FACE ME!!!
I've wanted to talk to you again. I know you can see me. I know you were the anon when I questioned my faith, I know it was you that for a brief moment liked a post, I sign of me crying out for something. And now here I am late at night babbling in the night. I've stepped back and forth so many times I don't know if I have progressed or declined. I see your Facebook posts all the time, my phone won't let me not see your notifications. It's hard to be reminded of you all the time. Do you hate me? This is not rhetorical: DO YOU HATE ME??? BECAUSE I HATE ME! I WASN'T GOOD FOR YOU I KNOW AND AS YOU KNOW ALL I CAN EVER SAY IS IM SORRY. Your poetry is beautiful. I know you're not following me, so maybe I'm just speaking into clouds or vapor, but if you can see this, please, talk to me. I need to know. I swear I wish you no harm, the virgo that I am. If we can get this out of the way you don't need to talk to me ever again.

Clearwater salon turns hair clippings into new products like dog beds
CLEARWATER, Fla. — Clients who walk into Alexea Burrell’s private hair studio, Whole Hearted Salon, in Clearwater are immediately greeted with warmth. From the inspirational phrases lining her walls to the plants hanging from her shelves, Burrell has always been eco-conscious. That vibe spreads past her studio as she’s partnered with a New York-based company, Green Circle. The environmentally…

BandCamp Discovered: Best Albums
1.-YAYA BEY/THE THINGS I CAN´T TAKE WITH ME
https://yayabey.bandcamp.com/album/the-things-i-cant-take-with-me
The Things I Can’t Take With Me is the newest release from multidisciplinary artist and singer-songwriter Yaya Bey. The self-produced, six-track EP follows her last album, 2020’s intimate and political Madison Tapes, which received critical praise from Pitchfork (7.7), FADER, Afropunk, Noisey, and more. Following the same spirit of her previous projects, The Things I Can’t Take With Me searches the deeply personal and refreshingly honest truths of Black womanhood and love. The project’s first single “fxck it then” radiates as an affirmative anthem for rediscovering your shine, reminding everyone that Yaya Bey “ain’t average.” It’s accompanied by new collage work created by Yaya herself, and a music video directed by Morgan B. Powell. “The video was a true labor of love,” Bey said, describing the visuals as “an ode to hood joints.” The nostalgic super 8 film aesthetic features styling by Alexea Brown and glimpses into Bey’s polaroid photography. The Things I Can’t Take With Me feels like a natural progression from last year’s Madison Tapes, both of which were recorded during the pandemic and what Bey describes as a “deep, deep depression.” But unlike the laid-back, collaborative vibe of the album, The Things I Can’t Take With Me flows like a solitary intention. Bey maneuvers effortlessly from heartbroken introspection towards a newfound security, denouncing the wack morals of an industry dude and embracing her own agency as a “bad bitch.” The EP culminates in the enthralling “protection spell,” empowering Bey in the mantra of returning to herself, whole. Her voice floats over watery guitars like a hymn: “No weapon/Formed against me/Not even you baby.” Born and raised in Queens, New York, Bey considers herself mostly an “East Coast girl” because of the formative years she spent as an adult creating and protesting in the DMV area. It was D.C. producer Chucky Thompson (known for his work with Notorious B.I.G. and Diddy) who encouraged Bey to record her own songs after years of writing for others and performing spoken word poetry. Like her dad, the pioneering rapper Grand Daddy I.U., Bey made the most out of what she had as a self-taught musician with a penchant for storytelling and an ear for sampling. Yaya Bey’s 2016 debut, The Many Alter-Egos of Trill’eta Brown, was an ambitious project that included a dreamy, largely acoustic mixtape, book, and digital collage inspired by her front-line activism as a street medic in Ferguson. “You spend two years of your life protesting and getting assaulted and arrested—you got a lot of shit to say after that,” Bey said. Bey has also developed her skills as a multidisciplinary artist, labeled “a force to be reckoned with in the art world” by Essence Magazine and acclaim from Solange’s Saint Heron agency. To date, she’s shown her collage work in galleries and has had two residencies at Brooklyn’s MoCADA Museum. She also creates her own merch and album artwork, including the visuals for her forthcoming EP.
2.- Old Moon/DREAMER SLEEPER
Having returned a few years before from NYC to the relative seclusion of his native New Hampshire, multi-instrumentalist Tom Weir started recording in his home studio as OLD MOON in the waning days of 2019. The songs he was writing—mystical, head-rush dreampop in the finest tradition of bands like For Against or Red Temple Spirits—were heavily informed by Weir's marked change in setting and daily routine, taking stock of regrets and euphorias alike from the hectic days that now seemed worlds away. The unforeseen calamities beginning over the next several months, just as for so many artists and communities the world over, would provide an entirely new scope and context for those discovering Weir's personal documents of quiet retreat, sleepless nights, and lost time as OLD MOON debuted to little fanfare with two EPs in the summer of 2020. https://oldmoon.bandcamp.com/album/dreamer-sleeper?from=embed
Now, in the wake of Weir's acclaimed full-length debut "Altars," Sister Cylinder is proud to present this exclusive reissue compilation of the project's early self-released material. Bringing together the out-of-print "Past Lives" cassette and digital-only "Messenger" release, this compilation also includes the previously unheard track "Stranger." All the way from spectral New England forests, hear the vivid, hypnogogic origin point of the unfolding dreampop story of OLD MOON.
3.- MOKOMOKAI/MOKOMOKAI
We would like to thank our whanau for their ongoing support of the work we all do as musicians. Our beautiful tamariki - Nike, Kauri and Hiwa for keeping us on our toes as fathers. This project wouldn't have come to fruition without the help we received from Troy Kingi, Chip Matthews, Willie Wes, Tai Walters and Josh Moetara. We are forever grateful for all of your expertise.

We dedicate this work to all the indigenous cultures around the world who have been affected by colonisation and as a result, have lost land, language, culture and identity. 5.- Jäde/ROMANCE
Avec la sortie de son tout premier single, Jäde, pose les bases : un RnB digital qui oscille avec aisance entre trap et future pop. 7.- TANGINGUGUN/遠くのボンゴ
1st Full album of Matsumoto based dream folk / wired pop band,TANGINGUGUN. Recorded at Give Me Little More credits released July 7, creditsreleased July 6, 2021 TANGINGUGUN Hirabayashi Saori(Vo,Bass,Synth) Niimi Masashiro(Vo,Guitar,Synth,Electronic) recording / mixing / mastering : Niimi Masashiro art work : Niimi Masashiro

8.- CONCORDE/LECOULEUR
Le Couleur polished their sound until it shined as bright as the late Studio 54's spotlights with EPs Voyage Love (2013) and Dolce Désir (2015), and then P.O.P. (2016), their critically acclaimed debut album. Thanks to precious advice from Giorgio Moroder, with whom the band had the opportunity of sharing the stage, Le Couleur recorded their new album adopting a completely different approach.

9.- PENN AVE/ COLORS
The indie collective Penn Ave makes ambient, alternative, indie rock inspired music. Formed in Minnesota in 2020, the band's first single "Oh Ramona", which is a folk inspired track, gained traction for them and marked the beginning of their entrance into the music industry.

Poetry Tag Game
thank you @adamantseal and @scourge-of-the-eighth-sea for tagging me in this game.
When did you start to write poetry?
I was young. It’s a little hazy now, but I’m sure I was around 9 or 10 years old. I know that by the time I was in high school it had a firm grip on me. After my daughter was born (my first child) I put it down for a good 10 years. I let it all lay fallow. I found tumblr. It reminded me that I had a garden to tend. The rest, as they say, is history.
Do you write poetic prose, free verse or use set forms?
I prefer free verse though I’ve dabbled in pretty much all the forms. I like using the cut-up method a lot as it reveals images and connections that are always surprise and inspire me! In the end, I let the poem guide me as to form.
Name 3 main themes you explore in your poetry:
Relationships, time, unspoken communication
Name 3 things that inspire you:
The Texas sky, trees, woodworking
Name 3 elements of nature most often mentioned in your poetry:
Stars, the sea, the sky
Name 3 words you love:
Combustion, soliloquy, crepuscular
Name 3 words you hate:
Nice, trousers, shouldn’t
Do you have a preferred time of day for writing?
(question from @september-stardust)
Over the years I’ve realized my writing times are cyclical. There are phases where I am more attuned to hearing and making connections between words in the morning, other phases where I’m more attuned at night. I’ve stopped trying to be very rigid about specific time and instead holding myself accountable to being open and responsive to the natural flow.
Do you ever run out of words to write?
(question from @lexiklecksi)
All the time.
Does your writing ever make you feel vulnerable, if so why?
(question from @asorcererpoet)
Like a naked mole rat. But so do my kids, and my wife, and my work, and good friends, and prayer-- anything or anyone that puts you in a situation where you need to go beyond your ego and all the things you think you know, and settle into uncertainty, as Keats said, without any irritable reaching for answers (or something like that); or to silently and in total awareness acknowledge the presence of an other. I think Martin Buber called that the I and thou relationship.
What is your process for self-editing?
(question from @adamantseal)
Three phases: 1st phase, vomit it all out onto the paper, everything (even if it’s cut-up. Everything stays). 2nd phase: make connections between words and phrases and things and ideas, pair and chisel away anything that takes away from those connections, 3rd phase: read aloud, snip around the edges, trust it to go out and find its way in the world. If I can’t get the poem right after these three attempts, I put it away and let it be.
Add one question of your own to this list:
Do you have a poem that’s eluded you? That, no matter how hard you try, you just can’t write?
Do you have any other social media where you showcase your poetry?
Nope. I have a love/hate relationship with social media. I’m just now surfacing from the hate back into cautious love. Tumblr is about all I could manage.
Come up with a prompt and tag a Tumblr poet who you want to inspire:
Your love is everything or just an atmospheric discharge
@madeofsaltwater
Tag 3 Tumblr poets who you want to get to know better:
@alexeaed, @uschi-the-listener, @en-la-casademiamor
