ice cream sundae

suna was back at the ravens eye diner. now having patched up his rocky relationship with you, it almost feels right to go back and visit you, getting a soda and joking around with you. it feels natural walking through the front door and listening to the bell above his head ring. the blonde hostess greets him.

“hi, how are you today?” she asks, grabbing his menu and silverware like always. she leads him to a far corner, one he recognizes as not being in your section.

“i’m good, but um, could i maybe sit in y/ns section?” he says, not making any direct eye contact.

she looks frazzled, he can tell this even without looking her in the eye. she scrambles looking for words.

“oh, um, yeah! sure! right this way!” she does a quick pivot, leading him over to a different section. she places his menu down carefully, and suna takes a seat, waiting patiently for you to come over. he feels his toes bump against the table legs, and he feels nervous. not that you hate him, but nervous that you’ll change your mind and not want him in your section.

hes quickly proved wrong as you practically bounce over to his table, a wide smile on your face, and a glass of his favorite soda in hand.

“hi suna.” you say, placing down the glass carefully, setting a paper covered straw next to it.

“hi, how’ve you been?” he asks, attempting to make small talk. he wishes he could talk to you without it sounding awkward, but unfortunately its not coming out how he wants it to.

“good, how about you?” your smile doesn’t falter. suna appreciates this.

“uhm, good.” he goes quiet. you are at a standstill now. you rock back and forth on your feet quietly tapping your pen against your notebook.

“um… did you wanna order any food today?” you finally ask.

sunas mind short circuts.

“did you wanna hang or something later?”

“oh! sure, i’d love to. i’m off in like 30 minutes if you just wanted to hang around.” you smile, a bit of confusion present in your voice.

“yeah, sure sounds cool.” he gives you a slight smile. ”cool.” you laugh a bit and start to walk away, before freezing. “did you want any food?”

“yeah! sorry, i’ll just do the pancakes.” he says, feeling his face heat up.

you smile at him and he feels his face heat up even more.

you smile at him again after dropping off his stack of pancakes.

“what did you want to do after this?” you ask.

“ice cream?” he offers.

“sounds great.” you accept.

the walk to the ice cream shop is a bit awkward, but pleasant. suna walks on the side of the sidewalk closest to the road, and your shoulders bump against eachother as he asks you about serving. he holds the door to the shop open for you as the bell above the door rings.

you order a cone as suna pays for the both of you. the two of you sit in a booth with your ice cream on a bench outside of the shop. you feel the sun shining on your shoulders.

“you must have really hated me, you don’t talk meanly to any other servers.” you say, lightly joking around.

“nah, i didn’t hate you. you just… made me nervous. if that makes any sense.” he says, staring down into his ice cream sundae.

“what do you mean by that? i don’t think i’m that scary.” you laugh.

“no, it’s not that you were scary, it’s just that i thought you seemed really cool, and nice, and stuff. sorry, i’m not trying to be weird or anything.” he looks nervous.

“you aren’t being weird. i think that you seem really cool, and nice, and stuff too suna.” you turn to him, giving him a grin. this time he smiles back.

“cool.” he nods.

“cool.” you agree.
