What are your favorite video games?
I'll blabber on if you don't mind :]
I like an assortment of games when I do have the time to play. Most are crpgs, fps, and old games, but these I treasure (some for childhood reasons, and others you know the drill):
Crpgs: Planescape: Torment, Baldur's Gate I & II, and Disco Elysium. Would love to play the SSI Gold Box games someday.
Rpgs: King's Field I-III (the Japanese I-III), Dark Souls, Deus Ex, System Shock II, and Fallout: New Vegas.
Rts: Age of Empires I & II and Command & Conquer: Red Alert (forgot which one; been so long since I've played them).
Sid Meier's Civilization I & II for tbs.
The original Rainbow Six and SWAT 4 for tactical shooters. I also loved Arma 3 for what little time I spent on that game.
Fps: Half-Life, CS 1.6, Stalker Series, Battlefield 1942, Unreal Tournament 1999, Ion Fury, Ultrakill, and Devil Daggers.
Gran Turismo 1997 and 2008 for racing games.
Other games I really love: Dwarf Fortress, UnReal World, Kenshi, Fear & Hunger 1 & 2, NaissanceE, Voices of the Void, SimCity 2000, Transport Tycoon (now OpenTTD), and Starflight.
That's it. Nothing more.

Good afternoon, Kiku! Well, I mean. It's afternoon for me. I don't know if it is for you though. Good [time of day], Kiku! I hope your migraine is gone!
Oh! My best friend is also into horror core rap so I've heard a few songs and I think it's very cool! Also that's so awesome that you and your brother processed deer together!
Is there a specific coffin you've picked out for your naps? That sounds Very gothic and aesthetically pleasing haha. Vincent Valentine-core :P
My best friend and I also love rats!! Rats really deserve more appreciation. They're like pocket sized buddies! I'd love to own some in my lifetime!
My fiance and I have discussed that when we get married, we'd love to do so in a medieval museum, hopefully one with an exhibit on torture instruments. This sounds like something that might be of interest to you :D
Have you seen the show Chernobyl on HBO? My uncle's girlfriend has HBO Max and they let me borrow their account to watch, it was super informative! And emotional, since you definitely grow attached to the people and their stories.
I also loved Nancy Drew as a kid! I used to play those HerInteractive games on my computer soooo much, they were super fun! And I still have a collection of Trixie Belden books that I was very obsessed with too.
Do you have a favorite Fallout game? I've only played Fallout 4 and 76, so I don't know much about the others. But from what I've experienced, the games are SUPER addictive. Like, I've definitely spent hours exploring and pretty much RP'ing while playing :P
-Special Interests Anon 🐭
Hi special interest anon ☺️
Kiku's migraine is gone (although it will probably return lol) it is currently noon.
Oh cool ☺️ Kiku loves meeting other people who have heard it. It was really cool and inforative and also useful because Kiku's hubby hunts too.
Kiku does not have a specific coffin picked out. Just knows want a coffi not a casket lol. Black wood with a super soft purple liner would be great tho.
Kiku likes mice a bit more than rats due to some traumatic experinces with rats, but Kiku still thinks rats are awesome and very cute.
Kiku has actually been through a torture museum before (it was small but really cool). But Kiku doesn't remember where it was.
Kiku hasn't seen Chernobyl but wants to. It sounds super cool. Kiku has read about one scientist who went way to far with his testing of a radioactive isotope and that ended badly lol.
Kiku had one Nancy Drew game, but Kiku isn't sure Kiku ever played it.
Kiku's favorite Fallout game is Fallout: New Vegas, but Kiku also really likes 3 and 4. Kiku hasn't played 76 (and honestly doesn't know if can/ want to. Kiku not very good at multiplayer shooters, everything moves too fast for Kiku to process). Kiku really wants to play the other games, Fallout 1 and 2, and Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel and Fallout tactics: Brotherhood of Steel. Kiku has also played Fallout shelter but it doesn't hold Kiku's attention for long most of the time.
Kiku is currently hyperfocused on Fallout, especially New Vegas. Kiku actually has a Fallout blog, @courier-sixx but it's not completely sfw because of the content of the game lol.

My time in Massachutes is over, here's what I did
did half of a World History course in Coursera. Signed up for other courses in history and philosophy
Finished the early A1 Spanish Duolingo course
Watched some more videos on marxist theory, I have a greater understanding of it now
Read parts of Why Does He Do That?, Women, Class and Race by Angela Davis, The Catalyst, Braiding Sweetgrass, some texts by Marx, and others Also read Slay (fiction)
Watched Les Miserables, Catch Me If You Can, Dungeon Meshi, some of the X-men cartoon, some of The Boys, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, V for Vendetta, and others.
Played Fallout NV and The Sims
Explored several cafes and stores in the city I stayed in
Some notes:
I'm a lot better at starting things than finishing them. Obviously. I've accepted this part about myself, which is why I've been able to read a lot when I used to read so little
My biggest issue now is finishing things. I think a big concern of mine is forgetting the stuff I've read, which makes me want to take notes on what I've read. However, I think this is contributing to my anxiety around reading at all, which is why I don't finish things. As for watching, it's still like exercising a new muscle to consume stories I'm unfamiliar with after years of only consuming fanfiction and barely any new media at all. Learning to p¡rate has made a world of difference in the amount of media I'm exposed to, and I'm now catching up on decades of not being able to see any of the same media as my peers. Fallout New Vegas is the first first person shooter I've ever played! It's the 3rd video game I've ever played!
I'm going to try and finish some of the ebooks I'm reading, but I don't have a specific order I want to finish them in. Or order I want to watch stuff in.
Ebook reading list:
Whipping Girl by Julia Sorreno
How The World Really Works by Vaclav Smil
Understanding the War Industry by Christian Sorensen
X-men Comics - Claremont Years
Irl Reading List: I got a book about quantum physics and non-locality from my hometown library, will probably try to finish reading it before school starts again.
Watch List:
Rest of Xmen-97
Rest of The Boys
Everything Everywhere All At Once
Cowboy BeBop
Gaming list: Finishing Fallout NV and then playing Disco Elysium. Sims comes naturally to me
Realistically, I'm not going to get through everything on this list. Most of these I want to watch with my partner and I can't for almost the entire rest of the summer. But I'll hopefully be able to add more books to my "have read" list, since right now almost all of the books I read I DNF.
One more thing
Finish World History Course
Do Russian history course
Hopefully I will at least make progress.
I will also be watching movies/shows with spanish subtitles when I can, and will continue my spanish duolingo, but I'm allowing myself to make slow progress on it. I can form basic sentences and I can read snippets of text, but I will probably need to keep going at it for a long time (maybe a year?) before I can start understanding more than a few words here and there. Big fan of spanish-speaking tumblr users though, it's fun trying to read their posts even with my limited knowledge of Spanish.

When Fallout 4 released, it didn't have a very good rating from Fallout fans because it was less of a RPG than 3 and New Vegas, and more of a shooter.
THE THING IS I LOVE SHOOTER GAMES but I also feel like FO4 gets a bad reputation for "not being an RPG." Because it very much IS. It might not have some of the more intense infrastructure that NV has, especially in the main story, but I've had 13 different Fallout OCs and I've played 13 very different games because of it. I'm in a few other Fallout spaces on other apps and I see a lot of NV stans shit on FO4 for the lack of RPG but I don't think it's lacking. I think it's just more focused on combat and settlement building (as opposed to FNV.) But there's a lot of RPG elements that I think FO4 has that get overlooked.

Well, I think I've done everything I can be bothered doing this playthrough. By that I mean, I did most everything except Dead Money and Lonesome Road, because I didn't have the patience for those slogs.
This is definitely an unpopular opinion but the DLC's for New Vegas are too story driven to be endlessly replayable, and frankly I just don't even like Lonesome Road. I always prefer my characters to be blank slates, and I hate the concept of having someone from the past I've forgotten show up and tell me what my character did before I played them. It's the same way I hate the intro to Fallout 4 giving me a spouse and child.
It also just makes no sense to me that Ulysses is so mad at you when there's no possible way you could have known what was going to happen to the divide, and also you literally have no memory of it now anyway. He's just kind of an asshole, and the thought of having to skip his endless dialogue puts me off replaying it. Not that the linear corridor shooter was very enticing to begin with.

Hey so I’ve never played a fallout game in my life but am interested in starting! What game should I start with? Do you have any newbie tips?
hey!!! i'm flattered you'd ask me, i really love getting messages like this 🥺 thank you
full disclaimer, i've only played fallout 4 and a tiny bit of new vegas, so my opinion might be skewed!
new vegas is the popular choice when picking a fallout game to play, but my experience was this: i was incredibly excited to play and i LOVED the beginning quest, it was immersive and a great start to the game. however, i quickly became frustrated because i had NO idea where i was going after that and ended up wandering into some high level territories without realizing it (until, of course, i got obliterated by the enemies there). my advice with new vegas would be to do what i intend to do, look up tips online to kinda nudge yourself in the right direction!
now, fallout 4 was the first fallout game i played and the only one i've finished. it's not That great of a game but i really love the story and experiences you can have! i'll give the same advice i gave for new vegas: look up tips and guides. i'm bad at shooters, and when i first picked up this game i couldn't get ANYWHERE because i sucked so bad. so i looked up a few tips, and that ended up really helping! VATS will save your life: that's the in-game "Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System" so i recommend leveling up in the category that adds more VATS points (i believe that's agility? it'll tell you in the level up screen!).
also, the tips that i learned from said not to worry about levelling up in charisma, that it's practically a useless trait and to focus on other things. HOWEVER, i found it incredibly frustrating to play with a low charisma! charisma allows you to persuade or intimidate people, and i am hardcore into the roleplay side of fallout, so failing persuasions all the time because of my low charisma was driving me up the wall. so if you're more of a shoot-y person, by all means, listen to that tip! but if you'd rather have a roleplay approach, i definitely recommend getting your charisma at least to an average level
another thing is stock up on stuff that heals you!! you will definitely need it. if you can, try not to buy health items, you'll find them on enemies and in surrounding areas if you check drawers and the like. but it's insane how much you'll need it. especially in fallout 4, there are a few high level areas surrounding your second quest destination, so if you can't beat something, just come back to it later. the biggest example that i can think of is trinity tower: it's right outside of diamond city but PACKED with super mutants. you will not beat it when you first come across it, trust me. just keep that in mind!
and the last thing i'd say is remember that looks can be deceiving. if it looks like there's only 4 or 5 enemies, chances are there's probably a lot more that are going to flood out when you start shooting. try to find a spot where you're protected by cover, and try to be stealthy about it. i can't tell you how many times i've shot at one person only for 12 to just appear out of nowhere. don't run headfirst into anything!
i think that's everything i could say, and everyone's playing style is different! but i hope this helps you a little bit and thank you again for asking!! <3
(oh and one last thing - those tips will also tell you to join the brotherhood of steel because they have access to strong weapons. fuck the brotherhood of steel. if you have to, join them at first and betray them later, but seriously fuck the brotherhood of steel. okay bye!!)

Digging my 360 out is always a weird blast from the past for me, especially if I hook it up to an ethernet and look at more stuff (I recall getting really emotional over a lost family member's account still being there the last time I did this, I won't this time I promise).
Instead I just wanted to point at some of what shows up on My Games tab because it's a fun mix of good memories and things I don't recall at all.
Beat Hazard, played a bunch of songs on that.
My nerd ass getting all the achievements on Fallout 3 and NV because I was obsessed.
GAME ROOM existing, oof.
Hitman Absolution was my first hitman game if you don't count a handful of minutes at a relatives! I LIKED it! What the FUCK! lol I'm glad I liked it, but I honest to god could not go back to it today, I'm certain of that.
Maxed cheevos on I Am Alive- a game most don't respect at all but I really enjoyed it at the time- it came out when I was obsessed with post apocalypse stuff so it scratched that itch at just the right time.
I Made A Game With Zombies in it is a MASTERPIECE of a game, highly recommend looking up a playthrough for the music alone.
Iron Brigade is actually a game I've brought up before! For good reason! It's a game I love wholeheartedly and I think to date it is the only game I became THAT invested in the COMMUNITY side of things.
And what a unique experience that was.
Picture a game, right. You love it, it is niche as heck and you love it. The game has an official forum and pretty much no other place on the internet- so the forum is active! The devs are there! The best of the best and the most obsessed are there!
Now picture my nerd ass diving in, making an ass of myself, becoming at least recognized by a great portion of them, receiving a gift from the DEVS THEMSELVES, building the wikia with them, writing guides with them, stupidly turning down the opportunity to be involved in world first perfect runs with them (what the fuck was my problem) building broken strats with them-
I was incredibly active on the community side for that game, I miss that dearly. I really should take such a big commitment step again for the next niche game I enjoy :)
Enough about IB.
I went and maxed out Minecraft on 360 for some reason? What a bizarre thing to do. I'm pretty sure the achievements were stupid as hell (I ain't checking) and I don't recall really "playing" much? But that's also the biggest platform I ever played minecraft on? Oof.
Monday Night Combat, that was a fun game during its time.
Maxed out oblivion- fun story on that one.
Oblivion was one of those few games that I was hyped beyond words before release. I would watch the trailer again and again, I'd talk with friends and family about it nonstop, I recall going on and on about being able to choose how you used weapons, dual wield, one hand, two handed, magic, bow- I was blown away by the concept.
I did a similar bit of "gushing about basic mechanics" with Halo 1 to parental figures, that was fun.
But anyway- I was hyped for Oblivion, and I got all the achievements as you can see- but to this day I have not actually done much in Oblivion lol.
Little kid me was new to the entire concept of an open world RPG!
Little kid me JUST followed the quest markers and ONLY for the main quests and guild quests!
Little kid me did NOTHING in Oblivion! lol
So I have all these hours in it, I went and did a lot of the traditional Oblivion things like making a 100 chameleon armor set with duped sigil eyes or whatever but I haven't actually "just played" Oblivion, outside of stealing, I did a lot of stealing. But side content? Nope.
OH HECK YEAH PAYDAY 2!
I played Payday 2 on 360!
For those who don't know, PD2 on 360 is the OLD version, the OG skill system and the like. It's kind of a train wreck, but I played it nonstop for like a week? Maybe just a weekend? I recall telling my cousin to get it and then I don't remember us actually ever playing? I played with some friends, then by myself, then quit.
Fast forward and I buy it on PS4 and play it TOO MUCH then buy it on PC and play it TOO MUCH lol.
Tumblr media
Oh, Rainbow Six Vegas is in the mix. Vegas and Vegas 2 were extremely fun IN THEIR TIME. I'd revisit them with a friend I'd bet, but the liklihood of that is kinda low.
You could use the 360 camera to add yourself to the game which was sick, and I'll never forget that sniper rifles could pinpoint blind fire due to an oversight. If you went against a wall (it's a cover shooter) and clicked in the zoom toggle for a sniper you would "zoom" your blind fire reticle which actually made the sniper go from "blind fire inaccurate" to "pinpoint directly on the reticle accurate" so snipers were busted lol.
If my reckless ramble wasn't a hint at what I'm about to say at the beginning: The 360 was the true height of my gaming history. It was the console I played as a teen which is to say it was the console I had infinite time and resources to pour into, and pour into I did.
Even today I don't just sit around playing games nonstop, sometimes I wish I would, but it just doesn't "fit" anymore- but kid me? He loved that shit.
So when it comes to stories I have about games, most of them are about the 360 which means a lot of them aren't really the most entertaining to share I think?
Most people want to hear about classic game stuff, or modern game stories- but I have all this weird and out of place knowledge about what it was like being obsessed with games on the 360- an experience a lot of people my age also have so, again, they aren't interested in hearing :P

Fallout traits system and ideas
The original two Fallout games, along with Fallout New Vegas, are roleplaying games with a pretty in depth character creator at the start. Part of this is choosing traits, which are optional mechanics which alter the flow of the game. For example, the trait 4 eyes offers your character an additional 2 perception while wearing glasses, but lose 2 perception points if you aren't. This is just a little extra layer of roleplay which can be added to the process of building a character.
This also comes up in BPM: Bullets Per Minute and The Binding of Isaac, as you can get charms throughout a run which alter how you play, like Solar Flares or the infinite ammo hat in BPM, which alter the game into a bullet hell shooter, rather than a boomer shooter.
I like the idea of these combat abilities being randomised each time you do a dungeon, as it means that each run is completely unique and forces the player to play a little differently each time. This also means that new abilities can be unlocked for beating runs.
I've come up with a few different ideas for traits/abilities that could go in a game like this: Double dash - means more enemies spawn Health rallying - makes dungeons longer More damage - Less health Heal more health in one go - have less health overall Deal twice as much damage - receive twice as much damage Move faster/have more stamina - deal less damage
I think this is a good set of ideas to play with for a basic demo of the game. I don't even think I'll be able to get all of this done along with everything else.

hey not a request but I was wondering if you could explain why a lot of people don't like fallout 4? it's the first fallout game I've played and I really like it but I can see some of the flaws, I'd just like to get the full scoop. Thank you, I'd really appreciate it 💜
I’m going to go on a whole tangent now. Prepare for the ten paragraphs… you can skip and go to the conclusion if you want though.
So first off, Fallout 4 lacks the amount of dialog options that the previous Fallout games had - that’s when your skill points also come to play. For example, you may use certain perks or certain skill point to persuade someone, which in itself is a really interesting thing. However, Fallout 4 kinda lacked those options, with only 4 applicable choices in what to say.
Furthermore, the previous games have a karma system (personally, I can’t speak for the first and second game as I haven’t played them), which is also a major thing that Fallout 4 didn’t have, in all honesty, it made the game more fun in a way, it also impacted dialog and how people see you. There were also various factions and your character had a specific ‘relationship’ with them, so the better it is, the better people treat you or the worse it is, the worse they treat you, etc.
The DLCs were also much better, in my opinion, especially in New Vegas, the DLCs were so interesting and intriguing, my personal favorite has to be Dead Money, it had that creepy factor that I absolutely adored. Granted, you couldn’t come back to those certain worlds, unlike Fallout 4, but they were still amazing to enjoy nonetheless. The companions in all of the DLCs, including Fallout 3 DLCs, and both of the games companions, were so unique, they were all quite different from one another, some of the you couldn’t recruit until you played certain missions, like Fallout 4. However, you couldn’t have relationships with the characters, I mean you could sleep with certain NPCs, but that’s about it. In general, I preferred New Vegas companions the most.
I’m not an avid gamer, but even I didn’t like the graphics of Fallout 4 and there really wasn’t an excuse for how bad they were. There were literally games older than Fallout 4 and they had better graphics.
Alas comes the shooting, I mean I get it’s not a traditional shooter game, but still, the previous Fallout games had better shooting. And honestly speaking, having played other Bethesda games, I feel like this one was a bit of a let down.
It was also such a buggy game for me, personally. Perhaps it was because of the amount of mods I had, but I even without them, Fallout 4 wouldn’t run that well with its crashes. Mind you, I play gta v perfectly on this pc. Speaking of mods, considering I haven’t played Fallout 4 in a while, I don’t understand what’s happening with the paid mods. I’m not going to pay for all of their DLCs and have them strip money off me for content someone else made.
This isn’t to bash on Fallout 4, honestly. The first Fallout game I played was the forth one, and I loved it at first. See, people don’t necessarily hate it, considering they probably play 200 hours worth of it, it’s just that they expect more from them. If you have the money and time, I definitely suggest you play the previous Fallout games, as they contain all of the major things that Fallout 4 was void of. It was the lack of improvement if I’m honest, they kind of just took alot away from the game, and didn’t add much in. Personally, I loved New Vegas, it was by far my favorite as your character hasn’t go a set background, you’re just a courier who got shot in the head, I mean there are more reasons but they’re in the previous paragraphs. Oh, and, Benny was voiced by Chandler fricking Bing.
So that’s that. Mind you, I’m not great at explaining these things, and I haven’t played either of the games in like a month or two, so I may have missed some things out. Hope I helped. :)
But Dogmeat is basically everything. I love that mutt to bits.

Gamebryos or creation engine or whatever the fucks engines was garbage and that's kinda weirdly what makes combat kinda good? Maybe not good but investing in combat in New vegas makes you actually kinda deadly while NOT investing in it will make you a fucking wet napkin. It's a choice that affects both the moment to moment and greater gameplay loops.
In outer worlds not investing into combat does NOT matter, like at all. cuz its shooting mechanics are so refined and the enemy types are so unvaried (guy, robot, a handful of monsters) that you can just get by on being kinda good at shooters.
Upgrades did piss me right off first time around. Investing a bunch of upgrades into my shotgun only to find out there's a SHOTGUN 2!! that's a billion times better was kind of a kick in the nuts that I never recovered from and I couldn't really trust the game loot from that point on.
Everything Quest-wise is pretty thematically-staked. Which has its ups and downs. I do think it could benefit a little from following the footsteps of KOTOR or the first bit of new vegas where your hoofing it across the Mojave JUST to get to vegas. And by that I mean I wish it kind of found a way to just waste my time a little more.
From moment one it feels like we are always on the cusp of trying to overwhelm an empire. We don't really get alot of time to establish personal or lower-level stakes like survival or vengeance. Again KOTOR and Vegas do this initial stage pretty well with just giving us somebody important and relevant to FIND while the greater stakes are slowly made clear to the player by simply participating in the world. I don't really think the dead captain in the opening sequence really counts.
Outer Worlds wants you to care about its greater thematics and world from moment one before you even get a chance to engage on a personal level yet. Which isn't nessearilly bad per say but it makes that third act feel all the more rushed and kinda flat because it doesn't the climax isn't really thematically relevant is it? It's a rescue for someone that you already have a strenuous professional relationship with.
The rescue of a single individual who is responsible for the wellbeing of hundreds of people we just don't know. Theoretically these people are the hope of the system but that's just something taken on faith. The rest of the people in the system were colonists too weren't they? Wouldn't it be thematically appropriate to spend the game emboldening factions and unionizing the workers? Kind of fit into the anti-capitalist theme?
Like yes, to be fair. There is a chunk of the game spent doing things adjacent to that with factions like the iconoclasts but nothing on a scale that feels like its coming together in such a way that affects everyone.
Also the humor in this game is good but it can potentially get one-note sometimes. Fallout as a whole has its flaws but something I've always appreciated is the fact that the characters almost always play it straight. Nobody in fallout "knows" that they are in fallout. Outer worlds more than occasionally does have that annoyingly smug GIF-able self-awareness that is in just about anything with a script lately.
I didn't really have a thesis for this i just wanted to go off on this little tangent.
I still ADORE this game and I do plan on replaying it soon after I beat new vegas i just think its worth nit picking a bit
Playing New Vegas again makes me wish that we got more out of outer worlds for its last act which is where it really fell behind.
Also Combat needed to be just... a wee bit better I think
