He pushed it down, took her hands, and she knew from the earnestness burning in his brown eyes that his love for her outweighed any hurt that he may be feeling. “I won’t hurt a hair on his head,” Adam said. “I promise you, Lilith, I’ll never hurt anyone you love, including that scaly fuck. Besides.” He grinned, smug in the specific way that he got when he was trying to bury something uncomfortable. “I’m hunting man-eating monsters, not random fish. Last I checked, your boy-toy isn’t a siren.” - Or; Lilith reckons with her past while trying to protect her present.
