Yumehara and Akechi do NOT get off to a good start in canon. They are not hanging out, they do not care about each other except as generally being part of Saiki's friend group.

However, I believe that once Yumehara accidentally introduces Akechi to the world of yaoi that they will start interacting exclusively for the purposes of yaoi roleplay and end up eventually becoming very good friends because of it.

Akechi: He may be ace but he's absolutely a top-notch card-carrying monsterlover lmao. He'd have a blast figuring out how to get the wilder monsters to have a good time.

Hairo: He likes monsters he can still play sports with and wrestle lmao. Gotta have hands for tennis! 🎾

Kaido: Definitely into anthros lmao. He has a fursona design tucked away in a notebook, and maybe he's made one for his crush too, and even– and even drew them... (h-holding hands)!

Kuboyasu: Hasn't ever thought about it, but he'd be really into weres, specifically. The wild side definitely appeals to him...

Mera: No thank you, she's not even interested in humans.

Nendo: Considering his father's taste in women... Yeah he's probably a monsterlover lmao.

Saiko: Only elegant, powerful monsters befitting of a man of his calibre, of course!

Rifuta: Into mostly humanoid monsters but especially those that have wings and can sweep her off her feet~

Teruhashi: Only interested in monsters that are a tiny, elegant step from humanity, like fae or (humanoid) angels.

Toritsuka: Canonically chased after that ghost girl so he's definitely a monsterlover. Naturally prefers monsters gifted in the breast department.

Yumehara: Only interested in very humanoid monsters, but they can be a little wilder, as a treat. Both werewolves and vampires are invited to her boudoir. (Yes she was 💯 into Twilight)

Saiki: He is a monster, technically. But no, he's only interested in human normies. Psychic humans are on thin fucking ice.
