The Chronicles of Amicae would make for such a good movie adaptation. In theory anyways.
Like, I fully recognized that in practice the story would get butchered like every other book-to-movie adaptation because so much of Laura's inner dialogue would be missing, but I can fully picture the action scenes and the cinematography and it has the potential to be absolutely immaculate.
I feel like Laura would get a bit jankier because the viewer would be missing her side of things, and things like her interactions with Charlie would be missing a lot of context (assuming they wouldn't axe his character to save time).
I think her relationships with the other characters would have more potential for translating to film because there's a lot more physical events where the characters connect rather than so much of their initial interactions depending on backstory that is tough to fit into a movie's narrative.
In the Hunger Games for example, some people who have only watched the movies are skeeved out by Katniss and Peeta's relationship because the whole boy-and-girl-have-to-fight-to-the-death-but-wait-now-they're-in-love-maybe dynamic seems too abrupt, and a lot of that comes from the movies not being able to convey Katniss' thought process properly.
But in The Chronicles of Amicae, Clae and Laura have only known each other for less than a year, and they've only just met Okane, so we get to see their relationships grow and most of their interactions even if they're non-verbal can be easily understood from just visuals. Moments like when Laura steps in to help Clae fight an infestation even though he told her to stay back, or when Okane feels safe enough with Laura to show her his scars, are pretty straight forward with their message, and these scenes are visually oriented enough to translate well into film.
One of these days, this trilogy will gain more fans and will get the shitty adaptation it deserves and I will be getting front row seats where ever it's being shown!
