#absolutely love when Taliesin chooses violence

Hmm… because I’m curious and wish to encourage violence… 13 and 23.
13. worst blorboficiation
Man, this is a toss up between Molly and Essek.
Molly was not a good person. Molly was unaligned and dipped into callousness. I truly mean that, Molly was cruel at times. Molly’s first instinct was to resort to violence to snap Caleb out of a stupor, even though it was followed up by a forehead kiss that most of his fans romanticize. He wanted to abandon Kiri as quickly as possible. He didn’t want to help the Schuester kids in Hupperdook until Fjord piped up that it was personal to him. Like, I eventually came around to liking Molly because that is a very daring character choice by Taliesin. Molly was a problematic queer, not because his queerness had anything to do with his bad traits, but because he wasn’t a saint, and that took guts to portray queer characters in a negative light given this audience. Then Molly got martyred and all that complexity was ignored. Now he’s just a soft blorbo.
Essek also isn’t a soft cushy boy. He did not care who got killed or hurt as long as he could do the research he wanted to. He did not care for anyone but himself. Those were choices. He didn’t hesitate to hurt or kill people, he just got nervous when he realized he was in situations where opponents could strike back. He cowered when he realized he was vulnerable. It took time for him to choose to take risks like that, to trust people when he wasn’t trusted, and he grew because of it. But a lot of shadowgast fans insist that Essek fell in love with Caleb during the stream or even immediately upon meeting, which, like, no. I think Essek was clearly hoping for friendship from Caleb and the Nein by E141, but I don’t think that had developed into anything romantic or sexual by then. But most portrayals of Essek are nervous, demure, and shy without the cutting, dry sarcasm that I love.
23. ship you've unwillingly come around to
Widomauk and Shadowidomauk. I know that’s surprising given the above answers, but here goes:
Generally, I am not much of a shipper. I tend to crackship for the lolz, especially when the ship is guaranteed to crash and burn. I am a fan of conflict. Because of that, those two ships didn’t appeal to me because most fan writers and artists tend to depict them as very soft, domestic, tame, etc. That’s not a dig on other people who enjoy that, it just doesn’t appeal to me all that much.
Then I learned the evil AU versions exist, and it hit me: they don’t even have to be in an evil AU to butt heads. They absolutely would have some conflict built in because of how Caleb’s background collides against Molly’s worldview and Essek’s hangups. There is so much potential for explosive drama and pain. THEY COULD BE TERRIBLE FOR EACH OTHER.
And sure, you could have them kiss and make up after, but I want the conflict first.
Choose violence ask game.

CHOOSE VIOLENCE!!! 7, 8, 10
choosing violence!!
7. what character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because how how the fandom acts about them?
ok this is going to be a weird one but. fjord.
TO BE CLEAR i fucking love fjord and i think his arc is one of my favorites but there came a point sometime after he'd sort of settled into being a cleric of the wildmother when a certain meta writer--who i respect very much, they seem very smart--started to make meta posts after each episodes where i was nodding along enthusiastically, ready for them to draw me into the conclusion....where they inevitably went "which is why this was all about fjord and his journey."
i got...so...sick of this, especially as the story focused more on caleb and then on beau and yasha. and this person's meta is super popular, so i saw it EVERYWHERE even after i unfollowed. i just wanted to scream "not everything is about your blorbo oh my god". and i started to roll my eyes any time fjord said anything before i was like wait. what. i like fjord. and i realized it was just dread at the anticipation of looooong metas that were Just About Fjord.
in retrospect this is totally on me, i should've just blocked them, but their only crime was being slightly annoying so i chickened out.
8. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about
that jester is innocent and clueless, especially wrt sex. it is absolutely incredible to me how many people completely forget that she was given a pretty thorough private education and oh yeah that her mom is a sex worker?? who's VERY frank with her?
no--jester is inexperienced. jester is that one friend you know who has kinks you've never heard of and reads piles of smut and has never had sex. she knows Exactly what goes on, she just has very unrealistic ideas about the possibility of being railed by the pizza delivery man.
bringing me to my final point: why don't more people do an aspec or arospec of jester?? it's RIGHT there
10. worst part of fanon
i'm so incredibly bored by "and then they were happily into peaceful cottagecore domesticity for the rest of their days" type shipping (with ONE exception), espeeeecially with queer ships. y'all think yasha "i'll throw you under a bridge" nydoorin is gonna be a quiet, settled housewife with her adhd, violence prone, poison immune wife? caleb "i want to bend reality to my will" and essek literally started a war thelyss are going to find a nice place in rexxentrum and settle down? with KIDS? (i find it impossible to believe shadowgast would want kids. i Get the impulse and i will never yuck anyone's yum but i personally find it incredibly out of character). (conversely, i do find ridiculously sweet/cutesy/fluffy shipping of these characters to be generally kind of funny but really endearing. it's just the "settling down" bit--like. i just can't believe these guys would ever sit still.)
my one exception is of course percahlia, in part because their cottage is less a cottage and more local government, and more relevantly because i think the two of them getting a quiet comfortable existence is actually sort of a radical idea. "i was going to be a clockmaker once" just fucking kills me. for a character to be, as taliesin put it, karmically fated to have a bad ending, to get the typical fairy tale happily ever after treatment...for vex to gain both wealth and importance...it just feels right.
thanks tangereen :)

Talks Machina Summary, Episode 64
Next Monday, there is a one off episode of Between the Sheets with Ashley Johnson.
The My Little Pony one shot airs this Friday and is, apparently, a delight.
Taliesin and Matt make prolonged eye contact.
“At the end of the day" was a phrase that was used eleven times in this episode.
Laura held Jester’s astonished look for fifteen seconds.
Critical Role has now aired over eight hundred hours between the core series and official one shots.
Matt described running the one shot for Stephen Colbert as “absolutely surreal.” Both of them enjoyed it immensely.
The community raised over a hundred thousand dollars to help fight child poverty for Red Nose Day. Good job, critters!
Cad is taking a very Mary Poppins approach to teaching the M9 they don’t always need to use violence by leading by example.
Matt said “that’s rough buddy” to Taliesin when trying to figure out what to do after Molly. That partially inspired Cad’s character.
Matt was surprised at how well the deception worked when using speak with dead. He planned to hold onto some of that information for a little longer.
Taliesin imagines that the Clay family has used that method of interrogation with a dead person before in order to gather information for their loved ones.
The DC to find out about Charis was about 27 or 28.
Dani’s next character is a sage ranger who is an archeologist.
Cad was putting on an act when talking to the corpse. However, we also haven’t seen every side of Caduceus quite yet.
Matt wasn't expecting the M9 to choose to go through the most dangerous path with so little deliberation.
The gang discusses Fjord’s identity issues and how he acts as both an agent of chaos and order.
Cad’s near-death experience left in with a skewed ability to assess risks, hence his lack of resistance going into a desecrated and dangerous place.
Matt is fascinated by the sorrowsworn and how their design is based on human emotions. He expected to freak out Travis, but not basically everyone else at the table.
Taliesin (and, by extension, Cad) doesn’t really know what to make of otherworldly creatures. He was frightened when Caleb went unconscious, but he was also unnerved by the fact that these creatures weren’t the undead that he expected.
Matt studied a lot of D&D monster lore when worldbuilding for Xhorhas. He wanted to reinvent a lot of those elements and develop a society that would be unexpected. A big question was how would these people live if they were not tied to evil demons/gods.
Matt figured that the M9 had given up the dodecahedron when they let the drow go in the sewers. Obviously, that was not the case.
Taliesin was not prepared for Jester to use Vex’s voice.
Taliesin imagined that, at one point, Cad and a few of his sibling lifted another sibling out of their bed and moved them into a tree by the temple in the middle of the night.
Matt hasn’t had any problems coming up with new encounters. If it’s not in the book, he’ll just make it up. He made a thing called a dragon engine once that made a disease that turned dragons into crystals. The essence of dragons was holding together this world, so it was slowly destroying the world as more dragons died. His inspiration for the design was from the game Darkstalkers (the Fetus of God boss). He made it for four dollars worth of cheap supplies.
Cad is not measuring his success by measuring his distance. If he needs to stay put to accomplish his goals, then that is what he’ll do.
Matt’s idea for dunamacy came to him before he ever learned about Caleb’s character. It wasn’t tailored for Caleb, but it fit very well into the narrative.
Cad has no stakes in the Empire vs Xhorhas war. At best, he dislikes the Empire, but doesn’t have the intelligence to grasp complicated political concepts.
Matt came up with Shakäste’s location on the spot.

Portland's mayor took a stand against hate, but the ACLU is pushing back. Here's why.
[ad_1]
You won't be able to defeat despise with censorship, but that doesn't mean it has to acquire.
On May possibly 26, 35-calendar year-old Jeremy Joseph Christian allegedly stabbed a few men on board a Portland light-rail teach right after they attempted to intervene on behalf of a Muslim lady who Christian was verbally harassing.
Two of individuals men, Taliesin Myrddin Namkai-Meche and Ricky Best, died when a 3rd, Micah Fletcher, survived.

Three days right after the incident, Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler weighed in with an crucial message for his town.
In the message, posted to his Facebook site, Wheeler calls on the federal government to revoke the permit granted to an "alt-ideal" group hosting an party in Portland's Shrunk Plaza in June.
He also appeals to the organizers of the white supremacist group to cancel the planned demonstration. "There is never ever a position for bigotry or hatred in our group, and specially not now," Wheeler wrote.
"I am contacting on every single elected chief in Oregon, every single authorized agency, every single stage of regulation enforcement to stand with me in blocking one more tragedy."
Here's the full text of Wheeler's write-up:
"On Friday a few men Rick Best, Taliesin Myrddin Namkai-Meche, and Micah Fletcher stood up towards bigotry and hatred. Two paid out with their lives. A 3rd was very seriously injured.
Our group remains in shock and mourning. But we are also enormously grateful to our heroes and their family members for their selflessness and heroism. They will serve to inspire us to be the loving, courageous people today we are intended to be.
As Mayor, I required to update you on a couple developments:
1) I have attained out to all of the victims and their family members, which include the two women of all ages who have been terrorized and subjected to this sort of hatred and bigotry. I have offered my unconditional guidance and guidance, day or night.
2) I have confirmed that the Town of Portland has NOT and will not situation any permits for the alt ideal activities scheduled on June 4th or June 10th. The Federal government controls permitting for Shrunk Plaza, and it is my knowledge that they have issued a permit for the party on June 4th."
three) I am contacting on the federal government to Promptly REVOKE the permit(s) they have issued for the June 4th party and to not situation a permit for June 10th. Our Town is in mourning, our community’s anger is true, and the timing and matter of these activities can only exacerbate an already challenging predicament.
four) I am interesting to the organizers of the alt-ideal demonstrations to Terminate the activities they have scheduled on June 4th and June 10th. I urge them to request their supporters to continue to be away from Portland. There is never ever a position for bigotry or hatred in our group, and specially not now.
five) I am contacting on every single elected chief in Oregon, every single authorized agency, every single stage of regulation enforcement to stand with me in blocking one more tragedy.
six) When and if the time is ideal for them, I would like to function with the family members to come across an correct way to completely keep in mind their sacrifice and honor their braveness. Their heroism is now component of the legacy of this good town and I want long run generations to keep in mind what took place in this article, and why, so that it may possibly serve to equally eradicate hatred and inspire long run generations to stand up for the ideal values like Rick, Taliesin, and Micah did past 7 days."
The ACLU of Oregon, even so, doesn't agree with Wheeler, declaring that what he recommended is a form of censorship.
In a reaction on their have Facebook site, the firm explained (emphasis added):
"Our hearts are damaged, but government censorship is not the respond to. The government cannot revoke or deny a permit based on the viewpoint of the demonstrators. Interval.
It may perhaps be tempting to shut down speech we disagree with, but at the time we enable the government to choose what we can say, see, or listen to, or who we can assemble with, heritage demonstrates us that the most marginalized will be disproportionately censored and punished for unpopular speech.
We are all no cost to reject and protest suggestions we you should not agree with. That is a main, fundamental freedom of the United States. If we enable the government to shut down speech for some, we all will shell out the selling price down the line. We need to protect the Structure, even when it is unpleasant.
If the government has concrete proof of an imminent menace they can and should deal with it without the need of proscribing Initial Modification rights of other people."
The factor is ... equally Wheeler and the ACLU of Oregon are ideal in distinctive strategies.
So where does that leave us?
At his arraignment, Christian shouted, "Absolutely free speech or die. Get out if you you should not like no cost speech ... you simply call it terrorism, I simply call it patriotism ... die." Image by Beth Nakamura/The Oregonian/OregonLive.
Like a ton of matters in life, it's a little bit nuanced.
Right before you hop on #TeamTed or #TeamACLU, it's crucial to admit that fairly substantially everyone involved in this has very good intentions, is disgusted by Christian's actions, and doesn't want just about anything like it to come about ever all over again.
On just one hand, you can absolutely see where Wheeler is coming from. With tensions functioning high and the truth that Christian had just a short while ago attended a comparable rally, it helps make ideal perception that his impulse would be to shut down approaching rallies for worry of provoking or inspiring one more assault. With the town even now mourning this reduction, it's easy to understand that he'd look for strategies to de-escalate the predicament even so he can and send out a strong message towards despise and bigotry.
On the other, the ACLU is entirely ideal when it states the government won't be able to just revoke permits due to the fact of someone's political views. Responding to a comment on Facebook, the firm recommended that the mayor just take a additional calculated tactic that doesn't violate the Structure by speaking to the groups organizing to hold rallies and asking them to reschedule in light of the latest assault. The groups you should not have to, but without the need of outlining why these rallies pose an imminent menace, that is about all Wheeler can lawfully do.
Liberty of speech, even so, does not mean speech without the need of effects.
There are moments when regulation enforcement can and should intervene to stop speech from turning into action. For this, let us look at how the ACLU responded to the 2011 shooting exterior the business office of then-Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords (emphasis added):
"It is crucial to keep in mind that when the Initial Modification thoroughly guards our liberty to converse freely other than in the most circumscribed situations, it is not a barrier to effective regulation enforcement towards individuals moderately considered to be involved in illegal action. ... In moments like these, it is organic to look for strategies to quell our horror and worry. But it is when people today feel most susceptible that our liberties are most at hazard. Unraveling the ideas that form the main of our democracy is not the respond to."
No make a difference what someone's individual politics are, no make a difference what group they belong to, it's crucial that they're afforded that critical ideal to freedom of speech. Even so, in heated moments with heated rhetoric, we — and regulation enforcement companies — have a duty to stop that speech from boiling more than into actual physical violence.
If the groups guiding individuals approaching "alt-ideal" demonstrations want to act in very good faith, then yeah, perhaps they should imagine about canceling their demonstration in light of latest activities. Up right up until Jeremy Christian pulled out a knife, he sounded just like them. To display that they do not condone his actions — and not hazard becoming observed as "moderately considered to be involved in illegal action" and held liable should one more assault come about — canceling may possibly be in their very best interest to maintain their freedom of speech.
Regardless of whether or not these demonstrations come about, it's on the relaxation of us to not allow an ideology of despise acquire out.
We can look to the brave men who misplaced their lives to this senseless violence as an inspiration to recommit to hunting out for just one one more and standing up towards despise. That may possibly just be the very best way to honor their reminiscences.
