it is so funny to me though that jack, definitive rebel in every aspect of his personality, went through his slightly later than teenage rebellion by becoming straight-laced and joining the merchant service

For the sentence ask
“You took him and warped him to a monster of your own design”
“You took him and warped him into a monster of your own design.”
“Warped him? That’s rather kind of you but it diminishes all the fucking shit I had to go through, so I can’t say its proper accurate.”
Maria could tell something was off the second Ladybug had walked into her apartment unannounced. He’d said earlier in the day that he was going for a walk, something Barry recommended he do to clear his mind. Maria was two minutes from hunting him down when he finally made it back, deep into the night.
He was wearing a bomber jacket that looked like it could’ve belonged to Carver zipped up halfway, underneath was a polo shirt Maria hadn’t seen in years.
She didn’t know what tipped her off, there was just something with the way he scrunched his nose and adjusted his wrist as if he was wearing a watch. How he rolled his arm like he was straightening out the cuff of a suit, not a jacket. How he almost looked surprised when Maria had opened the door.
Even his hair was different. Slicked back with gel as opposed to its usual shaggy look. His beard and mustache were trimmed in a way that was too familiar.
Tangerine.
Maria had pinned him to the wall, her hands shook as she gripped the collar of Ladybug’s jacket, her nails no doubt leaving marks on her palms even through the thick fabric.
“Now hold on Beetle. The second that bullet gets put through my skull the only thing you’ll be doing is bringing Ladybug to the astral plane where I can kick his fucking ass.”
“What did you do.” She hissed.
“Frankly, I didn't do jack shit. It was all this bastard’s doing.” Tangerine jabbed at the chest of the body he was possessing.
“He was poking around the train and next thing I knew I was here. So, not my fault.”
“You’re dead.” Maria said stupidly, admittedly losing her composure. Reanimated assassins wasn't something she dealt with on a daily basis. She released Tangerine, seeing as he brushed off dust from Ladybug’s jacket.
“Yeah, still am. But now!” Tangerine gestured to Ladybug’s body. “I've got a way to change that.”
“What’s stopping me from throwing you in jail?”
“The same thing stopping me from throwing this body off the nearest bloody building.” Maria snorted. Hearing Tangerine’s British word choice with Ladybug’s voice would be a lot more amusing on any other day.
“So what I was thinking.” Maria’s eyes followed Tangerine as he began to pace. “Is that I stick around, and just keep doing what I’ve been doing. I’ll even let you have him on the weekends.” Tangerine laughed.
No matter how much she wanted to do something, she found herself helpless, Ladybug’s life resting on her ability to keep Tangerine happy for the time being. Until she could find a way to damn his spirit back to whatever Hell he should’ve never been able to leave.
“That sounds good don’t it? Lemon and I will even join your agency so you can keep an eye on your little Ladybird.”
“Fine. I’ll send you the information.” Tangerine smirked and stuck his hand out, Maria stiffly reciprocated the handshake. She took it as a little victory when Tangerine rubbed at his hand when they separated.
“Pleasure doing business with you Miss…” Tangerine trailed off, looking expectantly with eyes that were looking less familiar by the second.
“I’m sorry love, what was your name again?”
“Maria.” She seethed.
“Maria. Do me a favor and call my brother will you? You seem the type to have his number laying around.”
Tangerine stepped to the door, Maria wanted to stop him, but thought against it. Before he left, he looked back with a grin that stretched Ladybug’s face unnaturally.
“Tell him Tangerines are back in season.”
