i hope it's not too late for anonymous questions hour - talk to me about your ocs! any which ones you want! i notice you've been drawing a lot of cool robots lately. :)
Waugh!!!!! woot woot !!!! Okay I got a few minutes on my hands today
I've been really wanting to talk about an oldie which is a guy called Castiel! (awe fuck. oh shit. oh my god. He's not a robot sorry!)
I haven't drawn him since forever, but heres an old redraw i did of the 4 dabloon meme with him lmfao
His whole deal is that he's a piece of shit demon that was both too righteous for hell and too conceited for heaven, Only revealing his true nature after working under both god and satans wing for around uhh, 20 millenia or so? Gathering enough dirty gossip and important information that could jeopardise both of them. You see, instead of heaven and hell being their own seperate lands, they are instead workplaces- Endless mazes of office-filled buildings, one is just nicer! God and Satan can't answer all the oujia boards and the prayers all on their own, so they've assigned their angels and demons to do it for them. You see, Castiel here is horribly valued to both Satan AND God, after he got ahold of important "information" on both of them. Because of this he's earned a reputation of being INCREDIBLE at keeping a secret. And after he efficiently solved an economy crisis in the sea gods domain (it's like atlantis, but with crab and shrimp people. you get the deal.) he catches himself finding deities at his front door asking for favours, or lost demigods looking for an altar to commune with their godly parents. He's regarded as a sort of Big Brother figure to a majority of the people he comes across.... (As much as he hates this, forced family is an inevitable trope!)
His red skin is a side effect of his time in hell, and his pure white hair is a side effect of the whole sun-touched deal that the angels have up there, think rapuzel glowy stuff. He's got a magical suitcase that can store secrets and stories as well as favours, if you don't keep a promise, contract, deal, bargain, et cetera made to him, he'll let out the broken "Promise" In the form of a vengeful ghost!!!! going after you forever !!!!! raaaah !!!!!!!
Now, since God and Satan cannot pass into eachothers domains, and they don't want to constantly organise a date on when to pass Castiel between their corporates, they simply let him live a life on earth and stop by whenever they want. His house is just a regular suburban home lmfaoooo
Anyway, that's Castiel, my silly secrets dude :) a little fucked in the head but thats alright! I don't have any proper artwork besides from this (and considering his rp took place like 2 years ago) So I'm sorry I can't give more visuals of him lol
here are some fun-ish facts about him!
Castiel's got so many secrets under his belt that the people around him have made a habit of saying. "this is between me and Castiel." as a sort of play on the words "This is between me and god"
A sea god flooded his house with gold and saltwater one time after Castiel went on a "Date" with him (Castiel just needed to draw information out of him for a client)
He tried to romance a pretty flower nymph while drunk, and now he has an EXTREMELY bad petunia problem.
Has yoga sessions with some of his angel pals every sunday morning, yeah, like, the biblically accurate kind.
Accidentally disintegrated the mayor of a small town because he forgot his suitcase by a desk
British

So, when looking at the website and looking at the galleries, I found an old marker piece I had done of Swift Star, and seeing it was done about two years ago, I thought I'd try redrawing it, since my style has changed a bit since then. There was also the fact that I had to buy a new dark grey marker because I use dark grey for black and, well, I used up my old one, and I needed to, you know, test it. :P
Swift Star turned out well. The dark grey marker is a little stiffer than I'm used to, but it's fine. It does it's job. I sort of forgot it was a grey and ended up darkening it on Swift Star's pants before remembering, lol. But she looks fine! I like her. I even like the little light I gave her.
BUT THEN I got to thinking, since Swift Star turned out so nice, why not do others? So I did Matrix next, and he turned out great, so the next logical step is going ahead and doing the other two main characters, Dead Volt and Cosmic Moon.
The current behind Matrix is actually how I see the electrical currents that he sees - I have no idea why I see them as blue, but there you go. Dead Volt is holding a bubble of his power canceling power, although it's nothing actually visible. And lol, I accidentally inked the sword Cosmic Moon is holding rather than keep it lined with pencil to give it an intangible feeling like the others, but oh well. Her's is a bit more solid than the others, after all.
Over all, these were fun to do. I always forget how fun marker colored pieces are until I do a bunch of them, lol.

wassup wlws and treasured allies. heres the wilw redraw that i started/dropped back in august, freshly polished for @diakkoday :^)
elapsed time: 15 hours? 17?? i lost my sense of time in the lining process
(click on the images for higher quality!)
LOTS of notes and bonus art (including old drafts :o) under the cut!
most important business is up first! this is the last intensive lwa piece that i intend to produce for the foreseeable future. i burned myself out on drawing the girls way back in dianakko week, and then again last month.
while i (accidentally,,) paced myself for this one, i’m not quite feeling it anymore. i don’t know when i will be next, or frankly if at all. rebounding back into the fandom at all was a big quarantine induced surprise in itself. which is all to say- sorry if you were looking forward to more lwa from me :(
for the moment, i’m posting a whole lotta love live, personal pieces, and likely some other fandoms. please hang around for that if you’re interested!
NOTES:
i am aware that accidentally made diana’s face too ikemen >>; i intended to redraw it every time i popped open the doc, and forgot every single time.
i opted not to use a harsh lighting layer for this! just a gradient overlay (specific layer effect: add). i felt like hard lighting would take away from the cartoony vibe.
the lining took so long. every couple of weeks i’d just pop open the doc, slog through a couple lines, and close it indefinitely. i wanted so badly to not have to deal with the anatomy but we managed it ok bros
a lot of time was also dedicated to cleaning the lines. i’d taken so long to finish it that i figured i might as well make it just, way too polished
i wasn’t sure whether or not to keep the colored lines! i like the version with black lineart just about equally. colored lines feel more polished to me, but maybe it could use the extra contrast haha.
i was very tempted to change the color palettes- particularly in switching diana’s shirt to a blue, like i did with the face paint.
the last image is a reference to a meme that circulated back when the toh episode aired! i’d love to give credit to the original creator, but have completely lost track of it. if anyone recalls the link and can shoot it over that’d be very appreciated :)
lotte is a national treasure and i love her to bits
this is what the bg looks like! i rendered it just enough for it to look full with all the layers up. this was the quickest part of the process hands down- completed it start to finish in ~1.5 hours. because i rendered diakko+lotte in harsh solid lines and shading, i wanted the bg to be soft and fuzzy. ideally the contrast between the foreground and background coloring would be stronger, but i gave up trying to figure that out lol.
the og sketch!! when i was putting together this post, i did a handful of screencap redraws and saw what stuck.
more of those sketches! i liked how diana turned out :^) you can see that i still wasn’t sure how much of the toh style to integrate at this point!
figured i might as well stick the other sketches from diakko week in here as well! the latter two led to this and this respectively. i switched to diana not Doin Too Well with scary movies purely because i thought it was funnier lmao
and that’s it! thanks for reading through if you did. i thought about not doing this at all, but i find others’ artist notes really interesting and figured some of you might as well.

I would like to share with you my current sewing project!
So I have a desk chair. No clue where it actually came from, now that I think about it. Might be my dad or sister's old chair. It's been in my room for years, and... uh....
Let's just say it has served me well.
I'm a thrifty person, and I hate to buy new things when the things I have still work just fine. Plus my decorating aesthetic is best described as grandmacore, so a shiny new desk chair would clash with my vision.
So instead, I decided to totally overhaul my current chair by making a (very old fashioned looking) slipcover for it.
The first step of that was obviously to make a pattern. I achieved this by basically pinning pieces of old scrap fabric to the chair and outlining hypothetical pattern pieces, then stitching them together to see how they worked out. I don't have many pictures of the process, but here's what it looked like while I built the arm.
As you can see, I had to make a lot of alterations to the pieces by redrawing the edges and adding extra fabric on with pad stitches. That top arm piece was a real headache, because I got it in my head that I could draft the top as part that connects to the back of the seat as a curve. I could not. This caused a lot of headaches.
Once I had all of the pieces made and the prototype worked, it was just a matter of adding registration marks, cutting the seam allowances off, and tracing it all onto brown paper.
These were the fabric options I chose:
I ended up going with the one on the right, as modeled by Thursday:
So far all of my pattern pieces have been cut out and some have been seamed together, exciting! I'm using a backstitch by hand with cotton thread for the majority, though I've accidentally switched to a different coloured polyester thread at times (whoops) and I sewed the back plackets by machine. They look kinda shitty up close, thus reinforcing even more my "if you need it done well you do it yourself" mindset, lol. It's probably just me being out of practice, though.
Speaking of the back plackets, here they are all finished. I decided to use five of these gold buttons up the back to close it.
And of course the buttonholes are all worked by hand. They're not perfect, but I think they look good enough!
I will probably put up some updates on this project as it progresses, hopefully quickly!

OK, so in honour of my top posts now being me saying at various degrees of length that Arthur is gay (hashtag mylegacy, lmao…), I thought I should just go for it and actually dive in a bit a lot into why I read the character as gay. Now, usually all the justification I need to read a character as gay is “wouldn’t it be cool if this character I like/relate to/etc were gay like me?” and “it’s OK, officer, I do what I want”, and I’m well aware that 99% of the time it’s me using my own creativity to do a resistant reading + the film/book/whatever bumbling into subtext entirely by accident. And while I definitely don’t think there’s ever any more justification needed for any kind of LGBT reading, lol, as it comes to Arthur, obviously feel free to disagree with me, but I honestly think my read of him as a gay man is entirely textually supported, however unwitting and accidental that might have been on the part of the filmmakers (mind you, I don’t think it was Todd Phillips’ conscious intent, but I’m like… 85% sure Joaquin Phoenix knew exactly what he was doing).
(ETA that this is extremely long, so I’ve put it all under a cut.)
First of all, there’s of course… pretty much the entirety of Joaquin Phoenix’s performance (a very, very small sample can be found in my he gay son tag and just generally in my arthur fleck tag, ha), from his mannerisms to his physicality to the way he interacts with other characters. I know part of it is a function of wanting to go back to the character’s campy roots (which are themselves… you know…), and I know I’m relying on stereotypes to some extent, but first of all, you can’t divorce either camp or gender non-conformity from LGBT history and existence, and secondly this is literally how characters have been coded as gay throughout the entire history of cinema. What I’m saying here is that you can’t have a character who acts like Arthur does, literal limp wrist and all, or says “come on, Muuuurrrayyy, do I look like the kind of girl clown who could start a movement” the way he does, to pick one of many, many examples, and not evoke the long history of cinematic wink emojis at People Like Me.
That in itself would… honestly be plenty, lol, but it could be chalked up to, idk, Joaquin Phoenix doing his own thing, were it not for the fact that it’s completely reinforced at every turn by the filmmaking language, even down to his wardrobe choices, and it’s worth noting at this point that the framing is always one of empathy — albeit with nuance — and affording the character subjectivity, rather than being “ew, look at this gross [homophobic slur]”. Like, the very first time we see Arthur, literally our first impression of the character, he’s at a mirror, putting on make-up and then ruining it by crying, and while the make-up is of course part of his job, this is just not how the inner crises of straight male characters are expressed in the language of cinema. Of note too is the fact that he’s clearly visually separated from his co-workers in all the scenes at Ha-Ha’s, indicating his alienation from them, and while this could be chalked up purely to his disabilities, I don’t buy that that’s the only reason, given that Gary gets shit due to his dwarfism, sure, but at the end of the day he’s clearly “one of the boys” in a way Arthur (can’t be) isn’t.
There are honestly so many examples of the framing working to separate Arthur from conventional masculinity and heterosexuality that I’m just going to pick some highlights, such as: obviously, the way he expresses himself emotionally through dancing (to the point that one of his coworkers explicitly ribs him about it, “if your dancing doesn’t do the trick”), which again is not something that straight male characters do in the language of cinema. The fact that all the media we see him consume is musicals, classic comedies and a talk show he’s obsessively fannish about and watches with his mother — and we know he’s a fan of the show as a whole, not just Murray, hence him saying “I love Dr Sally” (and the way he says it…). Or, speaking of his media habits, when he’s dancing with the gun while watching Shall We Dance, this could have so, so easily been about him ~regaining his lost masculinity~ through, say, fantasies of revenge or badassery, but instead it’s about him being acknowledged as a great dancer and punishing bad dancers, and it all ends in slapstick anyway.
Also, while I’m on this topic, I want to address the nature of Arthur’s dissociative fantasies about Sophie. Honestly, I don’t read them as indicative of genuine romantic/sexual interest at all, because the film frames them as identical to Arthur’s more deliberate daydreams about Murray. I mean, not that I’m adverse to gay readings of that if that’s what you want to do, lmao, but to me they’re both very clearly post-traumatic fantasies of having another person look after you for once, of having someone value and cherish you and take care of you emotionally (which obviously has massive appeal if you’ve been dealing with the after-effects of catastrophic trauma all your life but nobody has given a shit about your suffering and you’ve had to be the one to look after other people to boot). Note that after the get-together with Sophie — which is clearly patterned after all those old comedies and musicals Arthur watches — the Sophie fantasies are incredibly platonic and involve things like having another person be there for you in a crisis, telling you something supportive, getting you a hot drink (in contrast with the reality of the hospital scene, in which Arthur is alone and he’s the one trying to comfort someone else, i.e., holding Penny’s hand), essentially no different from fantasy!Murray hugging Arthur and knowing exactly what to say to make him feel good about himself. Also note that both fantasies involve being the object of someone else’s affection, Murray picks Arthur out of the audience and Sophie comes to him, it’s a pillow princess Cinderella fantasy, more than someone loving you it’s about being loved. (And, once more, this could easily have all been v. v. different, the Murray fantasy could have been the much more conventionally masculine fantasy of being a famous comedian and being invited on Murray’s show, the Sophie fantasies could have had an undeniable sexual component, etc.)
Anyway, to get back to the general point of cinematic framing, again if the movie didn’t want me to read Artie as gay, it shouldn’t have had a pivotal moment in his character arc be him sitting at his mother’s vanity table, doing a new make-up look which involves using her lipstick, and then having a Moment while he’s literally holding a quasi-glamour shot of her.
And the thing is, all these reams of stuff aren’t even the key piece of the puzzle for me, which is the way in which the film as a whole can be read as a gay narrative. I’ve posted before about how part of the emotional catharsis of the film is about Arthur finally shamelessly embracing and even revelling in all his freakishness and socially-despised traits, a big one of which being what is arguably his effeminacy and… honestly I don’t need to explain how that’s a classic gay (and more generally LGBT) narrative, do I? Like, there’s a reason why a pivotal scene is Arthur having his hair-dyeing underwear rave in a flat that’s suddenly incredibly bright and sunny for the first time, it’s about reclaiming the pain and ugliness of your life and your circumstances into a space of potential liberation, which is honestly why this movie is always going to be incredibly personally meaningful to me for so many reasons, but definitely meaningful to me as a gay woman. (Again, this could so, so easily have been about him becoming some stone-cold badass or whatever, but instead the film has him dye his hair, put on a super garish new outfit and new make-up look, dance shamelessly in the street, and be incredibly campy on national television.)
More generally, there’s other aspects of the narrative arc that tie into this general theme and which also serve to continually distance Arthur from the conventional cinematic narratives of heterosexual manhood: for instance, once he starts fully embracing the Joker persona — which is… just Arthur, the crucial difference is in how others perceive him and how he perceives himself — any attraction to women, feigned or real, goes completely out the window and the only genuinely affectionate interaction he has with another human being is with Gary (I know we all love to joke about his first kiss being with Dr Sally, but it’s obviously Comedy Jokes and he doesn’t even kiss her for real, his make-up is completely intact; Arthur’s only real kiss in the movie is when he kisses Gary). Or, when Arthur’s personal narrative finally intersects completely with the larger social narrative — which is itself about upheaval, reclamation and potential liberation — the big triumphant moment is him once again dancing, this time for a cheering crowd, and using blood like lipstick to redraw his smile.
Or even, to a lesser extent, his whole sub-plot with his mother, before I watched the film I was worried that this was going to be the usual narrative about the henpecked guy who finally puts the bitch in her place as part of becoming a Real Man, and it’s not at all, quite the opposite, Arthur is not henpecked and is clearly in charge of the household, he genuinely loves Penny — and is confident she loves him back — and enjoys doing at least some things with her (them watching the Murray Franklin Show together), and up until the reveal any issues he has with her are largely the product of having to look after an ill person with zero social support and while working a physically and emotionally demanding job and dealing with his own disabilities. When he kills her, it’s a deeply sad and self-destructive scene and it’s the result of his profound anguish and sense of betrayal and he frames it as the bitter, trauma-haunted dark half of self-actualisation and self-acceptance (“that’s the real me”, “I haven’t been happy one minute of my entire fucking life”, “now I realise… it’s a fucking comedy”).
Or, at a more meta-textual level, the way the film is unabashedly both a pulpy thriller and a melodrama, just shamelessly embracing all its emotions, its pain and catharsis, without a trace of irony. Like, yeah, part of this is the immense sincerity and compassion Joaquin Phoenix brings to his performance, but it really is the movie’s approach as a whole, and when there is humour — and I do think there’s quite a lot of humour in the movie — it’s not the distancing, let’s-not-feel-anything-too-deeply-bro humour of your typical MCU movie, it’s the camp sensibility of laughing with and at your own tragedy. (Myriad examples down to the use of certain songs in the soundtrack.)
On a final note, you guys know how much I don’t care about authorial intent, but I feel compelled to point out that in his director’s commentary, Todd Phillips says, while discussing Arthur’s journey into becoming Joker, that he reads the larger pop-cultural character of the Joker as someone who doesn’t want women, and like… Again, it’s not like I think that he was deliberately making a gay narrative in any way, it’s just that if you’re creating this journey of a man who eventually becomes a character who’s not interested in women in that sense, you’ve also just ended up stumbling into a gay narrative accidentally on purpose, lmao, what’s the real difference between “at the end of the story, Arthur doesn’t want women because he’s ~da Joker now, baby, he doesn’t want anything~” and “at the end of the story, Arthur doesn’t want women because he’s gay and he’s no longer deeply repressed and closeted”?
Anyway, like I said, feel free to disagree, he’s a fictional character, lol, but this is where I’m coming from, and the reason why if everyone involved in the movie decided to make a statement tomorrow about how much Arthur Fleck wants to bone women I’d just say “shit, idc, I’m afraid you made a gay movie about Arthur Fleck, a gay man, it’s a little too late to retcon this bitch now ¯\_(ツ)_/¯”. Also this is over 2,000 words long what the fuck I am so sorry
#long post#joker 2019#class struggle clown movie#arthur fleck#dive down into chuckletown#he gay son#now in the form of 95 theses nailed to my tumblr#gonna make a letterboxd list called 'the author is dead this is lgbt cinema now'

the egos as different (new who) incarnations of the Doctor: revisted
(havent written an analysis type of thing in a while, miss sharing ideas with people in general aha :’D)
originally 2am thoughts/concepts that i might draw aka revisiting the concept of the egos as different regenerations of the doctor (debate and additions are welcome):
schneeplestein- nine
(first regeneration after the time war and as such major guilt and lonliness from being the sole survivor who also had to be the one to end it. this paralleling to schneep’s 9 month disappearance and his possible guilt resulting from the events of say goodbye and moreso kill jse (as well as schneep probably doing risky things in the name of stopping anti). other things including, sass, calling humans “stupid apes”, rational, angry sometimes, but can appreciate the ancient human music that is tainted love, saving their friend/companion and telling them to live a good life as they head off to face their longtime enemy, the pain you see on his face when he gets compared to said enemy (”you would make a good puppet dalek), bananas being good source of potassium)
chase- ten
(is kind of a mess but a cool mess, generally the most emotional/human of the incarnations, starts off as a cool, charismatic type of guy but slowly goes downward into a spiral of sadness and lonliness as everyone he loved leaves (ya see the connection im getting at?), loses the girl he loved and missing the chance to tell her he loved her, ”im fine” he says as he just lost his best friend and is now alone standing in the pouring rain, accidentally quoting the lion king and harry potter but also “no second chances im that kind of man,” loves little shops and making things that go ding and silly made up words like “wibbly wobbly timey wimey”, literally Human Nature/Family of Blood shows how much he wanted a human life with a wife and kids and the episode "the doctor's daughter" where he finally gets a kid and loses her, the hero who goes from saving the universe with all his friends around him to him dying alone not wanting to go, literally called “the man that regrets” in dotd, listen to love don't roam on YouTube)
jj- eleven
(the doctor with the most confusing timeline, child-like wonder and the look of a young lad hiding the tired eyes of an old man who has seen and gone through so much, very protective of his fond family/people he loves, he literally snuck into a charlie chaplin film in s6′s immpossible astronaut, also stayed in Victorian london for a time which would be jj's aesthetic tbh, can be silly and clumsy and starry-eyed while also being capable of becoming the oncoming storm, “ Good men don't need rules, today is not the day to find out why i have so many.”, great with kids, like weird/unique hatwear, b o w t i e s, g o g g l e s, just wants to go home even if it’s the long way round, “every lonely monster needs a companion” (you can’t tell me jj probably would still feel like a monster cos of how closely related he is to anti), and also theres puppets in two episodes of his, despite the darkness and loneliness it just made him kind, the optimist, the hoper of far flung hopes and the dreamer of improbable dreams )
marvin- twelve
(recognizing gender as a concept far beyond them obvs, he’s literally called a magician half the time lol, avoiding death by rocking out in the 1500s with an electric guitar on top of an army tank, “can you hurry up before i hit you with my shoe”, as a morally gray character that many theorize whether he’s good/bad, marvin relates well to twelve’s whole journey of questioning if he was a good man and willing to learn the extents of what that means, tried his best to not only do right but to try to help those who weren’t good people who he knew needed help, would fight robin hood irl with a spoon and have a sign saying “go away humans”, not totally great with social cues but he tries and that’s what counts, seemingly cold and harsh and grump but take time to know him and he’s actually warm deep down, "do you think i care for you so little that betraying me would make a difference?", wiliing to "go to hell" for their friend, not only protective of the people he loves but is also willing to to things like repeatedly die over 8 billion years and almost cause the destruction of the universe for the sake of saving his friend, would sacrifice himself recklessly in the name of standing up for what he believed in)
jackieboy man-thirteen
(total ray of sunshine who also recognizes the dangers of being close to them (i.e. dying, forgetting, getting trapped in another time or parallel world, getting converted and dying, etc) and as such keeps those they love at a distance, literally not talking about who they truly were for a whole series cos they didn't want to wrap their family up into their own troubles they faced, adorably socially awkward/anxious but still perseveres in the face of danger and certain doom, "darkness never sustains, even though sometimes it feels like it might," would build their own gadgets, g o g g l e s, would eat dirt and bone dust for analysis, would save the day by becoming best friends with a sentient universe in the form of a frog, always tries to have a flat team structure but in reality "this team structure...it isn't flat. It's mountainous, with me, in the stratosphere, alone, left to choose. Save jack the poet, save the universe. Sometimes, even i can't win.", P U N S)
Bonus content: anti as sacha Dawhan's master
like *chefs kiss* (LITERALLY pretended to be the doctor's friend for years until revealing he actually killed him before she met him and took his place (that gif is him just throwing away that dude's minituraized dead body btw), the kneel scene, his s m i l e, maniacal g l e e as he destroys everything and kills people all to cover up the pain and sadness and anger he feels inside because of her *cough a piece of SPOILER being inside him and him not being able to stand it is definitely anti/jack vibes cough*, also imagine this small exchange but between jackieboy man and anti:
The doctor: "proud of yourself?"
The master: "Definitely."
The doctor: "all this death...Finally made you happy?"
The Master, smiling: "Ecstatic."
The doctor, closer to his face: "And has it calmed all the rage?"
The master, pausing and looking away: "...I don't think anything will ever do that."
Also pls watch that spyfall pt1 reveal scene (basically the whole ending tbh), again it's just *chef's kiss*
Ok that's enough blabbering from me. Still debating on drawing the egos as the doctor (ooh maybe a screen cap redraw would be fun if some people have suggestions for an ep to ref for each one (granted who knows if I'd have time to draw them all but I'm curious anyway lol)) ok time to head out *yeets*.

Weekly Wrambles #2
Shut up, I didn’t miss a week. YOU SAW NOTHING.
Okay yeah I missed a week.
Part of what’s... happened to me in the past year is the development of chronic fatigue and pain. We’re thinking (meaning me, my family, and my physician) that I’ve always had elements of pain and fatigue in my life, given how much stress my body’s been under since basically forever, but in the past year/year and half it’s gonna from being a minor feature to a constant one.
Last week was no exception -as was this week. I was so wracked by fatigue and pain that I couldn’t get much of anything done.
It just... sucks.
But, even in spite of the pain and fatigue, I did manage to get a couple things done that I can share with y’all.
I finished the picture of Lola -and then accidentally creased it when moving my sketchbook, and then I cried lol.
I’m actually really proud of this one. I’ve been working on incorporating more textures and backgrounds into my drawing, instead of just doing floating heads with nothing behind them. I think she looks adorable!
And speaking of floating heads with nothing behind them-
Meet Zyra.
I -like everyone else in the US it would seem-have been watching Avatar: The Last Airbender again... which reignited my massive crush on Zuko and dredged up one of my old OCs that I’d made to pair with him. I decided to redraw her, and in the process I realized that my current art style was significantly impacted by this show. I’ve always tried to push more towards realism, but my style has always stubbornly held onto aspects of cartoon/illustrative styles. Lately, I’ve decided to embrace it (especially since the realism I like takes much bigger canvas/pieces of paper than I have access to).
Pay no mind to the vast differences to how each doodle was colored in; I was playing with different markers and ways of shading.
Also, I got some art sent to me!
The wonderful @tryingjoe (idk why tumblr isn’t letting me tag you but such is tumblr) sent me these prints of her fanart inspired by my CHC series! I think they’re so adorable, and I can’t wait to have them hanging in my workspace!
And speaking of workspace...
My fiance and I are buying a house. :D
I’ll post some pictures once it’s ours, but if I’m not as active over the next few weeks, that’s why.
This concludes this week’s wramble... bye sdlfjlkdsjf.
