Hi!! Hope you doing well. I wanted to ask you something: in your opinion, would the NH boys like music? Would they play musical instruments?

(this is not a request tho 😅 i just enjoy your stuff and i got curious about what you think)

hi! i'm doing well, thank you :) i answered this thinking about the historical era that they live in, like to me the setting of the game is like late 1800's to early 1900's so there's like no rock and roll or anything. but if you'd like for me to answer this again in like a modern standpoint let me know, i'd be happy to!! also sorry if this is heavily orchestra leaning, i wasn't a band kid

who likes music and plays an instrument

❧ kaim; right off the bat i just know that this man loves classical music. i also hc that he knows how to play either violin or viola in addition to the piano. he probably learned how to play in his younger years when he wasn't the head butler, and he would play to entertain the brothers sometimes

❧ mikael; another classical music lover, he just gives off those vibes. i feel like as a kid he learned to play an instrument but dropped it when he was like a teen or something cuz he lost interest or had other priorities, but sometimes he'll play it just for fun. for him i'm thinking piano or maybe harp? like something classy and graceful

❧ lucas; he's not super passionate about music but he still likes to play; it's a hobby that he's picked up over the years, and he's always been like really good at playing pretty much everything, but i feel like he'd like some sort of string instrument the most, it makes him feel fancy and flamboyant

who doesn't love music but can play an instrument

❧ lucia; being the eldest son in a noble family, i feel he was definitely put through some sort of music lesson. his parents probably wanted him to learn something classy like violin or piano, but mans wouldn't take lessons unless he could play something loud, like french horn or trumpet or something. he kinda enjoyed playing his instrument, but he loathed the lessons which ruined his attitude toward playing

❧ levy; like lucia, he was the son of noble parents so learning an instrument was just the thing to do. he also wanted follow what lucia was doing, but opted towards playing something quieter and more classy. i'm thinking maybe the flute? or i could even see him playing cello, like him playing bach's cello suite 1?? iconic. but his competition with lucia and his feelings of not being able to catch up or compare made him lose whatever passion he had for playing

❧ mefy; again with the noble family thing, but there wasn't as much pressure on him to master an instrument since he was the youngest and had two older brothers to make up for it. in order to spite his parents tho he worked hard to master playing the piano or viola, which i think suits him well. because he learned out of spite, he was never able to really form a deep connection with playing music so he just doesn't see what's so great about it

who likes music but can't play an instrument

❧ oswald; he thinks a lot of classical music is calming and admires how musicians can put so much emotion into their pieces. he obviously never got to learn how to play anything due to his situation growing up, but i think he'd secretly love to learn how to play. he's got big fingers so piano or smaller string instruments are out but maybe the bass or some type of brass instrument would be good for him

❧ kurt; he's a young worker so he's never had the time to sit down and learn how to play an instrument, but he's always loved the idea. he loves watching others play and would likely be down to try learning any instrument. at some point i feel like he'd bug kaim enough to teach him to at least learn the scales or hot cross buns on the piano

❧ ricardo; he doesn't mind music, he just personally thinks learning to play is a waste of time. there's nothing really special about it. if you play an instrument he'd listen to you play, and only likes your music best; he'd probably try to mess you up tho, like pressing on random keys or mock harmonizing and throwing you off

❧ noel; never learned how to play growing up, and even if he did he doesn't remember. and now he has other priorities than learning how to play. he doesn't mind it when music plays but he doesn't find anything special about it. he also doesn't understand what people mean when they say music shows emotion. like wdym?? music isn't sentient??
