bitchheroine:
Complete chaos could also easily describe Hell. While the wealthiest demons enjoyed the hierarchy and decorum, the masses were left in squalor and unpredictability. It was the home of eternal torment, after all. That begged the question, of course, of whether or not this man had found his… passenger, in hell.
“tell me about it. They almost always have it coming.” Meg smirks softly, thinking of her father. He’d been completely blindsided by humans , His pride entirely denying the possibility that they could’ve ever had the upper hand. Interesting, though, to ponder who might be on his mind. Who inspires such a sharply edged ‘good riddance’?
She’s a sucker for a good story, but some of them take time to coax out.
Her brow lifts, curious, when she gets a name.
“Azathoth… call me Meg. Megara seems too formal.”
She chuckles. “Why…well, when I come across an obscenely powerful being, hiding in plain sight, I can’t help but ask questions. ‘Sides…like I said, it’s cold out here without friends.”
Her eyes flash yellow briefly. “So…what do you say?”
“Megara. Fancy name” he replies, giving her a nod and soft snort. “Well, nice to meet you, Meg. I’m sure it’s delighted. I’m Lance by the way. Not sure if you care or if this is a demon only type of deal.”
He thinks he’s getting his answer when she shows some more of her true colors, the color of her eyes in particular. And obscenely powerful demon inside him or not, the sight of her yellow eyes still gives him the creeps. His face visibly tenses and he starts gritting his teeth, but doesn’t really do much else. He just keeps staring back at her for a while, not sure if he’d love to have his eyes change too, just for dramatic and creepy effect as well, or if he’s glad that they don’t look like hers, that this is still his body through and through. Not that of a monster.
“I’d say if you want to talk to the thing, you might as well just ask instead of trying to coax it out with vague questions. Not really nice, y’know. Talking past me even though it’s my body you’re still talking to.”
Sure enough, it’s more than eager to talk to her, now that she’s shown off her otherwordliness. But still, it’ll always leave him somewhat cranky whenever someone tries to trigger the change of control without his say so. Not that it’s really working anymore anyway. He’s gotten fairly great at keeping it in check, and he’d like to keep it that way. Lance lets out a sigh and pushes himself away from the wall anyway, giving her a curious, yet somewhat tired frown. Because maybe, despite the crankiness, she’s still got him just as interested where this is going to go.
“For the record, I don’t think it even does the whole ‘friends’ thing. Don’t think it’s a good friend to most people at all. But hey, who am I to judge. If you want to give it a go and lay your problems bare for it...feel free. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.” Another pause. Another curious frown. “So you want me to dig it out, or can I keep my limbs and face to myself for the rest of the day?”

People overlook how rude Hunk is actually in the show and how he’s canonically a bit of an ass to his friends. Being the ‘friendliest’ doesn’t necessary mean being kind or even always a good friend and Hunk shows that to us.
Like he’s nice, hospitable and demonstrates good will and all but he’s really insensitive to the things that affect other people and ignorant to other people’s feelings (The way he bulldozes over Keith’s upset about the galra reveal and kind of mocks him was really uncomfortable and I don’t think anyone would like how Hunk snoops into other people’s privacy and how invasive and offputting it is he doesn’t care about boundaries).
And writing wise it’s very interesting and I like that it rounds out his character. This part of Hunk isn’t the criticism cause it makes him nuanced and more relatable because who haven’t been an ass?
I can see how he and Lance are buddies in the beginning because the two of them share the same kind of juvenile humor and matching energy at times. Pidge too is included in this matching energy because sometimes when the stars do align on a blue moon they do shine a bit of fun on the trio. But very very rarely.
The issue is that Lance moves beyond that kind of energy when he gains more responsibilities in the show and have more weighty interactions with Keith or Allura. Lance is the main or one of the main-est main characters (despite the writers’ best shots to try to kill it) and we see that struggle for development and it resulted in Lance being a very different character compared to who he was in the beginning. Lance matures and just outgrew the characterization Hunk and Pidge are perpetually stuck in.
And we get mad when Lance gets treated badly by Pidge and indignant when Hunk doesn’t come to help him because it shows that Hunk and Pidge, not only doesn’t acknowledge any of that progress Lance had made or give him his dues, but that the two of them are stuck in a different stage while Lance was leapfrogging over them into a another plane of writing existence. It’s really obvious especially when Hunk continues to be a peanut gallery tagalong (he did it to Keith when the Klance boys were still rivals) but switched from Lance to Pidge and also later to Romelle.
If nothing else, Hunk’s writing and characterization imo had been very consistent and he shows who he is every season.
I'm glad you brought this up, because if you hadn't I was probably going to make a whole post about it eventually . I'm talking about the scene where Hunk and Keith go to the Weblum. Even before I could really put my finger on the reason why, that scene bugged me. And it only made it worse when I actually realized what was wrong with it. All you need to do is pay attention to the dialogue:
"But I always get the worst jobs. Go to a Galra occupied planet to get my lion. Go to a Galra occupied planet to get a cyrstal. Go into the belly of a beast with the only Galra alien team member."
"Was your mom the alien? Your grandpa? How Galra are you?"
"Allura doesn't hate you. You just need to give her time to accept the fact that you're Galra – the race that destroyed her planet and all of her people. ... Yeah, she might hate you a little bit."
This dialogue is presented as light and jokey. But they are literally talking about Keith's race. If you can replace one word with another word that suddenly makes a piece of dialogue come across as wildly inappropriate…guess what? It was already inappropriate to begin with.
The example I'll use, here (race aside) is what if Keith had come out to the team. And suddenly Hunk was saying:
"Was your mom gay? Your grandpa? How gay are you?"
And it only makes it worse because we can easily see Keith's anger in regards to this subject. He tries to brush it off at first, but the more Hunk presses the matter, the more he snaps. And this interaction would have be absolutely amazing, and great character building… if only anything had come of it. If only they had talked about it afterwards.
People often hate Pidge for being blatantly rude in certain situations. But the way Hunk often seems ignorant or blind to people's feelings is almost more dangerous. Because, like you said, he is thought of as the kind one. He's the cinnamon roll character. And therefore everything he does and everything he says is seen as acceptable because he's a good guy.
And you're absolutely right. It's a very interesting characterization...if only they had meant it to be that way. If only he had had an arc. And the sad thing with Hunk is that I think they just forgot about him. He was the cook, the friendly one, the blah blah blah who cares let's get to the plot. So he stayed at the same level throughout the show.
Hunk and Lance began the show at the same level – and it's such an interesting contrast to Keith and Pidge. Hunk and Lance talked about going home. They viewed the whole thing as temporary (despite the battles and danger), and so it took them a long time to settle in. Whereas Keith immediately snapped into the role of a soldier. He was in 100% from the first moment. And Pidge viewed this as a stepping stone toward her true goal – getting out in the universe and finding her family.
And this was amazing. It had so much potential. Except Hunk never really left this level. He participated, sure. But I'm not sure if he ever truly grasped the true consequences and weight of the situation they were in. And when Lance did, they began to drift apart. And this made Hunk gravitate toward whoever was still residing on his level in some way – which is so fucking interesting. If only...
Honestly, anon, you said it all. I'm just backing it up! :)

Lance X !Fat Reader X Lotor - Race To Your Heart Ch.4
---
Lotors voice was smooth as velvet as he continued to read you the book. It was an intriguing Altaian tale about how the universe guided two lovers to one other.
More so, how their differences not only in race, but in status kept them apart. It was like a fairy tale.
"We have stories like this on Earth." Your voice broke the short silence as Lotor was in the middle of turning a page.
He turned the page, but instead of continuing with his reading, looked at you. You could feel your round cheeks flush up at the gaze, but his eyes held a look of curiosity.
"Intriguing, could you possibly tell me one." All of his attention was on you and at this moment you didn't mind one bit.
Sitting up a bit more from your spread out form on the couch, you sat side by side to Lotor who completely shut the book and leaned back against the couch.
"S-sure, there's so many... Cinderella, The Little Mermaid. Beauty and the Beast....how ab-."
"Beauty and the Beast." Lotor cut you off, but you didn't mind because his voice was filled with curiosity.
You laughed at his eagerness and turned your blanket clad body toward him as you started to tell him about the Fairy Tale.
---
Lance was walking down one of the many halls of the castle, dread washing over him as Pidges words echoed in his head.
"Tell (Y/N) about the deal by the end of the week, or I'll tell her!"
The Cuban man shuddered at the mere thought. Pidge could be scary when she wanted.
Honestly, he saw nothing wrong with the little deal he made with Lotor. Lance knew you weren't property, you're independent, fierce and your own woman with your own options who will be heard and you've proven that point many times.
A smile cracked on his face. He loved all those things about you and not to mention your humor, laugh, smile.. everything. Having been with the team since the beginning, you all got to know each other on a deeper level.
Lance flirted with you because he was interested. Sure, he flirted with other girls, but it was just what he did. Although, what Lotor said rang true. He did flirt with girls in front of you, the girls you thought he'd go for. Rubbing the back of his neck, he grimaced. He never took your thoughts into consideration when openly flirting with other girls and thinking back to the side glances and the way your face would drop and how'd you just turn away and talk to the others.
A laugh caught the sharp shooter's attention, his eyes landing on the door to the library. It was your laugh, he'd recognize it anywhere.
Another laugh, a lower more masculine one invaded Lance's ears. It came from the same place yours did. Looking down both ways of the corridor, he quietly went up to the door and pressed his ear against it.
---
"So, Belle falls for this Beast regardless of his outward appearance and solely on personality?" You nodded at Lotors question and gave a laugh.
"Yes, but Belle also saw Beauty in the Beasts own right. I guess the saying, beauty is in the eye of the beholder rings true with Beauty and the Beast."
Lotor thought for a moment and then let out a laugh at your words. You tilted your head to the side wondering what brought on his laughter.
"You know what your tale reminds me of?" You only shook your head as Lotor shifted a bit closer to you, his leg brushing up against yours. You cleared your throat a bit at the close proximity.
"What's it remind you of?"
"You." Lotor gave you a smile as your lips dipped down in a frown. You could feel anger rise up as a string of curse words were at the tip of your tongue ready to be thrown in Lotor's direction until he threw his hands up and laughed at your reaction.
"Before you swear at me, please hear me out." Biting your lip, you nodded your head. You did just tell him the fairy tale, maybe he was still trying to process it. It would be a shitty move to yell at him if he was still trying to connect some dots due to the obvious differences in your cultures.
"This fairy tale reminds me of you because you don't see your beauty (Y/N)," Lotor paused for a moment as he grasped your soft hands with his large ones before continuing. "I know how you see yourself... like a Beast, someone who thinks they do not deserve love because of what they look like on the outside, but (Y/N), you're absolutely gorgeous. All of these flaws that you see are not flaws at all, they make you unique and beautiful...by the stars (Y/N) you are the Belle and you don't even know it."
You were speechless.
Was this real right now? Was he really looking at you because Lotor was actually attracted to you? You had so many questions swirling through your mind right now.
"(Y/N)?"
Glancing back up, Lotors face was much closer than it was before. You could feel the heat radiating off of his body.
His hand cupped your round cheek, thumb brushing the side of your face in a calming motion.
"Why did you say that?" Your voice was soft and vulnerable right now. This scene was right out of a fairy tale; the prince confessing his love and adoration to the peasant.
"Because," You could feel Lotors hot breath as his face got closer, noses almost touching. "It's all true (Y/N), you're so much more than you think." You could feel your eyes start to flutter close as you leaned forward.
Lotor leaned down, wanting to capture your lips. He wanted you to see yourself as he sees you: majestic, beautiful and deserving of so much love. His eyes fluttered close as well, wanting to bask in the warmth of your body and lips.
Before the both of you could share a sweet kiss, the library door slammed against the wall, scaring the daylights out of you both as you both jumped back at the loud sound.
Lance came around from the other side of a bookshelf, eyes fixated on the tall shelves as if he was searching for a book. The Cuban looked up at the both of you, surprised. Well, acting surprised really. Having heard everything Lotor said to you and the silence that came after, he had to stop it.
They both are after your heart after all.
"Oh, hey guys!" The sharp shooter waved to you both and walked over.
Your chubby cheeks were flushed from Lotors words, the almost kiss you two shared and now Lance having basically caught you both.
"Reading by the fire, classic." Lance plopped himself in between Lotor and yourself, separating you both. You glanced over at the Galra Prince who was very much annoyed by Lance; his gaze glaring at the paladin.
"We were having a very lovely time, until we got rudely interrupted." Lotor said this while still glaring at Lance who only hummed in acknowledgment.
You were looking between the two and the silence was thick and heavy. It made you a bit uncomfortable and with the silence still lingering, you got up from the couch, hoping to make a get away to your room.
"Where ya going (Y/N)?" Lance asked. Sheepishly, you turned to look at both men.
"Back to my room, I'm getting a bit tired. Thank you for reading to me Lotor, it was nice." You gave the Prince a small smile. Your feelings of anger you usually felt around him, slowly disappearing.
He smiled up at you. "Of course my little star, I quite enjoyed our time together, I do hope to spend more with you." He gently grasped your hand and brought it to his lips, gingerly giving the top of it a chaste kiss.
"Y-yeah, that sounds nice." You brought your hand back and started making your way to the door and toward your room.
---
Once the door shut to the library, Lance jumped up from the couch, crossing his arms and glaring down at the still sitting Galran.
"Can I assist you with something?" Lotors voice was sarcastic in nature which only made Lance even more annoyed.
"What the quiznak was that you just pulled?" Lotor knew what the human was referring to and it just made him smirk.
"I was simply expressing what a lovely time I had with (Y/N) tonight. It was marvelous, we shared body heat, I held her hand, pulled her close and the way her eyes fluttered close when I was near; it was truly something of fairy tales you might say."
Lotor knew his words would irritate the paladin and that pleased him, but he also meant everything he said. That almost kiss did feel magical and he intended to finish it another time.
"Y-you can't do that!" Lance shouted this at the Prince.
"Why not? Am I not winning her heart this way, is that not what was agreed upon?"
Lance sighed in frustration before speaking. "It is, I just hope you're genuine with her."
Lotor scoffed and stood up, looking Lance dead in the eyes. "I'll always been genuine with her, but what about you? Will you ever stop your chasing other girls around and making her feel like less than she is, or is that just what you humans do?"
With that said, he made his way out the library, needing to get away from Lance before he did something to him.
Lance stayed in the library, racking his brain trying to come up with something to sweep you off your feet and show you how much he likes you. Sitting on the couch, he knew it was going to be a long night, but you were worth it.

FE Heroes: Berkut Has Some Friends
-Horse Emblem In Progress is out and about again on a skilling run during Camilla's Warrior's map. A tactical blunder has left them in a vulnerable position with Siegbert at the top of the map with 8 HP and Genny near the bottom. Frederick has already used his turn, and can't Wings of Mercy to protect him!-
Siegbert: F-forgive me, I fear I may have overextended...
Berkut: It's fine- I'll more than make up for it! Stand back!
-Berkut blasts toward Siegbert to eliminate the blue mage to his right.-
Berkut: Go! Run back to Genny and heal. I'll handle these lance idiots for you! Frederick, next turn, move ahead and take out whatever spawns in your path!
Frederick: Yes, my lord!
Siegbert: Thank you, Lord Berkut-- Genny, I'm on my way!
Genny: R-right!
-Siegbert doubles back to Genny for healing in time for a new set of reinforcements to spawn, surrounding Berkut. If Siegbert had still been there, it would have meant death for sure. Berkut just laughs.-
Siegbert: Berkut's surrounded, we need to help him!
Frederick: Already on it, milord!
Genny: Tch, I guess we gotta...
Berkut: Ha! Worry not. These fools have trapped themselves with me- now, witness the might of the Rigellian Empire!
-Berkut triggers Blazing Flame, reducing the units to his left and right to 1HP. He immediately takes down the one behind him, leaving the other two for later. Frederick manages to take down the green mage still in range and Genny takes down the sword to Berkut's right. This leaves one last lancer, who smashes himself into Frederick and dies.-
Berkut: And that's the stage cleared. Hmph. Not even a challenge.
Frederick: That was an impressive display, Lord Berkut.
Siegbert: Yes, it was- I fear I might owe you for the timely rescue.
Berkut: That was hardly a concern, Prince Siegbert. I only did what you would have.
Siegbert: Still. Thank you.
Genny: Hmph. You're still a rude jerk, but I guess you did save Siggy's life, so thanks.
Frederick: Agreed. What you did was very impressive, milord.
Berkut: Really, it's... it's nothing. This is just basic strategy, hardly worthy of note.
Siegbert: It was more than that- you chose to risk your life to save me. It made me feel like I can trust you.
Frederick: Likewise. You've proven you can work in a team today. We're all very proud, Milord.
Genny: ...Also, how did you do that neat little explosion trick?
Frederick: GENNY, NO.
#AKA: berkut accidentally made a friend and inspired further explosive dreams in the sheep#melon lord plays vidya#melon lord's heroic army
