Finally finished this!! The fuck did I just read!!!

Currently reading! This has been languishing on the TBR for a While™ and came highly recommended by a bookstore coworker. I'm only a couple chapters in, so far, and the family tree is ~Messy~, but the prose is lyrical and lovely!

Some corrections

Beth only prepared to save Maggie when she was taken by Merle to the governor not after the fall of the prison. She only wanted to find Judith luke etc as priority because they are vulnerable

You cannot condemn that strange caryller with the weird incest carol/mom thing self ship and then say Negan and Carl are okay. Same difference both are gross. Negan is an old man and Carl is just a kid. Also you forget Carl was sexually assaulted by the claimer and was going to be gangraped by a bunch of men if rick hadn't acted. They were pedos and rapists. Incidentally Negan alone is a rapist by coercing women to be his wives. So to ship Negan with Carl is wrong on so many levels. People ship rick and Carl, also Judith and Daryl or Carl and Daryl. Are they ok to ship? Yet you sit here and say self shipping with Carol is gross, incest shipping is gross, shipping Carol (who deffo does not respect consent and boundaries with Daryl) with Daryl is gross but say a pedo ship is ok. Pro shipping is accepting all ships regardless of their nature or how gross they are. But you pick and choose and then say you're a pro shipper. You are not a pro shipper.

Okay as regards to Beth TWICE she was prepared to save Maggie, Merle and when the prison fell.

When the prison fell she may not have thought she would find Maggie but I'm sure she was hoping

i feel like reylos are basically the absolute masters of Reading A Gaze after all those years of hardcore training and like. i didn't even get the romance tingles from it. i genuinely don't see it - i found their moment(s) even less romantically ambiguous than jyn and cassian at the end of rogue one.

AND YET! i am so fcking annoyed by all the whining about ~icky selfcest~ that i'm like, straight up willing to force myself to make it an otp.

like seriously? they are two completely different characters, their individual identities diverged so long ago that the fact that they're only barely technically the same person at this point is literally brought up multiple times. they're not identical or fraternal twin siblings, treating selfcest like Incest Lite™ is a blatant disregard of the entire concept of individual identity.

plus, i have real selfcest ships (like dirkhal from hmstck) whose point of divergence is canonically relatively recent, so i'm genuinely insulted people are putting sylkie on that level. like damn, y'all really are sheltered if you think SYLKI is The Epitome Of Evil Selfcest.
