Kuroshitcember 2022 Prompt Nr. 3

Prompt: Agni stands by his prince in absolute silence. Why? What is he thinking about? How does he feel? How long has he been doing this for?

Summary: Agni fears for his prince's mental health... but it turns out that Ciel and Sebastian are there to help already. CW: well, this was a first draft and I haven't had the time to read it through yet... so I really apologise for any mistakes aha. OH and I have NEVER written Agni before... ever... so this was a challenge, tbh. Otherwise, no warnings!

Agni always had something positive and gentle to say. Agni always had a gentle little smile on his lips.

Yet that morning, Agni didn’t.

He stood in absolute silence by Prince Soma as the boy fawned over Ciel. Ciel was doing his best to push his “friend” away, but was not having much luck of it. In the end, Ciel had to coax Soma into wanting to play a game of cards just so Ciel could have some personal space back.

Prince Soma was very prone to cheating, and therefore the two had a rule that when playing cards, Soma would sit far away from Ciel. Or, well, Ciel had made that rule. Soma didn’t like it, but obeyed.

Agni remained quiet even as Sebastian approached and joined him in watching over their masters. Usually, Agni would offer a greeting. But not this day.

This day, Agni didn’t seem to be quite present in their reality.

“What is the matter?” Sebastian asked as gently as he could, despite finding it utterly annoying when humans became like this.

Their emotions were so fragile their brains would create new worlds for them to escape to, or their thoughts would take over from them being present in their reality. If a demon did this, they would be jumped by another demon within seconds.

Didn’t humans realise the dangers of not being present? Didn't they realise what would happen if their minds wandered too far away from them…?

Ugh…

“You have said naught a word since your arrival here. Usually, you at least have a few words for the young master, if not for me.”

Agni let out a little sigh, drawn back to the conscious world by Sebastian’s words. His eyes glanced at Sebastian, and he could physically see the thought he had  been obsessing over disappear from his eyes.

“Today is Prince Soma’s birthday.”

“Yes,” Sebastian agreed with a nod of his head, “I do believe that is why the young master made an appearance.”

“Yes… Which, of course, we appreciate ever so much.” Agni sighed again, though, which was a contradiction to his gentle words. “His father has not even sent word to England to congratulate his own son.”

“Perhaps the letter has yet to arrive,” Sebastian offered. In his mind, Sebastian wasn’t the greatest at offering reassurance to humans. In reality, he was actually quite good at it. He simply didn’t understand he was.

“Perhaps… But I doubt it. I fear what my young prince is truly feeling. He has a tendency to hide his emotions, you know. You wouldn’t think so looking at him, but he is actually quite an emotionally fragile person. Ciel’s presence has made things so much better.” Agni offered a sad smile. “At least my prince has a friend.”

Awkwardly, Sebastian glanced over at Ciel and Soma. Truth was that Ciel didn’t quite care for Soma, but… Sebastian could also see through most of that. Ciel was just acting tough. It was his idea, after all, to visit the town house in London in time for Soma’s birthday.

Ciel even had a gift for him, which was to be given later during dinner.

“I assure you, your master is not alone. My master will ensure he has a somewhat decent birthday. And I will ensure dinner tastes as splendidly as always.”

“Thank you, Sebastian,” Agni said with a sincere smile, his chest relieved ever so slightly.

Unfortunately for Sebastian, making Agni feel better meant that he was chatty again. But strangely enough, Sebastian didn’t quite mind it… it had been more disturbing to see Agni quiet.

Strange… Was this what it felt like to be friends with someone?

-constantly putting on a somewhat fake personality, not being able to relate to any of his peers, having no close personal relationships even in the start of the story except for his family/his dad, being extremely focused on being the best student and then becoming god of the new world instead of any kind of personal relationship.

-when after he finally becomes successful all the other Addisons abandon him so this is most likely what he tells himself

-deliberately pushing away Soma, Agni, Lizzy and everyone else really. He is SO DETERMINED to be alone.

-refering to how he reached his peak when he beat L but then had to fall. Also um this works so well for a certain fic named Icarus read it maybe

-his Spamton Neo form literally had wings and he talked about getting into [HEAVEN] but when we freed him it turned out he as a darkner didn't have the ability to live freely and he died. So basically his attempts to achieve a higher power/be free were going to "burn" him from the beginning. What a perfect icarus figure, what else do you want...

-his story technically isn't finished yet but this is likely how it will end

Oh! Another thing *spins around in a chair* i also write a CielOC black butler fanfic, A Rose For Elsie, that centers around the romantic relationship of ciel phantomhive and my OC, Elsie. Ciel is aged up in my fic, as he is 13 years old (a spunky preteen) in canon, but my fic takes place in the future, set in the early 1910s right around the same time when the Cottingley Hoax took place (the focal point of the fic). Ciel is 18 and Elsie is 16. (I've written a few saucy scenes between them ;) but they are still hidden in my computer lol) Elsie is actually based off the REAL ELSIE WRIGHT who concocted the fairy hoax with her little cousin that, simply, fooled alot of people in England at the time. Including Sir Arthur Conan Doyle who was a big spiritualist that believed and hyped the hoax; increasing its popularity. I still consider Elsie my OC, even though i grabbed her from history. i took her story and made it my own. If anyone is a self insert, well, it would be Elsie Wright.

Considering Elsie Wright was a breathing and living person at one point and time. But i changed her. I made her into what i wanted her to be. I gave her a goal, to one she would see through even of it meant lying to alot of people around her.

And that's actually something Yana Toboso does in Black Butler. Her characters are based off real people in history. Queen Victoria. Prince Albert. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and more. Toboso's work is also inspired from historical events that happened in London during the 1890s. The manga can be read as a historical fantasy.

So why i made this fic? I wanted to write a romance in the black butler universe. I read about Elsie's story and i was inspired. I didn't know which character to pair her with so i looked at the cast. Not sebastian michaelis bc he's a thousands upon thousands year old demon who really doesn't care about human things, let alone love, he was the first to go. (Even tho i loooove him and there are alot of sebastianOC fics 😍) Not Bard the chef, he's too focused on not burning down the kitchen. Not Finny the gardener, well i did consider him actually, but also not really, so he was a no too. Tanaka.....he's the grandpa so nope XD Agni? No. Soma? No. Charles? No. William? DEFINITELY NO.

Then i thought of Ciel. He's my favorite but He's also the most bratty, rude, selfish, and cruel 13 year old earl on the face of England. He's 13 years old and he's hell bent on taking revenge on those who have betrayed the Phantomhive Family. I couldn't write a love story----even just a crush---- between a 13 year old ciel and an 11 year old Elsie even if i wanted to because at this point in Ciel's life, he couldn't put another person before himself let alone love them. There is still too much pain in his life from what happened to him. Ciel is not forgiving. During book of circus, When reminded him of his past he ordered sebastian to burn a manor down (while people were still inside) bc there was a man in there that contributed to his family's downfall. Ciel isn't forgiving. He has been betrayed and hurt and backstabbed----even by his own family. At 13, Ciel's only focus is upholding the family name. He's Lord Phantomhive, and he wears that title with pride. But could i imagine him in love or even having a crush at this point in his life? The answer was no. At this point in his life, he couldn't even love himself, so how is he supposed to love another? The solution? Set the story in the future with an aged up ciel. Give him the time he needed to recover, even just a little, and let him grow up. Physically and mentally. Let him now have the capability, the possibility, to open up his heart. Because this 13 year old kid? He couldn't love anyone nor would he try to love anyone. But when he is older, i imagined that he could love another. Which makes writing a CielOC fic a fun challenge XD (like a post Victorian era inspired story in which a country girl falls in love with an mysterious Earl while fae are running around England, sign me up XD, that and romances are really meant for young adult characters, not kiddos djfjfjfjf and canon Ciel's idea of a date would be sending sebastian to take his place HAHAHA)

i write a killua and oc family fun fanfic that occurs after canon in which killua is a 34 year old single dad, with a son (Elodea, who is 13 years old), living his best life. Gon and alluka are married, with a child of their own (his name is Gen and is a ravenous bookworm). Kalluto, in his early thirties, is married (to an OC named Violante, mistress of poisons) and they too have kids of their own, three in fact. Reye, Koh, and Claira. My favorite troublesome siblings (Claira is the most mischievous and her innocence works to her advantage hehe) Illumi is there, in his forties, and is basically being the terror and buzz kill to killua’s family and all happiness that has ever existed (and he’s being haunted by the ghost of his first boyfriend (an OC named Oz) so he’s always busy, yay :3 ) And there are more! Madrid (the island heiress who lost it all) the kids on the island, powerful nen users who existed thousands of years ago on the Dark Continent, Zoldyck butlers who honestly chose the wrong career path, and finally to the wacky fella who runs an antique shop. Oh! More hunter OCs!! Corona, Dante, Rathke, Hydra, Daehyun, and Loomis (who is a clone, of sorts XD)

There is nothing much to this post other than: I love OCs and OC fics, to read and write them, they’re my favorite thing 💖
