#Yes I understand I'm also biased and salty that gen 9 has people singing it praises yet gen 8 was getting shit almost immediately

Scarlet and Violet....

I'm...honestly trying not to be negative about Gen 9. I really am....but so far....

Here's my biggest issues with gen 9 (before playing):

1. The style they went for is not appealing compared to previous gens. The fact that they went towards the look of the new pokemon snap instead of slight changing the previous style was not a good idea in my opinion.

2. The graphics look worse than SwSh AND Legends: Arceus. The frame rate (based on what we've seen) is just bad and slightly laggy. This could pass for a 3ds game, not a mainline switch title. ((I DON’T WANT TO HEAR A SINGLE PERSON TALK SHIT ABOUT SWSH’S GRAPHICS EVER AGAIN AFTER THIS))

3. The protags look like they're 8. I understand that the Pokemon canon is that the protags are always 10 (or so) but the previous ones could easily pass as teens. These guys look more like the elementary npcs you'd fight in early game on route 1. Don't' even get me started on their outfits/uniforms.

4. The new mechanic looks....dumb. If they just turned crystal instead of having the stupid looking hats, it would have been much better!

5. The gym leaders so far are kind of ...bland compared to SwSh and even UsUm!!(Hell, even XY). I do like a the ice one so far, but no one really stands out.

6. The enemy team just looks dumb and basic. Plus their leader looks like a punk clown that Piers would bully. Legit hideous. Guzma looked better and that's saying something.

Here’s what I do like tho:

1. The starters are fine. Sprigatito is adorable, though I do find it interesting that we're getting another cat starter (considering that we just got Litten in gen 7). But they're cute and different enough.

2. The customization so far looks really good! I do like all the new features and how much more detailed you can get. This is what they should have done in SwSh, but I'm very happy that they're doing it now in gen 9.

3. The legendaries aren't bad. They could be better, but over all, not bad. I like their designs better than palkia and dialga at least.

4. The open world and mini map feature are really cool and I can't wait to try it out!

I'm going to go into the game with no bias and play it, then give it an honest review. But in all honesty, I'm not holding out hope It's like watching an old friend make you dinner, you know what it's gonna be but you see them using almost all ingredients that you don't like. Of course, it could taste great in the end! But....I'm not optimistic
