my boss told me in the 1on1 yesterday "you're clearly very smart. you could be beating everyone in metrics if you wanted. even if this job is temporary for you, it might be fulfilling to try." and she's not wrong and it makes me feel weird. i think i've always been the same animal but now i've finally figured out how to take care of myself, and yeah, i probably could do well at my stupid little tasks and enjoy them and still have energy left over for more fulfilling things.

it's not a "you're sooooo mature for your age, why can't you stop being so depressed and actually apply yourself?" anymore, it's a, "you're bored. it's silly, but here's a hamster wheel. wanna see what happens?"
