Enchanté ep 9 - immediate thoughts

Akk and Theo are so soft. They're just soft, soft boyfriends. It's awkward between them but that's understandable because it's such new territory for them.

I love Akk's happiness in the morning, knowing he's going to see his BOYFRIEND that day. Oh and the shower scene - what a way to subvert the angsty shower trope! And we got Im and Egg! It wasn't enough but we got them 👏🏼

And the colours! Akk wearing Theo's blue and Theo wearing the rose's red after Akk gave Theo the rose. Basically, boyfriend claiming!

And we got a "Thirak" and a "Ma ni di"!! Oh how I squealed at "Ma ni di!"

(@actually-yikes - the subs translated "Thirak" to "darling" and I immediately thought of you 🥰)

Honestly, at this point I don't care for Phupha or Natee...but it's sad that Phupha still feels a responsibility towards his mother. She's a terrible person and he should just run far, far away (maybe that's not realistic but poor guy). And I thought it was a weird apology to Theo...I'm a bit worried he's going to do something bad. And if we have to see more of Natee, I hope it's because he and Tan get together. Not that I care about him but I want Tan to be happy!

So I was sort of right about Akk's insecurities being part of the conflict between them. He needs to be able to just tell Theo what's bothering him... Akk and Theo are so damn cute together - he really shouldn't care what other people think! He should just bask in the love he's getting from Theo and fu*k the rest of them. They can think what they like.

But...oh my god...THE PLOT TWIST!! I did not see this coming...and I really should have because it was set up so well 😂 I mean, it was mentioned a couple of times how Theo was in awe of his parents' love...I should have realised this was a huge red flag. And of course this is going to make Theo spiral into negativity and threaten his happiness with Akk...

What a great shot...so poignant, so ironic...

Anyway, now I realise that this series, at its heart, is about lies and honesty... and how, even though the truth is scary or can hurt, its better to open up and be honest rather than get hurt (or hurt someone else) from lying or withholding. 🤯

And I have to say, this conflict is SO GOOD! Poor Akk wanted to protect Theo, but Theo is fed up of the lies...and rightly so...but also, he's been withholding the truth himself...so it's a bit hypocritical. But Theo is hurting, he's losing even more of his family now, and he's just downed how many beers?... He's not thinking rationally, his emotions are bubbling over, and it's his helplessness that is fuelling his words and anger towards Akk.

But I don't see this as a break-up. I think the preview is indicating this too. Theo needs to sober up and he'll talk to Sun and calm down and then Akk and Theo will apologise to each other (the scene when Theo is sick?).

But, I'm calling it - I don't think this is a proper penultimate episode break-up. It's not. It's just a heated conversation whilst drunk and I think they'll resolve things pretty easily. I certainly don't feel like there's a huge rift between them. Even with Akk witnessing the hug between Theo and Sun...

Speaking of Sun. OH HOW I SQUEALED!!! WHEN I SAW JIMMY!! I screamed! Yes, it's been too long, Jimmy 🥰

Next week looks so soft again and I can't wait 👏🏼
