7 haunted houses across America you should definitely visit this Halloween
Tumblr media
There's nothing more fun, or more terrifying, than running down a dark hallway with a menacing clown hot on your tail.
It's officially the Halloween season and possibly the only time of the year when you're brave enough to come face-to-face with a little (totally safe) terror.

We're talking, of course, about haunted houses.
If you don't mind a few bumps in the night, here's a list of some of the scariest haunted house attractions in America you should definitely visit this year.
1. Netherworld, Norcross, Georgia
This Georgia-based attraction will leave you with nightmares until the end of your days. OK, probably not, but this haunt might really freak you out with its dedicated cast of actors, horrifying monsters, and its incredibly detailed special effects.
2. Basement of the Dead, Aurora, Illinois
Voted #1 in the Chicago area, Basement of the Dead actually brings the dead to life with its disturbing sets and props. It's one of the most popular houses in the state of Illinois, and after watching the video, we can certainly see why.
3. 13th Floor, Denver, Colorado
Have you ever found yourself on an elevator in a building and wondered why it always skips the 13th floor? Turns out it's typically linked to superstition. Entering this frightful franchised haunt forces visitors to come face-to-face with bad luck. We hope you like clowns.
4. Fright Factory, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
This adult-only haunted house could surely bring a grown man to tears. Once you've entered this haunt, there's no turning back. This year the Fright Factory experts added three new attractions to its setup. In the Industrial Nightmare, a surveillance camera records your every move, while menacing dentists and clowns roam the halls of the Silent Scream Asylum. And if you're deathly afraid of insects, you might want to stay far away from Fright Factory Unearthed.
5. The Darkness, St. Louis, Missouri
We've all been afraid of the dark at one point in our lives but this haunted attraction takes nyctophobia to a whole new level. The Darkness features five attractions. After braving the haunted house, you can go head-to-head with your pals in zombie laser tag, try your luck in one of the attraction's escape rooms, or try the creepy Terror Visions 3D.
6. Terror Behind The Walls at Eastern State Penitentiary, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
If you don't enjoy people touching you, you better stay far away from this "abandoned" prison. Located in the old Eastern State Penitentiary, there are six creepy attractions to choose from. Hold on tight to your friends because you could be separated at any moment.
7. Kersey Valley Spookywoods, Archdale, North Carolina
When you're alone in the woods with nothing but a small flashlight and an even smaller amount of courage, things start to get real. According to its Facebook page, Spookywoods was founded on a dare by a few teenagers in 1985 who decided to take a trip to an abandoned farm house. Since then, founder Tony Wohlgemuth turned the deserted area into the attraction is it today. But be careful: there are a ton of spooky elements to watch out for.
