hi! I have an antilope question. a lot of species have 'bok' somewhere in their name - do you know why that is?

Bok basically means antelope/goat/buck in Afrikaans (and male goat/buck in Dutch). I've also sometimes seen e.g. springbok written as springbuck or gemsbok as gemsbuck.

(In my inexpert opinion, it also makes more sense to refer to male antelopes as bucks rather than bulls as it's commonly done in English, but that's neither here nor there...)
