I really should work out some ideas on how the Spellplague affected Lael and also her fake identity (or identities) while living in Candlekeep. Except the latter was definitely coordinated with Alustriel so they didn't have to pretend to be strangers. The only thing I'm certain of is she wasn't using spellguises until after Mys.tra's reincarnation. Too risky. Unless? She already had a spellguise picked out, and one of the consequences of Mys.tra's death is she was stuck in it unable to alter it or revert back? Idk, man.

#OOC / HOLLY.#judging by what happened to El and the Simbul #Lael and Luse should've been driven literally barking mad by the Spellplague #also how fucked up is it that Lael's son Krehlan died while she was still in disguise in Cand.lek.eep #another discussion I gotta get into sometime #anyway Mys.tra's death took the Simbul's sanity and left her in spapeshifted forms most of the time #El became unable to cast even the smallest spells without going mad #Storm got nerfed into the body of like a 19yo and lost her rich bard's voice and related abilities #so Lael's complications should be largely related to spellguises and enchanted items #I wonder if it becomes literally impossible for her to use enchanted items at least not without major consequence #and her getting stuck in one spellguise could be more convenient for me narratively . . .#altho her appearance just Changing sometimes outside of her control could be fitting thematically #or her being unable to do spellguises at all given her history of outrunning grief by faking her death and assuming a new identity #[she has healthy coping mechanisms clearly lmao]#idk I'm still mulling things over #note to self
