So as far as the “The Kids are Alright” AU obviously I have to ask if Jon is, in any way, the Archivist, given he clearly doesn’t work at the Magnus Institute yet or is he just a normal kid that let his experience with Mr. Spider pull him into all this?

Hmm this question ties to a thing I've been considering in the AU on what the Entities are like. Honestly I don't think the Entities are an actual thing here for now? At least, not like in canon. This AU was first thought of as a lighthearted Highschool AU (I just needed a vehicle for Jon, Gerry, Agnes Friendship that didn't have me try figuring out canon timelines) so literally everyone is in a "Regular Highschool" setting. Elias is an English Teacher, The Archives Crew are a Library/Book Club, Gertrude is the world's grumpiest librarian, Agnes is not wax. The Leitners are the only really weird thing here.

As for Jon and Mr. Spider, well Mr. Spider will definitely make an appearance. I just imagine it happening in the middle of the story as a turning point for when investigating Leitners go from "fun after-school adventure" to "oh no these are actually dangerous artifacts that need to be destroyed." Sorry Jon! At least in this universe Gerry and Agnes will be able to support you in the aftermath!
