Here at the end of the story wishing we got more!
Maybe me comparing Valdes's prose to The Hobbit set my expectations a bit higher, but the jump between Episodes 4 and 5 is just too abrupt. Too many things felt like they needed more set up, seeing more of the world and the stakes properly being established. At the very least King Glarb maybe shouldn't have just, blabbed out his plans right then and there. At the very least surprise the main cast and stuff them in the dungeon to let them watch the world start to burn before they all pull through to save the day.
Even Mabel handing the egg back to Maha felt so contrived, Ral had to be the one to point out "That's the most motherly thing I've seen you do." Because well. During the adventure itself the fact Mabel is a mother wasn't really made relevant.
On the whole I had fun, but I wish they gave this more story. WOTC themselves has admitted Bloomburrow has been the most hyped set this year, so having the story fall short feels like a disappointment. Can't help but feel like Valdes was also expecting to tell more of a story too.
Bloomburrow | Episode 5: Nightfall in Fountainport by Valerie Valdes
As heroes, villains, and monsters make for Fountainport, Helga returns to her old master.
