
If it’s too much, i might drop my 4-7 shift on wednesdays. I’d like to keep it so i’m working over 10 hours each week, but yea i don’t wanna overwhelm myself. My boss seems suuuuper nice, so i’m sure if i have to do that, she won’t murder me :’D
Um... yea that’s about it i think. Oh yea- my younger brother’s actually leaving home too. He’s a very big hockey player (he’s very very into it, his team this year made 3rd place in nationals- they were 3rd in the entire country). So, he had the chance to go play for a couple teams that are very far away from home. He deceided to play for a team out in NY. He’ll be staying with a billet family anddo cyber school in order to do all this....
My main point is, my mom & dad are loosing two kids- and like, i know they were prepared for me, but my brother leaving was a very... last minute thing. And not only am i worried for them (just for adjusting from going to 3 kids to 1) but i’m worried for my sister... I’ve mentioned this before, but me & my family think she might be... depressed/something of the like. She’s 9, almost 10, so it’s hard to tell wether she’s.... y’know, just growing and all that stuff, or if something’s seriously wrong. My dad told me to talk with her and i did- i sort of just made her cry (i don’t think she likes to talk about whatever is bothering her is why) but i did reassure her that if she ever felt she couldn’t go to mom or dad about something- come to me. And a bunch of other sister-to-sister stuff as well. Idk, i’m really protective of her and i hope she find a way to communicate what she’s going through... like the big problem is that she won’t talk to us about what’s wrong- like i’d love to say “maybe nothing’s wrong!” but.... she sits in her room from wake up till bed time and is on her phone all day and lets dishes and cups and food pile up in her room and refuses to shower... that’s not exactly normal for a 9 year old to be doing and it just worries me cause i don’t want her to go through what i did is all.
ANYWAY that’s a run down on Oki’s Life... i might try to set up my queue again since i might be... busy :’D
I feel really bad i wasn’t as active on here this summer... time really went by after getting a job & handling college stuff. But ye here’s to a new adventure!!!!
