There weren’t all that many people in Half Moon Bay who really knew Javi all that well. He intentionally kept to himself, spending his time alone was easier than it was to let people in and risk hurting them. That was the problem with Javier, he was never concerned about getting hurt himself, only that those around him would suffer because they usually did. Bad luck followed him like a dark cloud that couldn’t be escaped. He hated it but it was the truth. Adriana was one of those people who had been caught in the crossfire of his life. He couldn’t avoid her forever, Half Moon Bay wasn’t that big of a town, but he’d tried his damndest to stay out of her way ever since he came home two years ago from prison. Today it seemed that luck had run out.

Watching her trying to unload some extremely heavy looking boxes into a store front of a spa he felt a tug to over and offer some support. “Need a hand, Adri?” He hoped he wasn’t overstepping with that little nickname he used to call her by. It was so fucking confusing trying to figure out where the lines were drawn in the sand these days with people from his past. He walked over and took one of the boxes from her, glancing up at the name on the store front. “Little Dipper…that’s cute.”

Hunter sat outside a little restaurant in strawflower village scrolling through tinder and wondering what the hell he was doing with the rest of his day. He'd worked the early shift that day at the shop and now that he'd been home and showered off the grease from the car he'd been working on, he needed a little bit of entertainment. "Well ain't you a breath of fresh air." He gave a half smirk as he saw Adriana walking by him and met her eyes. "What you got planned for your day darlin'? He drawled and sat up a little straighter, putting his phone in his back pocket and leaning forward to get a better look at the woman.

sketchpad in hand, violet sat in silence admiring one of her favorite places in town as she awaited for inspiration to strike her. it was her first day off after one of the most strenuous weeks rehearsing she had ever done and, tried as she might to stay home and unwind— her need to create and observe the world was simply stronger than her exhaustion. alas, she found herself at the botanical garden with an impromptu picnic basket she had thrown together before leaving her home. she spent the first hour deciding where she'd spend her time but once she found a decent spot, frustration really began to set in. her hands, previously itching to create, suddenly laid motionless on her thighs, making her nervous.

to try and ease herself, violet turned to the nearest person she could find, granting her a amicable smile. "best views in all of new york. i come all the way to park slope at least once a month just to sit here and let it all in, you know?" her left hand twitched, causing her to place it under her leg. "do you come here often?"

tony doesn't think he's ever been inside chris and adriana's apartment outside of christopher's intervention. it's bigger, without the gaggle of people present that day, but still cramped quarters. tony soprano doesn't go over anyone's house - they come to his domain. but he's breaking the rules today, apparently adriana's gone somewhere, out with friends or something - just the two of them. whatever college football game is on is blasted on the television when christopher opens the door.

when tony steps inside, he holds up the bottle in his hand - a non-alcoholic bottle of rum.

"saw this shit and thought of you - never seen anything like it before," is his excuse for showing up tonight. what he won't say is that he'd gone out of his way to find it for him. in his other hand is a bag with chinese food - it's been a long time since they've eaten together, and yet tony remembers christopher's order from when he was still a kid laid out on johnny boy soprano's living room floor.

"carm's still exiling me from the house so i thought i'd stop by, see if you're busy."

It was difficult but Cash was trying his best not to swarm and smother Leyla. They'd only had the one interaction thus far and it was laden with emotion, but the prospect of his daughter running around this festival enjoying rides and games and horrible carnival food had the singer-songwriter completely distracted.

Every scream in the tone of a little girl turned his head. Every giggle. Every holler for mommy. Even if grossly undeserved— every call for daddy.

At 6'3'' and one of the main performers for the festival making his way around all the festival had to offer hadn't exactly been easy. Cash had ben stopped frequently for autographs and pictures, but every once in a while he got a spot of time alone.

That was when he bumped into someone, head turned suddenly at the cry of a girl in the near distance and he'd been yet again distracted. It was just trash he'd been walking over to the bin, and Cash had crouched to gather it all back up.

"It's all good. That's what I get for not looking ahead," he chuckled. "I'm fine. You?"

Adriana felt the soft summer breeze in her hair and had to put her hand on top of her hat to keep it from flying away as she leaned against the railing and looked out at the festival on the beach. The first day was coming to an end and so far, it had been a pretty good day. But the festival was only starting to ramp up and it would only get better and better until the final show. She didn't know if she could make it out for the rest of the time but she was sure going to try, especially because her niece and nephew were adamant that they spend a day with their Auntie Addie riding rides. But today was just for her.

She felt someone bump into her and then a crash of objects. She turned and saw the array of items and the person bending down to pick them up. "Oh, here, let me help you," she offered, kneeling down to help pick up the items. "I hate when that happens," she offered, hoping to help ease any embarrassment that they may or may not have had from the spill, "are you okay?"

he pulled onto pollux's collar every so slightly, a warning, as they both observe a squirrel pass nearby. in response, the borador pulled back with what could only be read as annoyance before huffing back at his owner, trained eyes glued to the squirrel pricing through the park, almost taunting. "pol, no. this never ends well. remember last time? i had to give you a whole bath even though you had just gotten back from the grooming service. please be a good boy" he plead. alas, it proved to be too late as just as he was finishing his sentence, the borador gave a final tug to his leash, making the writer lose control of the grip and letting the dog free to chase the squirrel that now seemed to be running for her life. "shit. pollux, no!" he called out as he began running after his dog for a few seconds, until the ever loving dog got distracted with something or rather someone else. alexander walked up to his dog, a serious and apologetic look on his face. "i'm so sorry— he beat me to it, there was nothing i could do. are you alright? pol, be nice" he plead once more as he kneeled over to collect the dog's leash.

Gwendolyn observed Adriana and within seconds she rolled her eyes in response to what she'd done and said. "You're impossible." she muttered before taking another long sip from her glass. There was no use in winning against the other woman, even when Gwen tried, she'd somehow get her way. "How...cute." Her tone was flat before her lips curled into a sardonic smile, "Exactly, at least one of us is thriving."

Gwendolyn lost all that passion she had for her career and any ounce of motivation she last had, was now being invested into her current role. The question asked did cause the Chief of Police to take a step back and think hard on a response. It was a heavy loaded question, especially when the woman she was before had evolved and lost parts of herself. "I do." she admitted out loud before taking in one last sip and setting her glass down. "But then I would be living a lie. And yourself?"

silently ,  adriana  takes  the  card  from gwendolyn's possession and  without  thinking  twice she slips  the  debit  card  between  the  tight  fitting  of  her  work  dress  and  left  breast ,  all  while  staring  at  gwendolyn  with  a  challenging  stare.  " you'll  see  a  charge  if  i  want  you  to.  you'll  get  this  before  you  leave  and  all  of  the  machines  are  booted  down. " after  everything  they  had  been  through ,  and  everything  they  had  done  together  , there  was  no  way  adriana  was  going  to  allow  gwen  to  pay  for  anything  while  under  her  establishment.  and anyway , one drinking going unpaid for wasn't going to hurt adriana in any way or form. she understands that it can very well all be a respect thing or something more simple like keeping up nicieties when it came to gwen. therefore , the respect was no such currency here. simply a long lived bond of trauma , revenge , and looking out for one another when no one else would have them. they  were  in  debt  to  each  other  and  not  that  a  free  drink  will  constitute  for  any  sort  of  payback ,  but  it's  always  been  more  of  a  thank  you.  " sapphire  is  me  making  time  for  myself.  this  place  gives  me  a  purpose ,  gwen.  i  love  everything  i  do  here.  i  love  my  staff , i love what this place represents. my work in an extension of me , therefore , i never tire. "  accent  thickening  as  the  wine  trickles  down  her  throat. " mmm. sounds boring , if you ask me. " adria smiles mischievously after repeating gwen's words back to her. " — do you ever wish we could go back ? to what we were doing before this ? "

Most people in Half Moon Bay looked at Hunter like he didn't belong, because in truth, he didn't. He was different than most of the folks who lived here and it was because of where he came from, how he was raised, what he was taught growing up. He was a troublemaker, he was messy, he was reckless, but he loved his life here and whether everyone loved him being there or not didn't make a lick of difference to him. People like Adriana reminded him that not everybody was stuck up and too good for him. "I'm just bein' honest." He smiled and shook his head at her question. "Ain't nothin' new with me. I'm always just workin' at the shop and then lookin' for a good time. Though I heard the other day that someone's startin' up a robot fight club so I might have a new hobby comin' up here." People around town were always filling Hunter's head with crazy rumors that were never true, not that he ever figured that out.

Adriana felt a strange sort of ease around Hunter, maybe it was because she felt like she knew him since forever, even if that wasn't entirely true. It was more like she knew him since her move to Half Moon Bay but that honestly felt like forever to her sometimes. "Awww aren't you a charmer Hunter? Always know how to make a girl swoon," she giggled softly before shrugging, "I mean there are probably a lot of things you could wish for, but you're inflating my ego and I'm liking it--thank you." Adriana glanced in his direction again and raised a brow, "so--what's been new with you Hunter? I feel like I haven't seen you in awhile.."
