between us ep. 1-3 (without having watched uwma)

In hindsight very funny how I was able to ignore all the snuggly countdown posts and then get immediately pulled into ep. 1 of between us.

At the moment this is my feel good show, I know there is drama on the horizon, but New and the crew really managed to make the storyline feel fresh inside the well-used university romance genre.

I adore Win and Team as the main characters. Besides great chemistry and very good acting I love how their hook-up leads to their relationship evolving while also being the catalyst for both of them to have to confront and deal with fears and trauma. Win’s quiet but confident attitude is captivating and Team is both a brat and also the cutest.

Some aspects from the past episodes I liked most

1. Their physical reaction to each other whenever they are close to each other

2. New upping his game as the director. One part I especially enjoyed was the cutting short of the first sex scene and us seeing Team struggle with feeling stronger feelings than just for a hook up to us seeing how softly Win caressed Team’s cheek and it clicking how confusing it must be to be treated that softly and precious during a one night stand.

3. The communication. They (mostly Team) do have miscommunications but not on accident but because they choose not to talk about certain things (yet). But when it comes to important bits they are very open and I adore Win for reading Team so well and sticking with him until Team can sort his feelings better.

4. The little chuckle Win did after Team placed the tiniest kiss on his lips. Every move and reaction in that scene was pure perfection but the chuckle was the most honest and joyful thing I have heard in a long time. So sweet.

5. The madness of having a side couple with major super natural elements: just pure unintentional comedy.

6. The pacing and nuance with which they introduce Win and Team’s respective struggles.

7. Prem needs to release the soundtrack asap because I am obsessed with the song.

Some things I am worried about

1. Manow getting sidelined. In ep. 2 we already got bits that were refered to but not shown (her noodle date) and I really wanted to see that. Now that we get even more couples I am worried she won’t even have as much screen time as the other side couples. And I don’t think her lovestory was prominently featured in uwma either.

2. not worried in terms of the series but it boggles my mind how so many reactors are so confused about why Team avoids Win and the “we break up” line. had to get it out her since it would be silly to get mad at the reactors for it.

But the series flows nicely so far, I tend to skip some of Win’s brothers and ABC content but to each their own.

3. related to point 3: looks like we are in for some classic misunderstanding next week. tbh not too worried, i might enjoy it in their style regardless how cliche they are going to go about it.
