A/N: I imagined this with someone completely different (like someone I know irl) in mind and I just had to put this out here. Just emptying my head out into the void because maybe speaking it into existance will help... Idk you guys, I think i’m in love.
You were standing on a balcony watching the sunset, a cool breeze wafting through your hair. You were up high enough to see a good chunk of the city and its night lights, the growing darkness making them appear more and more like man-made stars. You thought back on your day with your best friend and it made you smile.
“Let’s play a game,” you heard an oh-so familiar voice say behind you. Turning around, you saw Young K rubbing the last bit of sleep from his eyes. His tousled hair from his nap on your couch made you grin with amusement.
“What game did you have in mind?” you asked as he took his place next to you on the balcony.
“Truth or dare,” he grinned, leaning his arms on the ledge.
“Ok,” you smiled in return. “You first.”
“Truth or dare?” he asked.
“Truth,” you answered quickly.
“Do you think there will come a time where we’ll have to go our separate ways and.. forget about each other?” Young K asked quietly.
You stared at him for a second, locking gazes with each other, before replying. “No,” you started, shaking your head. “Even if our lives were heading in different directions, I’d want you to be my constant. I think we’d find time for each other. I honestly couldn’t imagine a life without you.”
He dropped his gaze and smiled at the ground. “Yeah,” he said. “I couldn’t imagine life without you either.”
“Truth or dare?” you asked.
Young K turned to stare at the city. “Truth,” he replied.
“Where do you go when you want to be alone? Your secret, special place that you haven’t shown anyone, not even me?” you asked.
He gave a quick chuckle and dropped his head before answering. “Believe it or not, it’s in a garden. In one of the city’s parks. If you go past some of the thicker copses of trees, there’s a field with an old gazebo and some overgrown topiaries. It’s nice and peaceful and I can be alone with my thoughts.”
“Will you take me there sometime?” you asked without thinking. Young K looked at you in surprise and you quickly scrambled for words. “It’s just... we’ve known each other for so long and yet I feel like I don’t know the real you. The you that you don’t want to show, that you only let out when you’re alone. The person you probably don’t realize exists.”
Young K reflected upon your words for a while, a small smile forming on his face. After a while he nodded and said, “Sure, I’ll share that place with you. But only if you show me the real you as well.”
You gave a small chuckle and replied, “Deal.”
The two of you stood in silence for a while, taking in the faint sounds of the busy streets deep into the city. You felt warm and at ease in his presence, as you always had, the silence between you never feeling awkward.
“Truth or dare,” Young K spoke up, breaking the silence.
You thought about it for a moment before you gave him a cheeky smile, “Dare.”
Young K bit his lip and turned to you. “Kiss me,” he said, his cheeks turning a slight shade of pink.
Your eyes widened in shock and your cheeks mimicked his shade. Your heart began to race as you leaned towards him, his hand cupping your cheek right before your lips touched. Your hand searched for his free hand and laced fingers with him as you deepened the kiss. It was warm and sweet, giving you butterflies in your stomach and leaving you feeling breathless after you parted. Young K laid his forehead down on yours as you both caught your breaths, one hand squeezing yours while the other played with a strand of your hair.
“I’ve been wanting to do that for a long time,” he whispered his confession to you.
You looked up at him, gazing deep into his eyes. “What else have you been wanting to do?” you asked breathlessly. His lips curled into a smirk before leading you back inside and turning off the balcony light, one less star burning in the city’s nightly cosmos.
