An Ootori Family Christmas
Part one. Merry Christmas.
“Your grandmother is going to a Christmas banquet in Tokyo, so we've been invited to spend Christmas with the Ootoris.”
Tamaki glanced up from his online shopping, seeing the excitement on his father's face. Of course, Tamaki mirrored it: Christmas with his best friend? Obviously he was on board with that! He wondered how the Ootoris spent Christmas- Tamaki's Christmas last year had been rather disappointing. He wondered if they'd get kfc- no, they were a medical family, they probably ate healthier food than that. He beamed at his father, expressing his approval, “that sounds brilliant! Are we just going for dinner or?”
“We'll actually be staying over,” his father Yuzuru, explained, “we'll show up for dinner on Christmas eve, then we'll leave after lunch on boxing day. How does that sound?”
Doing the math in his head, Tamaki realised that was just over two days with Kyoya. He was so excited, and it must have shown on his face, as his father's expression fell into one of concern as he warned: “it's not going to be just Kyoya and his father, you know that right?”
“Oh I've met Kyoya's older siblings, I know-”
Yuzuru interrupted, shaking his head, “you absolutely don't know. It's not just his siblings, Tamaki, it's the whole damn tribe. Do you have any idea how many people are in that family?”
Tamaki…did not know. Although, the fact that his father had referred to it as a tribe gave him the idea he was probably lowballing no matter what he guessed, but he guessed anyway. “Uh…7?”
Laughing, his father was laughing, he shook his head. “A really good guess, but try eleven. That's just how many are going, Kyoya's grandmother also won't be attending but for the love of god, Tamaki do not mention it.”
Eleven people…Tamaki had never considered the idea of the Ootori mansion needing that many bedrooms before…and with him and his father, the mansion didn't even have enough- people would have to double up. They were millionaires and would have to double up. What the actual hell…
“Wow…” was all Tamaki could really get out, hands still hovering over his keyboard, he'd been ordering gifts for his friends, and had just put an order in for a gilded coupon book, custom made, for Haruhi. It definitely cost more than the coupons would…do coupons cost money? Tamaki wasn't sure.
Yuzuru nodded, beginning to pace. “If we're going to make this a good Christmas, you need to know how to survive an event with every single Ootori. Let's go oldest to youngest, shall we?”
Nodding, Tamaki just opened a document on his laptop, ready to take notes, although well aware he was terrible about it and would end up just relying on Kyoya like usual.
“Alright,” Yuzuru began, “the oldest is Kyoya's uncle, Yuuma Ootori.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He had found himself sat on the sofa, besides a tall man who looked a lot like Kyoya's brother Yuuichi, but older, with facial hair, and muscles. He seemed to be the only Ootori with muscles, and had a small…a tattoo?? On his wrist. It was a small red bird, very simple, with no real detail. Even without the detail, the sight of a tattoo made Tamaki a little uneasy. He'd seen many people with much bigger and more obvious tattoos back in France, but he was well aware that in Japan, the idea of someone of their social status having a tattoo was…almost unheard of.
The man must have caught him staring, because he tugged his sleeve down a little to cover it, speaking quietly, in a deep voice, “I got it in prison, don't worry about it.”
Tamaki was going to worry about it more, actually.
A maid was pouring everyone a glass of either champagne or brandy as they waited for dinner to be ready, and Tamaki took a champagne flute hesitantly, unused to drinking. The man put his hand on Tamaki's glass, calling out to his father. “Hey, Yuzuru! Are you letting the boy drink?”
Yuzuru glanced at the man, then at the flute of champagne being held now by both the man, and Tamaki, as Tamaki had yet to let go of it. He was silent for a moment, and Tamaki wondered if his father was intimidated by this man, he didn't blame him. “Yuuma…” he began, hesitantly.
“Let the boy drink.” Interjected Doctor Ootori himself, rolling his eyes far more obviously than was needed, “you drank far more at his age, Yuu.”
The way Kyoya's father had said that last word, the nickname, had clearly stricken a chord in Yuuma, who grumbled, but let Tamaki take the flute. He could see by the look of defeat in the man's eyes, that despite both being in their early 50s, Yuuma still had a weak spot for his younger brother.
Tamaki had some newfound respect for Kyoya's oldest uncle.
He certainly hadn't needed to be warned about Kyoya's father. Doctor Ootori was already a few sips into his second brandy of the evening when they sat down, now he was sat between two of his siblings, explaining why he'd spent over a million yen on hiring mall santas for his pediatric hospitals. Tamaki didn't think Yoshio was that kind of man, and definitely respected him a bit more for it- especially when Yoshio made a reference to the Christmas carol upon hearing his sister refer to it as “vanity spending”.
Doctor Ootori was a surprisingly gracious host, he'd managed to herd everyone into the largest lounge in the mansion, and had even brought an entire gramophone into the room, putting on a vinal record of old, christmassy jazz. He'd seen the man's siblings roll their eyes and nudge each other when he'd first put it on, some with clear annoyance, some with a bit of amusement. Tamaki wondered if he played the same record every year, he'd have to ask Kyoya about that.
Kyoya was on his other side, sipping champagne and fully lording it up, a little platter of cheeses on his lap. Tamaki noticed that no one else had been offered cheeses, Doctor Ootori had just handed the platter to Kyoya and no one had said a word about it. Tamaki was almost tempted to reach over and take a crumb of cheese, but he knew damn well how Kyoya got with food.
Kyoya's aunt, on the other hand, had no trouble taking a piece of cheese, simply replacing it with a small piece of chocolate. Kyoya didn't even flinch, Tamaki was impressed. She must have seen his expression, because she chuckled, “do you want a chocolate too, sweetie? They're coffee creams.” She asked him, and Tamaki saw Doctor Ootori's eyebrow twitch when she confirmed she'd just given Kyoya caffeine, Tamaki knew he was trying to force Kyoya to cut down on coffee.
Tamaki gave her his best charming smile and nodded, “oh of course! I'd absolutely love one, miss-...” He trailed off, shit, his father hadn't mentioned her name, how was he supposed to be charming when he didn't know her name? He couldn't call her princess! She was in her mid forties!
“Hina,” she informed him, dropping the coffee cream into his hand with a smile, “Hina Amakuza.” She responded, and Tamaki took note of her surname, it was familiar…
Hina was a few inches taller than Doctor Ootori, despite being his younger sister. She had pulled her hair up into a bun, and had them wrapped tinsel around the bun, tucking a red flower into it as well. Hina was wearing a red, velvet dress, with a white fur trim, like a far classier version of a sexy santa dress. She'd definitely dressed up the most, although Tamaki supposed that being the oldest woman at the event would put that kind of pressure on her. He wondered why he wasn't allowed to ask about Kyoya's grandmother.
“It's nice to meet you, Mrs Amakuza,” Tamaki responded, bowing his head, “Merry Christmas.”
She chuckled, usually women her age would be cooing over him by now, but she seemed to be treating him like she'd treat any other teenager. “Merry Christmas dear, are you having a good time so far?”
He nodded, relaxing a bit, since it was clear she was somewhat immune to his charms, “I am, yes. Although I was surprised to hear that Kyoya has this much extended family!” He chuckled, trying to make a light joke, instantly cringed when he could feel multiple raised eyebrows directed at him.
Hina, though, nodded, chuckling too. “I mean, you'd met his siblings, did you not expect that kind of output to be genetic? We're walking 3d printers, us.” She joked back, laughing at her own joke.
Doctor Ootori immediately quipped back, amusement sitting beside venom in his voice, “says the one with only one child.”
“My wife died!” Hina retorted, groaning. Wait, wife?
“So did mine.” Doctor Ootori shot back, fast as anything, eyebrow raised and a sly smirk on his face. Tamaki…didn't realise Kyoya's mother was dead.
Hina stumbles over a response, before just groaning and turning away, rolling her eyes. Conversations returned to normal, as Tamaki sat there, dumbfounded. “I…” he glanced at Hina, then at Kyoya, who didn't look like he'd even noticed what had happened.
Glancing at him, Hina smiled warmly, “oh if you're wondering about my daughter, she's running a little late. She'll be here once she's finished with her little club.”
Tamaki nods, barely processing what she'd said before leaning down and whispering to Kyoya, “your mother's dead?”
Kyoya nods, whispering back, “she died in childbirth, why?”
“You never told me…”
“It’s hardly useful information.”
Tamaki…couldn't really argue with that, so he just shrugged, sipping his glass of champagne slowly as he watched the adults and their conversations.
He noticed one man was on the phone, hand covering the receiver in an attempt to keep the noise of the lounge to interfere with his phonecall. He seemed increasingly stressed, which Tamaki hoped wasn't anything important. He noticed that his father looked irritated and a little disgusted by the man's worry, which confused Tamaki endlessly. He shuffled closer in order to evesdrop, able too since Yuuma had gone outside for a smoke break, and frankly, half the men in the room had followed. So the room had suddenly gotten far quieter, and Tamaki could make out the man's end of the phone call.
He seemed to be…telling whoever was on the other end that he was at work, and that he'd be late home so they wouldn't be able to go anywhere for Christmas and would have to do it at home. It seemed to be his wife on the other end, although Tamaki wasn't quite sure why she wouldn't be here right now… unless she genuinely believed he was still at work? That was… it made Tamaki rather sick, to think someone would do that…but why would he do that? Tamaki didn't know.
He nudged Kyoya in the side, and nods towards the man. Kyoya rolls his eyes and whispers to him, “that's my uncle Rokuro, he's a bit…weird.”
Tamaki tilted his head, Kyoya was calling someone weird? Compared to the rest of the Ootoris? The man had seemed entirely normal, even too normal, but….if Kyoya was genuinely saying he was weird, perhaps there was something he didn't know about the man?
“Wh…what do you mean?"
“You hear what he's saying right? He always tries this, it never works. Usually father calls his wife around about now, I'm not sure why uncle even keeps trying. He thinks we're all bad influences on his kids. Personally, if you think everyone else is an issue…might be time to look in the mirror. You know?”
Tamaki…did not know. He blinked at Kyoya, unsure if that was a normal family dynamic or not. After all, Tamaki wasn't that familiar with the concept of a normal family, but he was beginning to get the feeling that Kyoya wasn't either.
“What…is the deal with your extended family? I don't think you've ever mentioned any of them before.”
Kyoya shrugs, “well you've only met my uncle Yuuma and my aunt Hina, and I suppose you've overheard the rest of them speak. I imagine it's those two you're asking about?” Tamaki didn't really get the chance to respond, as Kyoya just continued. “Uncle Yuuma went to prison for twenty five years, but he got out in 97 and he's currently working for the PR division of the company. He makes enough, and father bought him a house outright, but he's in a little…lower of a tax bracket than the rest of us.” Kyoya sips his champagne, taking a bite of camembert. “With aunt Hina, she's a classy woman with too many brothers. She's also a lesbian, her wife died a few years ago though. They only had one kid but…” Kyoya trailed off, a smirk growing on his face. “Oh, she'll be here in around half an hour. I'm sure you'll enjoy meeting her.”
Now, Tamaki didn't really have the bandwidth to process the clear sadistic glee on his best friends face, he was busy processing the fact that Kyoya's aunt was a lesbian. A 46 year old lesbian? Tamaki had never heard of such a thing, but he wasn't about to argue with a woman who so clearly knew who she was and what she was about. Maybe it was…none of his business actually.
Soon enough, the other men came back inside, and Tamaki watched as a maid approached Doctor Ootori. “Oh jeez, did we leave you kids alone with Rocky?” A voice besides him made Tamaki jump, there was a man there, clearly the youngest of Kyoya's uncles, he wore a tacky Christmas sweater, and a pair of chunky headphones around his neck. He had similar facial hair to Doctor Ootori, but this guy had decided to put glitter in his, for Christmas, Tamaki guessed. “Sorry about that,” the man laughed, patting Tamaki's shoulder a little roughly. “I'm Akira by the way! You into EDM?”
Tamaki shook his head, a little concerned that this man was trying to relate to him. Thankfully, Kyoya stepped in, but with a genuine smile on his face. “Uncle Akira, come on, the maid said dinner should be ready to serve.” He helped his uncle up, despite Akira needing zero assistance, shooting Tamaki a sympathetic look. Akira began to argue, but Kyoya shot him down expertly. “Does Tamaki look like the kind of man who listens to EDM? Come now uncle, you know your audience better than that.” Kyoya herded his uncle towards his father, and the two seemed happy to chat, although Tamaki noticed that his own father, who had been speaking to Doctor Ootori, looked rather annoyed. Tamaki couldn't help but chuckle at that, and Kyoya rolled his eyes, “don't mind my Uncle Akira, he's a professional DJ so he's a little overzealous about it.”
“A professional DJ? Is he any good?”
“He goes by DJ GP, short for Gramaphone. As for his skill…I'm really not sure, all EDM sounds like throwing a back massager into a trash can to me.” Kyoya smirked again, and it was Tamaki's turn to roll his eyes, as they walked through the corridors. “He's a great guy, don't worry about him. Everyone will settle down a bit after dinner.”
“Alright, cool.” Tamaki nodded, it was rare that he felt like the straight man in a situation. It almost made him want to be a bit less dramatic around Haruhi. Almost.
When they got into the dining room, Tamaki glanced at the lovely decorations, the Ootori's really went all out for Christmas. He saw that everyone's place at the table was set, and sat himself down besides Yuuichi and Fiyumi, two of Kyoya's older siblings. Yuuichi turned to him, noticing his exhaustion, “did your father not prep you for this?” He chuckled, “my family can be a little taxing if you're not prepared.”
“He…tried.” Tamaki responded in earnest, he didn't usually talk to Yuuichi, but he knew the man well enough that he was a welcome break from all of those uncles. “I don't think I took him very seriously.”
Yuuichi nods, chuckling, “I get what you mean, they see all this perfect and go ‘these people can't possibly be batshit insane’ but the issue there is, they've never seen what happens when you put a baker's dozen geniuses in the same room.”
Tamaki looked at him for a moment, something about him referring to himself as a genius rubbed Tamaki the wrong way, but he was just going to smile politely, it was Christmas after all, and it wasn't like the man wasn't a genius. He was a qualified doctor, and being groomed to take over the company, Tamaki couldn't deny that Yuuichi was certainly a genius. But something about that ego…it seemed a little…brash?
Fiyumi was sat on his other side, in a green silk blouse and a black pencil skirt that she'd stapled tinsel to the hem of. She had Christmas trees as earrings, and was wearing shiny red lipstick, hanging on her husband's arm. The poor man looked…blander.
Tamaki thought that Eiji Shidou was a fine man. By that, Tamaki, of course, meant that Eiji was a man, who was…fine. Not exactly a blinding genius like the Ootoris, but he wasn't stupid either. He owned the company that made the big machines that the Ootoris used in their hospitals, so it was handy to keep him around. Tamaki figured that the fact Fiyumi loved the man was enough, but emotions aren't what Ootoris deal in, Tamaki knew that by now. Everyone had their use.
“Uncle Rokuro,” Fiyumi spoke, addressing that unnervingly ordinary man, “could my dear aunt Ami not make it today? Are her and the triplets busy? I saw that Rin was in the graveyard…has anyone gone to fetch him, by the way?”
Rokuro sighed heavily, but didn't seem as horrified by Fiyumi as he did by the rest of his family. He simply responded in a flat tone, “Ami is busy, she can't just drop everything for some stupi-”
“I called her earlier,” Doctor Ootori cut in, shooting his brother one hell of a glare for addressing his daughter with that bored tone of voice, “Ami will be bringing the triplets over after breakfast tomorrow. I made sure of that.”
The tension in the room was so thick, Tamaki was fairly certain he couldn't cut it with a knife…he'd need an axe. Glancing over at Kyoya, however, Tamaki noticed how Kyoya was staring at his phone, the light from it flooding his glasses with white. Tamaki knew that smirk well, and it sent a chill down his spine, something was about to happen that would be very unfortunate for…someone. Tamaki just prayed it wasn't him.
The maids began to bring everyone a…oh! A custom Christmas cocktail? At least, everyone's drink was different. Tamaki's drink was white, with gold glitter, a gold sugar rim, a little sugar paper crown that had been gilded gold, and it smelt of cherries and warm cream. He took a sip, it was slightly warm, like he'd been expected, it tasted almost like a warm milk, with a dark cherry hit to it, and a nice sweetness that almost allowed him to miss the yelling.
“YO! BEN’S HERE! I'M GONNA GO GET HER!” Akito Ootori practically screamed as he leapt from his chair, somehow not knocking the black, green and red cocktail in his hand, although the stick of cinnamon shifted a little. Tamaki had almost forgotten about the brash twenty-something, perhaps on purpose. Akito was… a little brash, and a tad ruder than he should be. Tamaki looked around, noticing that no one had reacted with annoyance to the yelling, only perking up at the idea of this ‘Ben’ person. Tamaki had no clue who it was, but by the way Kyoya's smirk became almost a grin as he sipped his cocktail, Tamaki was sure he wouldn't like them.
He watched as Akito began to make his way to the door, trying not to dislike the guy, when suddenly Akito froze, stopping in place. Following his line of sight, Tamaki realised that Doctor Ootori had raised a hand, along with an eyebrow. “You will sit down, Akito. The maids can bring Benio in, we have our drinks to enjoy.”
Akito sat down, grumbling. Akira patted him on the back, chuckling and making some comment about Doctor Ootori being annoying. Tamaki made note of how the two seemed to be fairly close, even in name. He wondered if Doctor Ootori had purposely given Akito a name so similar to the doctor's youngest brother, or if the name, and the following consequences were an accident.
Tamaki noticed that the Ootoris had all finished their cocktails by the time Tamaki was halfway through his own. He noticed this, because the maids replaced everyone's drink, so now Tamaki had two cocktails next to his plate, and he felt a little awkward about it.
which threesome kills u more ????? id be scared of isagi/yuuji my clit will fall off
tojiver 100%. they’re both canonically physically the strongest in their world </3 and the most playful. and sleazy (oliver more but yk). and the most Dad.
(also cuz i have horrible daddy issues like absolutely atrocious therefore there’s just a lot of mental rewiring happening so it would definitely kill me with that alone)
with yuuchi / itagi (idk LMAO) it would be the most boyfriend but uhm. slightly deranged threesome just because they’re both competitive (but very sweet) and get weird when they make you cum A Lot… they get carried away. also they’re both more or so veryyyy into the DP (more than tojiver imo) by a Lot so </3 rip either way ig
clit falling off on both scenarios but with the physical strength and stamina oliver and toji have? that’s much faster LMAO
hello again!! thank you so much for gathering the iketeru illustrations for me (and translating them too, which i greatly appreciated), cause your post really made my day :')
it's funny that the author's got a whole book of fanservice for us lmao, but i love it! do you have a #1 favorite illustration (of anyone) from the whole book? (sorry if this sent twice btw, crap was glitching lol)
lovely anon, I must tell you that I once again went absolutely over the line with pictures I took. There are so many good ones!! I knew a few illustrations from sensei's twitter and knew how well it worked for me so I ordered this book from japan and yes, that is why I can never pick favourites I just like all of them (exception is the series in which the characters are teachers and you are supposed to be their student, not a big fan of those lol). Once again I put them under cut together with my chitter chatter about them asdhjflas
anyway im glad i made your day!
yes its amazing that this fanservice exist. In the interview at the end of the book sensei says they often drew their characters as practise (without lines) and then uploaded them to twitter to find out the people responded so well!! so they continued with it! More snippets from the interview:
they consider this a kind of alternative world that has no space in the manga (since its a gag manga).
they claim they didnt try to make the characters hot on purpose, it just turned out this way. in their head usao and kumao always had old people voices. but now they are glad the characters are hot because of the voice actors choosen.
they come up with a line and then assign it to a character, rarely the other way around.
Every one of their characters has one thing they think is special, something they like to show off when they draw them. for Uramichi its the chest, for Iketeru the slender neck, for Usahara the shoulders and Kumatani the arms!
and shockingly to me: since this manga is running 10 years now they said when they started they felt like Uramichi is so old, but now they are the same age! I cant believe how someone in their twenties wrote such an accurate manga about being in ones thirties.
gosh anon i wish this was more popular, i only have one friend to talk to about this story and i have so much in my soul dhkasdflsd so please come back if you feel like it!
ok so some of my faves under cut from here
first of: my favourite has always been ushara. he is cringe fail and i love cringe fail so much. but that also means he has almost no COOL lines because he is kind of an idiot (lovingly said) tho all his illustrations are so cute. so he wont show up here much tho i love everything about his arts of course!!
now you asked me for my favourite and ive known this one for a while, but I think my unbeaten favourites of everyone are the love confessions:
I love the different way they all do it. Uramichi pretty much goes "I love....you" (cries), Iketeru of course quotes it, Usahara just YELLS at you "HEY I LOVE YOU" and kumatani is like ".............. iloveyou" haskdlfh
generally kumatani has so many cool lines because he is so stone cold. this is also specifically heart wrecking for me because his voice actor Nakamura Yuuchi is my favourite thing since strawberries so if I imagine him doing the voice I want to die.
Three times Kumatani is an absolute tsundere about white day:
"you are chattering so much... well, tell me what you want now. I'll get you anything."
"What do you want? Tell me clearly"
"I told you to get over here"
another white day illustration i love is this one from usahara
he says "the present is me, hippety hop", which i find ultra cute with the little bunny and the hairclip!! but my friend said it sounds like he forgot white day and just brought the first thing he could find, which would be in character (adding this picture was a nightmare tumblr did NOT want me to upload it?? you hate cute boys? tumblr you hate cute boys??)
uramichi's face when he realises you april fooled him is so funny to me somehow
" You say "Im sorry".. that is also a lie, is it not?"
ok from now on the pictures will be low quality because tumblr wont let me upload the photos direclty anymore i need to screenshot them first. rip im sorry
ok there are a few here of uramichi saying somehow sexy things (to me at least) and it makes me go hrgnlkhdflk
""Good big brother (onisan)" you said. Who do you mean?" idk why that gets me so hard but why you asking .. wha...what you mean
"... Isn't it ok? You don't have to go home yet." (this is from the stayin the night portion)
"A promise from big brother. I will protect you well" T_T
this thing which can only be described as ship art:
is this bickering idiots to lovers sensei? is that what you mean to tell me sensei?
this usahara from the staying the night section
"Come play with me today!" (............ h.......how...)
this image if kumatani because of THE LOOK? um HELLO
unfortuantely the translation is kinda tricky because i cant read most the kanji and google lense is like?? but its something like "Do you think you have the guts to betray me?" or something like "Do you think I have the guts to betray you?" idk he looks good so its fine
almost done i swear!! there are a few kuma usa double pages i love
Kuma: "Don't look. Its hot." (sidenote, he is shirtless a lot. not that I complain or whatever)
Usa: "Where would you like to go? The ocean? My house?"
sorry i tried to keep my fingers out of all pictures but clearly failed xD
Kuma: "Shut up. Shut up and look at me."
Usa: "I understaaaand. Get over here." (crying, i want to)
this is a part of the book extras. I showed it to you with Iketeru already. I think the meaning is sort of the moment they realised their carreers are over, sadface
Kuma: "I never really liked it. I thought I would just throw it away. Damn it, I lost."
Usa: "The wind suddenly stopped. Ah, thats how it is. Its over"
of course there are a lot more other characters shown in the book, but much rarer and since they dont interest me too much they dont have my favourite lines asdhfklasdhf anyway anon I hope you liked this
TOKYO REVENGERS OCS:
ZWISCHENZUG
Hello chattt
Sekkun here to apologise for dying due to getting caught up with assignments (3D modelling really got me fucked up) but I finally found time to finish another set of Tokyo Revengers OCs.
Instead of being based off of Egyptian deities, Zwischenzug is based off of chess pieces!! And once again, I will update the refs and repost when needed~
Ah yes, a set of the magic number of six for balance.
Here’s what each chess piece they represent:
-Satoshi Kimura (Pawn)
-Yuuchi Hashimoto (Rook)
-Fumimori Abe (Knight)
-Mamoru Jikuharu (Bishop)
-Fujisada Abe (King)
-Setsuna Rembutsu (Queen)
HEIGHT CHART GO BRR:
Okay so since it’s 3:19am, I’ll do a quick rundown of Zwischenzug.
The only reason why Zwischenzug ever existed in the first place was because of Satoshi’s hatred for Delinquents, ESPECIALLY KOJI (will elaborate in the future)
Rest of the Zwischenzugs were dragged into helping Satoshi’s cause forcefully.
so in contrast to Pharaoh’s Kids being just a rather chaotic but well-meaning group of friends, the delinquents in Zwischenzug don’t really click with one another but there was an attempt to make ends meet for friendships despite all of them have different paths they wanna take..
Satoshi please stop being obsessed over Koji my boy did nothing wrong :(
