I haven’t seen any AAW in quite some time (I think the last show I watched was Killers Among Us), so this show was the perfect one to get me back into things. It was a really fun card, with nothing approaching a bad match and a whole lot of really good action. Everything on here was enjoyable in its own way, and had the usual white hot Chicago crowd, but my favourite of the night had to be the Heritage Title match between Penta and DJZ. This was just a crazy, 10 minute sprint that, despite its unhinged nature, actually told a good story; DJZ hit a huge dive on Penta as he was making his entrance, and just kept going for risks in an attempt to beat the unbeatable man with Zero Fear. Now, had this gone any longer the 10:12 it did go, it would have been preposterous given what they were doing out there (which included Ion hitting a balcony dive), and for what it was, I thought it was perfect. DJZ dethroned Penta after a springboard DDT off the middle rope as the place went crazy. Also of note was ACH slapping the shit out of the fundamentally loathsome Sammy Guevara en route to victory in a great little hard-hitting and high-flying match, Shane Strickland's win over the debuting Fred Yehi in a very good wrestling contest, the Crist brothers victory in the opener over Wolf and Miguel was admittedly just a series of big moves, but in many ways the perfect opener, and the main event in which AAW Champ Fenix, Thunder Fire Drivered his way to victory over the returning Jimmy Jacobs in another great outing. All in all, I’d say this show is well worth a look if you get the chance.
