My roommate has kinda introduced me to anime recently (specifically, one science anime that i actually really like) and its kinda put into perspective for me just how sexualized not just women, but everyone is in media. Like, once i started seeing it in anime suddenly its EVERYWHERE. Nowhere is safe, especially not ads or mainstream tv or social media, and i absolutely HATE it. I wish i could go another day without realizing just how much an artists choice is meant to turn people on

Reasoning: shows discomfort and disinterest when someone is affectionate or flirty, no matter the gender. doesn't dislike people, quite the opposite, is just really averse to anything romantic. when other male characters blush at beautiful lady, he either isn't paying attention or praises technicalities.

About season 2 and 3! I watched them and I’ve also binged the entire manga. Spoiler, everything about him remains the same LOL. I do highly recommend watching Dr. Stone because familial love is a big focus and his aroace moments are ✨gems✨ Senku as an aroace icon is one of the reasons I kept up with this series haha

AROACE(spec) KOHAKU!!!!

I haven’t really given this much thought but I AGREE!! Spoiler, she shows some interest in Senku towards the end but it’s kept light/casual because they’ve always been like that - a long relationship built on familiarity. She never hesitates about loving him, but she also doesn’t show that love romantically. Maaaaybe implied but never aloud. Also, they are so funny when put in romantic situations together, it’s AMAZING. And when we spotlight their relationship, it’s very heartwarming (season 3!). Even the people around them agree their relationship is not romantic in nature. GAH they’re both so aroace coded.

Realizing I often don’t appreciate their friendship verbally because I know they’re shipped together. :,) it’s nice to talk about! Plus I LOVE Kohaku as a character, she’s fantastic.

Well this definitely made me want to watch Dr Stone, maybe I'll start watching it again or I'll start reading the manga! Platonic and familial love and the found family trope is something I love, one of my favorite tropes. And I also absolutly love how much aroace is Senku, such an icon, it will be more funny to see it now that I know I'm aroace.

KOHAKU AND SENKU, THE AROACE DUO. They are both such good characters and I always loved their dynamic, strong girlboss and nerdy chief scientist. Their friendship is just so wonderful.

This is a serious issue we need to talk about more. Aroace characters like Senku and Saiki K are constantly misrepresented. Like yeah Saiki says something similar to “she has a nice face shape that makes her look attractive” but he wasn’t saying he was attracted to her. Literally the whole series is him trying to get away from her also just because he wants to be like that one basic dude don’t mean he wants to be with the basic dude.

With Senku he has no romantic partner. Yeah it was hinted in the anime as a joke, multiple times but that’s the point. It was referenced as a JOKE for a reason.

Also both anime’s are comedy anime’s so the main character is more likely to not get a love interest or to not be in love so the series can keep going. In most anime’s once the main character falls in love and settles down then the anime ends. Like if Luffy got a wife after he finds the one piece, or when Kaneki got married, when Tanjiro and kanao settle down.

In comedy’s they typically like to leave it on a cliff hanger. They want the audience to feel incomplete so they will gain more off the series. Yeah Senku and Kohaku kissed but it was only a misdirection and they both were genuinely grossed out by it and they looked like they were about to throw up.

Dr Stone wouldn’t end with Senku settling down with someone. That’s just not how he is. Even after he saves the whole world he’s gonna keep doing things. Making new inventions and maybe leave all his work for a successor to do the same thing he did. It’s Senku, he’s not gonna do the deed when instead he could be helping the world get back on track.

And if we’re being fr rn there is NO WAY either of them would do that. Like I’ve pictured it and all I can picture is Senku about the throw up and Saiki passing out. Maybe it’s just self projection but I’m just being fr rn.

Please note that I took most of my information from online, and I didn't personally read/ watch everything, so there may be some mistakes. Also, some of the not-canon characters are very likely aspec, but just not confirmed. And especially if they say/ do really obviously aro/ ace stuff, I wasn't sure if it's enough to put them in the "confirmed" category. (e.g. Saiki literally said he isn't attracted to anyone regardless of gender, and never wants to be in a relationship. But there are still people who doubt his aroace-ness. (And at this point I don't see how it could be anything but aphobia, to deny the mere possibility of him being aroace so vehemently lol.) )

Also: Sadly, I couldn't find good aro-allo characters except Claire/ Claude from "baker thief". There is tons of good a-spec representation in that book (also more side characters that I didn't mention here), but I couldn't really find any fan-art. Hell yeah! My mun (Rara) is grey-grey but Senku being grace or ace just makes ten billion times of sense. No one who is on the aro or ace spectra is broken or incomplete--we just find fulfillment in our social lives differently. Romance and intimacy are okay--and hell we're valid to explore those dynamics! But our priorities lie elsewhere in our everyday lives, and it just feels... Good. It feels good to value our platonic and familiar loved ones--and of course value ourselves.

Gen as aroallo sounds SO CANON

But before I start talking I want to say that I am not up to date with Dr Stone, I heard the manga ended but I have no idea what the ending was like. I saw the anime two or three years ago and I loved it, and I watched the second season but by that time my hyperfixation had passed and I didn't pay much attention. And I didn't read the manga for almost the same reason, I have a hard time paying attention when I read manga (I'm working on changing that because I like reading) and it was quite long so I haven't read it.

Everything I know is from the first season of the anime and a little from the second. If you have data that is not in these or is from the 2nd season that I probably no longer remember, please mention it.

Now, AROACE SENKU, thanks for offering to speak.

He's so aroace, and I mentioned that I think he's sex/romance-neutral, because well, he's indifferent to both things and having relationships, BUT, he's also disgusted by the idea (watch when he meets Kohaku). So I think he is neutral but a little repulsed, you know what I mean? Like he might get into a relationship for his own benefit, and he has done that, but not because of feelings or attraction. So my conclusion is that he is mostly romance-repulsed and sex-neutral, what do you think?

The truth is that I was very surprised when I tried to enter the Dr Stone fandom and what I found was that Senku was shipped with almost all the characters, I think that was one of the reasons why my hyperfixation on Dr Stone lasted so little. I mean, I wasn't against ships but it felt a little strange to ship the character who doesn't give a shit about romance with half the world. Above all, the ship that I liked the least (and I still don't like it) was Senku and Kohaku, because I am a big defender of man-woman friendships, and they radiated bestie energy for me. At that time I was already tired of seeing romance everywhere and I only wanted to see a platonic relationship, AND THEY WERE THAT, AND I FELT VERY IDENTIFIED WITH THEM BECAUSE THEY BOTH SHOWED REPULSION EVERY TIME THE OTHERS INSUINATED THAT THEY WERE A COUPLE, AND THAT'S EXACTLY HOW I FELT (for Hestia, looking back I wonder why it took me so long to realize/accept that I'm Aroace).

Now I can see Senku and Kohaku having a queerplatonic relationship for the convenience of both, but like they don't really have a romance they just have great affection for each other (Kohaku could be aroace too or be on the spectrum)
