alex-moody-church:
It was the first weekend after classes, and Alex was determined to finally get to explore Hogsmeade village. His upper-class students were constantly talking about how much they enjoyed spending weekends there, and Alex was meant to be chaperoning his third years on a visit later in the year, so it was about time he saw it for himself.
So far, things were not going according to plan. Rather than enjoying the hustle and bustle of being surrounded by people, he’d been wracked by the sudden desire to return to the castle and the quiet confines of his room. If he was more self-aware, he would’ve realized this was his first time truly out among people since he’d gone missing. All of his time in the interum was spent in St. Mungo’s, in Alastor’s arms, or within Hogwarts castle.
But he didn’t. As a consequence he couldn’t help but give into it, drifting off in a haze of anxiety that had him bouncing his leg beneath the cafe table, staring absently out the window, oblivious to someone’s attempts to talk to him until there was a voice right next to his head.
He started so violently he knocked his tea off the table, but he couldn’t hear the tinkle of shattering glass over his suddenly heavy breathing. Wide-eyed, he glanced up.
“I- I’m sorry- you startled me- oh dear-”

Walden had spent enough time in the village by now to know its ins and outs. Any time he could spend here with Daisy he did. He’d even got the hang of how to avoid all the students (minus Ellary of course, he’d just got out of lunch with her).
Now he’d run into that baker. Malcolm’s little dungeon pal. He was the one that had given them Sylvanie’s name, and the location of Black’s flat. Part of Walden had been glad that Lupin wasn’t there at the time. It meant that Zephyr had less to complain about, which meant Daisy worried less about him.
Malcolm would be glad to know that he still had Alastor Moody’s husband shaken. He’d have to pass that information along that would definitely make Mal’s day.
Walden caught the cup before it shattered, but only barely. “You seem a bit out of sorts today, Professor.”
