unprompted pmd oc lore thats sorta based on rescue team dialogue cause im thinking about it: the proper pronoun to use when you don't know a pokemon's specific gender is actually "it/its", not "they/them". In some cases it's considered disrespectful to refer to some legendary pokemon as anything other than "it".
#its lore im on and off on bc i know obviously here its usually an insult and i dont wanna come across as being insulting#but at the same time i wanna have some different ways the pokemon handle gender identity and whatnot and i think this is fun#considering theres a little canon basis from rescue team#also to reflect this im gonna hit more pokemon with the ''it/its'' pronoun beam bc theres much less stigma ofc#i do hope no one takes it as an insult cause like. i get it trust me ive been derogatorily referred to as an ''it'' multiple times#but this is kinda me reclaiming it a bit and i wanna try and normalize it/its pronouns in a positive way bc plenty of people use them#and then get accused of being insulting and whatnot#but i wanna sorta show that gender roles are different over there#and i think while i use real labels here for recognition's sake i do think they have different definitions and terms#idk..... also feel free to add some suggestions too cause this stuff is interesting to me#also to be clear ''they'' is still a common pronoun for nby pokemon#also i think im saying this so people arent jumpscared when atlas and other prequel mons call castor ''it''when they first meet him#its bc they arent aware of his gender identity (and neither is he yet) not bc theyre insulting him lskdfjsdlf
