i don't really like ezra bridger 90% of the time, but something i love about him is that he continuously trusts shady older men (namely hondo and maul) even after they keep betraying him. attachment issues innit.
#i know it's probably supposed to show how innocent and nice he is that he gives them all the benefit of the doubt#but it has sad undertones considering that he literally didn't have basically any positive parental role models#growing up :'')#*insane person voice* i don't kin him but i do kin this attachment issues behavior he displays.#star wars#rebels#it's frustrating sometimes when it's hondo despite how much i often like hondo (mainly in cw) bc he just keeps showing up and taking#advantage of ezra and i've literally been there :(

Here's the thing is neo yokio s1 had the perfect ending (cyclical, no matter what happens the rich will literally not experience real change unless they want to- and they don't, etc) and pink christmas also had the perfect ending (something something capitalism colonialism the damage done can never be repaired without revolution/violence/whatever i don't know i'm bad at wording things) and I dont think season 2 could have a third perfect ending so it would objectively be a little worse. but I still want it though.
I'm assuming this is for the post asking for asks but if this is referencing something else let me know. Either way, thanks for the ask.
I totally agree. The writing of this show is fantastic, and you summarized why the endings are so good pretty succinctly.
One thing I'll say about the potential ending of season 2 is -
I think season 1 and definitely Pink Christmas were written with a second season in mind, already planned out. They're both setting up a lot. And if that's the case, that'd give it an advantage in quality control since it's all the same specific vision at the same time. You get what I'm trying to say?
My conspiracy theory is that the plan from the beginning was two seasons (at least). This could've been the hope, or maybe it was actually promised by Netflix and everyone else in charge. So season one happened, and because of the poor reception, it was kind of in the air as to whether or not NY would actually get another season.
Pink Christmas was a sort of compromise or condition or something like that - Pink Christmas would determine whether or not S2 would follow through. Pink Christmas almost has the vibe of like a trailer or proof of concept or something to me. Things like ambiguity of whether or not any of it's canon bc of the story in a story, or reveals about magistocrats and demons, introducing a lot of new mysteries and worldbuilding concepts that can be expanded on later, etc, etc. You know?
And if my conspiracy theory is correct, then we just wait for confirmation. Because I have yet to find Ezra explicitly say "you poor bitch we're never another season find a new personality that isn't Neo Yokio I'm not even putting Friend Like U on Spotify"
Which means it could the reason he hasn't said that is because it's not true and we are getting S2.
It's been a second since I've read every single interview about Neo Yokio (there's not a lot), but I think the closest we've got to explicit confirmation was the "Neo's not dead" quote.
And that quote is evidence for conspiracy theory. I mean maybe he was saying like he was being coy but it could also be read as actually not knowing the answer to whether or not there's gonna be a S2.
All that to say, I think probably S2 was written, though admittedly not completely, alongside S1 and Pink Christmas, which would probably help in giving a stronger ending.
Sorry for the long answer, I kinda rambled. I'm going a little crazy from staying up so late, but it's around this time when I usually analyze Neo Yokio, so I'm fine.
Got a little sidetracked with the theorizing, but hopefully it helped get my point a cross. Feel free to ask for clarification or any other Neo Yokio thoughts.
(@kinomash sorry i took a bit to respond as you can see i wanted to think about it i hope this was coherent)
