„Don’t touch me” Vergil x Female Reader
Note: I need power. Pain included.
You must know that my skin is very fragile. Every time someone touches me, a spark of an unpleasant impulse runs across my skin. This hypersensitivity has nothing to do with any known human illness though. But it sucks and makes my miserable life even more obnoxious.
And I have grown tired of explaining this to every stranger. This time it is a nice-looking middle aged guy, whom I met near the church. The reason we started to explore together is simple – we just went in the same direction, he did not look like a demon, me even less so, so neither of us suspected the other of anything off. We were so focused that we did not even exchange the names. Everything was obvious. I am a person who does not ask many questions, neither is he.
Several times I caught his glance, but there was really nothing more than a neutral observation. His eyes were cold blue, big, white – or grey? – hair thoroughly brushed away from his face. He looked like one of the those men you can see at a military parade. They are not from there and really want to be elsewhere, but that "elsewhere" isn't a nice place. It is not a place for small girls like me – it is what he would say if I ask him where he came from.
I really tried to have a closer look at his long katana, but I had a feeling he would get angry if I touched it.
There were only a few demons in the main nave of the abandoned church, but I was expecting worse underground. I had straight orders to investigate the source of the strange demonic energy. And every step that lead me to the stairs made my skin more and more irritated. I needed to take off my coat to let my poor, bare arms rest.
He would have to be a complete weirdo not to wonder at least about their state. But I could not blame him, as the skin I uncovered really looked bad. The scars were almost red, not white as usual. They were forming patterns as though dozens of small rivers were flowing just under my skin. I cautiously touched them and then hissed.
"Is this some kind of illness?" he asked, no emotion in his voice, just curiosity. "Are you allergic to demonic energy maybe?"
I sighed and shake my head. "No, it is a side effect of a ritual my order put me through. Nothing contagious. It... hurts sometimes, when I am close to source. But not always. Just, you know. Scars."
"Scars" - he said and nodded. I may have seen the spark of recognition in his eyes. But it could be just the light.
The light went darker when we finished cleansing the place. It was hard, because no demons were protecting the ritual circle, worse, a spell had been cast upon the entire room and it cost us a lot of effort to take it down. But we managed, and my magical experience helped a lot. I did not even have to unsheathe my blades, as his mighty katana was doing the main job of cutting the hard magical threads. I watched him with a growing interest, especially when he took off his own coat and I had the opportunity to rate his arms. I like men's arms.
When all was cleansed we were both damn exhausted. We left the church and headed to the nearest house, where we found an undamaged apartment. I don't know why he just agreed to go there with me. We barely shared few words, but somehow I started to trust him.
At this moment I need to explain myself before you. I am not a slag neither am I a bigot. The reason I came closer to this man lies somewhere in my past and filled my future with way too many unexpected events. I do not own my body wholly. It is a part of a ritual, it is a tool. Easy to restore, easy to bend. And this man seemed curious.
This is why I decided to offer him some time with me.
And here we are now.
He looks tense, stiff and uptight, when he sits on the couch with a silent moan.
I leave my blades and coat on the nearest chair and without any word stand in front of him. He looks at me with a question in his eyes.
“I may have some idea how to release the tension” I say, laying hands on his arms and leaning to reach his ear.
“I am old enough to be your father, girl” - he snorts, but drags me closer. I follow him and sit astray on his tights. His hands, very cold and soft, poke under the rim of my shirt. He observes my face, knowing that I don’t like the touch. That it hurts. I close my eyes, inhale and slowly nod.
He touches me only with the tips of his fingers. They move like snakes, meander along the scars on the back, then go on to the front, stopping at ribs. I feel them and the impulses remain, but this time it is not unpleasant. There is still a little pain, but there is also... a warmth? I concentrate on their traces and every change of position I welcome with a silent sigh.
“Keep on doing that” - I ask with a hoarse, not opening my eyes. “Don’t stop, do...” - I stop when his mouth covers mine. His kiss becomes deeper, more intrusive, when his tongue tries to pry my lips open. I let him in, tilting my head to give him access inside.
His hands move under my bralette, roll it up and embrace my breasts. There are no scars on them, but the nipples almost hurt when he squeezes them between his thumbs and index fingers. I moan into his mouth, he moans back, not breaking the kiss. One his hand clasps my waist and presses me closer to him. But he needs not to be afraid, I will not escape.
When I realize that I feel his arousal so close to my crotch, it almost blows my mind. I hardly ever feel the “crimson curtain” falling on me during the battle, but this time it just hits me. I break the kiss and unbutton his shirt, kissing every inch of just uncovered skin.
“Please, fuck me now” - I say, taking of my shirt and bra. I want him to see me naked, with all my history written on my skin. I straighten my upper body and press his hands to my breasts.
“I need you inside me” - I buck my hips with impatience. He hisses and quickly lifts me and dumps me on the couch.  The buckle of the belt hits the ground when he removes my trousers along with the panties. I try to reach his belt too, but he pins me down, holding my hands tightly above my head. His blue piercing eyes look at me the way a snake looks at his prey.
“Be careful what you wish for, little one” - he whispers and pushes his hand between my tights. But there is no gentle stroking or studying the grounds. His finger just slides inside me and quickly pulls out, pressing the clit. I tilt my head and cry from rapid intrusion. I try to escape from under him and close my legs, but he pries them apart with his knee and press his hips to his hand, still laying on my folds.
“You are so welcoming wet” - he says and strokes me again and again, harder every time, covering his hand and my tights with my fluid. His strong, long fingers tighten on my wrists, which causes the pain that entwines with pleasure. I cannot and I wish not to stop. I want him to ravish me like an animal.
“Oh... gods...” - I try to withhold my moans and close my mouth, but when he slides his finger deep and curls it, my hips start to move on their own. “Take me, take me, take me...”  - I repeat with every push. I inhale with an open mouth, fast and loud.
“I will gladly...” - he speaks and finally frees my hands, supporting himself on the elbow and leaning his head to suck my nipple, which makes me writhe. His lips are still so hot and wet from our kiss. I hear him unbuckle his belt with the other hand and the lack of his touch almost hurts, so I wrap my legs around him and gyrate my hips to meet his. He laughs and holds my hips in a place, then licks my other nipple. I growl and try to drag him higher on me, with no success. I lower my head and meet his smirk while he puts out his tongue to tease my sensitive body. I shake from the tension.
“Why rush?” - he murmurs and lowers himself a little, just enough to touch my entrance with the tip of his cock. I moan and move quickly to impale myself, but he escapes again. He leans to my ear and whispers : “Oh, don’t worry, I will ride you alright, till you forget how to speak”.
He rises and sits, holding my tights on both sides of his body. Have I not been so excited, I could cherish his abdomen, covered with scars almost the same way mine is. But he gives me no time to take a closer look. He lifts me and unbelievably slowly pushes inside.
“Fuuuuck...” - I grab the backrest of the couch and lean my head back, when he pulls back and pushes again, this time stronger. My tights shake as he moves them higher, to allow himself to go further inside. From this angle he can easily see how he enters me, my body lays before him, uncovered and outstretched, exposed breasts jiggling from thrusts that quickly become fast and hard, hair stuck to the wet neck and arms, muscles on the abdomen clamped. I see his intense look, partly opened lips and cock sliding easily inside. He is so focused on the ride, that it almost amuses me.
"You are... so soft and... tight" - he says, still in this silent voice, breaking the sentence with a gasp. I thank him for this position, that he does not lay on me. Our skin, rubbing on each other, would cause me more pain that pleasure. Now I see the scars illuminating, like a rivers full of light flowing under my skin, around the breasts and on my belly...
Wait. Why do they illuminate? My half-conscious brain tries to understand the revelation, but it fails, as he touches my clit and begins to press it with every thrust. I whine, I crave for the touch, for this is the only way I ever bring myself to the orgasm.
"Yes... like that" - as I say it, the bright light appears in his eyes, but this does not frighten me. In fact, I find it interesting, besides... somehow all his body and movement changed.
"Hold still, girl" - he growls with different voice – lower, vibrating, non-human. With growing fascination I see his skin starting to cover with blue scales, his face transforming into a feral mask of wild lust and the...
"Ohh my! Oh!" - the fucking demon's cock moves like snake, making a wave every time he enters me, hitting the spot. All my body cringes from the unexpected shot of pleasure, so he grabs me stronger, as I feel his claws dipping in my skin and the cold scales rubbing against my tights. He is bigger and stronger and more brutal. So demonic yet so strangely angelic.
I am the quarry he is feeding on and the calyx he needs to fill. With every second he enters me I am more sure I will need him in the future. And every time we fuck would bond us stronger.
"More, more!" - I am on the very edge. I rise head and nibble on my lips, feeling the incoming orgasm that makes me clench around him. But he does not fasten the moves, quite the opposite, he stops and only his cock bestirs inside me.
"Beg me" - he says.
"Damn you, demon" - I gasp, as he pulls only a little, teasing with me. He chuckles and immobilizes me when I try to press forward hips. I gather all my strength. "You like it as much... as I do" - my voice shivers, and so does all my body. "So do not... fucking... tease with me, you poor little demon" - I feel the scars scorching when he swipes out his fingers on my belly. He observes my reaction with interest.
"You will never beg for nothing" - he does not ask. He takes a note. "This I like".
And he abruptly begins to ride me like crazy, quickly leading me to the strong peak that almost makes me deaf from my own screams. And not stopping on that, not letting me to take a breath, he continues taking me, until finally he explodes with a silent howl.
So...
It could have been an interesting start of a deep relationship. But then comes the moment when we switch the names and it ruins everything. Simple, right?
He says his name is Vergil. I laugh and shake my head, which clearly displeasures him.
"Forgive me, but the others from my order would react more... abruptly. This name means a lot. Every single scar on my body was carved in the name of the mighty Vergil, the Son of Sparda."
His face is full of dismay, but I do not notice it then, I am too exhausted. I watch him slowly button his vest.
"I honestly do not believe he even existed. It is annoying enough to carry his name in mine..."
He reaches for his coat, but then stops.
“What are they calling you?! Tell me!”
So I tell him.
The man makes a frightened look. He holds his breath and backs away from me, as though I told him I suffer from a high infectious disease. He shakes his head and just walks away. I follow his silhouette with a lazy sight and start to slowly dress myself.
Suddenly I lack the strength to call him. Suddenly I feel my life going back to an old trace, where I keep forgetting all that does not matter. Do I have to summon the familiar cloud that cleans my mind from every details, from the smallest, like the wrinkles near his eyes, to the way he sighs? Does HE matter at all?
I just was honest with him. I, like all my sisters, have no name. But you can call me Vergil’s Daughter.
One of many and one of a kind.

I just realised that Heartslabyul, Diasomnia, Savanaclaw (sort of) have their headcanons so far so let's add more to the shenanigans with other dorms.
the residents of Ignihyde will be hyped about Nero's arm design, Ortho will be fascinated with Nero and he'll play (fight), at least Ortho gets a playmate or someone to test his strength without hurting anyone. Idia going fanboy mode because you know Full metal alchemist and the dorm is a great place for Nero if he needs a new arm (literally).
I'm not sure whether Pommefiore aside from Epel (for their manliness) would welcome them aside from their good looks, I mean Rook has and will report (and praise) everything to Vil.
Kamil would love to hear various stories of the DMC adventures and the various demon weapons. Jamil might enjoy Vergil's company especially for a nice cup of tea.
We got Octaneville (not a good first impression), but I can bet that Floyd would love to play with the DMC men since they're strong, Dante might like him. Jade will be fascinated with the various flora and vegetation in the demon realm.
I don't really have much to add to this because my brain is broken but I feel like Jade would love the Qlipoth flowers
Tumblr media
They have teeth :)
Also as much as Idia wants to see how Nero's arm works, he's also deathly afraid of Yuu and by extension her family
As for Ortho, sweet bby boy. Him and Nero are a tooth rotting combo for anyone. Watch out Idia Nero's coming for his spot as big brother (jk jk, Ortho now has two big brothers)
Nero and Ortho don't play fight because they're both scared of hurting each other
If Trish was there I think she and Vil would get along almost too well
As for the others, well Rook and Epel like them? Vil has respect for Yuu simply for kicking his ass during his overblot, although he does think all of the Spartas fighting styles are... well choreographed? Like how Dante, Vergil, and Yuu's fighting styles are so versatile (although Vergil and Yuu have more elegance then Dante) and well executed. Idk how to explain it other then he thinks their fighting is pretty and do well on camera
Jamil and Vergil bonding over the fact that they want to kill their "brother". They bond over what dumb shit the other two have done (and Jamil wishes he could stab Kalim with no repercussions)
Floyd... Floyd and Dante together are chaos incarnat
This is just a thought but, what if Dante can't swim?
Like iicr there's never been a underwater mission in DMC, and from what we've seen in Redgrave (where Dante grew up) around the old Sparta home there wasn't any large bodies of water, so he might not be able to swim
So just imagine Floyd trying to get Dante in he water so he could fight him in his mer form
The teasing "I didn't know Mantis Shrimpy's father was a scaredy cat when it came to water? Eehh, that gives me more reason to tease Mantis Shrimpy! Eheh~" poor Dante better learn to swim because if Yuu has to hear Floyd say another joke about it, she might throw Dante in the deep end herself.
OH AND
In both of the Dmc Mangas, Dante does a thing with his eyes
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yeah Yuu does that without even realizing.

BT Catch-Up Guide
So after working on Blazing Tempest/Through the Ashes for almost a year now, I’ve realized that 300k words of content is a lot. So! With some encouragement (thank you @veenus-ow!) I’ve decided to write this; the shortest possible summary for literally everything from Blazing Tempest to the end of Through the Ashes. The goal is that those who don’t want to read everything can use this as a guide, then jump straight into Alpha and Omega.
So, if it wasn’t obvious, there will be lots of spoilers! However, I have only provided the most important events between stories. So if you wish to read the fluffy one-shots (and there are quite a few!) Please refer to my Master List. These stories do develop the characters more but aren’t strictly necessary.
Of course, I won’t be able to cover every character interaction and growth ever. This is particularly important with Vergil/Ashira, as he’s had 20 stories (and 20 years in my canon) to grow into the soft-around-his-wife-and-sarcastic (but caring)-around-his-family Vergil that is in my more recent stories.
Tumblr media
So, without further ado, here’s my short guide to the Blazing Tempest/Through the Ashes series. (At least, as fast as a 41 CH + 20 story series can be summarized). And please, if you have any questions or requests or whatever, my inbox is always open.
Blazing Tempest
After three years in Hell, Dante and Vergil come across Corrin, a half-demon capable of seeing souls known as Reavers. Corrin can swap between two weapons- a Katana and a staff - and throws spectral daggers. The three work together to escape, but Corrin is forced to create a tether between her Soul and Vergil’s to hide his from the millions of Qliphoth souls left behind after the Redgrave incident. While Nero is hesitant about his family’s return, he invites them into his home to figure out what’s going on.
At Nero’s home, Vergil learns to resonate with Corrin’s nightmare and learns that her demon mother, Celeste, and brother Leo were killed by a crazed Reaver named Gaius who developed an obsession with Corrin. She escaped with Celeste’s magic but was stranded alone in a home hidden in the Underworld.
After breakfast with the family, where Kyrie and Corrin connect over a love for music, the family goes shopping. However, Kyrie and Corrin are attacked by demons, and Ashira accidentally pulls Vergil to herself to help defeat them.
A crazed and corrupted Gaius, a demon that Corrin assumes is Mundus’ partner Samael, and a corrupted woman all arrive, disappointed that Ashira sent the souls away. They mention the Phoenix, and Vergil decides to go to a demonic library but is only allowed in by bringing Corrin (who the grumpy librarian takes an interest in). Pythagoras promises to give them whatever information Vergil wants if they investigate demonic activity in Redgrave.
At DMC, Dante tries to smooth Lady and Trish over to Vergil’s return. Neither are happy about it (Lady in particular), but Trish believes that the safety of the world is more important than their feelings for the moment. (Both spend a lot of time helping Dante investigate from here, but avoid Vergil when they can).
On the day of the mission, Vergil meets a strange wolf who is surprised to learn that Vergil does not see Corrin as his mate. The wolf asks him to protect her and leaves. In Redgrave, the group learns that human souls are being devoured by demons which Nero and Dante fight. Vergil and Corrin confront Gaius, who hints that he may have done something to Ashira in the past and escapes, as the corruption in his soul empowers him should be injured.
They return the information to Pythagoras, who (when Vergil isn’t around) reveals that he is Corrin’s Soulmate; a kindred soul that is meant to help a reaver differentiate between life and death. Corrin says she found Vergil in a Mundus prison four years before the Qliphoth tree rose and healed his soul. In return, he learned what he was to her and allowed her to make the tether (which broke when he left). She tells Pythagoras she will not fix it unless Vergil gives her permission, even though she is much weaker without it.
Later, Vergil, Dante, and Corrin go to a small town where they meet a demon called the spider who can make illusions with crystals. A large crystal in the shape of a spider is on her back filled with corrupted souls. She forces the soul of a demon into the soul of a child, and Corrin is forced to burn both souls to stop it. She laments her weakness (as she was unable to save the girl), and Vergil tells her that he will help her get stronger if she promises to always push herself beyond her perceived limits.
Meanwhile, Kyrie suffers from a violent illness, and it is revealed that this has happened a few times before. A demon healer named Kai arrives (one Kyrie has been seeing for a while), and says that she has had another miscarriage even though the medicine he gave her should have stopped any conception. He promises Nero that he will look into it and leaves, but Nero is terrified of losing her.
Weeks later, Vergil and Corrin learn of a potential experiment around “the dead zone” (where the Qliphoth grew from) and are attacked by a monster that pulled together the earth and buildings around it to create a body. Inside is an amalgamation of Qliphoth souls, which Corrin resonates with so Vergil can destroy the body. This proves to be a trap by Gaius, as he used the pain of a human soul to trap an empathetic reaver with the others. Vergil is able to pull her out and is surprised when he remembers a small moment where they lived together in the Underworld.
Eventually, the two find an Underground base filled with Qliphoth souls, and Vergil locates a room with plans to bring Mundus and Samael into the human world by using corrupted souls. However, Gaius and the Spider arrive and release the Qliphoth souls. One injures Vergil’s before they can escape, and Corrin heals him, promising that she will not fail him again (though this is in a language that Vergil feels he should not understand.
Later after Corrin admits to Dante that Vergil is her Soulmate, Dante talks to Vergil, telling him that he is willing to tether to Corrin instead (as she says any connection to a stronger demon will keep her alive), but asks Vergil to consider it.
Later that night, Vergil sees Corrin’s memories of the day he left, including his promise to find her again once he reclaimed Yamato. Believing that his younger self would never have made a promise he didn’t intend to keep, he and allows her to finish the tether, even though he struggles with his feelings on the matter. Dante is proud that Vergil chose to save her.
They meet Kai, learn of Kyrie’s problems. Corrin and Vergil learn how to exchange power, but Corrin takes too much and cracks her soul. A voice that Vergil recognizes as V praises her and Corrin is shocked that she can hear it. Kai sends them back with feathers for Corrin to practice with and an orb that will allow them to return at any time should they need his help.
The two read different books together (which surprises Vergil as he actually enjoyed being closer to her). When Corrin asks about Nero’s mother, Vergil admits that he was confused and lonely, but does not believe he truly fell in love with her. Meanwhile, Dante finds Corrin’s brother, Leo, who she believed was killed by Gaius.
She and Vergil meet with Leo, but Vergil is immediately suspicious, and Corrin has a panic attack as Leo leaves. Dante admits that he also felt something was off, and they agree to keep an eye on him and try to track down Samael.
While Corrin is asleep, Dante and Vergil have their first heart-to-heart, where Dante apologizes for abandoning Vergil and says he wishes he would have found him. Vergil then surprises him by apologizes for everything that has happened, and Dante teases Vergil about his clear feelings for Corrin (earning a sword to the shoulder, as per usual).
After a few weeks of silence, the group has an impromptu party in Fortuna where Nero officially proposes to Kyrie. Here, Vergil realizes he has true feelings for Corrin, and the two share their first kiss. An explosion nearby cuts them short, and they leave to rescue who they can.
Nero and Dante work to rescue the orphanage kids from a nearby hotel, and it is revealed that demonic flames have consumed Fortuna. When they find the demon that started it, Corrin realizes that there are two conglomerates of souls within it. She destroys one, but when Vergil destroys the other, the Qliphoth souls knock him out of his demon form. Corrin is able to hold them off but is struck by an arrow before she can save him. Nero is knocked unconscious by a beam of light, and Dante is eventually subdued by dozens of arrows to his demon form.
Leo arrives and says that his family was killed by the Qliphoth Tree, and he vowed to kill Vergil to avenge them. Corrin fights him off, but both of her weapons are shattered. She manages to use Yamato for a brief time but breaks her soul as she kills Leo. However, a corrupted piece of his soul fuels a final strike, killing her with a sword to the chest. Vergil admits that he loves her, hoping it will ease her soul as the souls begin to drag him back to hell.
Corrin bursts into flames, healing the Spardas and triggering for the first time. It is revealed that she is the Phoenix, and Leo was unaware. Her demon brutally murders Leo before Vergil is able to stop her, using her demon’s natural submission to break her out of her trigger. However, her power mixed with the damage sustained from using Yamato rendered her blind. Vergil laments his inability to protect her and her family but promises that he will not fail any of them again.
After the attack, Kyrie works with the survivors alongside another volunteer and friend, Miranda. Vergil asks for her help, as he plans to take Corrin to the Underworld. Meanwhile, Corrin is distraught to learn that her sight is truly gone. Later, she hallucinates Gaius’s voice, and Vergil says they are leaving that night. Dante decides to go with them, as he wants to find a demon arm that will let him kill corrupted souls.
Before leaving, Vergil and Nero talk. At Nero’s request, Vergil tells him of his mother, Olivia, who he met when he broke into the library in Fortuna’s church. He left because he was afraid of losing her, unaware that she was pregnant. He also tells Nero what happened during his imprisonment, which angers Nero (“no one deserves that”). Nero says he is proud that Vergil took responsibility for his mistakes, and hopes Vergil he can be happy with them. He also believes that Vergil is truly in love with Corrin, and tells him to protect her, as Nero himself promised to do for Kyrie.
At Kai’s home, he says that Corrin’s soul is splitting in two, and she is suffering from some memory that she has yet to overcome. When V speaks to Vergil, Kai sees a second, smaller soul. Vergil says he split himself with Yamato, and Kai says that he actually divided his soul. When Vergil reformed, a small piece of his human form separated, and Corrin’s resurrection strengthened it. Kai believes he can use the empowered V to save Corrin’s life. Vergil agrees to it, and Kai connects the piece of V to Corrin, removing it from Vergil.
Meanwhile, Dante finds a reaver named Helios, revealed to be Gaius’ father. After Dante defeats him in a single blow, Helios says that the Spider is actually his daughter, Mira, who Gaius kidnapped to get back at Helios for “ruining him”. Helios agrees to go with Dante to try and save her, aware that he may have to kill Gaius to do so.
Meanwhile, Corrin dreams with V, and relives the day that Gaius assaulted her in an attempt to claim her. When it failed, he killed her, prompting her first resurrection. But her mother, Celeste, created a veil around her soul that erased the memory of her death (but not the assault).
The two are dragged into a second nightmare and are attacked by a version of Nelo Angelo that Corrin took from Vergil when healing his soul. While he nearly kills them, Corrin is able to subdue Nelo by talking to his soul (as she did for Vergil) and asks V to come back with her. V jokes that he is her “Nightmare” (comparing himself to the familiar of the same name) and agrees.
Meanwhile, Vergil realizes that Kai is Corrin’s real father and that her real name is Ashira. Kai says that he had a close connection with Sparda long before Vergil and Dante were born. He explains that Corrin does not have access to her full powers, as he must die before it can be passed on. He gives Vergil a sword he names Fumetsu and a gem that contains Sparda’s memories that he left behind for Vergil himself, as he knew his connection with Kai would likely make their firstborns Soulmates.
It is revealed that Sparda was friends with Kai’s mother, Elisandra, who died protecting Sparda from Samael. This is ultimately what convinced Sparda to help Kai and the humans, as he mourned her death, something he thought incapable for a demon. He let Kai tether to him until they could find Kai’s own Soulmate and left for the human world after Sparda defeated Mundus. V arrives during the memory, and Vergil is relieved that Corrin survived
Kai and Corrin practice with her magic and discuss the history of the Phoenix. He explains that the Phoenix is a special kind of reaver who passes a piece of their soul to those they choose to take their power, and the full Phoenix can talk to them by resonating. However, they need to survive a couple thousand years before they can pass those memories and powers on. Corrin tells Vergil that her full sight did not return, but she can see him and V, as well as souls.
However, Kai says that their tether is not complete, and Corrin has to “kill” Vergil with one of her feathers, which will bind his soul to the Phoenix’s cycle of rebirth. When Kai leaves, Vergil tells Corrin that he remembers everything from their time before the Qliphoth incident.
Meanwhile, in the human world, Kyrie is kidnapped by Miranda who wishes that things could have been different. Nero, Dante, and the others search for her using Helios’ power, as Miranda is actually his daughter.
In the Underworld, Vergil and Corrin practice with her feathers, but she struggles to slip between her human and devil forms. Regardless, Vergil is impressed by her tenacity. When the two rest, Corrin admits that she wishes Vergil could choose to be her Soulmate or not, and he says he always has the choice. Furthermore, Vergil believes that Corrin’s demon half may be acting up because he has not officially claimed her. When she jokingly calls him a “kind of generous mate”, Vergil is surprised to find that it bothers him, as it is his human self that cares for her. He gives her a ring he bought after his conversation with Nero and the two mutually decide to enjoy a long night together.
Back in the human world, Kyrie’s soul is separated from her body, but Mira is crying over the loss. Kyrie meets a wolf revealed to be Celeste, who barely escaped Gaius 20 years ago by putting her soul into her companion. When Kyrie says she wants to save Mira, Celeste gives her the remainder of her power, and Kyrie is able to talk to Mira as the others arrive. It is revealed that the spider on her back is an amalgamation of a single soul. When it is broken, a massive dragon appears, revealed to be Samael who was betrayed by Mundus with Gaius’ help. Dante leaves to fight it as Nero takes the others to safety.
Vergil and Corrin wake up together, and Vergil (in no uncertain terms), says that she is now his, and no one will ever touch her again. This satisfies her own demon half. Corrin seeks out Kai. He explains that she and Vergil met when they were very young, but Mundus’ attack forced him into hiding. Celeste made a veil around Corrin’s soul while Vergil’s memory was erased by magic Sparda left behind. Kai regrets this, but Corrin forgives him. But demons cut their conversation short and kidnap Kai while Corrin runs from Gaius.
During this conversation, Vergil uses the gem to find a memory of Sparda speaking alone in the woods; a message for Vergil himself. Sparda knows that Vergil has likely found Ashira again (as he planned to leave the gem with Kai). However, Sparda admits that he used to search for nothing but power. And while he got it - as only the strongest demon could have sealed Mundus away - he knew something was missing. He admits that he wanted to tell Vergil this as a child, but worried he would not understand.
“By now, you have probably learned of your connection to the Phoenix. And, if you are anything like you were as a child, you’ve likely accepted it. Mundus wants her, Vergil. Not Kai… [Yamato] was forged in the fires of a dear friend of mine thousands of years ago… and is the only blade capable of handling Phoenix fire without destroying itself.”
Sparda reminds Vergil that his power doesn’t lie just in his demon half, but in his human compassion and commitment that regular demons cannot experience, and promises that he will always be proud of him.
Corrin finds him, and Vergil tells her they have to leave Kai behind. However, Mundus’ arrival almost cripples him with panic, and Corrin pulls him back and convinces him to run. Gaius chases after them and becomes more deranged when Vergil tells him that his attempt to take Corrin failed because she was already bound to him. Before Vergil can kill him, he is pulled away by Mundus, who uses Kai’s power to take himself (and his castle) into the human world, where he begins to draw the angry Qliphoth victims to his own soul, corrupting it.
The two track down Pythagoras admits that he knew something was off about Corrin (as her powers didn’t match that of a daughter of Celeste), but not exactly who she was. He then reveals that Samael gave him research notes before Mundus betrayed him, including a detailed book of Vergil himself, which Corrin burns. Pythagoras says that Mundus wants to put himself into Vergil’s body. They agree that they have to send Corrin after Kai, while Vergil and Nero (who Vergil is initially hesitant to involve) distract Mundus. When they do return, Nero is thrilled at the chance to defeat his family’s tormentor.
Corrin and V find Kai within Mundus’ palace, and neither are surprised that Gaius is waiting. However, his soul is close to death, and he tells her that she fell for his trap. When he says that she is useless (and that her life is nothing but a lie), Corrin tells him that she is Ashira, the daughter of the Phoenix, and kills him. Kai asks her to take his power, and the two share a tearful goodbye as she does, killing him.
As Vergil and Nero struggle to fight Mundus without hurting him (due to the corruption), Vergil feels the power transfer between Ashira and her father. Dante arrives on a very angry Samael, who fights Mundus. Ashira breaks from her prison and they are able to expose Samael and Mundus’ souls for Nero and Dante to kill them. However, Mundus manages to throw a dagger at Nero with his last breath, which ends up in Vergil’s heart. Ashira is forced to use her feather to “kill” him, and Vergil is dragged into a fight with Mundus over his body.
Separated from his demon half, Vergil's guilt over the past drags him down until Nero arrives and pulls him free. Dante distracts Mundus as Nero tells Vergil to grab Ashira’s feather which will rejoin his soul. Vergil does so, and burns Mundus’ soul to ashes, defeating him once and for all.
When Nero and Dante leave, Vergil gets to speak with Sparda and Eva, as his soul needed to die in order to be reborn. Both praise him, and Eva demands that she “marry” Vergil and Ashira so she knows they’ll be happy. The two agree to it, and their souls are returned to their bodies.
Three months later, as Vergil and Ashira settle into some semblance of a normal human life, Kyrie and Nero have their wedding. Vergil comforts Nero by admitting that he technically married Ashira; therefore, Nero should have no issues marrying his lifelong partner. Nero agrees. After the wedding, Vergil finds Ashira where she says that Helios and Mira returned to the Underworld, and hoped that she could locate the other reavers who have gone into hiding. The two release a lantern with the rest of the guests, as Vergil poetically proclaims his feelings for her. The entire family gets involved in a dance battle, happy and together for the first time.
Through the Ashes (Part 1)
Nero encourages Vergil to learn more about Ashira’s daily life instead of focusing entirely on the Sparda family. However, Vergil’s concern for her safety (and an unfortunate demon-hunting accident) prompts Nero and himself to head to the Underworld. A brush with their nightmares (at the hands of a reaver named Morpheus) recreates Shadow and Griffon, which Vergil gifts to Ashira as protection.
Griffon calls Ashira “Princess” and Vergil “Boss” (but the bird actually likes them, at least a little bit). Shadow is very protective of Ashira, even going as far as to swipe at Griffon should he insult her.
Here, it is revealed that Nero has frequent Nightmares of Vergil abandoning him or his family again, and Vergil worries that he'll leave Ashira behind, which would undoubtedly lead to her death. The two reconcile in the end.
During a miserable weekend, in which Dante is knocked unconscious after spending thousands from Vergil’s personal savings, Kyrie reveals that she is pregnant with twins.
Solitude and Solidarity
After six months of Kyrie’s pregnancy, Ashira begins to wonder why she hasn’t gotten pregnant. She admits to Vergil that she hasn’t really thought about it, as neither of them has thought about children. Vergil convinces Ashira to talk to Kyrie’s doctor, Ophelia, and Vergil subtly admits that he wouldn’t mind a family with her (as long as their child is a girl as “He already has Nero”).
At the appointment, Kyrie learns that the twins are eager, and she may need to have surgery to protect them and herself. However, when examining Ashira, Ophelia suspects that the base of her soul (the part needed for a child’s soul to attach to) was damaged when Gaius killed her and gives her medicine to find out.
Kyrie goes into sudden labor far too early. Meanwhile, Ashira is nearly killed by a demonic and aggressive fever that Vergil struggles to treat. She finds the strength to create a healing feather to give to Kyrie, as Ashira is upset she could not be there for her friend.
Vergil goes to Nero, and they have a heart to heart before Nero goes to Kyrie. Unfortunately, both Kyrie and Ashira begin to die, and Vergil resonates with Ashira to try and stop the other Phoenixes from killing her.
Ashira comes to accept the Phoenixes and welcomes their memories and powers fully. Kai says he is proud of her, and Vergil promises to protect her until she can heal her own soul in a couple hundred years.
Angelica is born without issue, but the strain on Kyrie's body nearly kills her and the second child, Kaiden. However, Ashira's healing feather saved both, imbuing Kaiden with the powers of the Phoenix. Nero and Kyrie decided to name him after Ashira's father, Kai, and remind her that she is part of their family.
Through the Ashes (Part 2)
Ashira suffers from extreme anxiety after the incident, something that Vergil periodically helps her with.
The family throws an impromptu wedding to cheer her and Kyrie up. Nico gives Ashira glasses to temporarily fix her blindness. Vergil also learns that Kyrie worries that her family will struggle to move on should anything happen to the humans in their life.
Vergil and Ashira learn that the closer they get to each other, the stronger their connection is. This is the start of their mental connection, where- with enough focus - they can communicate telepathically. This becomes more natural after about 6-7 years, leading to near-permanent, quiet noise in their minds that both find comfort in (and feel strange when it's missing). This is most obvious in Purr-Plexed but explored further in Alpha and Omega.
Dante challenges Vergil to a music battle. It doesn't end well for Dante.
Divergence
Dante invites/forces Vergil and Ashira to join him and Nico on a mission to Turtle Cove, where many residents have gone missing and there are signs of abnormal demons. However, Dante’s real goal is to give Vergil and Ashira a vacation, as they’ve never celebrated an anniversary, or birthday, or anything. This deeply offends Dante (for reasons Vergil does not understand).
However, this plan unravels at their first stop where Dante learns that Lucia (who he hasn’t seen in over a decade) is in the same case. Vergil and Ashira find five dead reavers and learn from one of their companions that they were killed by something called “Azalea”, which ripped out all of their hearts. Two escaped, and Prometheus begs that they find them.  When she tries to dispel Prometheus’ soul, her own is attacked, and Vergil stops it before it kills her.
While traveling, Vergil becomes more agitated for reasons he does not know and begins to feel and hear everything around him to an unbearable degree. Ashira tries to calm him down, but he senses a group of demons that they chase after. Vergil gets into a fight with Lucia and is barely stopped by Dante. Ashira finds the missing reavers; Lir and his younger sister, Alice.
Lucia reveals that a demon prince has found their way into the human world, and is searching for a way to extract Vergil’s heart, which would allow them to take the throne of the Underworld. Since Vergil ate the Qliphoth fruit, the throne has not accepted anyone else as king, which has thrown everything into chaos and forced many reavers into hiding. Vergil leaves to not draw the king to their family, and Ashira realizes that he is losing control of his demon half.
In Turtle Cove, Ashira tracks down Pythagoras who shows her the hidden city of reavers and tells her that Vergil alone will not be able to help them. Instead, Ashira must convince his demon half to accept her as his Queen. This becomes a dangerous task when it is revealed that Vergil’s demon wants to claim her, and does not see her as an equal despite Vergil’s own feelings towards her.
Meanwhile, Dante and Lucia reconnect during some time together, and Dante realizes he genuinely missed her. But their mini-date is cut off when they find three more bodies, and Vergil tells them the missing hearts (with the exception of the human who was left behind and filled with vines) is identical to those they found. He tells Dante to protect Ashira and leaves.
Unfortunately, Lucia succumbs to poison, and it is revealed that “Azalea” is actually Lir’s power: a seed planted in one’s soul that can be activated, forcing them to do what they are told or lose their hearts. Dante turns her into a Devil Arm to try and save her but is infected himself and told to take Vergil’s heart for a Demoness who calls herself “The Shade” (and had pretended to be a Demon Prince by using Lir).
Ashira drags Lir and Alice back to Pythagoras, and Lir says he joined the demoness to try and save his family (as reavers were being slaughtered). He was supposed to infect Ashira, but Vergil took it instead (when saving her from Prometheus). Lir is furious that Ashira (the Phoenix) did not come back for them, but Pythagoras ridicules him, as Ashira is still very young and needed more time. Lir admits that Alice (who’s real name is Iris) has stronger control over these plants than he does, but he lied to protect her. With Iris’ encouragement, Lir allows Ashira to turn him into a Devil Arm to save the twins, but his connection to her soul kills him.
Ashira gives V a fake Yamato to trick Vergil’s demon into fighting him as she tries to save Dante. Eventually, Dante is able to force his own demon to miss Ashira and is struck with the magic from Azalea. This dispels the poison, and Ashira tells him and Lucia to leave and promises to take care of Vergil. However, they all know that she and Vergil may not return for quite some time.
Ashira finds Vergil in his demon form and tells him that they can save the reavers and other demons in the Underworld. However, the Shade stabs her multiple times before Azalea finishes healing him. However, Vergil is able to overcome the Shade’s demands and kills her. He and his demon accept Ashira as their Queen and takes the throne.
Three years go by before they are able to return to the human world, where it is revealed that Iris is Kaiden’s soulmate, and their family is thrilled to see them again. Vergil and Ashira promise to visit as often as possible.
Post Divergence
Vergil gives Nero his half of the perfect amulet (after extracting it from Devil Sword Dante with some demon king voodoo magic (TM)). He hopes it is an acceptable inheritance (as he feels he cannot give Yamato away). Nero gives him an impromptu hug and finally acknowledges that he's glad Vergil's his father, despite his mistakes.
Lots of fluff here. Vergil tries to bake. Dante gets his family drunk. Vergil's makes some silly (spicy) promises. Dante even turns into a cat at some point.
But, most notably, Ashira is able to find the last of Vergil's familiars Nightmare, who seems excited to see Vergil again.
And there you have it! The quick catch up for the entire Through the Ashes series pre-Alpha and Omega!
Now to return to my writing cave until the next few drabbles are complete. See ya’ll soon!

HC dump Vergil
Vergil* does not remember his childhood. Anything that happened before the destruction of their home and his initial separation from Dante is gone. He cannot recollect any single memory. They have begun to return in dreams, but only at a misty distance. Ironically, this wakes him screaming because
Mundus shocks the childhood right out of him. He makes certain any memory of his parents is stained with agony. Vergil doesn’t connect this TO them, but to whatever memories he might have had of them. So coupled with extreme trauma, separation anxiety, and a rough young adulthood, Vergil is very detached from anything that might have made him a warm, inviting person as Dante is. This actually starts quite young, before Vergil is even conscious of Mundus’s identity or presence.
He does remember Dante. He thinks Dante was killed along with Eva as she tried to protect him. Initially, the boy (who is eight or nine at the most) assumes his mother had been going to GET Dante, to hide them together. As he grows, he wonders why she didn’t just take Vergil with her. This becomes the assumption that, given where Dante may have been hiding, she could only save one of them and chose Dante, which got them both killed. Once he finds that Dante is alive, there is a very real part of him that blames DANTE for Eva’s death.
The house collapsed on him, but his half-breed blood gave him a durability a human child would not have had. He was wrested from the smoking rubble by one of Mundus’s demons. This was his first kill. Clutching Yamato, a very recent gift from Sparda, he eviscerates the beast-in-human-form. He is never sure if the man he killed had been possessed or simply taking the form of a human being, but those memories, too, are fuzzy.
Eva and Sparda are excellent parents and love their sons very much. They want for nothing. For their seventh birthday, Dante and Vergil are given their amulets, the keys to the door Sparda sealed two thousand years in the past. For their eighth, mere days before the attack that will their life as they know it, Sparda gives them their weapons.
Rebellion and Yamato are physical extensions of the demonic parts of the twins’ souls, forged by magic and made to channel that immense power. Without these, they might have suffered physical mutations, like Nero, whose demon blood had no outlet and so began to manifest in his arm. In the Underworld, Sparda’s home plane, devil arms are formed by the demons’ souls on their own, though  most demons take on a monstrous form and have no need of these. Sparda is a fairly high-order demon and so has more control over his form.
Rebellion has the power of unification. It has evolved over the years to suit Dante’s style and his soul, too has influenced its power and form. Yamato possesses the power of division. It can be used to open doorways between locations on the same plane and, possible, between them. On the top of Temen-ni-Gru, Vergil runs Dante through with Rebellion, awakening his devil trigger and unlocking his full, demonic potential by essentially uniting that which Dante had, in his way, fought against. Vergil has no use for his humanity and has pushed it away his entire life, even going so far, at one point, as to fully separate himself form it in the form of V.
Vergil is very divorced from his emotions—or the appropriate expression thereof—most of the time. Dante is the only one who seems to be able to get a proper rise out of him. Otherwise, he is cold, cruel, and merciless, giving no warning and having no remorse. It is not even clear, after the events of DMC5 if it is HE who truly regrets his past actions, or if that was simply V, who, having been absorbed, has now also been reintegrated, for Vergil’s whole mind to deal with as it pleases.
Mundus has stalked Vergil since childhood, sensing vulnerability and an opportunity for the ultimate revenge on the demon who betrayed him. Vergil’s descent into the world of demons is Mundus’s opportunity, because Vergil genuinely believes it is he who is making this conscious decision when in fact Mundus has visited him in dreams for years, offering up horrendous nightmares, sweet words of false comfort, and the promise of the one thing of which Vergil cannot acquire enough: Power.
Vergil has an extremely low alcohol tolerance. Unclear why.
He possesses the gift of instantaneous translocation, not unlike teleportation, but with a magical component, rather than scientific. This is something Dante could never grasp. The more magically inclined of the two, Vergil takes to it quickly as a child, which Sparda praises as this will surely serve Vergil in his later years with the sword the demon knight will give him. Yamato is built for speed and Vergil’s movement style perfectly complements this. That isn’t to say Dante isn’t fast, but he can’t teleport, which puts a damper on quick combat—at least with Rebellion. A claymore of that size can only be swung so quickly, though Dante certainly pushes the envelope. It’s a magical sword, but still absolutely weighs more than its counterpart, Yamato.
Yamato’s sheath IS part of the sword. Minus the cutting effect, hitting something with the sheath is the same as hitting it with the sword itself.
Vergil visits Fortuna island somewhere between the events of the first novel (in which he masquerades as a green-suited man named Gilver) and DMC3: Dante’s Awakening, wherein he raises the tower Temen-ni-Gru to essentially punch a stable hole in the fabric of reality. He knows by  now that Yamato is capable of such a feat on a much smaller scale and seeks out the worshipers of his father to learn more.
He meets Arkham, who has already sacrificed his wife and has begun his demonic transition. Mary is nowhere to be found, having escaped her mad father’s evil machinations. Arkhman is a studious follower of Agnus and the other leaders of the Order, though he does not believe in the principle of Sparda worship, so much as the pursuit of power. Arkham takes advantage of Vergil’s abandonment issues and the void in his life where there ought to be some form of family. Vergil’s pride prevents him seeing this and he falls deeper into it, beginning to depend on Arkham, however brutally he may seem to treat the man.
In exchange for some of Vergil’s DNA, Agnus gives Arkham a book which contains the secret to opening the Temen-ni-Gru gateway. It’s an old book, prophetic in nature, but there is enough in there to point them in the right direction so, under the guise of excommunication for his fundamental ways, Arkham leaves with Vergil, who has his suspicions, but thus far, Arkham has served him well.
*Classic DMC Vergil, in this case. I’ve not yet made a bio for DmC Vergil, but I’d like to think I will in the future. [Kamski voice] You never know.

Soooo.... About the rest of Vergil's drunkin' promises... (人 •͈ᴗ•͈)
I’ve actually had more than one request for these, and I wasn’t quite sure when I would tackle it. But now that I have this rather adorable request in my inbox, my brain was finally like I GOTCHU FAM(S), so now here we are. 😏 I’ve finally built up the courage edited this story enough to post.
This is a follow up to Intoxication and Promises (but you don’t really need either if ya don’t want). Also, I’m still practicing the spice, so uhhh… there’s that.
And it’s also NSFW. So here’s a nice Vergil picture because… I mean why not?

High Praises
Ashira might have wondered how she’d gotten herself into this predicament if Vergil gave her a second to do so. But every time she tried to form a coherent thought, he’d nip at her thigh in a silent “warning” of some kind (though she wasn’t opposed to seeing where that “warning” might lead, given the circumstances). When she tried to admonish him for that he’d lick in just the right spot where her words either died on her lips or came out as a jumbled mess. At some point, she’d given up completely and had pulled on his hair in some kind of lame defiance.
Except he loved it when she did that, so that “defiance” was very, very short-lived.
But fuck. All of this - his wicked thoughts, devilish tongue, and the way he just stared straight into her eyes without any hesitation or shame - had her so close to tumbling straight off the metaphorical precipice that she was half surprised she’d managed to stay on the bed.
Though considering the way his hands had all but clamped down on her hips, maybe that wasn’t all that surprising.
He’d caught her off-guard earlier when he’d quite literally and without warning knelt in front of her when she had tried to get out of bed. And he’d been completely silent as he’d gently glided one of her legs over his shoulder and planted an absurd amount of butterfly kisses along her thigh. “My beautiful queen,” He’d murmured, dragging the silk of her own damn nightgown so tenderly against her skin that all she could do was shiver, eyes locked on his. And he’d stared right back. In fact, Ashira was quite certain his eyes hadn’t deviated from that one spot, even when her own threatened to roll into the back of her head. “It seems I have some… atoning to do.”
“For…?”
She hissed as his teeth grazed along her thigh. “I made a promise,” He said. “And I have yet to fulfill it. A faux pas on my part, but nothing that can’t be remedied.” His voice was unfairly seductive and unbearably husky. Though considering the myriad of ways he’d used it over their rather long married life, she was more than used to hearing it.
It didn’t make him any less pleasing to listen to. If anything, it made her find ways to hear this version of him more often.
So, in her haze of arousal she’d smiled back and said, “And here I thought you forgot.”
He slid his hands up along her hips, pulling her nightgown out of the way. “I never forget.”
“Except when you’re hopelessly drunk.”
Ashira fully accepted the more forceful bite she got for that. Not enough to break skin- never that - but certainly enough to leave a mark. “Careful,” He murmered as he drug the pads of his fingers back down her abdomen and along the elastic of her underwear. “Or I may just forget right now.”
“Never,” She said as she drew small, lazy circles along his knuckles. “That would be dishonorable.” And while that would probably be enough permission for most people, Vergil still waited, even as his eyes hazed over with his own arousal. And as Ashira finally felt the last remnants of her sleepiness fade away, she brushed her fingers through his hair. “Which promise, my love?”
“If you put your trust in me,” He said as he drug her panties down in such an agonizing place that it took everything she had to keep from bucking right into his face. “I’ll worship you, as a Queen should be.”
The first time he had said it however long ago (six months? A year? Bah it didn’t matter) had been arousing enough, but she’d brushed it off as it had only been spoken after she’d managed to get him wrapped up in an absurd amount of blankets. And of all the promises he’d made that night, that was the one she assumed he’d never remember. It hadn’t been part of the long, drunk ramble where he’d practically agreed to sleep with her on the moon if she’d asked, so she didn’t think that she’d given him that particular part of the memory. Clearly, it had drifted between them at some point; she just didn’t know when.
The second time, however, had her stomach flipping in pure desire
His expression turned a touch too smug. “I never forget, my beloved.”
Now here she was, struggling to keep herself upright, much less hold herself back. Vergil was far too good at this; something she had both known and forgotten at some point in the last however long. The reminder, while torturous in all the right ways, was welcome. But beneath her pleasure was a hint of frustration. She wanted more, and was positive that he knew it too.
“Impatient, my love?” His coy voice echoed in her mind. “This is all for you.”
She tugged on his hair again in mock annoyance. “Says the one in control.”
A soft hum echoed back as his tongue circled her clit. “Dammit Verg-” Even her thoughts vanished as his fingers slipped through her folds with astounding ease. Her arms shook with a mix of pleasure and exertion, and she wanted nothing more than to just flop back onto the bed and let him do whatever he wanted. But when her eyes trailed to the ceiling, he stopped moving - again. That was quickly becoming his favorite tease - and she forced herself to meet his gaze. His finger pressed against her most sensitive spot in silent praise, and she couldn’t fight back the groan of pleasure. “Why must you do this to me?”
He chuckled, his breath much too warm against her skin. “You would do the same.”
She had done the same, in fact, but she was much too stubborn to admit it. And even if she wanted to, the pressure of a second finger wiped her mind of any suitable response. She barely noticed when his lips drifted to her stomach. She didn’t wonder how he kept such an infuriating pace while completely ignoring her own attempts to push back against him. When his lips met hers, she was too busy trying to find more friction to question how he’d actually gotten there.
He pulled away far too soon; both his lips and his fingers from her core. She growled, clenching her muscles in an attempt to keep him there. But he simply smirked and slipped right out regardless. “You’re much too wet for that, my Queen.” Her second attempt to intimidation was cut short by a sinful moan as his teeth grazed down on the pulse in her neck. His fingers caressed her spine, painting her skin with her own fluids.
“You coy, sinful, infuriating devil.”
He bit her neck in response, before peppering her collarbone with a mixture of kisses and nibbles. When he reached the other side, the hand on her back slipped under her thigh as his knee teasingly pressed against her entrance. The silk of his pants was pure heaven against her swollen clit, and she bit her lip to keep from begging for him. Of course, her desire swirled in her mind as often as his name. When she finally dared to speak it, he silenced her with a kiss as he effortlessly lifted her enough to push them both back onto the bed.
Ashira’s eyes widened as he sat up, stripping off his cumbersome shirt before swooping in for another kiss. She arched into him, sighing in content when he pushed her back down with his chest, pinning her to the bed beneath him. His hands found her wrists, but he lightly scraped the skin of her arms in endless and nonsensical lines.
“Let me,” She murmured as she tugged gently at his hand. He paused for a moment, face buried in the crook of her neck. Their hearts were in perfect sync, practically crashing into each other with each erratic beat. But that was normal. They both knew each other so well. He the most sensitive pieces of her skin, and exactly how to draw whatever sound of hers he wanted. But she knew what he wanted, too; tender brushes through his scalp (or not so tender, under the right circumstances). Soft lines traced against the muscles of his arms, shoulders, or chest. And as she tugged on those memories in his own head- two decades of knowledge- he eventually let one of her hands go as he pressed his own down to steady himself. She kissed him in appreciation and brushed along his arm. His head didn’t move, and a quiet groan against Ashira’s neck made her shiver.
“Vergil,” She whispered. He knew she was desperate, no matter how controlled she kept her voice. But she knew he’d done the same to himself. As she pressed her fingers along the muscles of his arm, she gently rolled her hips against the mound he could no longer hide. There was a small attempt to pull away from her, but a second kiss brought him right back. “Don’t hold back, my love.”
He lifted himself just enough to meet her eyes. But even in the clutches of desire, he still managed a smirk. “Is my Queen begging?”
She felt her demon-half bristle before she could stop it. But as her eyes changed, so did his: bright, draconic blue staring down at golden irises. But she didn’t want blind passion. Not after he’d spent so achingly long attending to her while expecting nothing in return. Despite his clear need, she knew from his thoughts that he would be content to drive her to her own peak, and save his own for another time.
But that’s not what she wanted. And this was technically a promise for her. So, she reached up and brushed her thumb along his cheekbone. “If that is what you wish from me,” She said. “Then yes, my king. I submit to you.”
He was gone for only a moment, yet her heart swelled the second he returned. She slid her hand back into his, and he lifted it to his lips, kissing each knuckle with equal tenderness. On the last one, he intertwined their fingers. When he leaned in to press a kiss to her temple, he guided himself deep into her core; slow and sensual. A simple gesture that pushed her close to tears. Once he’d pushed himself in as far as possible, he paused, kissing the corners of both of her eyes before capturing her lips again.
His pace was slow, but Ashira found she didn’t mind it. Life always seemed to move a bit too fast nowadays. Too many people demanding too many things in such a short amount of time. Stolen kisses were often all they could manage. And if they found time for intimacy, it was going to be slow. Not necessarily gentle, as they both found thrill in aggressive love making as they did anything else, but drawn-out pleasure that would tide them over until they had another chance.
And the gentle rocking of his hips with hers was more than enough. Each thrust pushed him as deep as she could take him, and each pull drew out her own pleasure in an endless cycle. After some time, his head fell back into her shoulder, and she slid her fingers along his scalp before pulling him as close as she could. A comfortable warmth radiated between them. Their intertwined hands were off to the side, anchoring them both into some kind of reality. And as her legs quivered, and a warmth bloomed from her chest, she squeezed his hand tighter. When pleasure ripped through her muscles, all she could do was whisper his name over and over again like a wonderful, reverent prayer.
And when her mind finally settled somewhat back into her body, his pace quickened, chasing his own pleasure. She rolled with him, rubbing circles along the base of his neck. He lifted his head from her shoulder, and pressed it back against her forehead. “Look at me, Saina.” His demonic eyes snapped open in a heartbeat, and she felt him teeter on the edge, searching for that last little push. “I’m here,” She said. “I’ve got you.”
His hand tightened on hers when he finally found his release. Even as he kissed her senseless, he felt his warmth splitting within her. A breathy moan escaped, followed by his own shudder as her pleasure looped back in on him. She kissed him gently to pull him back, and the two waited in comfortable silence. When their bodies finally relaxed- aside from their deep, content breathing- he pulled away and drew her back toward their pillows. She curled against his chest, smiling as he tried to pry out the blankets from under her. He gave up halfway, oddly impatient, and grabbed a fleece one from under the bed. “At least nothing caught on fire this time,” Ashira mumbled as she wrapped her arms around his stomach and nuzzled his chest.
Vergil snorted. “Pythy still isn’t over that.”
“And he never will be,” She said as her eyes drifted shut. “He’ll be laughing about it in his grave if the old geezer ever manages to find one.”
Vergil’s gentle laugh was enough for her to ease into a quiet slumber.
