the notes on this post are not it. so many people saying that americans are stupid or that people like this are stupid. saying how can people be this misinformed. saying trump says it every chance he gets how could they not know. saying people shouldn't vote if they don't know these things.

there are people that ACTIVELY avoid the news. i KNOW people that actively avoid the news. my sister actively avoids the news. and yet the other day she still told me something one of trump's appointed people is supposedly going to do. i don't know if it was true. i don't even remember what it was to look up if it's true. i don't know where she heard it; from a friend or a coworker or just in passing.

news and politics is an absolute shit storm in the us (and i imagine many other countries but i don't know). it's so hard to actually be fully informed. it can be hard to be even moderately informed. some people don't have the time or energy. some people don't have the cognitive ability. some people simply don't care. all those people still deserve the right to participate in our democracy. they all deserve the right to vote.
