     the gentle press of her lips were flushed against the warmth of his cheek ; a shiver shot through his nerves and his hand reacts upon instinct and visibly twitches with the warmth of her touch. it went without saying that jhin was not too fond of such touches, touches that expressed such soft and lighthearted meanings. it was not really something to truly address, but closed eyes slowly open to view his arms that remained crossed over his chest. had he dozed off ? for a moment he had been reading as he sat against a tree, where could… ah, there it is, an old book he had kept close for quite some time remained at his side. unharmed and safe, though, the presence of another was immediately known and crimson eyes gaze off to the side of him.

     there she was, a vulpine woman, her long, wind tousled hair flows over her shoulders in voluminous waves of black silk ——– he silently then turns his gaze up to meet sharp hues staring back at him, the subtle soft smile that is traced upon her features are graced with a simple blink before he lifts his head and turns it to fully face the vastayan. a velvet accent then leaves his lips as he speaks.

Oh Vulpine She...

Its heavily implied Ahri is an important figure in Shinji’s backstory for that verse despite never meeting.  Should they actually meet, he (like everyone else) would be as susceptible to her alluring and tempting aura.  So this here is a little thing thrown together about that and also the fact that he can’t help but shake the familiar feeling she brings.

Genre: Angst, please read the note!!

Note: So this one ended up a bit darker (no pun intended) than some of my other fics. If you’re not ready for a slightly darker take on people with special powers, I would skip this one. Baekhyun is... intense. It’s just a darker piece than I would usually write on this blog, so I want to let everyone know before they read >< As I got a request for superheroes twice, Baekhyun plays a different role in this one than he did in the first one I wrote. I hope it’s okay though for those that do read it. As always, do feel free to let me know what you think!

"Do you remember how you got here?" the voice whispered in your ear as your consciousness stirred. Your eyes fluttered open on instinct, but you couldn't see a thing. It was pitch black, void of all light. Your mind felt heavy and clouded, but you tried to remain calm.

"Why don't you give me a reminder?" you asked the voice. Yet, when the individual chuckled, your eyes widened in the darkness. That voice, you knew it well. There was no mistaking it, and as if a floodgate had been opened, everything came rushing back. All of it.

Your task force was following up on a lead about one of your rogue operatives. Yet to you, he was more than a rogue agent; he was also your ex-fiance. Until Baekhyun disappeared four months ago, taking half of your elite unit with him, the two of you were happy, to be married. However, as time passed, you had seen him change. He grew angry, upset with how humans like you, those with special powers, were being treated by the general public. He didn't want to do their bidding anymore. He wanted to be his own judge, and like that, he disappeared. It would have been fine if he decided to stay hidden, but that wasn't what he did. Instead, he wreaked havoc, under the guise of your task force, harming innocents. Civilians already had a hard time trusting humans with special abilities, and now, with what was going on with your group, had a harder time believing your team overall.

Unsurprisingly, when one of your operatives brought back word of Baekhyun's hideout, you were the first to advocate taking action. The higher-ups had been skeptical, not wanting to lose any more soldiers. However, knowing your record and how personal this was for you, they let it go forward. With a small unit, you headed out, set on ending things.

But you were ambushed when you arrived.

Everything happened quickly. You remembered soldiers screaming, "I don't see anything" as they were taken down, one by one. You were outnumbered, and likely someone got the upper hand and knocked you out. Now you were in their lair, likely with any other operative that survived. If any were alive.

"You know where you are now, don't you," came the familiar voice. You couldn't see Baekhyun, but you could feel him. He was close, and his voice sent a chill down your spine. Baekhyun’s voice used to be something that you would miss, but now, now it just upset you.

Knowing that you needed to break free, you tried to discreetly feel around, to get a sense of your surroundings. You were definitely standing, strapped to some sort of metal slab, arms to your side. If you could cause enough of an electrical charge, you should be able to break out of both your confines and this darkness. But you heard that chuckle again, and it pierced through you, pulling you away from your escape plan.

"I know what you're thinking, and you should stop. If you let out one of those electrical charges, you’ll only hurt yourself. I made sure to proof this place just for you. Glad my messenger did their job so well.”

Messenger? "Wait, Ahri was working for you this entire time?" you yelled, hearing another dark chuckle roll from his lips. You were sick and tired of hearing it. "Did you threaten her family? She would never do this otherwise!"

"Beautiful, you know as I do that everyone has a price. For Ahri, it wasn't family. It was the large sum of money that I deposited into her account. Even that was too tempting for her to remain loyal to you. I know it makes you mad that someone you trusted so dearly would let you down," Baekhyun told you, hand gently trying to angle your face towards him. Yet, you pulled away, and he let out a huff. “Still don’t forgive me, I see.”

"You ruined everything Baekhyun. Just let me go..." you muttered, eyes closing, the level of darkness around you never changing.

"If I let you go, my plans would be ruined. This was always about bringing you back to me. And now that I have you and the rest of the specials, the humans are powerless. We will rule it all. Don’t you want to be there with me when I do?” he insisted, coming towards you again. You could feel Baekhyun’s lips against your cheek, and you tried to pull away again.

“People will hate us…”

"They always have. This changes nothing.  We were a doomed group of individuals from the beginning. They would never accept us.”

You sighed gently. You knew Baekhyun had harbored these feelings for a long time. After the life he lived as a child though, you weren’t surprised. It just... hurt to see what he had become. “Baek, just let me go back. I’ll leave you and the others alone. I just want to go back to helping people…”

There was silence for a moment before you felt his lips near your ear again. “Sweetie, even if you go back, you won’t be helping anyone…”

“W-what do you mean?”

“Don’t you think it’s strange how dark it is for you? I know your eyes have been darting around, but you can't see a thing, can you?”

You felt a sinking feeling in your stomach at those words. No, he didn't. He didn't - "Baek, what did you do?!"

"I had to make sure that you couldn't stop me... and that you would stay by my side forever. Love, you know I have the power of light. Yet, you forget that I can also take it away too," he told you gently, his whispers causing you to start tearing up. "You'll never leave me again... so please get used to your world of darkness..."
