Aaah tysm!
Okay SO:
One of the most important things in my au is that Jason makes it out of the warehouse just before it explodes. He's rushed off to the Batcave, but unfortunately even without being blown up his injuries are too severe, and he's pronounced dead.
By Leslie Thompkins.
Everyone, even Bruce, legitimately thinks he's dead. There's a memorial for him in the cave and everything.
So Stephanie is still treated the same.
After a very long and arduous recovery, Jason eventually comes back to Gotham. Unfortunately, he comes back right after Steph gets fired as Robin. Everyone is too focused on Jason coming back from the "dead"/their own issues to even really remember her, which just makes everything that much worse.
(Important note: The Joker's torture permanently disables Jason. He's unable to return to the field, but eventually goes on to become a protege/partner to Oracle under the moniker Apollo.)
So Jason Todd escapes The Joker.
Stephanie Brown does not escape Black Mask.
She comes back to life (somehow. Idfk. Just pretend Superboy Prime punching reality has like. Really long lasting shockwaves or something) and digs herself out of her grave much like Jason does in canon.
Talia al Ghul, who is in Gotham after dropping Damian off with Bruce, runs into a freshly resurrected Stephanie Brown.
Blah blah League of Assassins, blah blah Lazarus Pit, blah blah anger.
Just like in canon, Crystal Brown only recovered and got better when Steph was gone. Seeing as Stephanie (unlike in canon) is actually allowed to angry and upset about stuff, this, once again, just makes everything so much worse.
She goes about everything in a pretty different way than Jason does, namely she doesn't try to get revenge on the Bats, as she didn't have that same level of connection to them that Jason did. So Titans Tower/attacking Tim, teaming up with Hush, all that stuff/some equivalent never happens. In fact, she specifically goes out of her way to avoid them, unlike canon Jason who goes out of his way to antagonize them. Her main goal is to take out Black Mask.
Due to all the combined factors, nobody realizes it's Stephanie until it's far too late.
Cue life ruining angst.
I feel the need to clarify that it is not, in fact, a second Robin Steph au. The main difference in my au is that Jason's death was faked and Steph's wasn't, which changes everything and nothing at the same time. Tee hee I love angst ❤️
Oh that is a delicious twist and I'm rotating the implications in my mind. Did Bruce know about Jason's fake death or was it real to him? Did he treat Steph the same way he did in canon even without Jason's death hanging over her? Is the the first batkid he truly got killed? I love it

hey! i love that line in your bio(?) AND THE BACKGROUND it's the one of the best photos of moon jellies i've ever seen!!
i'm also deeply enamoured by physics. i actually don't know why i'm here. i think the jellies captivated me when i clicked on your page. i guess you just seem interesting, so
Tumblr media
any interests?? or if you want an actual question umm i guess
a strange/interesting thought you've had recently
a fanfic/book that broke yu & put yu back together (either/both)
you're favourite character from ice age (feel like that says a lot about someone idk)
random fact that yu know/found out
something that made you question the perception of homosepians
something yu like that might be considered weird/strange/odd/arcane. eg. i like tide pools, tiny things and the unusual peculiarity that is the mad hatter and all things Alice in Wonderland
the fragility of morality
oh! and something mundane but meaningful, like your comfort movie or something
OMG HI THIS IS SO SURREAL I literally love your blog also the profile pic is amazing
Thank you so much!! Im glad my jellies captivated you :) here is a lobed comb jelly for you
Tumblr media
If I didn't know the steps of a relationship, would I still try to dance them?
For fanfic: Alice, Look at Me because it was the first Nobleflower fic I read and it DESTROYED ME
My fav character has to be Sid the Sloth...he is my queen
Cats meows are actually learned behaviors to be able to communicate with humans. They dont meow often with other cats but they learned it gets them things from humans.
Reading blogposts on Tumblr as well as poetry from different time periods. People have never really changed. We still love and lust and long for that one person. Its nice to have this sense of certainty.
I think death and theories about the afterlife is super interesting! I have been asking all my friends about their theories and one of my friends said I was going to cause a frat boy to have an existential crisis and go on a killing rampage if I bring it up at parties haha
oh boy don't get me started on morality. Who decides the scale? If someone who loves me saw all of the terrible things I have done in my lifetime would they still look at me the same? Can the good things you do erase or outweigh the bad? Are we born pure or are we born dammed? I'm inclined to believe that morality is useless because what is the point of laying awake at night trying to weigh all my actions, but my self-hatred argues that if I claim to be a good person then I am ignoring everyone i have ever hurt. Not to get political, but I think that the idea of morality has been used to control people way too many times for me to fully believe in it but I do think it is a fascinating idea :)
My comfort movie is Kiki's Delivery Service but I have to stop it before the end. I don't think I've seen the ending in years.

So there's a new Dragon Age coming out, and as someone who's owned the first three for literal decades at this point without ever touching them, I figured I'd get caught up
My broad thoughts: this is the first time I've seen a franchise go through puberty (disclaimer, I don't actually know anything about the development history of Dragon Age, these are all just my impressions from my mostly blind playthrough. I didn't look up anything story wise, but I did do a little research into builds just to make sure the combat got a fair shake)
Starting Origins, you can clearly see that it wants to be an ARPG, but was realized by a bunch of guys that had only done CRPGs up to that point. You've got these flashy cinematic finishers, a camera that can technically be zoomed out to a more traditional top-down view but prefers to sit over your shoulder, and a tactics menu that basically means you don't have to micro your party at all if you don't want to (maybe you do on higher difficulties, idk, I went through on normal because the thing kept crashing and didn't wanna have to deal with constantly redoing fights). I can feel the Baldur's Gate energy in it, but I can also feel some guy saying "and we want it to be more dramatic and dynamic" while a copy of Dragon's Dogma floats over his shoulder like a stand. Lore-wise, it's a darker, lower-magic setting, which I honestly think works pretty well for it looking the way it does. You've got your occasional crazy armor or fantasy-ass sword, but everything else was pretty grounded, and I definitely got the feeling that I wasn't all that stronger than the enemies, despite being a diet witcher. That being said, it's an older game, so it's pretty easy to break. I played a Blood Mage/Arcane Knight build, and basically every single encounter was solved by stunlocking the entire room to death, which somewhat ruined the immersion of these guys being an actual problem. Maybe if the Templars weren't such dicks about it this would've all been solved sooner.
On to Dragon Age 2, and boy oh boy can you tell this game was made in the early 10s. Everything has gotten spkier and edgier, you've got more impractical armor and weapons, the opening shot is your sister's tits bouncing around as you run through a battlefield, and the game tries to start you as an unremarkable white guy with a goatee and a shitty haircut (I shut that shit down real fast, though I didn't really customize lady Hawke either since from what I understand the customization doesn't carry over). You also see it crawling a bit further towards ARPG territory, now even your auto attacks are flashy and stylish, especially if you're a Rogue, but the bones are still basically the same. You still attack on a timer, you can still click to move, and there's still a pause button. The AI has also improved, I don't think I even looked at the tactics menu and I still got through with minimal difficulty. Also, they retconned a wholeass race, with the Qunari graduating from "humans but bigger" to these cool gray horned dudes. Definitely an improvement, no I am not at all biased, don't look at my Qunari inquisitor lady and my Dranei Death Knight lady and my Au'ra Mahcinist Lady this ain't about her. Also turning the duelist trainer from Origins into a slutty pirate lady was... a choice, but honestly I liked her character, and her, Aveline, and Merrill were my core party members through most of it (still though, put some pants on girl, cmon). This is also where my first actual complaint comes in, that being that they seemed to think the best way to add difficulty was to just swarm you with guys. I don't mind big fights, but having to chew through two or three waves of enemies with every single combat encounter got a bit old by the end.
And now, Inquisition, where we're almost there, it's so close I can taste it. You finally click to attack, you have a jump button, the tactics menu is basically gone, but it's still clinging to its CRPG roots, the pause button haunting your hotbar like a ghost of real-time-with-pause past. I haven't noticed any dramatic changes lore-wise like I did with 2, but they did manage to find some (slightly) more reasonable armor designs and thus far none of my party members are running around half-naked. An overall improvement, and while I'm not done with this one yet I've been enjoying it so far. From what I hear, the new one is finally a proper ARPG, and all I can say is holy hell it took them long enough

Helloooo my love, I've been thinking about you and idk when you're gonna answer this BUT I have many many things to talk to you about!!!!
I believe you're almost done Doom, congratulations!! It really is a fun drama, I enjoyed it and I hope you aren't disappointed by the last episode <3 how is Goblin coming along? Or did you drop that one?
One thing I absolutely love about you is that whenever you consume media, you pick it apart and see the good themes and see the narratives and I love it when you do that!! I don't believe you are looking for recommendations but I do have a few to give you if you're ever bored <3
vincenzo (kdrama), extraordinary you (kdrama), just between lovers (kdrama), hometown cha cha cha (kdrama), first love hatsukoi (jdrama), alice in borderland (jdrama), tune in for love (kmovie), your eyes tell (jmovie), better days (cmovie)
all of these I would LOVE to hear your analysis on and most of them offer the MOST brain rot potential, however if I have to choose one to shove at you it is alice in borderland because I just finished the second season (8 eps per season) and like the THEMES are there and you won't get it till you watch it but I WANT TO SCREAM TO YOU ABOUT IT ITS SO GOOD!!!!
So idk if me coming here and suggesting it will do anything, but please please please watch alice in borderland it is soooo worth it one of the best asian dramas I have EVER seen I cannot speak about it enough THE ENDING!!!! (It is pretty violent/gory just fyi)
anyways merry Christmas <3
Hellooooo Lindsay dearest! It's always good to see you and hear from you! How are you doing? I hope you're well and also have a very Merry Christmas!!! (It's like two minutes past midnight here it's technically Christmas now).
I am almost finished with Doom!!! It really was fun, I honestly doubt I'll be disappointed if the quality is the same as the rest of it. I am technically also still watching Goblin but I got distracted watching Arcane (which I ADORE) and then also the 2007 War and Peace miniseries and now I'm home with my family so I have less time etc etc so I may not get back to Goblin for a while, but it's SO GOOD I'm definitely going to finish it at some point I promise you.
I'm very glad my analysis is fun to read, even when a lot of it is just me going AAAHHHHHHHH a lot about things 😂😂, and I am ALWAYS looking for recs even if it'll take me years to get to them. All of those sound very interesting, I was already looking at Vincenzo and hometown cha cha cha but I haven't looked at the others! I love a bit of brain rot, and I do need a bit of brain rot in my life at all times, keeps me unstable enough to be funny, so I'll definitely think about looking at Alice in Borderland next!!! And I'm fine with gore so it sounds perfect!
I'm afraid I don't have many TV recs right now for you because you've watched The Bear, although if you haven't seen Arcane I would absolutely recommend it (ignore the fact it's based on League of Legends I do not see it I am looking away). OH and also I want to read the locked tomb series but I haven't yet, so take this with a pinch of salt but I DID read the first two chapters on Tor and it's so funny and the writing style is so good, so idk I'll let you know but it's shaping up to be good.
Love ya and merry Christmas again! 💖💖💖💖💖💖
