Tumblr media
Overview of Xiaomi’s Market Presence in Bangladesh Xiaomi entered the Bangladeshi market with a strategic focus on delivering high-quality smartphones at affordable prices. The company's approach has resonated with a large segment of Bangladeshi consumers who seek value for money without compromising on features. Over the years, Xiaomi has established a strong presence through a combination of online sales, local partnerships, and a growing network of service centers.
Price Ranges of Xiaomi Smartphones in Bangladesh Xiaomi offers a diverse range of smartphones in Bangladesh, catering to different budget segments. Here’s a breakdown of the typical price ranges for Xiaomi devices available in the country:
2.1 Budget Segment Xiaomi’s budget smartphones are designed to offer essential features at a low cost. In Bangladesh, these devices are priced typically between BDT 10,000 to BDT 20,000. Popular models in this segment include:
Xiaomi Redmi 10: Known for its balanced performance and affordability, the Redmi 10 is priced around BDT 14,000. It offers features such as a Full HD+ display, a quad-camera setup, and a decent battery life. Xiaomi Redmi 9A: This model is priced at approximately BDT 11,000 and is designed for users seeking basic functionality. It includes a large battery, a capable camera system, and a reliable processor. 2.2 Mid-Range Segment For consumers looking for a mix of performance and price, Xiaomi’s mid-range smartphones are available in the BDT 20,000 to BDT 40,000 range. Some notable models include:
Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite: Priced around BDT 27,000, the Mi 11 Lite offers a sleek design, a high-resolution AMOLED display, and a capable camera system. It is popular among users who want a stylish phone with solid performance. Xiaomi Poco X4 Pro: At approximately BDT 35,000, this model is known for its robust performance, high refresh rate display, and a strong battery life. It’s a popular choice for gaming and heavy usage. 2.3 Premium Segment Xiaomi’s premium smartphones, which offer top-tier features and performance, are priced above BDT 40,000. Some examples include:
Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra: Priced around BDT 55,000, the Mi 11 Ultra is equipped with a powerful processor, an advanced camera system, and a high-quality display. It’s designed for users who demand the best in performance and features. Xiaomi 12 Pro: With a price tag of approximately BDT 60,000, the Mi 12 Pro is a flagship device that offers cutting-edge technology, including a high-resolution display, top-notch camera capabilities, and fast charging.
Factors Influencing Xiaomi Mobile Prices in Bangladesh Several factors impact the pricing of Xiaomi smartphones in Bangladesh:
3.1 Exchange Rates and Import Duties The exchange rate between the Bangladeshi Taka (BDT) and foreign currencies, such as the US Dollar (USD) and Chinese Yuan (CNY), affects the cost of importing smartphones. Fluctuations in exchange rates can lead to changes in retail prices. Additionally, import duties and taxes imposed by the Bangladeshi government on electronic goods can influence the final price of Xiaomi smartphones.
3.2 Local Taxes and VAT Value-Added Tax (VAT) and other local taxes can also affect the pricing of smartphones. In Bangladesh, VAT on electronic goods can range from 5% to 15%, depending on the product category. These taxes are often included in the retail price, impacting the overall cost for consumers.
3.3 Distribution and Retail Markups Xiaomi’s distribution network in Bangladesh includes both online platforms and physical retail stores. Retailers often add a markup to cover operational costs and profit margins. The pricing strategies of different retailers can lead to variations in the final price of Xiaomi smartphones.
3.4 Supply Chain and Inventory Costs Supply chain challenges, including logistics and inventory management, can influence pricing. Issues such as shortages, delays in shipment, and fluctuations in supply can lead to price adjustments. Xiaomi’s ability to manage its supply chain efficiently helps in maintaining competitive prices.
3.5 Competition and Market Demand The competitive landscape and market demand also play a role in determining prices. Xiaomi competes with other smartphone brands in Bangladesh, and pricing strategies are often adjusted based on competition and consumer preferences. Promotional offers, discounts, and sales events can impact pricing temporarily.
Popular Xiaomi Models and Their Pricing Trends 4.1 Xiaomi Redmi Series The Redmi series has been a cornerstone of Xiaomi’s success in Bangladesh. Known for its affordability and solid performance, the Redmi series continues to attract budget-conscious consumers. Recent models like the Redmi Note 11 and Redmi 10A have been well-received for their competitive pricing and feature set.
4.2 Xiaomi Mi Series The Mi series caters to users looking for a balance between price and performance. Models like the Mi 11 Lite and Mi 11X Pro offer a mid-range option with premium features. These devices are priced to provide a mix of affordability and high-end specifications.
4.3 Xiaomi Poco Series The Poco series, initially launched as a sub-brand, has gained popularity for offering flagship-level performance at mid-range prices. The Poco X4 Pro and Poco F4 are examples of models that provide high performance and value, catering to both gamers and tech enthusiasts.
4.4 Xiaomi Mi Mix Series The Mi Mix series represents Xiaomi’s foray into premium, innovative smartphones. With models like the Mi Mix 4 and Mi Mix Alpha, this series offers cutting-edge technology and high price points, targeting users who seek top-of-the-line features.
Purchasing Xiaomi Smartphones in Bangladesh 5.1 Online Retailers Online shopping platforms like Daraz, Robi, and Xiaomi’s official website are popular channels for purchasing Xiaomi smartphones in Bangladesh. These platforms often offer competitive prices, promotional discounts, and convenient delivery options. Online shopping also provides consumers with the ability to compare prices and read reviews before making a purchase.
5.2 Physical Retail Stores Xiaomi has partnered with various local retailers and electronics stores across Bangladesh. These physical stores provide an opportunity for consumers to experience the devices firsthand and receive assistance from sales representatives. Retail stores may also offer exclusive deals and financing options.
5.3 Authorized Distributors and Service Centers Xiaomi has established a network of authorized distributors and service centers in Bangladesh. These centers ensure that customers receive genuine products and reliable after-sales service. Purchasing from authorized channels provides peace of mind regarding product authenticity and warranty coverage.
Future Trends and Expectations As the smartphone market in Bangladesh continues to evolve, several trends are expected to shape Xiaomi’s pricing strategy:
6.1 Increasing Local Production Xiaomi has expressed intentions to increase local production in Bangladesh. Local manufacturing can help reduce import duties and transportation costs, potentially leading to lower prices for consumers. This strategy aligns with the company’s goal of making technology more accessible.
6.2 Evolving Consumer Preferences Consumer preferences are shifting towards 5G connectivity, advanced camera systems, and long-lasting batteries. Xiaomi’s ability to adapt to these preferences and incorporate emerging technologies into its devices will influence pricing and market positioning.
6.3 Competitive Market Dynamics The competitive landscape in Bangladesh is likely to remain dynamic, with new entrants and existing brands continuously adjusting their pricing strategies. Xiaomi’s ability to maintain its value-for-money proposition while innovating and addressing consumer needs will be crucial for its continued success.
Conclusion Xiaomi has established itself as a major player in the Bangladeshi smartphone market by offering a diverse range of devices that cater to different budget segments. From budget-friendly models to premium flagship devices, Xiaomi’s pricing strategy reflects its commitment to providing value for money and addressing the needs of various consumer segments. Factors such as exchange rates, local taxes, distribution costs, and market competition play a significant role in determining the prices of Xiaomi smartphones in Bangladesh.
As the market continues to evolve, Xiaomi’s focus on innovation, local production, and understanding consumer preferences will be key to maintaining its competitive edge and delivering high-quality products at attractive prices. For Bangladeshi consumers, Xiaomi represents a brand that combines technology and affordability, making it a compelling choice in the ever-changing landscape of mobile technology.

My Tech Setup
I’ll make separate posts for my software and bass guitar setups, but here’s my current tech hardware setup.
Tumblr media
The overview. Details incoming!
MacBook Pro
My Mac is the center of it all — and I’m living the laptop-desktop lyfe.
Now, there are many things I like about living in Norway. And one of them, is that we’ve mandated by law that things like computers needs to have a 5-year warranty(ish). And this also applies to second-hand owners! So buying used Apple gear, is great here — and that’s how I bought my MacBook Pro when it was 10 months old.
It’s a 14-inch M1 Pro base model, with 512 GB of storage and 16 GB of RAM.
I do have to be mindful of the storage, and occasionally, I push the RAM. But it still works tremendously. I’ve never been this happy with a computer before.
Tumblr media
Did you notice the Macbook in the previous image?
Apple Studio Display
Yes, it’s too expensive — but no, it’s not the same as just having a 4k screen. **And look at everything that happens when I connect one Thunderbolt cable to my Mac! **👇🏻
Power to the Mac
Power to the Xiaomi Mi Monitor Light 🖇️ (Website)
Laneware Macro-1
Laneware LW-67 keyboard
Both with Less but better keycaps and
Boba U4 switches (U4Ts in the large buttons).
Lightning cable for the Apple Magic Trackpad
Universal Audio Volt 2 🖇️ (Website)
PreSonus Eris E3.5 🖇️ (Website)
Grado SR125 (I don’t have X, though) 🖇️ (Website)
Røde NT-USB Mini 🖇️ (Website)
I just love that I can unplug one cable, and just take my laptop home with me.
Tumblr media
When I had this at my home office, I also connected ethernet to the spare port, a mouse in the USB-A hub, and some more stuff.
Tumblr media
I've tilted the trackpad (and its wrist rest), to improve the ergonomics. I should probably get a split keyboard as well...
Tumblr media
Makes it easier to connect both my headphones and speakers to the Mac, and I also use it for bass rehearsel and recording, and for testing pedal boards. Fastened with Dual Lock.
Tumblr media
The mic and monitors are fine - nothing more, nothing less. But very practical!
Tumblr media
These sound great! Especially with Crinacle's EQ preset set through . Tons of leakage, though.
Desk accessories
The wool desk mat was custom ordered (to me previous, tiny, desk) from this Etsy store. The, equally custom, wrist rests are from this Etsy store.
Tumblr media
I almost never need a wallet - so Apple's MagSafe wallet is perfect. The Moleskin notebook is just as under used.
The iPad and headphones stand is IKEA’s (very cheap) Havrehoj. I like it a lot!
Tumblr media
iPad
I have the iPad Pro 11-inch from 2018 (the first with the flat sides), with LTE and 256 GB of storage. I also bought this used — in 2019, and it still works well (even though I’m starting to notice that it’s 5.5 years old, with the occasional slowdown). I’m one of those who loves having LTE — as it’s so nice to never having to worry about internet connection. I also used it as my «whiteboard» when I was a teacher — and could just switch to LTE if the school’s network was struggling. 1
I also have the Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard, which I like.
iPhone
Tumblr media
Not in the first image, as it took it.
I’m a noted Mini iPhone enjoyer, and my iPhone 13 Mini (in Midnight) has worked perfectly since the day I got it. It fixed all the issues of the 12 Mini, and is a top-tier iPhone IMO.
Here are some things I’ll say ’til the day I die (and will fight everyone who disagrees with 💪🏻):
The ordinary (potential) Mini buyer is on a long update cycle, and has also bought SE phones. So when the SE got updated half a year before the 12 Mini’s release, many of those had recently bought a phone — and this hurt the sales.
The 15 Plus phone also «flopped», but doesn’t get nearly the same amount of flak!
The lineup with the 13 Mini, 13, 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max was the perfect lineup. Apple should be able to include a mini phone in their trillion dollar pipeline anyway. I don’t have particularly small hands (I just like to be able to use my phone one-handed), but many people do and should be well-served as well.
Here’s to hoping the next SE is a Mini. 🤞🏻 (But I doubt it. And, my next phone is probably a Pro for the cameras anyway…)
I also have the first gen AirPods Pro. I really like them, but I’ve had some troubles with them, and had to return them a couple of times. Luckily, there’s the whole government mandated warranty — so even though I bought them in 2019, I got brand-new ones (for free) as late as the fall of 2023. 🙌🏻
No, it’s far from as nice to just share from your phone. ↩︎

Xiaomi Mi TV 5X 55
The budget and mid-range television sectors in India are largely covered by Xiaomi and its Redmi sub-brand, but Xiaomi will always place a premium on value, which also extends to higher-end models. The Mi TV line has been mostly characterised by huge screens, a tonne of features, smart software, and discrete design. The company's most recent television offering, the Mi TV 5X, aims to continue that trend while maintaining the competitive and affordable cost that has drawn customers to the brand. The Xiaomi Mi TV 5X 55-inch Ultra-HD LED Smart TV, which costs Rs. 45,999 in India, looks quite nice on paper and offers capable performance without requiring you to spend a lot of money. Dolby is one of its most important features.Vision, hands-free Google Assistant voice commands, and the union of the company's well-liked PatchWall UI with Android TV 10. Is this the best 55-inch television under 50,000 rupees that is currently available? Learn more from this review. Design and technical details of the 55-inch Xiaomi Mi TV The Mi logo had previously been included on televisions from Xiaomi's Mi brand, but the Mi TV 5X marks a significant change. The Mi TV 5X, although though it's still referred to as a "Mi TV," demonstrates the business's decision to move to "Xiaomi" as its brand name on future products, as was stated by the company. The new Xiaomi logo is prominently shown just below the screen, above the module with the power button and a few indicator lights. It is displayed on a silver strip. The Mi TV 5X distinguishes out from the competitors and other televisions from Xiaomi like the Redmi TV X Series and Mi TV 4X range thanks to the rest of the screen's borders, which are noticeably thinner and a similar shade of silver. Although the Mi TV 5X isn't quite as thin as some of the high-end TVs I've recently evaluated, it is still relatively well-built and not overly thick, especially at the bottom, where it bulges slightly. When mounted on a wall or a stand, it looks nice for a TV in its price range. A second set of inputs and ports are located to the left of the screen, and the lower portion of the TV's back has a texture resembling carbon fibre. The two USB ports, three HDMI 2.1 ports, and 3.5mm audio out socket are on the left, while the Ethernet, optical audio out, composite AV input, and antenna port are on the right. These less-used connections all face downward. The television can be wall-mounted with any aftermarket VESA-compatible kit or put on a stand using the aluminium stands that come with the unit. At the time of installation, Xiaomi can offer a wall-mount kit for an additional fee.  AmazonBasics 55-Inch Fire TV Edition Ultra-HD HDR Smart LED TV Review While I am reviewing the 55-inch Mi TV 5X model, which costs Rs. 45,999, you can also choose the 50-inch and 43-inch models, which are respectively priced at Rs. 41,999 and Rs. 31,999 in India. All three of them are Ultra-HD TVs that can support HDR content up to Dolby Vision. Xiaomi Mi QLED TV 4K 55-inch Ultra-HD Android TV (L55M6)  A 55-inch Ultra-HD (3840x2160-pixel) LED-backlit screen, Dolby Vision and HDR10+ high dynamic range codecs are supported by the Mi TV 5X 55.   This television's two speakers can support Dolby Atmos and DTS-HD, and its 40W sound output is rated. One of the HDMI connections supports HDMI ARC, and connectivity options include dual-band Wi-Fi ac and Bluetooth 5. The TV is equipped with a quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of app and app data storage. Remote and features of the Xiaomi Mi TV 5X 55 While Xiaomi's televisions have undergone general design and branding changes over the past few months and years, the company's approach to the remote has remained relatively consistent. The Mi TV 5X has Xiaomi's well-known, simplistic remote, but disappointingly—though this was to be expected—the necessary AAA batteries are not provided in the sales package.   Blaupunkt 43-inch Ultra-HD LED CyberSound Android TV (43CSA7070) I'm fairly accustomed to the remote in and of itself, and the company's software enhancements like Quick Mute and Quick Settings access have long since made up for its physical flaws. It's well-equipped to get you anywhere in the TV's software quickly, and you can simply navigate both Xiaomi's PatchWall UI and the Stock Android TV UI.   Other noteworthy features of the Mi TV 5X include hands-free Google Assistant access, an auto-low-latency mode for use with gaming consoles, built-in Google Chromecast with support for Ultra-HD and HDR casting from supported apps and services, and the option to set Alexa as your default voice assistant if you'd rather.   I'm fairly accustomed to the remote in and of itself, and the company's software enhancements like Quick Mute and Quick Settings access have long since made up for its physical flaws. It's well-equipped to get you anywhere in the TV's software quickly, and you can simply navigate both Xiaomi's PatchWall UI and the Stock Android TV UI.   Similar to a smart speaker like the Google Nest Audio, the television contains a microphone that can be programmed to constantly be listening for the wake phrases "OK Google" or "Hey Google." If you wish to avoid using voice commands or have privacy concerns, it's easy to turn off the microphone using a physical sliding switch.   The Best TVs You Can Buy   Software and UI for the 55-inch Xiaomi Mi TV 5X Anyone who has previously used a Xiaomi television will be familiar with the software experience on the Xiaomi Mi TV 5X, much like they are with the remote. The television uses Android TV 10 with Xiaomi's customised PatchWall 4 launcher in addition to the basic Android TV user interface. Users have full access to the Google Play Store for Android TV to download any of the more than 5,000 accessible apps, and all popular apps are supported.   Since there are no actual manufacturer-imposed restrictions in this case, users of other Android TV devices will be familiar with the stock Android TV UI. When material is playing in the interface, you can access the settings by long-pressing the Mi   The majority of titles in PatchWall 4 have IMDB ratings integrated into them. Additionally, the information pages for titles with more information now have a fresh layout. The TV's settings, various source inputs, and any additional apps that you might have installed on the TV are all easily accessible through PatchWall.     Wall Mount or on a Stand? What You Need to Know Before Setting Up Your New TV   Due to its content-centric approach, PatchWall will appeal to users that love a lot of suggestions and content curation. It's also important to note that the Mi TV 5X supports the Mi Home app via the PatchWall launcher. If you have the Mi Home app linked to your Google account, you can use voice commands to control IoT devices in your home through your TV. If you own and utilise gadgets like the Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop P and Mi LED Wi-Fi Smart Bulb, this might be practical for you.   Mi TV 5X 55 from Xiaomi performance Aside from its appealing appearance and appealing features, the Xiaomi Mi TV 5X 55 is also well-suited to give a pleasurable viewing experience thanks to its value-driven design. For a 55-inch television around Rs. 50,000, picture and sound quality are excellent. They give the impression of a big screen TV while also performing well across resolutions and content kinds. However, I did occasionally experience lag and UI performance difficulties, which I'll go into more detail about in this section. Mi TV 5X 55 from Xiaomi performance High dynamic range (HDR) television with support for the HDR10+ and Dolby Vision formats is the Mi TV 5X 55. Given its 55-inch size, this TV is obviously best suited for high-end programming, such the Dolby Vision films and TV shows available on Netflix and Disney+ Hotstar, which looked noticeably better than everything else I viewed.   Dolby Vision: What Is It, and How Does It Make Your Movies and TV Shows Better? The Mi TV 5X made it fun to view the popular Korean TV show Squid Game in Ultra-HD and Dolby Vision on Netflix. The colours were refined and striking but didn't exactly pop as much as on more expensive TVs, giving the image a soft, laid-back feel. The television discreetly but effectively emphasised the vivid pinks and greens of the guards' and contestants' clothing.   The image is clear and detailed without being overly abrupt and rough. Smoothness pervaded Ultra-HD footage, while Dolby Vision content appeared even better thanks to brightness and contrast. On the Mi TV 5X, visually appealing programmes like Our Planet looked impressive.   The largest advantage of Dolby Vision on the Mi TV 5X was in the tone, even though there was a noticeable increase in brightness and the opportunity to have different levels of contrast and impact in the same frame with HDR material. The lighthearted Somebody Feed Phil appeared bright and joyful as Phil Rosenthal explored towns and their distinctive eateries, but this television typically captured the tone and flavour of TV episodes well. It gave a dismal, dark feel to shows like Squid Game and films like Greyhound on Apple TV+.   When it comes to black levels, many LED-backlit TVs, especially those that cost less than Rs. 50,000, have a tendency to stutter. While not nearly as stunning as televisions like the OnePlus TV Q1 Pro (which includes local dimming), the Mi TV 5X manages to handle darker scenes and black tones pretty well. The screen did have a slight grey wash, but it wasn't as strong or annoying as on the Redmi TV X55, which costs approximately Rs. 5,000 less than the Mi TV 5X. As a result, dimly lit rooms produced decent-looking dark movies, but brilliant sequences were still watchable when sunlight directly hit the TV. While normal dynamic range and standard definition video are obviously less appealing to watch than HDR, they were nevertheless watchable on the Mi TV 5X 55. The TV handled the older, upscaled footage of the Bulls' legendary championship runs and Michael Schumacher's F1 dominance in the 1990s particularly well. Other full-HD content on Netflix, including The Good Place, Parks and Recreation, and Schumacher, was enjoyable to watch. Across resolutions and content, this TV provided a viewing experience that was consistently bright, clear, and clean.   In typical viewing conditions, the Mi TV 5X's sound is comfortable and decent; the TV can get pretty loud thanks to its 40W speakers. Without too many abrupt volume changes, the sound is well-balanced and homogeneous. Interestingly, the Mi TV 5X does not enable Dolby Atmos identification by content platforms; Netflix and Disney+ Hotstar all showed capability for 5.1-channel audio at best. Dolby Atmos is supported on the TV and was activated with a slider switch in the sound settings menu.   Instead, it appears that this TV upscales the sound stream at the hardware level when Dolby Atmos is enabled. With the majority of content, this still made a small difference in the sound quality. While watching Squid Game, some virtualized surround effects could be heard, and generally, the audio felt a little more polished and detailed. The sound was good enough even with this off or with content that doesn't really benefit from the format. Having said that, a quality speaker system like the Sony HT-S40R, which I reviewed alongside this TV, could enhance the audio quality.   Despite the Mi TV 5X's typically good picture and sound quality and overall positive software experience, I did occasionally run across performance issues. These included sporadic Wi-Fi connection dropouts, sluggish reactions to button presses from the remote, and intermittent image lag and stuttering when streaming Ultra-HD material.   Additionally, I occasionally noticed subtitle timing issues, where the words would show on screen a second or two late but still clear on schedule. This made it challenging to follow along when watching foreign-language programming. Even while these problems weren't too unpleasant and were frequently resolved by turning the TV on and off again, they did occasionally occur, so they are worth mentioning. Read the full article
