I have a slightly different perspective on OTB, I think? I agree generally that what Louis wants with regard to bringing pride flags, etc, isn't very clear. But at the same time, while it's kind of died down by now, when Bigger Than Me was first released it seemed like a lot of fandom saw that as a sort of successor song to OTB, and particularly about the kind of shared queer experience of all those flags at Louis' concerts. That's obviously just a fan interpretation that not all fans share and there are plenty of alternate reads, but the same could be said for OTB. So, I guess I just don't think taking OTB off the setlist would be much of a signal either way, since BTM could be filling that role. (At the same time, I do think keeping OTB on the setlist would actually make me inclined to believe he really wants to keep up that pride flag energy at shows.)
Good point about "Bigger Than Me." Because that was kind of how I interpreted the song and Louis' comments about it, too. I'll be curious to see what happens. Of course, there are lots of very practical reasons why Louis might take "Only the Brave" off the setlist. He's touring a new album and will understandably want to prioritize those songs, maybe "Only the Brave" doesn't fit the sound of this tour, etc. We'll see. I agree that it might be even more telling if he continues singing it.

🩷 Thought dump 🩷
Holy shit, I just started reading Only the Brave by Solmussa and I'm so excited!!!! I read You Signed Up For This earlier this summer, like maybe two months ago? And I had no idea that it was by the same author! I've heard OTB's title before, like mentioned in lists of the best/it marauders fics, but I hadn't actually heard much about it? Like I knew it was dark, sad, and dramatic, but I didn't realize that it's set in canon... like not really bc everyone lives and the plot points are different... but like, the death eaters, war, hogwarts, it's all based in canon material!
I've just stopped reading All the Young Dudes (for now, I'll explain). I got through 151 out of 188 chapters before I just couldn't do it anymore :( It was getting too depressing... Life in general has been pretty depressing this summer, and reading is my escape from all of that. I had so much fun with ATYD until they finished at Hogwarts. Well, it had kind of been creeping in through their 6th and 7th years too, to be honest. ATYD is beautifully, and more importantly, realistically written. Literally cannot praise MsKingBean89 enough bc wow. But, the war is just depressing, not exciting. There're no action packed fight scenes, no one having illicit love affairs, it's just... real. Reading ATYD was making me more depressed tbh. The sense of unease, that sinking feeling of dread... it wasn't really an escape for me anymore. I'd really like to go back to it one day, though! I'm super invested in the story and the characters within the context of the narrative, and I know tragedy is coming but it's worth it for the story, right? It will be, but not right now! I'm moving on to something with a bit more life :))
I'm excited for OTB because it's got Hogwarts, the war, etc., but also everyone's getting down w each other and the relationships are written as dramatically as in Crimson Rivers. Or at least I assume that's what it'll be like... As I said, I read YSUFT a couple months ago and loved it. It was infused with crack I stg. It was super light hearted for the most part, but it still had this larger than (real) life soap drama feel? If that makes sense??? So, a story that's super dramatic with life or death consequences and real danger? Oh, this is gonna be so good.
Also, one of the biggest selling points for me, Regulus is the main character!!! He's so me. Even though we're totally nothing alike, but no, no, we're the same person actually. Regulus is my favourite character, not just out of marauders era characters, but for the past four months he's been my favourite ever. I love him. I love him. And I really loved the way that Solmussa wrote him in YSUFT. I think this is part of the reason I'm moving on from ATYD, bc Regulus is for the most part not in it at all :(. And I totally get that! ATYD stays (mostly) really close to the original canon lore outlined in the Harry Potter books, and in that, Regulus is a magical nazi. Like, he sucks fr. It's still great and mildly redeeming that he sacrifices himself to destroy a horcrux, but I'm not going to pretend that he didn't subscribe to the death eater's values for the majority of his life. I don't believe for a second that he actually hated being a Black and a death eater for his entire life. Like yes, tons, heaps of trauma, and he didn't have a way out like Sirius did with James, but I don't think that changes the fact that in canon Regulus wasn't a good person. Not evil, either, but I acknowledge his wrongdoings. Fanon Regulus on the other hand... our souls are one and the same, argue with the wall. So, I'm moving onto a story that's still kinda set in the canon environment, but with Regulus as the mc and lots of dramatics.
I'm so excited lol

alright currently on the train writing this through my tears but oh my god gina it was honestly surreal
i was near the back and there were loads of tall people (my 5ft1 ass could NEVER) so i couldn't see super well but istg i didn't even need to
the energy, the sound, the people all around us, i was just completely enveloped into this atmosphere of just... love, and acceptance, and understanding. not to be a larrie but it just felt like coming home. there were a few moments were i just closed my eyes and just focused on like feeling everyone, all the happiness, the music, i just let myself enjoy it with something other than my eyes and it was absolutely magical.
JHO was pretty special to me too, cause it's the song that quite literally saved me, stopped me multiple times from just ending it when things got tough, and hearing him sing just felt like it was all worth it and that i could do anything. he makes me feel invincible.
everyone screamed all three "LARRY"s during 7, the princess park line legitimately shook the entire venue and everyone around me screamed it at the top of their lungs, the U R OUR BECAUSE project went down perfectly and he looked so happy seeing us hold the signs, the amount of rainbows and rainbow lights during OTB just made me bawl it was so good, and THE LIGHTS DURING TWO YOUNG. the videos do not do it justice, he looks like an actual angel standing in front of the doors of heaven singing us in, it was something of a religious experience tbh.
now onto my het hours cause we need those sometimes.
the 7 high note and SECond to MAself absolutely killed me omg he's so hot it's like sorry h but PLEASE RAIL ME. matt? sir you are so fucking fine just say the word and i'm on my knees. michael? i don't know whether i should tell you to keep doing your riffs or to stop cause but either way if you need a dog i can bark. isaac? ✨isaac✨ i have no words. steve? we need more big screen videos of steve smiling along while he plays the drums and looking surprised every time we sing. tommy from otp? sir, may have your hand in marriage please? your vibes are absolutely immaculate
speaking of otp, they were so good!! they really know how to warm up a crowd, there was also a project for every song i ever wrote (which was honestly amazing) and i just had so much fun. we were jumping around all the time, singing, dancing, yelling, then crying a little at ceasefire but oh well, it's still amazing
now for the little things i noticed cause my anxiety made me hyperaware of everything so i tried to direct that to the stage, lights, and louis, instead of the people around me.
otp had very clear blue and green lights for about half of the second song, to the point where i was cautiously suspicious cause it didn't seem to fit the vibe of their poster. then whenever the lights went down to announce a new song there were lights in the back that i think flashed blue and green, but it could also have just been a sort of turquoise almost, not completely sure due to the distance so take with a grain of salt. he was also very happy when we screamed the princess park line so keep it up!!
paramedics came through the crowd a good couple times, and we had to stop the show once when he started fearless for the first time cause someone passed out (which, like, i feel bad for this, but het hours part 2 when he said "stop the show" and everyone legitimately stopped everything...i get why he's the dom, i get it) but we got back pretty soon
i met some awesome people, they were just so nice!! and everyone was pretty kind, signaled immediately when someone went down, and were pretty diligent about passing around water and making sure people around, strangers or not, were alright. so i'm pretty proud of us for that ngl.
i also got louis grey and green world tour hoodie cause it looked extremely comfortable and i figured yk why not, this might be the only time i get to go, you never know what's gonna happen, so might as well get something to make me happy (it did, it made me very happy, it's extremely warm and comfortable even if it was 70 fucking francs. worth it.) the cool thing (and by cool i mean panic) was that while standing in front of the barriers in front of the merch store, and pretty girl got all up on my back like pressed against me all proper and just went "sorry, hope i'm not bothering you, there's just loads of people trying to push me"
sweetheart you can push into me any day any time oh my god that felt like the start of my fanfic love story
(it wasn't, i just said "don't worry, you can stay as close as you want", enjoyed ten minutes of uninterrupted cuddle time with you i've now dubbed The Gay That Got Away, and then regretfully left cause i was late to catch the next train)
so all in all, it was an amazing experience that i hope everyone gets the chance to enjoy at least once in their life, i made a ton of friends, managed not to have an anxiety attack (at least so far, but i'm feeling pretty good about everything) and i no longer have a voice, pretty much constant bi panic throughout everything but i'm not even mad about it. it was awesome. 10/10 would do again
(also peep my larry red string of fate concert shirt cause it got a decent amount of attention and i'm very proud of it)
hahahha! This is lovely. Thank you so much for sharing you show with us! I love the t-shirt. Sounds like a great time.

what do u think "but i never cared for love" means 😌💖
I think it’s a lie
okay so imo all of OTB is not an angry song, it’s more like, here are a few last words before i’m done for real with this rant (the rant being Walls), and it also summarizes the second half of Walls really well. I don’t think it’s too short, it’s just the perfect length for a conclusion.
but now back to but i never cared for love, i really think it’s a lie. it’s the only lie in Walls but maybe it’s actually more honest and says more than the whole album combined
If you think about it he spends most of the album talking about love (both for his mom and for a significant other) and even before that all the 1d albums... and then mid-way through Walls he talks about how that love wasnt enough, how it was toxic etc. So maybe he's angry right? Or just disappointed... since the song right before that just asks To be loved by you, and it seems like he was not given that love... but he was literally begging for it!! so he cant change his mind that quick he cant go from i want to be loved, i desperately need to be loved to nevermind i never wanted love, so it's a lie, but i never cared for love is a lie like those we tell ourselves to feel better. Turns out the person he loved didnt care about him the same way he did, didn’t give as much, so it's like, in front of that antagonistic They who tell him ‘i told you so’, i told you your love would never last, he says, well whatever, but i didnt care for it anyway, I didn’t want that love, so it doesn’t matter if you told me so, because i’m not hurt. but it's all a lie because he does care a lot, the whole album is a break-up album about how he cared too much, so much that he was hurt.
also, the oppositions in the song are really striking, he goes from I'm crying like a fool to but I never cared for love. you can’t cry about something you never cared for! that but does not make sense at all in the sentence syntax (and if you look at the way that verse is structure, it is clear that those two statements are linked, one is a reply to another). So either he is lying about crying, or lying about not caring for love. but then, he adds a last statement, that’s also in opposition to but I never cared for love. He says, [Love] is a solo song, and it’s only for the brave which makes it’s clear that the lie is I never cared for love.
he cared too much, and that's why by the end of the song, a very short song meaning it doesnt take him that long to change his mind, he says no. Love does matter and i do care, but it's only for the brave, I've been hurt and I'm bleeding. and i’ve been left alone. but i did care a lot, and it hurt because I cared too much, and I thought I wasn’t alone on this, but I was
#aimee i LOVE you thanks for asking#as if i didn’t beg for someone to ask#sorry for the essay#i hope i didn't forget anything#i just have lots of thoughts about that line#walls#asks#nestalgic#icarusgf#but i never cared for love

Shadows of Las Vegas: Sin City in the Sixth World for Shadowrun
[This comes our way courtesy of professional decker turned professional gambler, Lotus. Born in Seattle, he now lives in Vegas, and he gives us his particular viewpoint on his new city. – Captain Chaos]
Shadows of Las Vegas
by Lotus
Get it? Get it?
Anyone who’s been to Vegas knows that it’s so bright, everywhere, that there are no shadows. The same goes for our Shadows -- for a city more or less openly run by the Mob (or rather, three Mobs, more on that later), there’s no reasons for criminals to hide. That tells you most of what you need to know about Vegas. The following saying tells you the rest:
“To call Las Vegas ‘Sin City’ is an insult. Not to the City, but to Sin.”
Yes, yes, there’s gambling. There’s gambling everywhere -- the kind you find in the bright lights of the Core is just the meatspace version of the countless Matrix sites. But in Vegas you can gamble on *anything*. Your smoky OTB down the street is nothing compared to the intestine-inverting stench of the underground troll on dwarf death-matches that happen at derelict warehouses in North Las Vegas.
Yes, yes, there’s prostitution, which is the fancy Anglo word for “whores”. It’s been legal here so long it’s blase -- but remember that Vegas gets regular visitors from all around the world, and everybody has a different itch that can be scratched for a price. Like blondes? Come on, too easy. Blonde teenage ork teens? A dozen geriatric troll men? A cockatrice? Anything for a price.
50 ¥, Grandpa. For 75 ¥, the wife can watch.
Which is the real reason people like you and me come to Vegas -- anything can be bought and sold for a price. The desert around Vegas is a prime stopover on smuggling routes between Los Angeles (and the rest of the California Free State) up through Ute to Denver, and from there to the rest of North America. Chips, drugs, guns, slaves, telesma -- you can always find something if you know the right people. Right now the commodity of choice? Water. The Ute’s a desert, folks.
A lot of people (who skipped history in high school) think Vegas is like Seattle or Denver -- an independent or UCAS enclave that was carved out after the Great Ghost Dance. It’s actually full-on Ute territory, it’s just that the Indians knew that Vegas was never going to change and didn’t even try to eject the Anglos and take over. So, the Ute security force keeps a wide perimeter around the city, and basically allows it to keep rotting from within. Poisoned land, some of their shamans say -- best to let the infection run its course, then come back later and rebuild on the scab.
The real reason is much simpler -- money.
Both legal and illegal business account for a majority of the Ute’s tax base. When you next buy your ticket to Vegas (or if you’re feeling adventurous, buying a permit to drive in), zoom in on the various extra fees that get slapped on it -- one of them will be for a temporary tourist visa that lets you stay in the country. Every time you slot your credstick to get another drink, sales tax makes its way back up to Provo, and odds are every roll of the loaded dice can put the last of your nuyen into the fur-lined pockets of the Comanche Mob.
Crime
So, let’s talk about crime.
There’s the Mob, the Triclops, the three “I”s -- the Italians (Verontesse family), the Irish (Wynne family) and the Indians (Comanche tribe) -- who are the biggest players: they control the Strip and every activity, legitimate or otherwise, contained within. They work hard to keep their cash cow bright, clean, and tourist friendly -- any settling of vendettas must be done *quietly* or risk bringing down the wrath of all families (an excellent source of shadow work, by the way). I know some of you runners try to avoid mob runs, to avoid the risk of getting caught under the thumb of the local capo, but in Vegas, it is impossible to avoid their influence. Any bit of shadow biz involves the Mob in some way, so you might as well calm down and accept it.
The Yakuza are a solid, yet distant, second place when it comes to organized crime in Vegas, despite their best efforts to drive a wedge between the mob families. Other than the large casinos, the yaks dabble in everything, and it’s not too hard to find a discrete agent working any given block of the Strip.
Beyond that, it’s a smorgasbord of everyone else: the Triads (Chinese), Seoulpa Rings (Korean), and every type of gang and low-life you can imagine. Which reminds me...
Corps
The smarmy side of me is complaining that, in covering criminals, I have yet to cover the megacorps in Vegas.
Har har har.
More true than usual in Vegas, though -- the largest corps in terms of gross earnings and personnel run the casinos: The Flamingo Casino Group (owned by the Verontesse Mafia), the Wynne Conglomerate (Wynne family) and the Wind Speaker Corporation (owned by the Comanche Mob). None of them are multi-national (and are thus unranked by the Corporate Court), but since they only operate in Ute (Vegas and Reno), they can throw down with any other megacorp in town.
The only big boys (AAA ranked) in town with an auspicious presence are Aztechnology and Renraku. The Azzies are rumored to own the Luxor pyramid casino (along with rumors of blood sacrifices on the roof) and have their Ute HQ downtown (unique among the megas, who if they are allowed to do business in Ute, have to stay in Provo). Renraku performs a critical function in Vegas -- they are the primary supplier of gambling machine hardware and software. Yes, the mob runs the casinos, but they must buy their machines from Renraku.
A summary of the rest of the Mega’s presence within Vegas:
Ares: Ford, Weapons World, Knight Errant (private security)
Fuchi: Virtual Meetings Inc. (telepresence), Fuchi Simsense Studios
Mitsuhama: Sakura Studios (simsense), Black Lotus (software)
Saeder-Krupp: BMW
Shiawase: Shiawase Atomics Southwest (nuclear power)
A summary of the rest of the worst, along with their ranking and primary area of business:
Buce Talent (unranked, entertainment) – who helps book of those acts? They do.
ESP Systems (A, simsense) – based in Chicago, solid presence in Vegas
Istus International (A, real estate) – an up and comer, recently constructed HQ in Vegas
Lone Star (AA, private security) – they’re not the “cops” though, more on that later
UNLV (unranked, education) – they incorporated back in the 20s as a for-profit university
The above is by no means complete – but if you’re hired for some local shadow biz, and it isn’t through the syndicates, it’s likely through one of them. If not, it’s likely through the…
Las Vegas City Government
Spend a day in Vegas and it’s easy to forget that you’re technically a temporary visitor to the Ute Nation – remember the Ute is basically defined by their anti-Anglo sentiment – but if you look closely at the logos on the Strip Panicbuttons, you’ll see the LVCG. Depending on your viewpoint, the LVCG is either the token gesture to Ute Nation membership or just another branch of the Comanche Mob. Either way, no one gets elected to a LVCG position without approval from Provo.
The only respectable aspect (IMHO) of the LVCG is that they resisted corporate takeover of their law enforcement (Lone Star and Knight Errant stand poised to take over, should something change), so the other sign of the LVCG you’ll see is the Metropolitan Police (MetroPol for short, MP for shorter, the latter also a dig at their somewhat militant response in some cases). The MetroPol do a good job at keeping law & order on the Strip (anything else would be bad business), in exchange for that the mobs let the MPs make a token bust to show to the public that the casinos are “clean”.
Beyond the Strip
That said, MetroPol really only cares about keeping clean the pieces of Vegas that bring in money. While technically having jurisdiction over the entire city, you’ll see Halley’s Comet before you see an MP on patrol north of the city. Highway Patrol is the roughest division, as they form the front-line troops keeping the rabble from encroaching in the city. When they do venture off the interstate, it is only in armored vehicles and full riot gear.
It’s not really as bad as you might think, it only seems that way compared to the sterile streets of the Strip only a few miles away. Some areas of interest:
Chinatown (Spring Mountain & Red Rock) – center of Triad activity (natch) in Vegas.
Koreatown (Spring Valley & Rainbow) -- center of Seoulpa Ring activity in Vegas. Also borders Chinatown, meaning that border is a Triad/Ring battleground.
Henderson – corp burb, has experienced huge expansion in the past five years. All shades of high class, so dress like you belong. Middle to high class residential.
North Las Vegas Barrens – ‘nuff said. Most of you probably live here, so I won’t say more.
Enterprise/Spring Valley/Summerlin – if not in the Barrens, that means you’re a moderately successful runner/mobster and live here. Middle to low class residential. Boring.
Paradise – Just east of The Strip and just north of the airport, this area is home to UNLV, some up and coming nightclubs, and a good chunk of the Vegas magical community. Home to the only Vegas Wiz-Kid gang.
Boulder City – a Ute city, gambling free, meaning this is the effective southern border of the Vegas sprawl. Ute military patrols out of here, so watch your step folks.
Ute Air Station (formerly Nellis Air Force Base) -- the effective northern border of the Vegas sprawl. Ute military patrols out of here too, though UAS duty isn’t the most sought after (most injun flyboys prefer the former Hill AF Base near Salt Lake), and as a result have a permanent bad attitude. And by “bad attitude”, we mean would rather geek you than talk to you, given any excuse.
Getting in and out…
…by Air:
99% of visitors to Vegas come through McCarren International Airport. Nominally owned by the Ute government, its day to day operations are governed by a consortium of local corps (the mob, the megas, etc.). Security is typical for a North American airport, which is lower than you might expect. There are a few other places to land a plane in Vegas – there is a private airport in Henderson that caters exclusively to corp traffic (really, anyone with enough money can use the facilities). There is a similarly sized airfield in North Las Vegas, though regular air traffic left it years ago as the area degraded into the hellhole it is today. However, you still find the occasional black market panzer or VSTOL sneaking in at night.
And, of course, there’s the UAS, which keeps a pretty tight radar net around the area (one thing they actually can do fairly well). You can sneak in some unscheduled chopper flights within the city without a flight plan (or a bogus one) – what is Vegas without some spontaneity? – but try to make a break to the Hoover Dam and you might end up as target practice for the UAS SAM batteries.
…by Sea:
Don’t be an asshole. (still a desert, folks)
…by Land:
Since the rest of the Ute nation uniformly despises the people of Vegas, and Vegas is surrounded on all sides by Ute territory, road traffic is discouraged, to say the least. Few locals stop, but some drive through. You get a few more visitors that come from Cal Free through Ute, though they better be tribal or rich enough to bribe your way through. I-15 is the major thoroughfare in this regard – north to Provo, Salt Lake, and points beyond, south to Cal Free. Route 93 is the other road that cuts through the city, though not quite as active (who wants to go to Reno anyway?). The bulk of traffic heading in and out of the city are freight vehicles (and most unmanned and remotely controlled, which has led to some interesting encounters from bands of North Las Vegas ruffians); this includes the heavy rail lines running through town.
…Illegitimately:
Which is, honestly, probably what you were interested in in the first place, and, natch, is going to depend upon your resources and level of desperation.
What not to try – being a stowaway.
Ute is paranoid about Anglos sneaking in and retaking over the territory, so they’ve wised up to neo-hobos breaking into open train cars or sneaking into the back of semi cabs. Companies must file manifests for every train and truck passing in and out of Vegas, listing content delivered, content picked up, delivery times, and so on. These are verified by layers of drone sensor systems, both fixed and mobile, at the city boundaries. And for every camera the Utes have on your cargo, there are two guns aimed in case something is up. If you want to smuggle something in by land, make a mob contact with the myriad of trucking companies they control.
What to try – use the airport.
Seriously, the flimsiest of fake identities if usually enough to get you in and out of McCarren; Vegas makes it money through tourism, so as long as you’re not on the UCAS Ten Most Wanted List, expect an easy trip into Vegas (and if you are on the list, you’ll only get an extra pat-down). Somewhat harder to get out (people don’t spend money once they leave), but not that much harder.
Away from the strip and the highways, there is a small and tight-knit panzer community operating out of North Las Vegas, using the surrounding mountains as camouflage in and out. High risk, high reward, and high prices if you want to tag along. That is, if you can find someone willing to talk to you.
Finally, in a worst case-scenario, you can just walk in and out of Vegas – the Ute sensor net, while probably locating you, has bigger problems than a drunk Anglo wandering into the desert and dying of heat stroke. And there are enough hiding places within the mountains that you could make it to Cal Free undetected if you had enough water…

20 otp questions
tagged by @minilev, @faithchel, @shellibisshe, and @chyrstis, all a while ago... sorry! skdflj
going to do this for faith/alice and elizabeth/tess!
1) who can outdrink the other?
faith/alice: alice. easily. you wouldn’t expect someone her size to have such a good alcohol tolerance, but she can easily keep up with hurk and sharky.
elizabeth/tess: hmmmm. tess, probably.
2) who says “i love you” more?
faith/alice: alice says it casually more, but faith says it with meaning.
elizabeth/tess: elizabeth.
3) who has trouble sleeping alone?
faith/alice: faith - she can sleep alone, she’s just much, much happier when alice is there with her. sometimes she feels a little silly curling into alice’s side when she’s that much taller than alice, but she feels safe that way.
elizabeth/tess: elizabeth. generally, when she has no option other than sleeping alone? she stays up until she literally can’t stay awake. the first night she gives up and sleeps in the same bed as tess? that’s her first proper night’s sleep in years. her nightmares don’t stop after she gets to jackson like she had hoped, but by then? neither her nor tess mind the cuddling.
4) who swears more?
faith/alice: lmao have you met alice
elizabeth/tess: listen, a lot of alice’s traits came from elizabeth (before i had decided to add elizabeth in) and uh... the swearing was one of them. tess gives her a run for her money, but elizabeth absolutely swears more.
5) who does more of the housework?
faith/alice: technically faith - they both do housework, but after faith moves in, she’s home more.
elizabeth/tess: ....hmmm.... elizabeth, i think - she hates cleaning, but she’s very particular about how things are cleaned.
6) who forgets their anniversary?
faith/alice: neither of them are really sure what day they should actually cound as their anniversary lol - the day they met, the day they started dating, the day they started dating again... etc.....
elizabeth/tess: okay so. elizabeth doesn’t actually remember what day her and tess met, or what day they became a “thing,” since that technically happened on their trek across the country. until they got married, they agreed to just use the day they arrived in jackson, but elizabeth really wishes she remembered. (Tess does - for both - but she knows elizabeth will immediately forget it... again....)
7) who steals the duvet in their sleep?
faith/alice: i think i’ve said alice for this before, but honestly? faith. she’s a massive blanket hog.
elizabeth/tess: elizabeth omg. tess doesn’t know how she does it.
8) who keeps the other awake at night with their snoring?
faith/alice: faith. and the cats. faith usually blames the cats, but alice knows she snores too.
elizabeth/tess: elizabeth says she doesn’t snore. tess says she talks, which is worse.
9) who finds stray animals and begs the other to let them keep them?
faith/alice: oh god. it’s alice. 100%. the worst was when alice decided that peaches was going to be a house cat - she was talked out of that, but she still made her a nest in the garage.
elizabeth/tess: once again, alice got her ‘adopting every animal she sees’ habit from elizabeth lol - she says all the semi-feral or feral cats she finds can be barn cats, but every single one that she finds that is friendly? it either ends up in her and tess’ house (which is tiny) or someone else’s. same with dogs and... any small animal, really. tess asked her to stop, but uh - then the neighbors started bringing elizabeth animals to place, which is how they ended up with their ferret, noodle.
10) who usually makes dinner?
faith/alice: alice is not allowed to cook.
elizabeth/tess: they generally will cook together, or whoever is home first will - neither of them are particularly good at cooking, but they like the process of it.
11) who plays their music out loud?
faith/alice: alice! faith has come home to alice having a dance party with the cats many times.
elizabeth/tess: hmmm. they both will - elizabeth’s more likely to blast her old record player, but tess will be a little more aware of the people around her and the house.
12) who hogs the bathroom?
faith/alice: listen. alice’s hair takes a lot of maintenance. she’s also terrible at putting in her contacts, so uh, that takes a while.
elizabeth/tess: elizabeth, once again lol. before arriving in jackson she didn’t really care, but once they were settled in, she felt like she could take time on her appearance again. and hot showers. god, she missed hot showers. and baths. (tess joins her in those sometimes - to save water, of course - but tess still takes significantly less time in there.) ....also, she tends to read a book when she’s in there and completely lose track of time lol
13) who gives the most compliments?
faith/alice: oh, they both will. a lot. i’m just terrible at writing them lmao
elizabeth/tess: tess. elizabeth is terrible at giving and receiving compliments
14) who usually starts/causes arguments between them?
faith/alice: after faith ditches the cult, it’s usually because alice did something reckless, which happens a lot more as they get closer to willow arriving in prosperity - faith is worried, and alice feels like she’s useless if she’s just hiding in the ranch.
elizabeth/tess: similarly - it’s usually because someone did something stupid/dangerous. tess has gone out on patrols when elizabeth didn’t think it was safe - incoming weather, too many infected nearby, etc, and elizabeth has burnt herself out before working in the barns, taking barn shifts, or (more often than she’ll admit) deciding the best way to fight the infected is by getting more than a little too close.
15) who isn’t afraid to embarrass the other in public?
faith/alice: .......faith.
elizabeth/tess: elizabeth.
16) who gives the other cringe-worthy pet names?
faith/alice: alice tries. she really does.
elizabeth/tess: okay i know i call her this too - but elizabeth hates being called bee lol. she’s not a fan of nicknames in general, so if you don’t get yelled at for calling her that? you’re pretty special to her.
17) who fusses over the other when they get sick?
faith/alice: alice will fuss, but faith? she goes full momma bird. there might be a taste of that in the next chapter (9, not 8) of otb 👀
elizabeth/tess: elizabeth tries, but her idea of helping is continuously handing tess soup. tess is a little better, but she will also listen to elizabeth when she says to stop hovering
18) who finds it impossible to stay angry at the other for long?
faith/alice: both of them. the fight they’re currently having in otb is the longest one that they have at about... i think my timeline has it at about three weeks total? there’s more but - spoilers! 😉 anyways, most of their fights are a few minutes to a few hours - they have a rule of not going to bed angry.
elizabeth/tess: elizabeth. she’ll sulk, yeah, but she can’t really stay mad at tess. or anyone. ever. it’s kinda a problem, honestly
19) who clings to the other for comfort when they’re sad or scared?
faith/alice: faith. alice is safe.
elizabeth/tess: elizabeth, though she’s gotten pretty good at talking herself out of being scared or showing the signs that something is up. she tends to hover near tess when she needs comfort, and tess learned pretty quickly how to recognize what was going on
20) who is more ‘physically passionate’? (hugs, kisses, or maybe more…)
faith/alice: alice. jesus christ, alice. slkjdf. i know faith is canonically very touchy - but uh... alice.
elizabeth/tess: tess - elizabeth is a hugger, but she’s also very bad at expressing emotions and knowing what touches are appropriate when (so she tends to just not).

MK: More accurate character description...
Characters in MK are so ...extraordinary, it's really hard to pinpoint what they are like, or who they are like...
Kazuomi Shido
I know a lot people have said that Kazuomi is similar to Shunichiro Tachibana from IM, which I agree. I think that's the closest we can get with Kazuomi, if anyone asks what Kazuomi is like. I mean they both have the image of being a scoundrel, both adored by his employees, and independent...But he isn't ENTIRELY like Shunichiro. Kazuomi seems more...carefree than Shunichiro in a lot of ways. He also doesn't act like typical rich dude either, like Kyosuke from RITE. But then again.. it doesn't quite pinpoint his personality entirely. It's his dark(?), mysterious yet carefree vibe that he gives off to MC. He views everything as a game. He does his work done, but in most... carefree way possible. He thinks everything that happens around him is amusing (or in his term, 'spice of life'). Only time when he actually got depressed was when MC left him in his MS. This guy has no shame whatsoever. He has no problem making sexual comments about mc. Some people said that he isn't 'sexy' nor charismatic, but I think he is sexy AND charismatic. It is just different sexiness that you feel from Shunichiro. Shunichiro is type of guy who works hard with serious face on, with some sense of responsibility. Kazuomi, on the other hand, is perceptive and he does work hard.... but not with serious face. One thing about Kazuomi is that, he appears as a big 'goofball', making you wonder how tf did he became a owner of resort. In fact, he is very perceptive and sensitive. I mean.. he hit on point with MC's previous dating history, just by looking at her Tom Cruise DVD collections! So far, it is hard to exactly grasp his personality in depth, since he has complicated personality (even more bidders...).
In short(so far), he has an image of being a scoundrel, yet loved by his employees. He appears carefree about everything, but he is actually pretty detailed and serious when it comes to work. He is surprisingly perceptive about little things that happens around him. He sees everything in life as part of his 'game'. Kazuomi doesn't act like typical 'stuck up' rich kid. He roams around the street in his casual clothes, not mind getting soaked by rain. He also doesn't seem too crazy about have gourmet food. He loves independent, and prefers independent woman, who arent afraid to voice their opinion (hence why he chose MC). He doesn't like people who suck up to him (sees them as boring). However, secretly he wants his gf, mc, to rely on him every now and then. He sees the amusement and challenge in revealing everything about MC, her heart, soul and her body. This also goes same for MC. Kazuomi is ,in a way, similar to Shunichiro and Kyosuke, but that does not describe him 100%. There is more to his personality. Something more complex than those two combined.
Yuzuru Shiba
This is going to be hard, since I only read the prologue and chapter 1 of his MS.... I have mentioned before that he is one who is more like Eisuke. I have only said that bcs he has foul mouth like Eisuke. However, he isn't controlling nor intimidating as much as Eisuke is. From what I have seen so far in 2 chapters, he kind of reminds me more of Kai from MFW7R (bcs he sees woman as 'tool', and is technology freak) . All I can say is, even though this rich dude has foul mouth, he still sees mc as an equal, just like Kazuomi.
Kei Soejima
This dude's personality is even more difficult to pinpoint. From what I have seen in Kazuomi's route, I feel like he is the one with most 'twisted' personality 😂 . In a way, Kei reminds me of Ota and baba from KBTBB.. But he has more mysterious vibe than Ota and Baba.. (to be quite honest, I see ota and baba as more of comedy duo... no offense to their fans🤣).
"Charms all ladies with his sweet mask". He gives me more of Chiaki from OTBS vibe, except in nicer version? Of course I could be wrong, since I am only basing this off of what I saw in Kazuomi's route.
BUT... One fact does not change.... and that is ..
They are all spoiled rich kids, who think $32 million car is a joke.

TAG - S2E20 ‘The Man From TB5′ Review
How brilliant was this!
First, the title – a nice little tribute to the TOS episode ‘The Man From MI5’ (S1E17).
The opening scene had a lovely image. Just another continuation of Jeff in the boy’s lives. I love how Gordon was sat on the desk as the boys always used to do that in TOS, so it makes sense they do so with their younger TAG incarnations. It just made me smile.
Gordon, Gordon, Gordon – we all know he likes Lady Penelope, but this was just hilarious in my opinion.
“Glad to help. Enjoy the party.” “Did I hear party? Need a date? I can be there in no time. Scott, let me borrow Thunderbird One.” “Uh, thank you Gordon, but I already have a date.”
The desperation and the way he turned and whispered to Scott, brilliant. Not to mention, that John looked like he’d trade places in a second without being asked. I loved Alan’s reaction. We know the way to get him off that tablet now.
And Scott knew the whole time. Gordon whining was incredible with this as an answer;
“He wanted it kept quiet.” “But I’m the obvious choice. John hates social… anything.”
There were so many brilliant things in these first scenes, so I will ramble on, with the aid of dialogue, which just made me laugh. Gordon should really know by now, not to open his mouth.
“Besides, who’s going to do space monitor duty?” “Funny you should mention that.” “I had to ask.” “Hmm, walked into that one.” “And who do you think’s taking him up there?” “Ohh…”
And maybe so should Alan.
Lady Penelope, you liar! I love how Parker just turned around to join in. Very impressive stop of the car too.
“It’s just a quiet, little charity auction.” “I may have understated the “quiet” part, a… a bit.” “hAnd the “little”.”
This image…
Gosh, that’s a lot, and all of this was before the opening!
Post the opening, the greatness continued. In fact, I don’t think it ever cut out.
“I thought there’d be a lot less… this: people, talking, in person.”
Bless him. His expression throughout the party.
“I mean communications is my job, I talk to people all over the world, I’d just rather do it from space.” “Exactly why I wanted to get you off that station.”
We all know she worries about him, ever since ‘EOS’ (TAG S1E8).
But, John’s good at his job, but I can see where he gets the aversion to people from. Being Jeff Tracy’s son probably led to you facing a lot of reporters and cameras, besides, he always loved space, so I suppose it makes sense that the two things he loves should go together. I’m actually quite surprised at how well he was dealing with gravity. (Or maybe Lady Penelope was just responsible for grounding him).
Parker is just… I think I could make the man my hero.
“Place like this his ha ‘otbed for pickpockets. hIn my day, this would ‘ave been ha goldmine.” “No one is going to pick anyone’s pockets tonight.” “Not while hI’m hon watch, M’Lady.”
A very nice reference indeed, because if I remember rightly, in the TOS episode (after which this is named) that is exactly what Parker was off planning to do!
EOS, you are amazing! I loved her playing Gordon up whilst her parent was technically away. She doesn’t half know how to play him either. My favourite of the lines;
“Hair style not recognised. And not very stylish.” “We speak of this to no one.” “To the rocket!”
That probably should have been done in the first place… just like Alan suggested.
It was a nice tactic of the writers to play on Parker’s newfound friendship with Sherbet so soon. It proves to us for once they haven’t created something (such as EOS – yes, you can tell I like the AI) and then forgotten it’s there to be used. Although saying that, she appeared in this episode too! So did almost all of our favourite brothers. It’s been a good few weeks.
John on Earth! Again – only a week after his last appearance. And, in a suit: he looks impressive in a suit. I like TAG putting him in the danger line, it allows way more expansion for his character. In short, I approve of the amount of John screen time in recent weeks. I loved this little interchange. John was just so awkward, and you can tell he had no idea how to deal with this extravagant over-the-top woman.
“And what exactly do you do, dear boy?” “Me… uh… I… well… I work in space.” “Space! What a coincidence. We just bought the pent house in the new Estrella Orbital. Perhaps we’ll see you there sometime.” “Considering my line of work for your sake I hope not.”
We also got to see Thunderbird Three dock with Thunderbird Five. A rarity, but something I love just for small reasons. It’s sad we couldn’t see a John and Alan moment though in their natural environment.
EOS was definitely having fun though.
“Sorry, didn’t catch the access code.” “We’ve never needed an access code before.” “New protocol. Protection against Space Pirates.” “I think we need an assist from “Mr Party”.” “Yeah, that or I’m using explosives! Thunderbird three to John, your housekeeper would like an access code.” “The code is, “EOS, let them in, or I’ll swap your processors with a pocket calculator”.” “Code accepted.”
Except, this was just another episode which proves John to be her parent. She really treats Alan and Gordon like younger brothers too.
Hmm… I’m not sure I would give those away if they belonged to my father. It’s a nice token I suppose, but I wouldn’t personally do it. Each to their own though.
And yes, The Hood was predictable.
Oh EOS… You’re not making it easy for them at all. I love the gravity going off line and of course the slip up;
“Sorry, still offline. If John were here, I’m sure he could get them working.” “Gordon to John, your AI’s being evil again.” “EOS!” “It’s not me this time!” ““This time”!” “I mean…”
I suppose the only word for that is payback. Still, you can tell Gordon is no expert in communications like John. Fog, anyone?
John is brave. Still, because I know I said that last week. (Where did the fork come from though?)
Bernard Bottomsley is very foolish, for once I agree with the villain. Of course, The Hood’s “dramatic” exit just has to the make the cut into this review.
It reminds me a little of the film version of Richard III’ where he ‘falls’ (The Ian McKellan version, if anyone wants to know what I mean).
And, oh look! The Hood stuck true to his word and turned off the jammer.
Thank goodness for magnetic socks. I wish we could actually have those. John really is trying to challenge Spiderman for the title though.
All I can say, is Alan learnt fast. I think we can see now why it’s Alan who swaps with John. Space just isn’t for Gordon. And nor is EOS.
I thought the dinging chair idea was imaginative. Poor Sherbet, travelling alone.
I don’t think John is ever going to live down the new nickname: Party Boy. I loved the rescue though and of course, my favourite line for the episode;
“I got you, Party Boy.” “Thanks, Scott. Just put me down anywhere. Anywhere… anywhere but here!”
And EOS on holo-communications with John! Yes, I thought we’d never get there. If I was able to go into space, I would definitely agree with John too.

Why fans have the need to label 1d and Louis songs? And why they have to make them about sexualities? They were furious with Liam for his song Both Ways because it contain lyrics about a bi or lesbian experience while Li is straight. They boycott his album and canceled him because of it even though he didn't write on it. It happened with Rita Ora too. Louis and the 1d boys (minus H who doesn't label himself) are straight why would they write songs about other sexualities? And why they have to +
connect them with one? For example, they say At The End Of The Day, Home, Only The Brave and almost all of Walls are gay/lesbian/bi anthems because there is no pronouns like he, she, her, him. L use you and they so, his album must be that. They were angry at Liam for that and trended a nasty hashtag on the release day. This was yesterday: "fuck u and your disgusting fandom for always invalidating lgbtq louies and their queer experience, finding comfort and feeling included in the gender neutral lyrics and album of OUR fav. fuck u".. " it's so fucking disgusting how * wanna take that experience away from lgbtq louies who feel included bc of walls being gender neutral? and for what? a petty stan war. makes me sick".. P.S. every one has the freedom to relate to the songs as they want but not to say for a fact the song label is this or the meaning is that and those tweets are not 100% about what I meant. A lot of drama because of this tweet: "do y’all know what gender neutral even means at this point.. singing to the person isn’t gender neutral. he literally says words like “queen” at places???".. but the main reason was a tweet by a Larrie. I know Larries are delusunal but why non Larries do this to him and get him dragged by other fandoms? Why other fandoms don't do this to their favs? Why it's always with L and the songs he wrote/ co wrote on them? Then they say enjoy the music and focus on them while they fight every one who doesn't agree with them or relate to the songs in different ways. They even fight who say I relate to the song in this way but Louis has said this song is about this topic or his gf. I'm sorry I know it's too long but I hope you got my point.
Well, the whole issue with Liam’s “both ways” song was that it was describing a bi woman having a threesome, and people considered it to be fetishizing.
Yes, Louis and Liam, both straight, wrote both End of the day and Home. But 1) there were other co-writers too, 2)we don’t know what exactly these songs are about, just like we don’t exactly know what OTB is about. So lgbt fans finding those songs relatable to them isn’t any problem, especially since Louis himself said many times how he wanted his songs to be relatable to other people. The problem is when conspiracy theorists use those and other songs to make conspiracy theories about Louis’ own sexuality and/or his secret relationship with Harry.
The problem wasn’t with some lgbt 1d/Louis’ fans finding the lyrics of Home relatable to their own experience. The problem was with larries who decided that Home is Louis’ answer to Harry’s IICF and therefore the biggest larry anthem ever. The ‘project Home’ they did was all about Louis and Harry being gay and in a relationship with each other.
Same about otb, about which I answered the ask earlier. And the whole thing with ‘gender neutral lyrics’ - I mean, Louis said many times that he wants his songwriting to be relatable to other people, so I think that’s one of the ways he does that. But still it doesn’t change the fact that he stated that a large portion of the songs on his album was written about his relationship with Eleanor. The fact that other people can relate to those songs, doesn’t change that. And it doesn’t have anything to do with his sexuality either.
I mean, most of Niall’s songs are ‘gender-neutral’ either. But I haven’t seen anyone making a big deal out of it, or creating conspiracies about those songs and his sexuality/relationships, or even claiming that makes his songs ‘gay anthems’. I mean, I am not the one to talk about it, so you better ask lgbt people - is calling a song written and performed by a straight artist ‘gay anthem’ wrong, even if there are lgbt people who love and relate to that song? I remember these were issues with artists like Rita Ora, Kary Perry and Taylor Swift, and people were saying that there are actual gay anthems, written and performed by gay artists, which you can support instead. Isn’t it the same here?

Arranged Marriage!AU one-shot
It’s been a long while since I wrote something and @catchthespade had this one post that got my gears going and... just don’t kill me because I actually intended this to be a one-shot...
[long post again...]
As the car got closer and closer to the Ichinomiya residence, ___ wrings her hands in a frenzy. This is her first time meeting her betrothed like this and all for economic reasons. Her family's company is close to going bankrupt -despite that they specialized in anything related to cooking- and the deal with the Ichinomiya family is more than perfect. Combining the best with the best, it was a deal that both parties agree to.
"Miss," the driver interrupts, "we are here."
"Thank you Hikaru," ___ whispers while the heavily imposing gates swing inward.
The second her butler, Shuichi, opens the door is the same one ___ is fighting every single nerve to not flee to a far corner inside the vehicle. A man with inky Arctic eyes glares at her while the man next to him smirks. If anything, ___ is a hundred percent sure that this is not going to work out. ~*~ "This is bullshit Eisuke," Soryu snarls the second the door closes. "The corporation is booming and you are making a deal like this!"
Eisuke sighs with heavy exasperation at his bodyguard's tone. This wasn't his idea either but Akira had already gone ahead with the deal with the ___ even before his adoption. It was-
"Akira told me that the deal was should anything happen to the ___ family, we get married. Today we are just signing the damned papers to show that her family's company is now part of the corporation," he flatlines. "I had no say on this even before today. He told me this yesterday."
As far as Eisuke is aware, Akira didn't even meet ___ inside the hospital where she was born and that the deal happened to ensure that ___ has a comfortable life. He did have to wonder about one thing though.
"Do a through search on all of her staff. Wet nurse, butler, everyone," he orders Soryu.
With a nod, he watches the other leave. Once the door clicks shut, Eisuke pages for a maid. He needs a heavy dose of coffee. Now. ~*~ "This is no fair... why does Eisuke have such a grumpy bodyguard," ___ whines while her hair gets brushed. "All I wanted to do was run away but with Shuichi in there it was impossible to... but...... Eisuke does seem nice..."
"I would be careful," her nursemaid, Chisato, warns. "The Ichinomiya Corporation is very powerful. Should anything happen while we are there, it will be instant death."
"Is he really that bad," ___ questions. "He is so cordial and polite."
"Then that is for you to decide miss," Chisato comforts, "because at the end of the day, he is your husband by law. Now go to sleep."
"Yes ma'am."
After Chisato leaves, turning the light off, ___ breaths an irritated humph. So what if the deal gets a green light, all that matters now is that she's in a good position. Just as she is to be. ~*~ Eisuke frowns from overhearing a loud ruckus, forcing him to pause mid-paperwork. Slamming his palms against his oak desk, he storms to the door to see...
/What the fucking hell is going on here/ he frowns.
The scene in front of him is not what he had in mind. On the floor is ___ with dirty water staining her new dress and shattered vases decorating her and the carpet. Nearby are three maids sneering, taunting and jeering with a few of his female business associates. Of course... these types of messes has been happening ever since the day after their wedding. He didn't dare touch her in order to produce an heir nor did he even leave a mark to show who she belongs to. It's a no-brainer to him but clearly there are those who disagree. Out a corner he sees Soryu cock his hidden gun. He signals for him to drop it. The latter reluctantly does so. Smoothing his suit and schooling his expression, Eisuke steps out.
"Ladies," he greets, "what are you doing to my wife?"
He sees ___ eyes widen a bit before relief floods them. There is nothing like the little things that she does that makes him feel like nothing is mundane. However, he isn't one for the frivolous love ideas of hers.
"We are just scolding her for being clumsy around such-"
"Do you take me for a fool," he hisses darkly. "Don't take me for a fool. Now all of you leave or else."
At the threat, they scatter. Eisuke signals for another maid as he helps ___ to her feet.
"Thank you for doing that. You are a wonderful husband," she smiles.
"Haven't you forgotten or should I repeat it," he mouths to her.
"Oh... but you're still my husband, not some other fool," ___ sulks. "And I'm not picking anyone else!"
Unknowingly, a soft smile dances across his face with the comment falling from his lips on gentle tones.
"You are far too nice for your own good." ~*~ Several weeks has gone by, leaving ___ able to finally relax inside her private gardens. To her knowledge, the maids got fired and the women who keep on giving her grief are also banned from ever interacting with her or Eisuke again.
"Ah... life is so peaceful," ___ smiles while sipping some tea. "Well back to work~"
But some odd reason, ___ cannot shake off a bad feeling after putting her cup down. The feeling lingers while getting closer to the main house. Something covers ___'s mouth and she manages to bite the hand then running off. While somewhat regretting wearing dressy jeans, ___ is happy that they are practical enough for one thing.
"Eisuke," ___ screams while fleeing the set of thudding feet. ~*~ "All right. ... I see. ... See to it that they don't have any further contact with any groups. And if possible, get Ota and Mr. Baba involved. ... I can't risk anything happening to my wife."
As his phone beep to signal that the call is over Eisuke looks at ___'s trembling form. He recalls what happened several hours ago. Her panicked screams ringing across the grounds mimicking the intuitive unease he was feeling... The way how the masked man was reaching towards her... Mamoru (a security guard) tackling the would-be kidnapper... The fuss with the police...
But despite all that, he feels some pride at ___ for being brave despite all the fear coursing through her. Biting someone who is attempting to grab you is stupid but...
"I'm glad you're safe," he murmurs gently, wrapping her in his scent. "I'm not going to loose my wife."
"Me too," her voice timidly leaks out. "Um..."
"Just don't do something that will risk our future."
"... Okay~"
For some odd reason... something that Eisuke can't explain to himself but during the few months after their wedding, he somehow gain something that was more precious than the corporation or a new addition to the business. The love that he thought had died when he was little, along with whatever hope he had then, had reappeared in the form of the being in his arms.
Author’s note: Yes I am familiar with how arranged marriages work and I also used some elements from an OTBS sub-story as help. I had to include Hikaru, Shuichi, Chisato, Soryu, Mamoru, Ota and Baba or it didn’t feel right adding in so many OCs.
On a side note... I didn’t include MC making coffee because I did allude to it with the cooking franchise thing. In all the KBTBB stories, MC is a cook that can only be rivaled by Baba and Luke.
I remember from the Japanese voiced stories that Baba is called Baba-san and thanks to @redpantychan for explaining how the honorifics work in Japan that I managed to get the feel right. I may live in America but I am respectful and aware of other countries. And Japan isn’t someplace that is as roomy as a wide open Kansas plain but rich people’s houses there can be somewhat insane...
Kudos to @catchthespade for all her Eisuke posts. Those helped me with how to get his character to develop in such a short time.

On experience, consent, and writing fanfiction
Like a thousand years ago I made a post acknowledging that I tend to write the SLBP MC as somewhat inexperienced about physical shenanigans. I HAD MORE THOUGHTS an entire 7 page friggen 3700 word discourse on this subject – aka, experience, consent, writing and fiction and our influences, enjoying what we enjoy, etc.
I literally don’t expect anyone to read or respond to this, it was mostly an exercise in explaining my thoughts to myself (I am a TEXTBOOK INTP y’all, and all that stuff about “people with the INTP personality type tend to share thoughts that are not fully developed, using others as a sounding board for ideas and theories in a debate against themselves rather than as actual conversation partners.” ME.)
And it’s gonna come across weird probably BUT IT WAS USEFUL to me in clarifying stuff in my head and I’m posting it mostly because I can. I know y’all come here for the fics not the thought process and I’m 100% cool with that. Wrote this for my own brain, you can read or wait for the next fic TOTALLY COOL EITHER WAY. ABBREVIATED VERSION:
People have different life experiences and levels of interest and they are all okay! (and Voltage? Maybe mix it up a little XD)
People have different levels of confidence with different people at different times in their lives, and this is all okay!
You deserve to be with someone who goes out of their way to help you feel confident and excited!
You should also do your best to make your partner feel confident and excited, if and when you choose to have one!
GET AND GIVE CONSENT! Always! Multiple times during the process if you sense or hear ANYTHING resembling ‘no’, ‘stop’, or ‘wait’!
USE PROTECTION! When appropriate!
We write, read, and enjoy what we know and what comes easily!
That does not always mean it reflects what would be safe and healthy in the real world, and I think that is 100% okay if you recognize and acknowledge that and don’t normalize it with your writing!
All of this factors in to how yoolee writes MCs and fics in her random-as-hell rambly way of doing things!
· ALSO I LOVE YOU ALL, carry on.
A LOT OF THOUGHTS ON THE SUBJECT:
Writing this with fem!MC because that’s all I have written so far, mileage may vary as that changes. Except on consent, all of the consent, everywhere!
On Experience, and the MC not having much
1.) It’s something I think is character-specific, and for whatever reason I just tend to write for the ones that this seems more likely for even though it’s not my headcanon for all of them Let’s take Saizo, for example. His POV’s are littered with references to MC’s innocence. Can you be innocent and experienced—YES, YOU CAN, but I’m a lazy writer and also see point 5 below if you want which will explain more about his particular case. With Yukimura, it’s just funnier if MC is (almost) as clueless as he obviously is and you’ll actually see that I flip around with Shigezane if I ever post my next fic with him, because I can see him with MCs all across the experience/comfort spectrum. And—pro tip—you can slide on that spectrum, folks. You can be inexperienced and confident, experienced and confident, experienced and not confident, and also next time be a little less or more confident, maybe it’s a bad time of week, idk, it depends on your mood and how people have treated you and hormones and other factors. Now, Kojuro’s MC, she feels confident to me and I love that. She is absolutely, in my headcanons, going to pull him into a linen closet, have her way, and not blush overmuch about it. Regardless of her experience level when they start, which is still probably going to be less than his just from an age-and-time-to-get-experience perspective, she is going to throw herself in with enthusiasm and catch up with confidence. Yasu’s I picture as somewhere in the middle, and, like Yukkin, he and MC are going to be similar in that respect. He’s going to want to initiate sometimes and sometimes he’s going to just need some affection and sweetness and same is true for MC and they are going to muddle the hell of their way through. Inuchiyo’s MC? Inexperienced but not going to be embarrassed about it. If anything, she’s going to tell him he doesn’t tell her she’s pretty often enough. We all know he thinks she is the most gorgeous creature on earth without hyperbole bless you Toshiie you do not get enough love in this fandom some of that may be that REALLY BAD MOMENT in your story and some iffy writing choices all around in that route that I’ll get to on point 3 but I appreciate you recognize what you did and try really, really really hard to make up for it which is why I love you anyway And then we have Masa who I feel like is a very occasional thing. The physical is a small detail in a greater emotional connection, and if I wrote them, the focus would definitely be emotion (Shingen, conversely, would be physical, with emotional highlights either before or after but less pertinent during).
On the idea of experience situated in context:
2.) It’s also world/story-specific – what I feel like works in SLBP-verse drives me friggin insane in modern-based apps I would NOT write Liar!’s MC the way I write SLBP’s. And I friggin love Liar’s! MC. I SO APPRECIATE when our modern MC’s are not quite as, er, flutteringly virginal? MC being so works in SLBP for me, in part because—especially as an outsider to Japanese history, to my regret—it feels like fairy-tale and legend and myth to me, and the one-love destiny narrative fits my culturally-indoctrinated feelings about those kinds of stories (thaaaanks Disney). This thing that I write and see in SLBP stories, that sort of makes me feel soft and aww, drives me batshit crazy in games like KBTBB, MLFK, OTBS, BUM, etc etc. Like, real world, modern women have a much wider variety of experience and inexperience than, everyone’s-still-a-virg-by-their-first-real-job. Are some folks? Yes. Are ALL folks? No. Is one better than the other? OF COURSE NOT, I just like variety. THAT SAID I know players of the games skew on the younger side and when I remember that I’m much more okay with keeping MC innocent >> Speaking of, in general, I tend to picture the SLBP MC as young. Not inappropriately so, but 18-20 (YES, that is YOUNG for the kind of relationship depth we see in these stories) and writing that age being a little insecure and a lot inexperienced is important for yoolee’s sanity and legality.
On consent 3.) SUPER IMPORTANT OLD AUNTIE LEE ADVICE FOLKS, K? (this is where we get a little preachy but hang with me please, I love you) Youngins, the whole 18+ thing is really, truly, not people just trying to be arbitrarily prudish. Please believe me on this. Both the reading-of and the act, there is legitimate and genuine science backing reasons to wait, and you are going to have your whole life to have fun with that if and when you so choose. And regardless, when and if you do choose to do so, it had better be with someone who is 100% willing to wait until you are comfortable, ready, enthusiastic and excited. You deserve that. Anyone who is not, anyone who makes you feel like it’s a condition to your relationship is not good enough for you period and end of story. AND this goes both ways – don’t pressure your partner, don’t assume based on what media or movie bias tells you is ‘the norm’, and communication is important. If things seem to be headed in that direction and you’re ready, just, check-in and make sure they are too. It’s as simple as ‘are you up for (more/this/etc)’?
If you read my stuff, I hope that you notice that in every fic where the MC says stop, her partner stops. And sometimes even when she doesn’t say it, but expresses some visible or nonverbal hesitation (ie, what is implied to have happened pre-Compliments) there is still a timeout in that moment on the part of her partner. And if you don’t notice that, hopefully it’s because it feels like such a natural and normal part of the flow that it didn’t disrupt your thought process on what you were reading. Why? Because a partner saying ‘stop’ is a clear sign you need to stop and reconfirm consent (yes, you get to change your mind mid-act! Yes, you get to change your mind about something you were comfortable with yesterday and aren’t feeling today! And so does your partner, so you should both be understanding and accepting if there is a ‘stop’ involved or needed) and my feelings that stopping to double-check when you hear stop SHOULD be normal and expected comes out in this sense. What happens in most of my writing? MC gets her moment, decides she’s okay, and they continue. And she deserves that moment. And if she didn’t decide she was okay, fic would have ended.
Is it a little subtle sometimes in my writing? Yes. Saizo in particular will stop but generally doesn’t follow up with verbal affirmation. But I do write with undertones of checking for mutually understood nonverbal signals – verbal is always better, but I do think people (/characters) who have an already committed, longterm and physical relationship are quicker to catch nonverbal go/no-go’s—the consent is still there, just not as loudly spelled out for the reader.
Ironically, the piece of mine where this is most the case is Heights and that is a) my least favorite—and of course it’s my most popular, snrk—and b) one of those cases where I’m writing them as quite a bit of time into this, so there are consent checks, just not straight yes/no questions, BUT DON’T ASSUME IN REAL LIFE OKAY.
Compare Heights (implied, longterm physical and emotional history) with AKoaDK (where it’s clearly spelled out this is definitely a first for a lot of things). In the latter, I think the MC gives consent—nonverbal nodding to questions or requests, or actually explicitly giving a verbal yes or okay—at least FIVE times that I remember off the top of my head in 2000+ words, and that affirmation is important EVERY. TIME. Did you notice? Were you distracted by it? I dunno. Whether you did or were or not, it was there intentionally, and hopefully naturally, because it is that easy to weave in.
On fanfiction and the source material being, well, fiction:
4.) That said, my preference for how I write is not a dictate on how I think others should, nor is it even 100% relevant to what I, personally, like to read. In other words – I feel like the responsibilities as a CONSUMER of content and a CREATOR of content are different. I have a frankly very guilty fondness for some of the fighting-ends-in-a-bed-or-against-a-wall-with-dubious-consent romance novel storylines, and my actual, personal reading preferences tend to skew to rough and straight up problematic themes. And I’m generally pretty comfortable with saying never feel guilty for the stories you want to read, or the stories you want to tell – fiction is a much safer, healthier way of exploring things that in the real world would not be safe, acceptable, healthy, or okay if it were happening to us or others.
I am also not young and not inexperienced XD soooo I have some perspective going into these stories. I also recognize I, personally, have control issues, and see ‘safe exploration’ above. I do think there is some truth, however, to putting what we want to see in the world into the world as content creators.
And I do think that, when we are inexperienced, what we read does shape our perceptions, even knowing that it’s fluffy escapism. And as much as I may personally enjoy some questionable fiction—and write it, depending on your tastes—which probably comes, in some extent, from the media I consumed and was introduced to before I was personally experienced, in which these behaviors were normalized, I like the idea of adding some content into our small little fandom world that helps, subtly or obviously, normalize stop-means-stop and consent as an easy, casual part of the process. My stories where this is less true I probably won’t put out into the world because even though I know where I’m coming from….meh. Just, I’d rather stick to what I put into the world being the way it is. More on the why of that below.
Even doing this, I’m grateful for writers with different tastes, experiences, perspectives and preferences. The rich variety in this fandom is one of the reasons I love it, and I LOVE seeing these other takes on relationships. It would be boring as heck if everyone wrote like me.
On Lee and her life and how that plays into how she writes MC:
5.) Some real-world perspective (aka, we write what we know) – getting back to MC degree of confidence I am, overall, incredibly comfy in my body. I’m exactly average for an American girl weight-wise circa 2010, if not distribution-wise, which means quite a bit heavier than your international average. And I wear a bikini with cheerful and enthusiastic pride, and I’m an ex-ballerina, so I have thought nothing of stripping to my skivvies in thirty seconds with sixteen stagehands around, or getting changed in semi-public places with my 501st friends who are a grab bag of ages and genders. As long as everyone around is 18 or older, I operate on a ‘it’s nothing they haven’t seen before’ scale and I have found that if you don’t make a big deal out of your body and not having clothes on it temporarily, and what it looks like in this state, literally no one else will either. It’s a nasty catch-22 that if you are nervous and fidgety about your muffin-top, and you go out of your way to not draw attention to it, that’s probably exactly what you’re going to do. Own it with confidence and don’t think about it and no one else will either. Not 100% there yet? Fake it until you make it, as they say, and I think you’ll find I’m right, in this case. Another super cool aspect of that? It’s contagious. I don’t know about guys because I’m not one, but I will never forget being 14 in a bikini for the first time and being nervous and my best friend cussing for the first time saying eff it, let’s do this, I like how we look, and I felt like I owned the world. When you see someone enjoying themselves, not caring what others think, sometimes it’s easier for you to do the same – so hey, you can be an inspiration.
NOW WE GET TO TMI TIME FOLKS . I REALLY, REALLY MEAN THAT. I am literally about to allude to my personal sex life, folks, so move along, ye of younger eyes and/or uninclined to want to know about these things. SO. One very, happily, body-positive, confident yoolee, right? Right! And yet! I still to this day get nervy as hell being n with my much-taller than and also much more fit than I boyfriend. It’s a little less each time, but still. Now, my body was like this when we started dating, and remains true, so it’s not like my body being what it is could be any kind of surprise to either of us. And nevermind that he tells me I’m beautiful, and amazing (he does, we actually have a rule he is not allowed to compliment me more than three times in a row because it’s embarrassing—yes, he is super sweet and I am insanely lucky) and has from day one, there’s just something about it that frazzles me. I suspect because, day to day, it’s about making myself happy and I have no problem doing that, but when I’m in a relationship, I want him to be happy too, and him saying he is isn’t the same as me KNOWING I am.
Does that make sense? So yes, I do tend to color MC’s experience with mine here, particularly with some of my character favorites, and there’s some self-insertion here and the canon textual clues to support this always feel like they jump out at me in those stories, even when I blatantly ignore them in others—see Kojuro, above. Also worth noting, boy and I have been together a long time and we still check in, per my last paragraph in the last section. And I’ve said no sometimes, and he has too to certain things. And it’s nbd, we just cuddle and turn on Avengers or something. Life is good with communication, friends.
Triggery stuff And yes, as you can probably infer from my tendency to word vomit on the subject, I have experienced, personally, consent boundary issues on two occasions that ended in nonconsensual encounters. One of them was my first kiss, and some disturbing touching, which was taken from me when I was 13 but a stranger in his forties who followed me at a public event I was volunteering at for four hours, telling me he loved me and how tragic his life was, and was taken in exchange for not stalking me further. The other was jail-time and court-worthy though it didn’t come to that (because of course it didn’t, for other reasons) and the defense offered was directly tied to a perpetuation of media myth (playing hard-to-get, never give up on the dream girl, she’ll love you by the end of the movie, but you were nice to me so I thought) so if it seems like I am putting way too much thought into this, YES. I TOTALLY, COMPLETELY AM but—it does shape how I view this sort of thing—and, specifically, my role in potentially perpetuating ideas in fiction rather more strongly and with more depth than it may have otherwise.
I recognize that both of those encounters, perversely, contribute to the fiction I enjoy in some weird psychological attempt at normalizing what happened in a potentially unhealthy way – I’m sure I’m a textbook case. Because I recognize that, I’m not hard on myself for my preferences. ANYWAY.
These encounters were also, I want to be clear, blips in my life that have not diminished my present health or happiness in any way—they just shape my perspective rather more immediately than it might have been without them.
OKAY IF YOU SKIPPED YOU CAN COME BACK NOW for a sidenote – I am not a professional writer. What you see on this blog is it. I don’t write for anything else unless it’s for work, and that’s not fiction, it’s training on leadership skills and stuff. I have not written fanfiction since like, the fifth Harry Potter book came out. The BOOK, not the movie. That was 2003. That was eighth grade for me. Good lord. And haven’t written fiction in general since one intro to creative writing class sophomore year of undergrad. I got a chemistry degree, folks, I wrote lab reports not romances (okay that would be such a good blog tagline tho) So I DO lean on that ‘what comes easy to me is what I know’ thing. What I don’t know, I google the heck and a half out of, but that’s much easier with the technical than the emotional. Good writers can summon up believable emotion they have not experienced or doesn’t casually interest them enough to imagine, and I still absolutely need practice with that. This is good for me in that sense, but you will notice that for all my talk of variety up above, I tend to write all emotion experienced in these situations pretty similarly. Gonna work on that.
…………………some day I will learn to express my thoughts succinctly. I have a lot of strong feelings about consent and confidence okay. OH THAT REMINDS ME.
On BC:
6.) BIRTH CONTROL TOO, OKAY?
Okay, this is important and yet I don’t write about it much. BUT USE IT EVEN IF I DON’T WRITE ABOUT IT. Except with Saizo, if Iga can make truth serums they can make BC, fight me on that, and of all the samurai I firmly believe he is the one who will not risk MC get with child without a lot of coming to terms with things first, and if you see the MC drinking anything in my writing with him you can safely assume there’s an important powder in there, and if I don’t write it, IT HAPPENS ANYWAY, Little One being the…ironically obvious exception, but my point is that would not have been an accident, but a very, very calculated decision that he is still probably always worried about.
I also don’t think it has as much place in this narrative and story, because, legitimacy issues aside, preventing one, to me, doesn’t feel like it would be as much of a priority for these characters in a we-are-in-a-warzone-and-I-may-never-see-you-again time and place as it would for, say, the Scandal in the Spotlight protags, who reasonably have regular and easy access to modern, easy prevention and a vested reason for using it, namely that they have a lot going on without screaming babies adding to it. SO I may not always write it in but you can generally assume that if I write anything modern, there’s some kind of BC whether that’s chemical or an off-screen.
If a couple is in a long-time, monogamous relationship and they are comfortable with and prepared for, financially, emotionally, etc for the possibility of offspring, different story. Otherwise – prevention, peeps. PREVEEEEENTION.
Okay.
I think that’s it.
This has been a stupidly long PSA from someone who overthinks this fanfiction stuff.

10.) if you / a fanfic writer could RE WRITE one voltage game / route what would it be , why and what would you do differently?
tbh hands down kbtbb , i have like so many interesting scenarios for kbtbb , i think they could work ya know & i would love to rewrite eisuke’s season one main story tbh , it’s not bad it’s just it could have been better in my honest opinion as much as i love eisuke so much ❤️. i kinda would make mc more sassy and savage for eisuke like how she was in hikaru’s main story ! YOU KNOW HOW AWESOME THAT WOULD BE 😂?! but then again i kinda understand why she was like that in season one for eisuke cause then she could have a major character development and shit!! but yeaaaaah (:
Getting To Know Ya
This is my 2nd year on Tumblr and Voltage fandom, despite the downhill of fandom and restless anon hates, I often feel encourage and welcome here. It’s amazing how I manage to have over 1700 followers when I barely write much these days. I admit the lack of feedback is unmotivated since I stop doing smut, I mean one shot smut without plot is easy and hot, of course, we’d enjoy that but I want my writing to be more than that.
I’m thankful to all followers but also the ones who stick with me and send all the kind words when I need them most. I suck at small talks and reluctant at making new friends for I’m the kind to give it all or nothing, one if my 2018’s resolution is to make friends / networking.
So let’s get to know each other if you like: @icedragonprincess /@destinywanted / @hifftn / @nitelotus / @whatdoyouexpectthistime / @smutmylifeup / @dms-903 / @kiniloves / @mrszala / @111archravenue / @medievalbingeprincess69
1) Your name (real or screen name, whatever you want to be called) Kara Lee (the name I go by as fanfic writer)
2) Where you from Hong Kong, now residing in AKL NZ (GMT+13)
3) Age / status (if u wanna share) 30, married with 1 child
4) How many years have you been playing Voltage? umm probably something around 7-8 years
5) Favorite & least fav Voltage game Fav- Her Love In The Force & MPD Close To You L Fav- My Wedding and 7 Rings
6) Favorite & least fav Voltage men Fav- The boys from HLITF, Kirisawa (MPD), Kagari & Rikiya (ASA) L Fav- Sera (ASA), Kai (MWA7R)
7) Favorite Voltage fanfiction writer / artist @obiwanmcprobie & @hifftn if you haven’t read their fics, highly recommend you to do so
8) Why do you play Voltage? Becuase the guys are insanely hot! The concept was new back then with various of routes and story background- a cop, supernatural theme and divorced woman trying to make her way back to the world until the repetitive plot with almost identical mc… Every now and then, they get better ie: ASA, Irresistible Mistakes, Liar! but there’s just no WOW factor anymore.
So these days, mainly still for the hot guys and to refresh my memory while writing fanfics- cux they don’t disappoint.
9) What’s the best you love about Voltage? They hire great artists? And once wrote terrific stories? Bottom line, they are here to run a business, not charity. They couldn’t please everybody, sure but are they capable of doing better, hell yeah.
10) If you / a fanfic writer could RE WRITE one Voltage game / route, what would it be, why and what would you do differently? Ha- I started doing my own version of Irresistible Mistakes because I thought it’d be more interesting with a female who’s a superior or at least same level as canons. (Hotel owner vs maid/ Supervisor vs junior, ya I think we could use something else!)
Ultimately though, I seriously wish someone could re write KBTBB. Maybe canons being sold? Oh wait, @nitelotus already did ;) Or perhaps MC who’s in law enforcement? Oh wait, I did that!
It’s a controversial game and it does have tremendous potential with such strong and complex characters if only the mc is more…. I don’t know feisty, brave? Speak up her mind? I adore her kind-hearted, I do but the way she puts up with shit just makes me roll my eyes to the back of my skull =.=
So these’re my answers, let’s hear yours :)

Horse racing betting: Terms, tips, and explanations
How to choose your Kentucky Derby horse
There are numerous approaches to handicap a horse race which will pick a winner. A few gamers rely completely on beyond performances, others are pure physical handicappers (which means they watch the horses prior to the race to pick out which ones appearance the satisfactory), A few play pedigrees, others assemble their very own pace and pace figures, and others locate new and innovative ways to select their horse. There’s no one way to handicap a race, but there are Some fundamentals that every player normally develops.
In case you’re looking for the uncooked records this is the lifeblood of handicapping the horses, you’re going to need to get familiar with several web sites: the Each day Racing Shape, Equibase, and Brisnet. At every of those web sites, a number of the statistics is loose and some of it requires you pay a fee. Generally, entries (with morning line odds), scratches and modifications, and effects charts are unfastened. If you need beyond Performances and different handicapping merchandise (clocker reports, pedigree data, and so forth.) you may need to pay a rate.
The Triple Crown explained The whole thing you want to recognize approximately horse racing’s largest success, and why we nevertheless care a lot about one of the rarest feats in sports activities.
At Equibase, you could get right on entry to entries, adjustments/scratches, and effects charts without registering. Brisnet and the DRF Commonly require which you register to get right of entry to the fundamental information. The registration is loose.
The Every day Racing Form is quite much the Bible for lots horseplayers — it gives past performances for almost each race around the united states. you can buy a Racing Form in print at your nearby newsstand or fuel station (there may be a Shape Finder on their internet site), or download the Shape over the internet at their internet site using their Formulator software. Equibase and Britney additionally promote past performance statistics; I’ve used Brisnet PPs inside the beyond however have in no way tried out those from Equibase. Maximum of these websites will have samples of what their PPs appear like and it’s a good idea to look what’s accessible and what works for you If you want to shop for this kind of facts.
Horse racing, more than every other sport, lends itself to many humans trying to promote a potpourri of information to players. Tip sheets, statistics packages, betting strategies, pedigree evaluation, and on and on and on. a number of the information that is out There’s extremely good and A few is pure crap. If you are just starting out in this recreation, start gradually. choose up a Shape and take it piece by means of a piece. As you get extra into the sport you may start to know what facts you want to have and what information is only a waste of money.
4 pillars of handicapping horse racing
For my part, learning to read the Shape is step one in the delivery of a handicapper. Although within the future you utilize different techniques than past performances to handicap a race, the foundation of handicapping information may be constructed by means of learning how to read a racing Shape – whether it is a Shape by means of DRF, Brisnet, Equibase, or something totally distinct.
All the corporations that promote beyond overall performance normally have “a way to” guides explaining what all of the symbols and numbers on their forms mean. A Form can be very intimidating if you have no idea what any of the names and numbers represent, however when you analyze the vocabulary it could be as lovely as a priceless work of artwork.
mastering to read a racing Form will assist you to recognize the four simple pillars of handicapping: pace, pace, Shape, and class. Certainly put, “pace” is associated with how speedy the horses run the entire race; “tempo” issues how speedy the horses run at one-of-a-kind factors of a race; “Shape” is related to the contemporary situation of the horse and whether or not it has been going for walks accurate or awful in its recent races, and “magnificence” pertains to the extent of opposition a horse has been competing towards. A hard and fast of past performances gives clues to all 4 of those handicapping pillars, clues that the player should decipher a good way to place a triumphing bet.
getting to know to read A set of beyond performances isn’t difficult but it’s also something perfected through the years. once you master an information of what the facts approach, then you definitely can pass on to figuring out how a lot of weight you want to present certain factors in making your wagering selections. you will also begin to broaden your very own handicapping style, which is whilst the game starts to turn out to be a whole lot of fun — while you begin selecting winners based totally on your own theories and conclusions.
a way to watch or stream stay horse racing In case you need to observe stay racing from the consolation of your private home you have got basically two alternatives: you may watch on one of the two Television channels that cowl racing or you may watch live streaming video over the internet.
The 2 horse racing channels are Tv Games (TVG) and TVG2. Each network broadcast the stay simulcast feeds from the tracks and feature on-air personalities that handicap the races during the day. Most cable companies provide TVG, although many have it as a part of a sports activities p.C. or something comparable.
If you don’t get TVG out of your cable or satellite company, you could still watch all of the motion via the high-quality international of the net. stay video streaming is provided free by a few tracks (too few, If you inquire from me). Tampa Bay Downs, for example, is one music where you may visit their website and watch all in their races stay. In addition, they offer loose replays. Keeneland additionally gives live streaming at some stage in their spring and fall meets.
If you want to look at the motion from all tracks over the net you may usually watch thru a wagering internet site In case you are a registered member. The subsequent section offers with wagering websites or ADWs.
wherein to wager on horse racing just watching horse racing is the first rate, but the proper thrill of the sport is the capacity to place your money wherein your mouth is and bet on the horses. In case you want to bet on all of the movement and you do not need to pressure to your local track or OTB, and you stay in a state that allows ADW (Enhance Deposit Wagering), you may guess over the internet or the telephone thru one among several websites.
Underneath is a list of some of the bigger ADWs that people use to wager. every website is exclusive; Some provide unfastened video streaming, others feed a month-to-month rate or an “in step with bet” price relying on your cope with, and A few give you rebates relying on how much you bet. If making a decision to signal-up with an ADW, make certain you study All the policies and necessities. Many ADWs are going to no-wagering expenses and unfastened video, but you need to always do your homework before you jump.
additionally, like the Television networks, no longer all ADWs convey every track. make sure you check what tracks every website lets in you to wager on due to the fact you don’t need to sign up with an ADW that doesn’t allow you to guess on Keeneland In case you genuinely like to guess Keeneland.
[Note: If you don’t know whether your state allows you to bet through an ADW, it’s pretty simple to find out. Go to one of the websites and try to sign-up. When you put in your address, the system will let you know whether they can take bets from you or not. Also, an ADW will ask you for your Social Security number. They have to do this since they are required to report to the IRS any winnings over $600, and they have to withhold taxes for any winnings over $5,000. If you hit a trifecta that pays $1,000, that amount gets reported to the feds. If you hit a superfecta that pays $10,000, you’ll have 25% taken out before your winnings are deposited into your account.]
Under is a brief list of the huge, widely known ADWs. There are many others out there – A few correct, Some no longer so correct. I make no representation approximately any of those; Some I have used in the past, others I’ve in no way performed with.
ExpressBet TVG TwinSpires BetAmerica Bovada the way to make a bet on horse racing betting Terminology K, with that little bit out of the way, let’s check the betting lingo and the kinds of wagers you can actually make on an equine athlete. Below is an odds-percentage conversion chart for common odds in horse racing.
To figure you ways much you’ll receive a commission In case you hit your win guess, Honestly divide the numerator of The percentages by using the denominator, multiply that range via the quantity bet, and then add the amount wager.
vicinity and Display payouts are extra tough to calculate given that tracks do not display The odds on The one’s bets. typically, they pay much less than half of what the winning odds play (except the pony is a huge longshot and the fave would not finish inside the pinnacle 3).
Identifying the payouts on exotics are a mixed bag; tracks display the “Will Will pay” for exact and Daily doubles, but you may not have a clue as to what your trifecta, superfecta, choose 3, and many others., can pay till the collection is over. Normally speaking, trifectas and superfectas will return large amounts, but be cautious, playing all of the favorites in a trifecta is in all likelihood going to return a small amount in particular whilst as compared to how tons your wager cost. In case you spend $a hundred and twenty on a superfecta container that consists of a bunch of low-cost horses, you’ll be very dissatisfied if it hits. The key to hitting large scores is to discover Some longer priced horses to play on the side of shorter priced ones.
How a whole lot will its price? We’ve got all of those uncommon bets wherein you are looking to pick the order of finish or the winners in a couple of races. Many first time bettors think that to play an exacta (or tri or another exotic) calls for you to use just two (or 3 or 4) horses for your play. you could pick out as many horses as you want but the more horses you pick, the greater expensive your price tag becomes. the first step in determining what a specific bet will value is to recognize the minimum amount required for each wager. At Churchill Downs day after today, here are the minimal quantities required for each wager supplied:
extra special having a bet terms which can be relevant to wager cost are “container” and “WHEEL”, and they follow especially to exacta, trifectas, and superfectas.
A wager this is the BOXED way that your selections can finish in any order. as an example, say you want the #1, #2, and #3, you want to play them in an exacta however you do not know which one you need to select on top (to win). You may “field” The ones 3 horses in an exacta and you would win if any of these 3 finish first and 2nd.
A WHEEL (or Component WHEEL) is extraordinary than a container in that it includes choosing exceptional horses in each role of the guess. as an example, shall we say you want the number 1 to win, however, suppose the #2, #3 and #4 would possibly end second. In that situation, you’ll guess an exact wheel in which the wager might be set up to pay if the number 1 wins and either 2-3-4 finish 2nd. If any of 2-3-4 win and the #1 finishes second, you will no longer win with that exact wheel.
You are probably thinking, “Why could anyone no longer box an exacta, trifecta, or super considering the fact that my alternatives can end in any order, even as with a wheel There may be much less margin for errors?” The fast solution: because of boxing a bet expenses more.
Directly wagers are clean to calculate: a $20 win bet fees $20. No issue there.
A field wager is calculated via multiplying the bet quantity by means of the full number of horses selected, and then multiplying that by way of the full range of horses selected, minus one. Or, stated another way: Make experience? For trifecta and superfecta bins you calculate the value the same way but hold subtracting one from the full range of horses in each leg. for instance:
you could see how the expenses begin to strengthen in a container scenario since you’re playing each viable aggregate with The one’s numbers.
With a WHEEL wager, the cost is stored down but you need to decide which horses you want in certain positions. allow’s take the above scenario again. shall we say you like the number one and #2 to win, but suppose any of these 5 ought to end 2d. here is how you will calculate that wager fee: because you are the usage of the 1 and a couple of in Each the win and place slots, you calculate the wager by way of multiplying the wide variety of horses in the first leg through the wide variety of horses in the 2nd leg, minus one. If you excluded the 1 and a pair of from the second one role however still used 5 horses, the bet could calculate as Underneath:
Proper away you may see that an exact wheel guess prices approximately half as a whole lot as the container scenario since you are playing fewer combinations. there’s a better risk, but the rewards (and profit margin) are better because you are not losing cash on mixtures that you do not agree with will come in.
(Facet note: In case you were on the tune or an OTB and desired to make either of these exacta bets in man or woman, you’ll stroll to the window and say: “track Name, Race quantity: $2 Exacta container, 1-2-three-4-5” or “song Call, Race range: $2 Exacta, 1 and a pair of with 1-2-three-4-5”. Saying “with” is the way you separate horses from the primary, 2d, third or fourth positions to the clerk. And continually check your price ticket before you stroll away.)
Calculating trifecta and superfecta wheels follow the identical components because of the exacta wager above. However, In case you need a less difficult manner to calculate your wagers, you can discover a variety of waging calculators on the web, such as a nice one at WinningPonies.Com.
So We’ve mentioned the vertical exotics (exacta, trifecta, superfecta), allow’s talk about the horizontal bets, that are some of the Most popular bets on the music. A horizontal wager is any wager that includes making a bet on a sequence of races, alternatively that just one unique race. A select four, in which you attempt to pick out the winners of 4 consecutive races, is a horizontal guess and can pay very nicely, depending on The chances of the horses that win at some point of the series. As with any wagers, you can select as many horses as you need but the cost of your ticket will increase with every horse added into the mixture. To gather on a choose four-bet the usage of the horses above, you’ll need at least certainly one of your choices to win in each leg; quite simple. the use of most effective one horse in a selected race, as is done within the 3rd race in our instance, is referred to as “singing” a horse. Singles are very crucial due to the fact they help to reduce the fee of your price tag.
Calculating the fee of a vertical bet is simple: Certainly, multiply the wager amount with the aid of the variety of selections in every leg. using our above instance, that pick four ticket might fee the subsequent amount.
The energy of the “single” need to be obvious; if we had selected two, 3 or four horses in that 3rd race, our ticket might have doubled, tripled or quadrupled in cost. it is no longer required which you use a single; if you have the cash to spend and you want better coverage, spend away. but Most players like to try to locate one race where they have a high single that will use extra horses in the races wherein matters appear a huge open.
Moreover, you do not have to play each bet to the minimal amount. Our select 4 example above will be played to a $1 base, or $2, or something you want. Of direction, the higher the base quantity, the extra expensive your ticket becomes.
Or, simply guess to win In case you’re a little overwhelmed with the sheer quantity of having a bet options you can take heart with the truth that you do not need to play all of them. In fact, the satisfactory wagering strategy normally entails finding a solid win wager earlier than doing something else. In case you can not parent out which horse is going to win a race, you probably shouldn’t be diving into bets requiring you to additionally choose horses in second, third, or fourth. however In case, you find a stable play for the win, then you could begin to department out into the greater complicated wagers. Like in poker, you need to head “all in” when you feel you have the benefit, now not due to the fact you need the movement.
