the more I think about it, the more I don't want sunrise on the reaping to be haymitch's story. partly because we already know the experience of being in the games, we've read it through katniss' eyes and both haymitch's personality and his time in the games bear enough similarities to katniss that it wouldn't be particularly adding anything new. but also because this is going to be a story about propaganda and submission/control and the thing is that the readers know haymitch: all the fear and horror and cunning and desperation we've felt through katniss' games and the traumatised but ultimately good man he becomes. whereas the protagonist may not know haymitch in the same way and/or may be viewing his time in the games from an outside perspective and therefore there's so much scope for an interesting story of how their perspective of him (and other tributes/the games overall) could get warped. I think there's endless possibilities for who the protagonist could be (someone back home in 12, like his girlfriend or madge's mother/katniss' mother watching maysilee form an allyship with haymitch then die in his arms? someone in the capitol? another tribute or one of their loved ones?) but I'd just love to explore that idea.
