Being an anidala fan on ao3 sucks cause you see the number of fics (almost 10k) and u get excited until you realise that most of the fics feature them as background ship, broken up or straight up ooc
*sighs*

Do you have any Star Wars fic recs (with or without OCs, canon or AU, any ship)?
I do!! My AO3 bookmarks are a good place to look, but I'll just hit a few of the highlights (my 10 favorites, though these fics are listed in no particular order):
dreamless nights by @ahsokryze is an amazing Anakin & Ahsoka fic 🥹 so soft and wonderful. Captures the big-brother/little-sister dynamic so so well
bound by the things we choose ‘verse by @nspx is so wonderful!! It tackles such relationships as Leia & Vader, Qui-Gon & Obi-Wan, and Mara & Vader (love that third fic fr)
the skywalker palindrome by @cringewerewolf is the coolest take on time travel EVER 💞 the series page explains it better than I could, but I will say that it’s Anakin and Luke centric.
hendiadys for a dream by @ozvezdja is THE Anidala fic series of all time (especially now i want my letters white again)!! Like omg…bees, you GET IT!! You get them!! Sola’s POV for that first fic is INSPIRED 💞 I am OBSESSED, please go read this fic if you’re even lukewarm towards Anidala
Frozen in Time by @fanfictasia is some of the most heartwrenching Luke & Vader angst I’ve ever read (while also being short, which is an impressive feat). I just…Vader having visits with Luke supervised by Palpatine?? Luke being periodically frozen in carbonite?? THE TRAGEDY OF IT ALL
The Tatooine Cycle by @fialleril, because I’d be remiss to exclude them from a SW rec list—their fics are a must-read, their worldbuilding of Tatooine is absolutely amazing 💞
Misunderstandings by Livsy, which tackles Anakin’s oft-neglected (in fandom) slave background!
All The Right Reasons by bethagain is such a sweetly heartwrenching look at Luke & Ben (Solo, not Skywalker), how quickly Luke bonds with his nephew…and how he hesitates at first to train Ben because (“I can’t see through…how much I love him”) 🥺 I just. I can’t. I am MELTING, this is so emotional (and it was written pre-TLJ! A nice bonus for me, as someone who hates how their relationship was handled in that movie)
The King’s Gambit by @elli-incarnate…oh it’s a masterclass. The epitome of Sith Luke fics, and absolutely beautiful to read. Every sentence is written with so much care, Luke/Mara is written wonderfully, and I just…I love it so much. So, so very much 💞 it’s Legends-leaning, but tbh it can be enjoyed without knowing Legends
Enter the Foreign by Viari is for absolutely anyone who loves time-travel fics…especially ones featuring Anakin! You don’t need to be terribly familiar with Legends, though it helps (I’m somewhat familiar, but not totally, and this was accessible to me). The spin-off AUs are such a delight too (and an inspiration for me to write my own 😅), and it’s just so much fun and so clearly a labor of love, and such a sprawling, intricate AU. I can’t recommend it enough.
Adding an 11th because why not:
The Sun in the Storm by @basimibnishaqs is such an adorable Rey-is-Luke’s-daughter fic 🥹 she’s an adorable sweetheart, and Luke is her protective dad, what more could you want?? (Also OP has galaxy-brained takes about Rey & Luke so…you know. There’s that too)

this is so interesting! i think if i had to take a guess as to why, it’d be something about how the less explicit ships are the more accepted as real, canon or widely fanon ships — hanleia, anidala and obitine i guess are more likely to be used as secondary relationship tags? i would also guess that given they're pre-existing relationships, a fic writer is less likely to write a smutty getting-together scenario, but i don't think that point is as viable.
there's also the nature of the ships i guess. i think the more explicit ones feature 'darker' characters (kylo) or more taboo relationships like those between a master and padawan like obikin & quiobi. finnpoe and damerey(????) aren't quite as 'out there', and even though realistically a relationship between obi-wan and cody would be quite taboo (but i do not want to get into obikin/codywan discourse today i beg) it tends to be seen as more wholesome or translated with less of that power imbalance in fics. furthermore as has been pointed out the 'darker' relationships could be tagged as explicit/mature for non-smutty reasons. if i were writing a vaderwan fic, for example, given the darker subject matter i think even without smut it would be more likely to get an m/e rating. i do think that the 'nature' of certain ship fans (not that i want to get into that today either!!) could have an impact to but i couldn't reach for any claims.
also i was thinking of purely smut-inspired ships and obi-wan/the 212th has 80% m/e ratings! as for a probably darker ship obimaul has 53% m/e. obi-wan/himself is all m/e lol. yes i did only look at obi-wan ships sorry i am biased and also he's the only person with non-canon ships in both sides. he is also the most frequent fic character by far with 52k works, followed by rey with 45k and kylo with 37k.
for curiosity's sake i looked at the obikin stats as of now and the percentage of m/e (incl nr for more accurate comparison) is now 56. slightly more horny!
anyway, I did this the other day, and thought it was funny. obikin is horny.
ratings of ao3 fics under the obi-wan/anakin tag vs. star wars as a whole:

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤㅤㅤㅤ ㅤ[ M O B I L E R U L E S ]
ㅤㅤㅤ───────── B A S I C I N F O R M A T I O N ㅤㅤㅤi draw from both canon and legends with a heavy emphasis on written works and headcanon. i do not, however, consider the characterization of the padmé trilogy to be canon on this blog, though i am willing to include some events if they are central to yours. historical and cultural inspirations are equally central to my interpretation and feature regularly. ㅤㅤㅤthis is a selective and mutuals only blog. i won't interact in-character with blogs i don't follow and may be selective on what i write. if you message me about writing / like a starter or plotting call, please do so only if we are mutuals. i regularly check for new followers, so please do not message me asking if i'm interested. however, non-mutual roleplay and non-roleplay blogs are welcome to message me about characters and new content. i love making new friends!
ㅤㅤㅤ─────────ㅤ W R I T I N G / T H R E A D S ㅤㅤㅤwhile i enjoy asks, i prefer plotted interactions, as having some sort of plan in mind usually leads to longer threads. i focus on these, but they aren't required to interact. i also encourage you to continue asks if you so desire. ㅤㅤㅤactivity may be sporadic. i not only have other blogs, but i run a business and help my family. additionally, i have chronic health issues that complicate everything. these may lead to unannounced hiatuses for short periods of time ( most no more than a month ), but i always return. if you'd like to keep in regular contact and you're a mutual, please ask for my discord. ㅤㅤㅤtypically, i place ic content into the queue, mixing it with text or image reblogs. but like everyone occasionally, i can be very impulsive and post immediately. i lightly format and use icons. this includes small text, indents, increased spaces between sentences, and occasional bold/italics or special fonts. i don't require either formatting or icons and if either is an impediment for you, please let me know.
ㅤㅤㅤ───────── ㅤ S H I P P I N G / N S F W ㅤㅤㅤi ship with chemistry. this means i may be selective with romantic shipping, but queries toward this are always welcome. while anidala is my favorite ship, i don't autoship, and i enjoy shipping canons and ocs. i also feel that a character's platonic relationships are just as or, sometimes, more important than their romantic ones. i don't need to ship to write and would far rather build detailed enemies and friends than a half-cooked romance. i occasionally write nsfw but prefer to do so off tumblr to prevent possibly being seen by minors.
ㅤㅤㅤ─────────ㅤ C O N T E N T W A R N I N G ㅤㅤ ㅤyou can expect darker themes on this blog. there are generally those common in star wars content but specifically war, imprisonment, violence, torture, spousal abuse, blood, politics, pregnancy, child loss, and death / loss. i tag the most common triggers, nsfw content, and those requested by my mutuals. however, if you believe something would be a common theme on this blog beyond the common trigger tags, and it'll severely trigger you, please don't follow. don't risk my forgetfulness, please. the trigger tag for this blogs is 'trigger tw'. i personally don't have triggers.
ㅤㅤㅤ─────────ㅤ D I S P U T E S / D Y N A M I C S ㅤㅤ ㅤthis is a mun doesn't equal muse blog. i don't care what allegiances or beliefs your muse may have. unless i see clear and substantiated evidence of various bigoted beliefs out of character, i'll always assume you're a decent human being whether you write villains, heroes, or anything in between. also, even if we write people with good views and intentions, we still might not entirely agree with their choices. it wouldn't be fair to assume that either so please, extend me the same courtesy. ㅤㅤㅤi'm almost entirely anti-callout. i've been on this site for several years, and i've witnessed a slow degradation of what is considered a valid callout. often, they have little to no substantiated evidence, are a misunderstanding, and \ or result from twisted evidence in the aftermath of a fallout between friends. unless i see substantiated evidence of criminal behavior, i won't reblog them nor do i want to see them in general. ㅤㅤㅤthat being said, if someone i follow has harrassed you, please come and talk to me about it privately. i don't tolerate bullies. ㅤㅤㅤon a lighter note, i don't practice mains or exclusives. like anyone, i have favorites and certainly, those people often are are unofficial mains ( or affiliates ) , but i've been and seen too many hurt by going further. we're all so unique in how we write that no two portrayals are the same. if you find people you want to be mains and exclusives with, i wish you all the best of times however!
ㅤㅤㅤ─────────ㅤ C R E D I T S ㅤ ㅤㅤi created all graphics, psds, headcanons, and icons unless stated otherwise in the post, it's reblogged, or it's listed below. please don't steal, and i'm usually happy to make someone something if asked!

SW Fanfic Recs: Anakin Skywalker and the High Pressure, Extra Traumatic, Time-traveling Recovery from Sith-hood.
Out of the Dark Valley by Irhinoceri: Vader had only one regret, so when he went back to fix it, he didn’t give much thought to the life he would then have to live after correcting his mistake. A life on the run from the Empire he helped build.
New Light by Anemoia: Post-RotJ Anakin wakes up on a battlefield mid-Clone Wars. He’s a wreck, but a wreck determined to avoid the same mistakes.
A Second Chance by Alverrann: He was dying in Luke’s arms... and then he awoke in Dex’s diner, with a terrified Kenobi across from him.
Desecrate My Lungs by LoosingLetters: They’re calling it a vision from the Force. That’s the only explanation for what struck Anakin so suddenly. Why he’s forgotten to walk without prosthetic legs. Why the mere sight of the Jedi Temple sends him spiraling. Obi-Wan and Ahsoka struggle to help him, but even with that meager explanation, there’s still so much of the story–and Anakin–that they are missing.
Force of Many Sights Series by DAsObiQuiet: After his death as Darth Vader, Anakin Skywalker has been given a chance to start over from the beginning. Specifically, his 9-year-old self's beginning. Sometimes second chances are harder than the first time around.

Imagine Padmé and Anakin have a rather happy ending. She gives birth to their twins and her beloved husband does not go into the dark side.
Warnings: none; it’s all fluffy. It’s also a short fic; alternative universe as usual because there’s not gonna be Vader and I’ve been trying to write an Anidala fic for a while, but inspiration has always left me when I needed it. Not sure if it’s good enough for the Anidalas out there but…
***
“Do you trust me, Ani?” She asks Anakin. Taking a seat next to him, Padmé is rubbing her husband’s shoulders, trying to find the best way to comfort him.
He’s running his hands over his hair, face bathed in tears. When looking at her, Anakin could see a genuine concern in her features. But it’s not enough to ease the pain theses dreams have been plaguing him. He’s reminded of his mother, how he failed to save her. There surely must be a way to save Padmé, to prevent her from dying in birth.
“I do, my love. But it’s not as simple as that. It’s…” his voice dies out. “I am scared to lose you.”
“This is a thought that haunts me sometimes as well.” She tells him, planting soft kisses in his shoulder, ever so warm. The gaze she casts on her husband is full of love. Padmé searches out for his hand, intertwining their fingers. “But I don’t let this fear to cloud my trust in you, knowing you’ll come back safe and sound to my arms. Do you think it’s easy for me to watch you go? It’s not, Ani.”
There’s more she would like to tell him: the lonely nights she misses his warm, tanned skin; to sleep so protectively in his chest. In truth, she’s as attached to him as he is to her.
When searching for his eyes, Padmé is anxious to see solace in them. She does not wish to see high tide in these irises that are colored like the sea, the perfect mirror to a cloudless blue sky. She does not wish to be drowned in a tempest even her heart battles her reason in doing so: Padmé would do all that is in her power to rescue Anakin from the unknown waters that might take him away from her like a boat that floats away from her.
Anakin then turns his gaze at her, seeing through the composed mask in her face. The unspeakable intensity, the grip into the love she holds onto for him. He gently caresses her cheek, observing how she leans into it and how her eyes always tell more than words could.
“I trust in you.” Anakin softens. “You are much more reasonable than I. But you don’t understand, Padmé. I would do anything that is in my power to prevent you… Padmé!” He interrupts himself when watching her painful expression. “Padmé! By the Maker! What’s going on?”
“I think our child is coming earlier than planned…” She gasps, surprised. “Ani, please, take me to the hospital.”
“But…” Anakin is paled and terrified by the perspective he’d lose her. Fear does tend to petrify even the most reasonable of the people.
“Anakin! We don’t have time to discuss it!” Padmé exclaims, giving him a wake up call.
Anakin nods. He swallows hard and decides to take the risk even though there’s a voice in the back of his mind accusing him of responsibility if she does not survive the labor.
Perhaps guessing his thoughts by reading the paleness in his face, Padmé takes his hand and gives him a painful look.
“Promise me you’re staying with me. Promise me you will not leave my side, Anakin.”
She needs to know. She needs the reassurance. The Senator watches her beloved knight with deep concern as if in her heart there’s a bad feeling trying to make a nest right over it.
“I…” Whatever is in his thought, it dies in the moment she pledges him tenderly, as fearful as he is. They are about to live a long time planned moment—in some ways, anyway—and yet both are emerged in fear. It’s not supposed to be this way. “Of course. When did I ever leave you, my love? I will be with you, all right?”
It feels as if every cloud ceases to rumble, as if every announced tempest is dissipated, as if light brightens the skies. It’s almost as if the high tide has finally left… going back to where it is. Padmé cries, as a result.
“My love”, Anakin’s voice goes a tone higher than planned. “I’m trying to pilot as fast I can. What’s wrong?”
“Nothing. These are tears of joy, that is all.” She smiles at him. “I love you, Ani.”
Anakin’s heart is light again.
“Good grief, woman. Your hormones never cease to scare the shit out me.”
She playfully slapped his arm.
“Oh shush, Anakin.”
Where there was fear and panic, there is love and laughter. There’s darkness no more. It is what it is.
And to prove that, as he holds her hand throughout the process, the children are delivered healthily. Both mothers and the twins are doing just fine.
“Twins!” Anakin chuckles nervously, eyeing Padmé relived but also slightly tense. “Twins! Two babies! Not one!”
Though tired as she is, Padmé is happy nonetheless. She laughs at his reaction.
“We are double blessed.” Padmé smiles at him. “We are having a big family, won’t we?”
Anakin raises an eyebrow.
“Quiet your hormones please.” He chuckles as he teases her.
He then holds his princess first. Both Anakin and Padmé agree to name her Leia. She has his eyes. When looking down at her, Anakin is emotional.
“I was right all along.” Anakin tells in an embargoed voice. “Hello there, daddy’s little girl. Welcome to this world. Daddy will always love you.”
Padmé blinks away the tears in her eyes when seeing such a scene right before her. A memory that will always be in her mind: when the man she loves is holding their baby in his arms.
As for her, though, she is holding her boy in his arms.
“I was right too. My maternal instinct told me a boy is on his way. Welcome, my prince. My boy. Luke.” She presses a kiss on top of his temple.
Anakin looks at Padmé holding their son in her arms as he holds little Leia in his, and a happy tears rolls down his cheek. His fears had never proved so wrong. His children prevented his fall to darkness after all.
***
Epilogue.
Padmé is terrified by how Anakin actually allows Luke to pilot this fast.
“Are you out of your mind?! He’s only nine, Anakin!”
Luke, to her dismay, is chuckling as he lands the ship. His eyes are full of joy as his father laughs heartily, ruffling his hair.
“He’s so good at it, Padmé! You should see! Tell your mother, my son, how great skilled you are!” Anakin beams proudly.
“It’s true mama!” Luke runs to Padmé all the while Leia runs to her dad.
She heavily sighs, forced to acknowledge he has much of his father’s skills. Oh dear Maker.
“I’m glad to hear, Luke. But you are a boy, you can’t go out piloting this fast. It’s too dangerous. Besides, you have homework. Come now, young man. Your sister has already done hers.”
“Ugh, fine.”
Padmé laughs quietly, holding his hand as they walk inside.
“You can tell me all about it later, okay?” She is pleased when he beams at her.
In the meanwhile, Leia is now sitting over her father’s shoulders even though she’s not a little girl anymore. Anakin laughs as she giggles happily when he plays with her, before putting her on the ground because, Maker, his back is not the same as it used to be.
“Daddy!” Leia pouts. “One more time, please!”
“Your dad is getting old, Leia.” Anakin laughs loud. He could hear Obi-Wan’s teasings about it. “I still need my back, you know. What do you want to play now?”
As he plays with his daughter and Padmé studies with Luke, another day goes by. When they are finally asleep, Anakin takes Padmé outside their home where stars shine and there’s no Empire because thankfully the Chancellor’s ill doings were stopped and he was arrested for good. Senator Organa was elected in his place and the wars finally end.
So here they are, enjoying the peace they deserve.
“I can’t believe how far we’ve come.” Padmé tells her husband, looking at him with love. “Our children are growing so fast.”
“I think we should lock them inside the house, eh?” Anakin teases her.
She laughs.
“We can’t do that, Anakin. We have to deal with that, you know well.”
Anakin looks deep inside her eyes, lifting her chin whilst he brushes his lips against hers.
“I think we are prepared to grow our family, don’t you think?”
A mischievous smirk twists in the corner of his lips. Padmé blushes, specially because he knows.
“About that…”
Anakin chuckles when resting his hand in her belly.
“I know. Finally! The more the merrier!”
She giggles softly. Her hands are now placed around his neck.
“I love you, Ani.”
“And I, you, my darling wife.”
She does not need to wait further. Anakin kisses her and that is how they end the night together.

I FORGOT SOME.
Apparently I didn't bookmark these when I first read them despite really enjoying them, so I forgot to include them yesterday, but here's a few more!
⭐ Breeding by @bittodeath - I refer to this as 'the bitching fic' and it's a really fun exploration of ways that things like transitioning and queer relationships might work in the omegaverse. Basically, JangObi where both are alphas, and are trying to transition Obi-Wan to omega over the course of six months or so. Very porny, but also very fun imo. (IDK why I can't tag them.) They also wrote Mating Run, a different, much faster transition fic featuring Obikin.
afterglow by @inferior-fairy - another transitioning fic, this one Obikin, with Anakin as the one becoming an Omega, aided by the clones when Obi-Wan can't be there.
⭐ How to build a family by @anakinks - a Jangobi one-night stand in AotC leads to an unplanned pregnancy. Since Jango dies almost immediately after, keeping the pregnancy isn't as big of a deal as it could be, but Obi-Wan starts a relationship with Cody. Stands out in my memory for the moment Anakin shows up and offers Tatooine Folk Medicine Advice that actually works out and leads to the CodyWan, but also the Anakin&Obi dynamic is just great in general. Also they adopt Boba by leveraging the pregnancy against legal precedent, which is fun.
⭐ Late Night Bounty Call by eltrut07 - kicks off a standard-ish 'sex pollen triggers a heat that has two enemies going at it like rabbits' plot, and then unravels over the course of tens of thousands of words of bad decisions, conspiracy, in-universe social commentary, and Assumptions Make An Ass of You and Me. Everyone is an idiot now and again, which is great because that's how real life works, too. Also Boba ships Jango and Obi-Wan like mad and will make them get married for real if it kills him.
Ner Kar'ta by Loveobiwantobits - this one is further towards the 'a/b/o extreme sexism' scale, but it's pretty well-plotted and over 150k words, most of which is very horny. (Also, Jango's encouragement of Obi-Wan getting Anakin is adorable.) Does have some Qui-Gon bashing, though, so YMMV on that.
The Domestication of Darth Vader by scaryhours (doesn't have tumblr because of regional issues) - Vaderwan raising Luke with heavy omegaverse element, with a standard "fuck him back to the Light" angle.
you be the tightrope, baby i'll be the safety net by @tennessoui - modern au where the omegaverse isn't even the main point, it's just that Obi-Wan is being Peak Bitch at a wedding Anakin attends because he decided all Anakin's former classmates deserve to be Snubbed.
⭐ A Slow Fall Towards Grace by @glimmerglanger - genuinely have no idea how I missed this the first time. I think it's because this list started out as recs to a discord server and I thought certain elements (namely the QuiObi incident) weren't right for that one, and I forgot to add it back in when transferring to tumblr? IDK, point is, this is 100k+ of glorious fic that I spent several days liveblogging to @willowcrowned the first time I read it, which should tell you a lot.
Hazards of Strange and Wondrous Things by @glimmerglanger - Omegaverse sex pollen plot. Pure Obi/Clones smut.
Hyperfertility by @gabriel4sam - Breeding kink taken to the extreme. Every omegaverse fic rec list needs one. Very much exactly what it says on the tin.
Cold Shock by jellyjog - 'we should fuck to survive this blizzard, right?'
Equality by orphan_account - O!Anakin/O!Obi-Wan, surprise heat.
⭐ I will be keeping our memories by IronCannon - O!Anakin and A!Obi-Wan have been circling each other for years but fail to get anywhere because Obi-Wan has a medical condition he hasn't told anyone about, and the idiot ball gets juggled around a bit.
Poster Boy for Second Place by MusicSoul1982 - Another "rich politicians Anidala pick up Jedi Obi-Wan as their third" plot. Has some very High Trope situations, but in the way of a soap opera, where you know it's overly ridiculous but deliberately so, and enjoyable.
⭐ Chapter 2 of Subobi Week: 2020/2021 by @the-writing-mill - Took me a hot second to find this one. It's a very dark one, in that it takes place as a direct result of Zygerrian bullshit, but it's also hopeful in how Rex/Obi support each other through it.
⭐ tender hands and desire vs need by aspec_erotica_connoisseur - aspec O!Obi-Wan dealing with heats, in a qp(?) relationship with Quinlan, who's very supportive of what he's dealing with.
Subobi Week: Winter 2019/2020: Chapter 4 by @the-writing-mill: JangObi, fun with mixed feelings and "how do you handle a heat in a limited space that means there's a 5yo in the next room that you can't explain things to on account of them being Five."
Taking a Knot by distractionpie - semi-anonymous sex, A!Obi-Wan is blindfolded and does his best to remain unaware of just which clone he's helping through an unanticipated heat.
The Traditionalist by handdrawnisopach - A!Alpha-17/O!Obi-Wan, unplanned heat and the attempts to negotiate consent within the confines of medical necessity in such a situation.
Side Effects May Include by kazmir - Cody's libido is AWOL after brain surgery, and he and Obi-Wan try to navigate that.
Star Wars Omegaverse Recs
Here's a couple solid omegaverse fics. This list is shorter than most of the ones I write but Meh.
Stars are for my favorites.
⭐ The Rain Fell Already by @loosingmoreletters: variation on Jedi Indentured AU containing omegaverse. Xanatos is omega Qui-Gon's bio kid but nothing changes, depressing but poignant
House Call by @elthadriel: two idiots knot while on medication that requires no knotting because it can get stuck for literal hours. Kix has to help and he is very annoyed about it
Status Quo by @captainkirkk: (G-rated) Anakin responds to Obi-Wan in a "you are my dad" way and the clones are surprised pikachu about it
⭐ Temporary Like Achilles by @intermundia: standard-ish fuck-or-die scenario where both sides are like "I can't take advantage of you/I just took advantage of you" because of course they are. (This author has a lot of solid Obikin, but they have me blocked (no I don't know why) so I can't tag them.)
⭐ He Said Yes by @threebea: (G-rated) B!Quinlan and O!Obi-Wan get mated for Obi-Wan's safety, the nature of their relationship is unclear to basically everyone (romantic? qp? other? unclear)
venus flytrap by IntoThineHands: Sith!Obi, role reversal of trope standard (omega deliberately takes advantage of an alpha)
Bite of Caramel by @thewriterowl: A!Jango needs a date to the family reunion, asks O!Obi-Wan to accompany him
⭐ good things in threes by @galateagalvanized: Codywan accidental pregnancy after O!Obi-Wan's implant gets nullified by an overpowered EMP (along with Cody's brain chip)
all my roads lead back to you by @tennessoui: idiots to lovers comedy (modern au, Obi-Wan got pregnant in a one-night stand across the country with a bartender who kind of looked like Anakin, because he's in love with his roommate but can't come clean and so hooks up with guys who look like him, and Anakin is in love with Obi-Wan enough that he's decided to be the Dad Who Stepped Up to this kid because anything Obi-Wan makes is part of Obi-Wan and obviously deserving of adoration)
The Theory of Letting Go by @ifonlyweknewwhatiwasdoing: never a Jedi!Anakin, Padme dead of uterine rupture, Obi-Wan hormonally addled and insistent on taking care of the twins like they're his own
The Swan Serenade by @shatouto: heavily AU, Mando!Anakin and Jedi-but-more-like-real-world-monks!Obi. (Has the most adorable art in the end of chapter notes, btw)
For Safekeeping by @glimmerglanger: Sith O!Obi-Wan feels safe because of the army of clones, which is the first time he's felt safe enough to have a heat, ends up fucked by his army of betas
when the snow falls we will wrap ourselves in furs by @hornet394: the fic I reread that had me going "I want Rex with O!Anakin but being in character" because this is one of the few omegaverse Rexwalkers that hits that button for me (though it's technically Anakin/501st poly stuff)
⭐ Find a little stranger by @obimanletkenobi: Villain!Obidala, both alphas, find Anakin at an omega auction, decide to ask him to play surrogate for their child since they can't do it themselves (with the offer to drop him off on a random planet with a wiped memory and enough cash to start a new life as a free man if he doesn't want to get pregnant), followed by smut
Belonging by IronCannon: this is the OTHER solid omegaverse Rexwalker
⭐ Conceal Me by @himboskywalker: longfic that is VERY good imo and builds the tension incredibly. Anakin is an omega pretending to be an alpha (literally the only people alive that know he's omega are his mother and the midwife). Senator Obi-Wan is an alpha pretending to be a beta (for weird reasons relating to his parents being kind of insane). They get married for politics, suggested by Palpatine because he found out about Obi-Wan being an alpha but not about Anakin, and decided a forced alpha/alpha marriage was going to self-destruct and help destabilize the Republic further.
Both by @obimanletkenobi: Anakin is the omegaverse equivalent of intersex and this explores the ways he's fetishized and discriminated against by the culture around him.
Peachy the Series by @the-writing-mill: IDK what to say, if you want 15k of O!Obi-Wan getting absolutely railed by two alphas, this is the fic for you
⭐ Packed Together Like Test Tubes also by @the-writing-mill: Jangobi, forced on both sides. Neither of them wants to mate, but the Kaminoans are forcing the issue with synthetic pheromones. It takes several weeks to get to that point and they are both fighting it with every ounce of willpower they have.
⭐ [Only] Think of Me by @inferior-fairy: Empress Amidala and Emperor Kenobi need Anakin to not go off the rails again, but they need a reason for him to want to stay because they love him too much to force the issue (and make him hate them) with chains or the like. So they give him Babies.
⭐ unfortunately it seems I have written more by @gaily-daily: Look at me. LOOK at me. This is fucked up and ugly and horrible and awful and messy and triggering and so incredibly well written as a dawning horror situation. Dead Dove at its finest. It is incredibly good as a story, but it is also really bad, and you need to go in accepting that. Without details, it's messy/triggering in the GoT sense.
⭐ terribly inconvenient and incredibly terrific by @tennessoui: A classic "Anakin wants to do something he is in no way qualified for and then suffers the consequences for his idiocy" plot, very fun.
I can fill those places in your heart no else can by @pontah: modern au post-breakup revenge sex I guess???
Ba’jurir by @mockingjay34: Rex/Fives, explores the intersection of anti-clone bigotry and anti-omega sexism.
Out in the Corner of the Dark with You by kazmir: a 5+1 fic about Anakin giving Obi-Wan a bunch of soft things as courting gifts
instincts by amidnightlove: just some fun and funky 'cycles make people go a little feral' stuff

1,4, and 22 for the salty asks?
Hoo boy, this is just enabling me to rant lmao. But thank you so much for the ask. <333
1. What OTP's in your fandom(s) do you just not get?
Gotta say Obitine. Uhh... I didn't get it when I first watched the cartoon, and I hated the implication that they gave Obi-Wan a romance to make Obi-Wan more 'human' (something I've heard other people push on the narrative.) I do like that it kind of showed the choice between being a Jedi and being in a commited relationship, but beyond that nothing. I also don't really like how most of Satine's whole story is determined by her romance to Obi-Wan. She's killed because of their relationship, most of the arcs with her surround the 'are they still in love and going to get with each other' narrative, and frankly it bores me. I am personally not into shipping in general, and I prefer more platonic and familial relationships like the Jedi-Clone and inter-Jedi relationships, so ships are kind of meh in general to me. I also didn't even see the appeal of their 'romance' tbh. They just seemed to argue a lot, and their confessions kind of came out of nowhere to me. If they did love each other, it really must have been a long time ago. I don't see it working?
Uhmmm off the top of my head are a few that I don't get, but I don't feel as strongly about. Qui-Gon x Shmi (never really understood why?), Rey x literally anyone lol (especially not our genocidal buddy kyle), Rose x Finn (not developed enough and then completely forgotten lmao, Ahsoka x Lux (ok this one is basically a notp tbh. Just... ew), and basically every Obi-Wan ship that I know (look he doesn't need fucing romance ok.) I didn't really want to go in depth with these because if we did heh yikes, we'd be here forever.
4. Do you have a NoTP in your fandom? Are they a popular OTP?
Hah. Anidala lol. From the top of my head, I think it's a very selfish relationship. I mean Anakin cares more about his feelings to Padmè than Padmè herself, and I feel like Padmè wants the clandestine romance vibes that come with being married to a person who is meant to be a neutral party. Especially during a war. Anakin's willingness to commit genocide for his 'love' for Padmè isn't a large sweeping romantic thing. The idea that he'd do anything for his love is pretty scary and I'm pretty sure Padmè, to some degree, knew of it. The fact that she continued to stay with him and live this double life means that she doesn't care about the consequences really. Idk I just feel like this relationship brings out the worst in both parties. The fact that Padmè is willing to deny that Anakin's fallen even when Obi-Wan comes to her door and tells her that Anakin killed Jedi could be that Padmè doesn't think Anakin capable of doing such a thing, but due to the fact that she was with him for the Tusken massacre and the whole Rush Clovis shit (and probably other tcw I don't remember) makes me think otherwise. Imo, I think that had the war ended and Palps been aprehended and everything gone well, their relationship would not have worked, because a large part of it was the fact that it was a secret thing, and that Anakin was not with Padmè that much. I don't see it working without outside factors imo, but whatever.
And, similar to many things, a lot of anidala fans are not willing to confront this truth that their relationship is built on lies and deceit and therefore will not continue to hold strong. So many of them ignore how Anakin broke his oaths as a Jedi to be impartial and place others over single people, and we all know that he did not do that when it came to Padmè. I know a lot of anidala fans aren't like this, and I'm not particularly vehement about this. This notp is more me not wanting to read anidala fics or see anidala art, and I've filtered it out. But yeah, some fan's vehemence that this was the one true thing and that if Anakin had been able to love openly (like he could... he just didn't have to be a Jedi to. Dang he really wants to eat his cak and have it too) and whatever he wouldn't have fallen just makes me... cringe a lot. Also I can't really separate what their relationship caused with the relationship itself.
22. Popular characters you hate?
Oh... uhh... this one makes me nervous ahhh. Well there are a few that I don't like as much as most people do and only a couple I hate hate. I really hate our lovely boy kyle. Uhh... mass murdering manipulator who tortures Rey and co, dude who stands by as entire planets are destroyed, and a genocidal maniac overall. I'm scared of some of his fans because yikes they're really fervent and trying to make kyle a morally grey character because of his 'redemption' during tros. Like... I don't care. You can say the same about Anakin/Vader tbh, but I think a lot of my hate for our buddy kyle comes from his fans and r*ylo stans who are very... intent on excusing Kyle's shitty actions. At least most Anakin/Vader fans know he's a shitty person and don't try and morally grey-ify him if you get what I'm saying.
Jango Fett too. I mean, I haven't read any of the books featuring him, but I'm gonna say it. Jango decided to enter that contract to create the army of clones. Essentially, he signed them up for the army in that contract with Dooku, so idc about your 'but he'd be such a good mand'alor and dad to the clones' bs, because he really wouldn't. He's incredibly selfish, and idk a lot of people seem to think he's the next best thing since sliced bread. I guess I should add Bo-Katan as well, because she's very hypocritical. the whole 'shouldn't you care about my sister' thing was not a good look because Bo-Katan, who helped bring the group of people there to destabalise her reign and kill her? Did you think deathwatch would just let her go freely? lmao with these two it's more I just don't like them that much. It's not like I hate them a whole bunch.

Top 5 Fan Works of 2021
Bit late to this but here goes! Thanks for tagging me @frostysunflowers
rules: it’s time to love yourselves! choose your 5 (ish) favorite works you created in the past year (fics, art, edits, etc.) and link them below to reflect on the amazing things you brought into the world in 2021. tag as many writers/artists/etc. as you want (fan or original) so we can spread the love and link each other to awesome works!
1. old ghosts keep whispering
It’s 2019. In a universe where Thanos didn’t snap: Steve Rogers has retired and Sam Wilson has taken up the shield; Bucky Barnes has his mind to himself again and is trying to make amends; Tony Stark has moved upstate with his wife and infant daughter; and there’s a new masked vigilante haunting the streets of Queens.
And in other news, there are still no new leads in the 2007 unsolved disappearance of three-year-old Nicholas Stark from the Italian beach villa where he was vacationing with family and staff.
I'm gonna be honest, I wrote this over the course of a weekend, while manic. The idea came to me and grabbed me by the teeth and would not let go. And it has still not let go. Which is why it's a series now. But this first fic, with Bucky's part of the story, is the one demanded to be written. I find the themes about him making amends really interesting. The way he spends all of TFATWS making friends with the old man who's son he killed, as if that will make it right, only realize in the end that what he actually has to do if tell the truth and offer the man closure. It's more painful for them both, they were both happier as friends, but what the man needed was the closure about his son's death, and only Bucky could give it to him. And then, once he'd done it, he needed to walk away and leave him alone. And that's what Bucky does here too; he provides that closure to those he's wronged. He makes amends.
2. relieved to lie in the wreckage
When Obi-wan doesn’t follow Padmé to Mustafar, she’s able to convince Anakin to run away from everything with her. But this doesn't prevent his nightmares from coming true, and he's left alone in a hostile galaxy with the infants she begged him to protect.
One of the better things I've ever written, tbh. I got sucked into Star Wars again late '20/early '21, and read a ton of fic and was reminded how hard I ship Anidala and how much I kind of love them because they have issues. (Making a playlist for them is great.) Because, when it came down to it on Mustafar, Padmé actually was ready to take off with Anakin even knowing what he'd done. She was willing to overlook it to be with him. Also, I just really like Dad!Anakin.
3. The Simple Life
An AU of The Game Plan, set right after Civil War and featuring a very lonely Tony Stark with poor coping mechanisms; a very young Peter Parker who is losing track of how many lies he’s told; and a very busy Pepper Potts who is starting to see her ex-boyfriend in a new light.
Another one that probably contains some of my best writing. I feel like I grew quite a bit in skill last year overall, but I also wrote A LOT more last year than ever before in sheer time and quantity. This is one of my most tightly plotted fics, and for all that it is an AU of a film, it only follows that film at its bare bones. The meat of it is really in Tony's story, which is tied very firmly into explaining how he went from being single with no team at the end of Civil War to asking Pepper to marry him and being in a place where he was inviting Peter to join the Avengers in Homecoming. That attitude shift in just 5 months has always interested me, so I'm exploring it here, under more drastic circumstances.
4. my family (might be a walking disaster)
Nicholas Stark was kidnapped when he was three years old and never seen again. Now, at age fifteen, Peter Parker has discovered that Tony Stark is his father and he has a family he had no idea about. It’s not just him and Aunt May anymore, now he has a father, a stepmom, and a baby sister too. Oh, and he’s still Spider-Man.
He’s handling the whole thing like a champ. Really, everything is fine. He’s totally got this. It’s everyone else who is having issues.
Next one in the Nico series! I love biodad au's, and I love kidnapping fics, and biodad kidnapping fics, but I wanted to play around with some of the tropes in them. And I wanted to deal a little bit more with the trauma that sort of thing would leave on everyone involved, especially Peter (and what it means that he's forgotten or suppressed a lot of his early childhood because of that trauma). And how that impacts rebuilding a family.
5. The Best Thanksgiving Ever
Thanksgiving, 2024. It’s a year post-blip and Tony Stark has invited all his family and friends over to his idyllic lake house for a perfect holiday. It’s gonna be great. Perfect. Absolutely nothing is going to go wrong.
I just want them all to be HAPPY. Is that really too much to ask? One big happy family, coming together at the holidays in chaos.
-----
I have no idea who's done this and who hasn't so far! um... tagging @stillwaterseas @josselinkohl @jenniboo311 @turtletotem @spagbol99 @hale-13 @karinaisloud anyone else who wants to go wild!!

Fic writer interview!!!
Thanks so much for the tag @stormwarnings sorry it took me so long to do this!!! <33
how many works do you have on ao3?
9!!
what’s your total ao3 word count?
39,086. huh somehow I expected it to be higher than that
how many fandoms have you written for, and what are they?
Just Star Wars! pretty much entirely The Clone Wars with all of my current fics and most of my WIPs focused on Anakin and Ahsoka
what are your top 5 fics by kudos?
don’t just stand there staring, honey— a silly little fic about the Jedi and their troopers (Everybody Lives!AU) going undercover and they don’t understand that they’re all incredibly attractive. A sequel is coming....one day...
long after you’re gone (gone, gone)— 5+1; Five times Ahsoka left and the one time she came home. Happy ending, mostly
as if you don’t remember, as if you can forget—some post-Zygerria angst and healing. Aayla Secura and Ahsoka Tano centric. Lots of feels, angst, and hurt/comfort. Inspired by @webtrinsic1122 ‘s “Show Me Your Teeth”
once the last drop of rain has dried off the pavement— some MORE post-Zygerria recovery. This one is a little bit more pointed with what happened to Ahsoka and features a very distressed Anakin trying to figure out how to help his traumatized little sis.
said you’d always be my white blood (i need you right here with me)—post Trandoshans/Padawan Lost arc. I LOVE this arc and there’s not nearly enough content about it. Wrote this to fill a tumblr prompt not long ago so I’m actually surprised it’s in my top 5!! Hurt/comfort, recovery, scary!Anakin and Ahsoka bringing him back from the edge
do you respond to comments? why, or why not?
Yes!! people take the time to write them and they make me so so indescribably happy! I literally end up gushing about readers leaving comments as much as they do about my work!
what’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Definitely Never Let Me Go, but that was also my first ever work, and not my best. Pretty much all of my works have at least hopeful endings, if not happy, but my angstiest fic is you drew stars around my scars (but now i’m bleeding) so I’m gonna say that one
do you write crossovers? if so, what is the craziest one you’ve written?
no, never have. I don’t think I could do it well and there’s not really any fandoms that I want to see mixed together
have you ever recieved hate on a fic?
thankfully, no. I think I would cry ahahaa. My readers are literally some of the kindest people in the world I love you guys so much!!!
do you write smut? if so, what kind?
no. never say never, but it’s unlikely. again, I don’t think I would do it well
have you ever had a fic stolen?
not that i know of!
have you ever had a fic translated?
nope!
have you ever co-written a fic before?
no but i’d probably be down!
what’s your all-time favorite ship?
like....ever?? idk if i can pick! Star Wars though is hard bc i’m not the hugest anidala fan but also don’t really ship Anakin with anyone else. I like Ahsoka ships, just cause she’s my favorite character, but not all of them work. My guilty pleasure ship is probably fives/ahsoka, but there’s not a lot of content for them. i’ll pretty much read anything that’s well written except for the ones that i really don’t like (not going to list, no hate here!)
what’s a wip that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
ugh right now it feels like i will never finish the don’t just stand there sequel, but i will one day! I have several multi chap fics that I want to write including one about Rex and Ahsoka saving the 332nd, and one in an Anakin doesn’t fall-verse where he and Ahsoka free the slaves on Tatooine, but long fics are not my strong suit. (looks guiltily at my original novel i haven’t touched in 3 months)
what are your writing strengths?
i’d probably say the emotional aspects of the characters?? that’s what i most enjoy writing. I’ve also been told that my prose itself is good so maybe that too?
what are your writing weaknesses?
plotting lmao. and action sequences.
what are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
i mean my only other language i use is some sparse mando’a. I don’t speak any other languages so it’s probably not something i would think about. but i definitely enjoy fics and books that incorporate it because it adds such a cultural depth to the characters!! (i’m also such a sucker for the trope where Character A says something cute to their love interest in their native language, and when asked what they said they say something bland)
what was the first fandom you wrote for?
i have NO idea. I’ve been writing since I was really young, but maybe percy jackson? I remember writing for maze runner when i was like 12 but....
what’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
definitely you drew stars around my stars (but now i’m bleeding). I worked on it for so long and am really proud of it and the response it’s gotten
this was so fun!!! thanks again, @stormwarnings
Tagging: @ashgryff @lynnpaper @webtrinsic1122 and anyone else who wants to participate!! <333

I wonder if Anidala was a chore to deliver on for the writers of the CW series... not all was bad and at least we had something than nothing but later seasons it’s like unnecessary drama and pettiness to practical crumbs by season 7.
Most likely. The way I see TCW, the 2008 series, is that they made it solely to address the complaints that people had about the prequels. Anakin is too emotional, there’s too much love story, Anakin is too young etc. And so, we see Anakin acting more mature, he even gets a Padawan so the writers can be like “look how mature he is!!!“ Anakin gets darker hair, sharper and more defined features to make him look more stereotypically manly and rugged, they cast a voice actor whose voice is very deep compared to that of Hayden, his face has a ton of lines on it so he looks older, especially older than Padme because it’s unacceptable for a woman to be 4 years older than a guy in the relationship. He still cares about Padme, but it’s only as much as he cares about anyone else. Like he reacts the same to Padme in danger as he would react to Ahsoka being in danger or Obi-Wan in danger. So they toned down his feelings for Padme a lot. A guy shouldn’t be hopelessly in love, he needs to be tough and he needs to fight and if he cares about someone, he needs to care about everyone else on the same level. So they changed Anakin’s appearance and the way he loves Padme in order to fit in with the idea of the show and they favor Anakin the Jedi and the war general over Anakin the lover and the husband (that we see through most of the movies).
The entire series is also just about fighting and winning wars, whereas SW was always about love (even the OT yes) and the love story is all but gone.
Padme isn’t a strong character anymore, but she’s someone who needs to be saved always. She’s also nothing more than a Senator in the series and she only cares about doing her job as Senator. She doesn’t have time for Anakin and she doesn’t care about his needs or feelings over those of the Republic. They basically erase all of her development from AOTC (but also ignore how she was at the beginning of AOTC at the same time somehow and say she actually had a boyfriend in between TPM and AOTC) and then they also take away the fact that Padme doesn’t need constant saving, and most importantly, they erase how deeply she loves Anakin. So they basically erased half of Padme’s character because I guess people don’t like her when she loves Anakin.
Anidala is also very different than most relationships we see in the media. They’re very comfortable with each other, they almost never fight, and if they do they’re able to make up almost immediately, they’re happy with each other and they understand one another like no one else, and they’re willing to abandon everything for each other. And this is an odd relationship for adults to be having in the media. It’s more fitting for a relationship between teenagers or kids or even elderly people, but not for adults. For some reason, adults can’t love each other. They need to hate each other, but still be together somehow. They need to bicker and fight all the time to show that there’s conflict. They need a love triangle to show that they’re meant to be together.
You can see how Anidala is portrayed in the 2003 TCW that took place between the releases of AOTC and ROTS. The kept their romance as an important thing to both Anakin and Padme, they kept their romance as it was at the end of AOTC where both of them were very in love with each other and there was no unnecessary drama or love triangles.
And then you can look at how 2008 TCW portrays it 3? years after ROTS came out. I think I read it somewhere, or maybe it was an interview with George Lucas or the wiki, but they basically said that they made TCW to get people who didn’t like Anakin to like Anakin more. And that’s the dumbest thing you can do as a writer.
I feel like because of what TCW was (an attempt to “fix” the complaints that people had about the prequels), Anidala had no place in it and they gave us the worst version of it because romance between adults shouldn’t be healthy or wholesome and they’re not interesting or worth doing if they get along and there’s no love triangles.
So yeah, they most likely viewed Anidala as a chore.

Anidala Week 2021
Day 3: Mythology/Fairy Tales or Favorite Touches
A Serpent in the Garden of Eden
This is based on Hindu mythology about two lovers named Behula and Lakhindar. Some aspects of the original story have been tweaked :)
Once upon a time, two seraphs in the kingdom of heaven fell in love – a love so deep and profound they would attract the envy of the other angels who served in the court of gods. They were Vader and Amidala, the most beautiful out of all the angels.
Vader was descended from the bloodline of the Father himself, creator of the heavens. Vader with his enormous black wings – a black as sinful as midnight – was the angel of death. He could be as beautiful or terrible as the person whose soul he intended to take with him.
Amidala was descended from the Sister, the deity of light, love and purity. She was the queen of the celestial maidens. She inspired all to follow her and was well loved by the citizens of Zion. Her soft wings were as white and pure as snow itself.
This couple’s union caused quite a stir in court and attracted the attention of everyone. The gods felt they were an excellent match and gave them their blessing to marry. They lived together in harmony for centuries and had many children including the twins Luke and Leia, who became deities of the sun and the moon. But after a while, like most immortal beings, they grew weary of living eternal life and craved adventure. They desired to be reincarnated and sent to Earth so that they could find each other and fall in love with each other all over again. The gods granted them this request.
Amidala, being the elder of the two angels, was sent to earth first as the youngest daughter in a well-off family in Theed. Four years later, Vader was sent as the son of a woman named Shmi. Shmi Skywalker was a middle-aged woman who lived on her own in a city called Mos Espa. It so happened that her family had been cursed and killed by the god of snakes and destruction, Sheev due to a grudge he bore against the Skywalkers. He had spared her since she was a child at the time, intending her to become his devotee, but the iron-willed Shmi vowed never to worship the god who had taken away her family.
Sheev, a vindictive god, was affronted by her refusal and placed a curse on her. Any child born of her would never reach adulthood. Shmi went on to have six sons and all of them died under mysterious circumstances in their infancy and Shmi suspected it was from snakebites. Which made sense, of course, since snakes were associated with the conniving god and it was said that was how he took the lives of people who incurred his wrath.
When she found herself with child again, she briefly considered giving in to Sheev. This seventh son was conceived without a Father and Shmi suspected a divine intervention. The child was born with stars in his eyes that reflected infinite wisdom. He was too aware as a child and emitted a godly aura. Shmi knew he was no ordinary human child as soon as she held him in her arms. With his unnaturally bright blue eyes and soft golden curls, he looked like an angel descended from the heavens. Shmi named him Anakin.
Shmi was fiercely protective of her boy and always kept a close eye on him. Anakin was not to step a foot out of their extremely safeguarded house. Anakin, naturally because Vader’s essence still lived inside him, was born with the desire to explore worlds and make a name for himself. But he was aware that his mother’s overprotectiveness came from the sorrows she had endured so he (mostly) remained an obedient child. He dreamed of leaving his house once he reached the age of twenty-one for that would render the curse null and void.
As a child, he had discovered he was an excellent craftsman and a natural artist. He painted everything he had heard Shmi talk about the world beyond Mos Espa and even Tatooine. Sometimes, images would flash in his mind about a place where there was only happiness. These visions would also show him a strangely familiar face.
Anakin hadn’t seen many girls and most of the women he had encountered were his mother’s age but he knew she was the most beautiful girl in the world. He wasn’t certain she really existed and perhaps, she was just a figment of his imagination and he decided to bring her to life with a portrait. He deftly painted her big brown eyes, delicate features and soft brown hair. It proved to be his finest work.
Meanwhile, Shmi began looking for a potential bride for Anakin. She knew he was lonely and she knew she wouldn’t be around forever to look after him and Anakin had just turned twenty. He had been mostly nonchalant to the girls she had considered for him and spent an awful amount of time thinking about some fictitious girl of his dreams.
She went to Jira, the fruit seller, who lived nearby. The old woman knew every girl in vicinity and she had doted on Anakin since he was little. Shmi told herabout Anakin’s reluctance to marry.
“Don’t look so down, Shmi. I have good news for you,” Jira assured her. “I know about Anakin’s curse and it seems like we have found a solution. A month ago, I visited my sister in Theed and heard the most interesting news. The Naberries are devotes of Shiraya and on a recent visit to the temple, they have heard a prophecy about their second daughter. It is said she would never be a widow.”
Shmi rejoiced at the news. If Anakin were to wed this girl, that would secure his life. “Where can I find this girl?” she asked.
Anakin did not want to marry this girl. His mother had gushed about her countless qualities. Shmi believed she was as special as her own son.  She was well known in all of Theed for being wits, virtues and beauty. But he was growing weary of living life as a prisoner inside his own home and he longed to live a normal life. Maybe this Naberrie girl was the answer. He agreed to meet her.
All his initial reluctance faded once he saw her. It was her. The girl from his dreams.
Anakin immediately agreed to marry Padmé, who seemed just as much taken with him as he was with her.
On their wedding night, Shmi prepared a chamber for them and took every precaution to keep out any snakes that could slither in. Unfortunately, Sheev was one step ahead of her. He conspired with Watto, the builder, to sabotage their accommodation and leave a carefully concealed hole.
Anakin and Padmé were fast asleep on their wedding night, after conversing for hours about their shared visions and memories. The snake upon gazing at the couple felt a pang of regret and hesitated to bring misfortune upon the innocent young couple. Sheev then used his godly powers to compel the serpent and charmed Padmé to fall into a deep slumber. The snake caused the lamp kept next to the couple’s bed to topple and the spills of hot oil forced Padmé to wake and she found her husband bitten by the serpent. She took out the dagger she always carried with her and with she threw it at the snake, which caused its tail to be chopped in half.
Shmi rushed to her son’s side but it was too late. The poison was already in his system and within a few hours, Anakin was dead. Shmi was inconsolable with grief and so was Padmé after becoming a widow at such a young age.
As per the tradition, Anakin’s body was to be put on a raft and set to sail on the river as was done to people who died from snake bites. Padmé refused to accept his death.
All her life, she had known her husband would never die before her. She wished to be on the raft and accompany him. The people thought she had lost her mind from the grief. She waited for them to leave after the ritual and then sneaked in the raft and started sailing on the river. She prayed to the gods to not let the raft sink.
It was said if you went far enough, you would reach the heavens. And that exactly was Padmé’s intention. She would enter heaven and beg the gods to restore Anakin back to life.
The gods were impressed by her perseverance and put her through many trails along the way. Padmé, with Amidala’s essence in her, proved she was worthy and passed them all.
When she reached the heavens, the gods welcomed her.
“We are impressed by your devotion to your husband,” said Yoda, the god of wisdom.
“Then help me by bringing him back to life,” pleaded Padmé.
“It is too late,” said Sheev, ever the schemer. “You have taken too long to reach here. We can only resurrect him within 3 days of his death. You have taken a week.”
Padmé was heartbroken. She besought them to find another way for her to be reunited with her Anakin again or take her life as well.
“There is a way,” said Qui-Gon, the god of compassion, thoughtfully.
“We can make him a god again, as he was once. But he would be bound to serve another god for eternity. That is the price you must pay.”
Sheev was quick to step up and offer to be Anakin’s master and Shmi, realizing her son’s life was more important to her, allowed Anakin to be Palpatine’s apprentice.
Shaak Ti, the goddess of power, was impressed by Padmé and offered to take her in if she was willing to give up her mortal life. Padmé agreed without a second thought. Anakin was restored to life and he was euphoric on seeing his beloved at his side. He felt very fortunate on having such a capable woman as his wife. In the end, Padmé’s endurance and good faith was rewarded. The couple was welcomed back in heaven as gods, reunited after the adventure of a lifetime, and as the happiest of husbands and wives.

Hey :) for the wip ask game 8 and 10?
Hi, thanks for the ask! And thank you as well for the mention for Time to Shine Thursday, btw - I really appreciate it! :D
8. Describe your current WIP in a sentence.
Empire era Winter Soldier AU in which rebel Padme attempts to rehabilitate her brainwashed amnesiac husband from his time as Emperor Palpatine’s Sith assassin.
I’ve got a whole load of WIPs atm but I’ve put most of them on pause for the moment whilst I get on with my Whumpay fics (I only found out about it on May 1st so it’s been a bit of a mad dash to write them in time ha), so this ^ is for my newest Whumpay fic which I’m hoping to post at some point tonight if I finish on time.
10. How many WIPs do you actually have right now?
So, as I’ve mentioned, I’ve got quite a few WIPs. I basically have no impulse control when it comes to starting fics and I’ve ended up with like twenty WIPs that I’m trying to write simultaneously for other fandoms. I haven’t quite got to that point with my Star Wars fics yet though give me time and the fics that I’m working on atm are:
My various Whumpay fics - I’ve got about five Whumpay fics which I’m working on atm and a few more which I need to start so they’re taking a lot of my attention right now (honestly I’m surprised I’ve managed to churn out as many as I have in such a short time - I’m usually a really slow writer unless I’m in a very specific mood).
Raised as a Sith Anakin AU - This will probably end up being my longest WIP. It’s an AU based on the premise that Anakin wasn’t taken in by the Jedi after the events of TPM and was sent back to Tatooine, only to be taken by Palpatine and raised as a Sith in secret on Coruscant. I’m planning for it to be a long series of short fics spanning across the Clone Wars show timeline (which I’m taking a bunch of insane liberties with tbh) and I’m hoping that I should be able to get the first of them finished off and posted once I’m finished with Whumpay.
Winter Soldier AU - This is my long winter solider style AU - an extract of which I’ve posted here - in which Anakin doesn’t turn to the Dark Side during ROTS, but gets captured along with the rest of his family shortly after the Empire’s creation and brainwashed into becoming Palpatine’s Sith apprentice, and featuring sort of ghost Padme trying to get through to him via dreams. I’m planning to make this one into a series of fics too, though I don’t have as much of it written as the raised as a Sith Anakin AU yet.
Lars AU - I’ve seriously got to think up a better name for this AU, but the premise is that Order 66 happens and Anakin, though he doesn’t turn to the Dark Side, is captured by Palpatine when attempting to defend the Temple. Two years later, he manages to escape and crashes on Tatooine, only to be found and taken in by Owen and Beru, thereby meeting a young Luke who he’d thought had died when the Empire first formed. I’m not really sure where I’m going with this fic right now, but I’m planning on  a lot of father-son bonding, building up a relationship between the Lars and Anakin, and a bunch of stuff about Anakin’s Tatooine roots.
Shmi Lives AU - This one’s fairly self explanatory. It’s basically a fix-it fic where Anakin and Padme go to Tatooine a little earlier than canon and Anakin arrives at the Tusken camp in time to save Shmi’s life. This is actually the first Star Wars fic I started writing and I’ve got a fair chunk of it written - just nothing from the first chapter. :/
Zygerria Rewrite - This is basically what it says on the tin. I kind of wanted to do something with the Zygerria arc from TCW since I felt it brought up a lot of weighty subjects for our characters that never really got addressed. It’s Anakin-centric, though it does have some focus on the other characters as well, and mostly deals with how he copes with everything in the aftermath of the mission.
I’ve also got a couple of one-shots and requests that I’ve been working on, some focused on Anidala and some focused on Anakin & Ahsoka, which I should hopefully have finished soon.

Anyways, Anidala's marriage would have been...very interesting if Anakin hadn't been on the front for most of it. He is a clingy, possessive, mildly controlling lover (in the sense that he thinks he knows what is best for you and will want to protect you even if you don't like it, not in the like "this is what you can wear, this is who you can be friends with"). This is less apparent bc they spent so much time apart and Padmé rarely had to deal with any of his insecurities or whatever. He had little time to micromanage their marriage because he was always busy. But Anakin's borderline means he feels things very intensely. Everything is like, level 10, the good and the bad. He also has a very real fear of abandonment and loss, which is evident in his characterization later in the movies. Padmé is a very independent, strong and outspoken woman and while Anakin trusts her to look after herself, he would still have concerns if he knew all the things she got up to! It doesn't mean Anakin is a bad person or an abusive partner but learning to be less insecure in his relationship would take time and effort and support from those who love him.
Featuring his ships: @firefated @shesdaylight @libertydestined @hauntuned bc this is relevant to all those relationships too!

Time seemed to stop in the fields of Naboo. Anakin knew he had an important mission to focus on, and that anywhere, even out here, he had to keep his eyes open for potential threats. But here he was with his childhood love, laying on the grass side by side, watching the butterflies play in the sky and feeling the soft grass brush against his cheek.
He didn’t have to be anyone right now, not Anakin Skywalker: The Chosen One, problematic padawan, and the boy destined to bring balance to the force. It was a lot to put on anyone’s shoulder’s, much less a fragile 19 year old boy’s, and the stress had steadily been building into an unbridled rage as the Jedi Council continued to try and shelter him. They feared his power, he knew it, and they did not teach him everything he needed to know to be the best Jedi he could. They believed he would become too powerful, and the darkness within him would not be able to be controlled.
But Padme was not afraid of him. No, she was laying on her stomach beside him, chin propped in her hand, delicately tracing the plains of his face with her fingertips like he was made of glass. It tickled, but it was peaceful, and it allowed him to stare shamelessly into her golden-brown eyes.
She was beautiful.
She always had been to him, from the first moment he saw her in Watto’s shop. He was certain she was one of those angels he had heard about as a small child. Now, with the sunlight cast over her head like a halo and the flowing yellow sundress lighting up her soft features like a beacon, he knew he was right. She was an angel-- his angel, and he was never going to let her go.
He reached a hand up and cupped Padme’s face, wanting to feel her soft skin beneath his palm. She closed her eyes and leaned into his touch, smiling. Force, how he wanted to kiss those lips. She wanted to also, he could sense her longing, but it was something they had quickly discussed only once before, and she had just as quickly shut down.
Their love was forbidden, where he was a Jedi unable to form attachments and she was a Queen, her priorities having to lay anywhere but romance.
But up here, in the rolling fields of Padme’s home planet, no one was here to witness it. No one had to know that their two hearts yearned for each other. He simply could not hold himself back. He leaned up and gently framed her lips with his.
Padme was surprised. She tensed up, and for a second Anakin was filled with dread. Oh, how he’d messed up.
But then, miraculously, she relaxed, the hand gripping onto his shoulder releasing the cloth, and she returned the kiss. Hesitant, slow, soft. A question and an answer, a “should I?” and a “you should.” They played off of each other like a piano, fingers exploring as their mouths made music.
Anakin was ecstatic. It was only in his best dreams that she would accept his kiss, much less return it. But now she was getting onto her knees, holding his face between her hands, kissing him like he was her air. He had not planned for it to go any further.
“Padme,” he gently broke the kiss, but kept her close with a hand to the back of her neck. “We shouldn’t.”
“We shouldn’t,” she agreed, and leaned back in. Her mouth was saying one thing, but her body was saying another.
“Padme, I--”
She broke away this time, panting lightly. Her eyes were wild, wanting, and she bit her lip slyly.
“No one has to know,” she whispered, breath tickling his lips. “I need you. I love you.”
It was all Anakin needed to hear. He captured her lips in his again, flipping her over so that she was lying on the soft grass. His hands ran up and down her body, sending the words back at her through his touch-- I love you I love you I love you.
Things went unspoken then. He could feel her nervousness, mirrored by his own. They both had never done this before, but neither felt an ounce of guilt that they thought they should. It felt good, and magical, and right. It was another adventure that they were excited to take on together.
Anakin had never felt much peace in his life. Padme had never really had a time to rest. However, up in the fields of Naboo, where their worlds and bodies collided, sharing their love for the first time, they had everything they had ever dreamed of. This small sliver of time, where Anakin got to hold Padme and they got to bask in the bliss of each other’s bodies, was a memory Anakin was going to cherish through the rest of the hardships of his life. She was the one person who could make him see the light, this was the one instance he had felt at peace with the world, and just for this moment, he truly believed that he could make it.
While most of the time they felt like they were constantly running into brick walls regarding their love for each other, this was a promise. Padme could feel it in the way Anakin moved with her. They were promising themselves to each other— his angel, her protector— no matter what happened next. Something beautiful was born in that moment, one that even the force could not control.
An endless, forbidden love.

Reylo is Canon... It Isn’t the Plot
All right, before some of you will want to kill me: I have no doubts that Ben and Rey are meant to be together.
But I am also positive that Episode IX will not be a romantic love story.
I cannot say it often enough: despite the parallels, Star Wars is not Pride and Prejudice. Kylo Ren will not prostrate himself at Rey’s feet saying how sorry he is and asking her to tell him what he is supposed to do now and how she wants him to be.
The title says it: Pride and Prejudice is about a couple. His fault is the pride, hers is the prejudice. Elizabeth had judged Darcy quickly, believing everything George Wickham told her although she hardly knew him. Darcy had to tell her his own version of Wickham’s account in writing before she understood that there was more to it than she thought, and she felt ashamed immediately.
“How despicably have I acted!” she cried. “I, who have prided myself on my discernment! I, who have valued myself on my abilities! Who have often disdained the generous candour of my sister, and gratified my vanity, in useless or blameable distrust. How humiliating is this discovery! - Yet, how just a humiliation! Had I been in love, I could not have been more wretchedly blind. But vanity, not love, has been my folly. - Pleased with the preference of one, and offended by the neglect of the other, on the very beginning of our acquaintance, I have courted prepossession and ignorance, and driven reason away, where either were concerned. Till this moment I never knew myself.” (Chapter 36.)
This is a major plot point; Pride and Prejudice is not a Cinderella story where a guy wants a girl who is socially below him, but first must overcome his arrogance to realize that she’s the right one for him. Elizabeth, in her own way, is as flawed as Darcy is.
Tumblr media
Please read Jane Austen’s novel again if you don’t believe me. I love the book but it hurts me to see it so often misunderstood. The author’s intentions are clear: man and woman both need to grow and mature one through the other. As for me personally, I see nothing romantic in a guy crawling before a girl asking her to permit him to become her sugar daddy, pardon my blunt words.
So, even if we would assume Ben and Rey are like Darcy and Elizabeth, we would have no situation where the woman is morally high above the guy. Man and woman are equally right and wrong in both stories.
I agree with many fans that Ben and Rey need to finish what Padmé and Anakin had started. However, “Reverse Anidala” does not quite hit the nail on the head. One couple was doomed from the start, whereas the other two will have a future; but Rey cannot save Ben from himself. Padmé tried to do the same with Anakin and it ended in disaster - not through any fault of her own but because it is not a woman’s task to redeem a guy. Anakin obsessed about her to the point that it drove him to madness and ultimately caused his descent to hell. No woman ever ought to be loved to the point that a guy will do anything out of fear of losing her. Apart from that, Padmé did not know Anakin’s intentions, and if she had, she never would have wanted what he did.
Tumblr media
What was Padmés and Anakin’s tragedy? They knew and loved one another since childhood, they had a romance, they got married and wanted to have children; they loved one another beyond death.
But:
1) Padmé did not have the Force; thus, she never understood the conflict in her husband’s heart, but it also never tempted her to do evil. Rey and Ben have a telepathic bond through the Force, both know well how each other’s minds work. But Rey needs to know the temptation of the Force in order to understand that she judged Ben although she never was in his shoes.
2) We hardly see Padmés own parents (so I assume they play no major role in her life), and Anakin loses his mother at age nine: both of them ardently wish for a family. Padmé had relinquished her mandate as queen of Naboo because she wanted to get married and have children of her own. Anakin declared the happiest day of his life when his wife told him she was pregnant. Their tragedy was that their children were born, but that they could not be parents, never actually have the family they desired.
Tumblr media
The Skywalker family was meant to bring balance to the Force, and there can only be balance once the family wounds are finally healed. The last scion of the Skywalkers needs a family of his own, a happy and united one.
Ben needs to be redeemed; Anakin had cursed himself killing the Jedi padawans, and the last person we saw in Episode VIII was a Force-sensitive child. That is why I am positive that they are his redemption, not Rey.
Tumblr media
Rey’s role is not to be Ben’s savior but to be the mother to these children who, like her, were abandoned. That is what’s important about her provenience, not that she might be a Skywalker or Kenobi or whatever else.
Ben is not meant to become Rey’s pet on a leash but the Good Father opposite to Darth Vader, the Dark, the evil Father. Ben is the last scion of the Skywalkers and the protagonist always becomes the central figure, finally choosing his own fate, only in the third installment of each trilogy. Essentially this is his story, not Rey’s. Adam Driver has Vader’s stature but his features are the opposite of Vader’s creepy mask. If you watch a few other movies with him, you quickly realize that he very often deals with children, and that he does it well. And there has never been a Star Wars film or series without a father figure until now. Who else is it supposed to be? I hope not Palpatine. 😉
Conclusion: we are not following a romantic couple here but a future mother and father. If Ben and Rey “only” declare undying love for one another, not much will be won. There is a lot more at stake here than romance. The strong chemistry between the protagonists is not leading to some passionate scenes with the lovers saving the galaxy through their devotion for one another; honestly, I am not even sure that Rey is requiting Ben’s feelings yet. They are almost strangers and politically arch-enemies, the exact opposite of Padmé and Anakin. Two actors with an intense sensual aura were necessary to make the bond between them palpable, although in the story’s context it stems from the Force.
I know I am speculating. But the saga’s themes are clear, and I have studied them for almost two years now. I would be very surprised if things went differently after everything that has happened in the saga before. You don’t need leaks to see where things are going, all you have to do is listen.
I am 99 % sure that Ben and Rey will be together and happy in the end. But I am also quite sure that they will have much more than that - a purpose, most probably taking care of children who were trapped and alone the way they were, each in his own way.
Remember how The Last Jedi gave Reylo’s so much more than they hoped for? The Rise of Skywalker will do the same.
In any case, I have my fingers crossed. 😉
P.S. I had already written about this at length some time ago, in case somebody is interested in more details: Homecoming of the Children
