It's been an interesting ride this past half year:

I am coming up on 6 months on HRT again after years of being off of it - with a caveat; for the first time I started taking progesterone as well and I'm already a month into the new routine.

And I cannot deny these results... 👀❤️‍🔥

The only thing I want to argue is that I'm finally feeling confident, grounded, and in my own skin enough that I intuitively feel that I am ready to pick up what the soul has been yearning for since I was a teen - to start a reiki practice. We were originally attuned as a teenager; went through level 1 a second time a decade later, and finished off training in 2017.

But there's a hitch that I've long suspected, and either felt too bashful to discuss openly, or the environment too hostile to try and open up.

I have DID, multiple personalities.

This is where it gets interesting, as the reiki master in our system of personalities is one of the alters - and she's a horny teen. She's got the energy and the lust to do it, but she's also an exposed nerve -a ball or raw and exposed primal energy that's untempered and feral.

So: Working out the ethics, logistics of being an energy healer while tempering strong primal feminine sexual healer desires at the same time... Not easy.

Meditation is the act of engaging in deep focus, reflection, or contemplation in order to achieve clarity and awareness. Meditation is an ancient practice that spans multiple spiritual traditions. It can be practiced as part of a religious path, as part of a spiritual practice like witchcraft, or as a secular activity to increase mindfulness. Anyone can meditate, and everyone can benefit from a daily meditation practice.

A study led by Harvard researchers found that meditation increases gray matter density in the hippocampus, the part of the brain associated with self-awareness, compassion, and introspection. The same study found that regular meditation decreased gray matter density in the amygdala, the part of the brain associated with stress and anxiety.

Daily meditation can reduce stress, decrease feelings of depression, enhance self-awareness, encourage a positive emotional state, and increase compassion for yourself and others. All of these benefits have been proven through scientific research.

Like we talked about in Chapter 1, meditation is important in witchcraft because it helps us to develop a greater awareness of our own energy and the energy around us. Developing an awareness of this energy is the first step in learning how to direct it through acts of magic.

In her book, Wicca for Beginners, author Thea Sabin says that witches can use mediation and other trance techniques, “to train their minds and work with their subconscious to harness their mental powers.”

Sabin explains that during meditation, we enter a light trance state, which is the state of consciousness between being awake and being asleep. This is what we mean when we talk about “zoning out.” According to Sabin, “During a trance, the conscious mind doesn’t quite leave — although sometimes it feels that way — but it’s occupied elsewhere, and the subconscious has freer reign.”

This allows us to tap into streams of energy or information that we may not be able to connect with when we are fully conscious. In many magic traditions, trance is also an important part of spellwork, so meditation can help you get used to slipping in and out of this state.

Meditation is also a crucial part of energy work. In an article for the International Center for Reiki Training, Laurelle Gaia says: “Meditation is the art of creating a quiet mind and listening to the sound of silence. Where prayer is the act of talking with the Divine, meditation is the act of listening and truly hearing what God has to share with us.”

That being said, you don’t have to believe in God to benefit from meditation. The force that Laurelle Gaia identifies as “God” can also be seen as your own higher Self, or as a manifestation of universal life energy. Whatever you choose to call it, this connection is able to provide a sense of clarity that we don’t often get in our busy lives.

An easy way to induce a meditative state — i.e., a trance — is with a visual trigger. You can do this by lighting a candle and focusing intently on the flame, or by watching incense smoke rise into the air.

Another option is to use repetitive sounds, like drumming, chanting, or binaural beats. There is a lot of meditation music available for free on YouTube, and that can also be a good option for helping yourself focus.

Special breathing techniques can also be used to reach a meditative state. One of the easiest of these is called square breathing. To practice square breathing, breathe in slowly for four counts, hold your breath for four counts, and then exhale slowly for four counts. Repeat this as many times as you need to reach a calm, focused state.

Once you’ve reached a meditative state, what do you do? This depends on the type of meditation you choose to practice, and the possibilities are literally endless.

My favorite type of meditation, and the one that I recommend for new witches, is what I like to call “the five minute energy check-in.”

Sit or lay down in a comfortable place, and use your favorite method to enter a meditative state. Once you find that state, imagine a thick root growing down from the base of your spine, into the earth; you may see this root in your mind’s eye, or you may feel it physically. Focus on the way that this root connects you to the earth, allowing you and the planet to share life energy in an endless, mutually beneficial relationship.

After a few moments of focusing on your connection to the earth, notice an energy of pure love and light entering your body through the crown of your head. This is the spiritual force that directs all the energy in the universe. It moves through you and fills you — it is a part of you and you are a part of it. See or feel this light slowly moving through your body, from the top of your head, down your neck, shoulders, arms, torso, legs, and feet. Feel it flowing down that root and into the earth.

As you do this, pay attention to the way the energy moves through your body. Is there anywhere in your body where the energy feels blocked, or doesn’t seem to flow as easily? Pay attention to these blockages, because they can clue you in on areas where you need to do some spiritual healing.

This is what I like to do, but there are lots of other ways to incorporate meditation into witchcraft. Some witches like to pull a tarot card each morning and spend a few minutes meditating on that card’s imagery and meaning. Other witches may meditate with a crystal, really focusing in and attuning themselves to that stone’s energy. Some witches do the same thing with trees or plants. You could also read a section of spiritual literature and then spend a few moments in meditation, deeply focusing on the meaning of what you read.

There are some people who believe that they can’t meditate. I hear a lot of people say that they can’t get their brains to shut up, or that they can’t make themselves stop thinking. These people misunderstand the purpose of meditation. You aren’t turning your thoughts off — you’re just quieting them and letting them fade into the background. When a thought comes up, acknowledge it, but then let it go. Some people find it helpful to think of their thoughts like clouds, drifting across the blue sky of the mind and then disappearing.

Other people say that they can’t meditate because they aren’t able to visualize things and see them in their minds’ eye. My response to these people is that you need to broaden your definition of what meditation is. Some types of meditation do rely on visualization, but other types do not. The type of meditation I do most often revolves around feeling the energy within and around your body. You don’t have to visualize anything for this type of meditation — you simply have to be aware of your own body.

Some people feel uncomfortable with how freeform meditation is, or feel like they would do better with something more structured. I encourage these people to try guided meditations — in a guided meditation, someone else walks you through the entire process, and these typically follow a more rigid formula. This can be a great way to get used to the feeling of meditating until you feel comfortable doing it on your own.

I challenge everyone reading this post to make a commitment to themselves to meditate for five minutes a day, five days a week. I’m not asking you to meditate for hours and hours, or to meditate every day. Five minutes, five days a week. I promise you will be amazed by how quickly this meditation practice changes your life and propels you forward on your spiritual journey.

Cleansing Tarot Cards

Why would you want to cleanse or bless your tarot cards?

If they’re used – Who knows who owned the deck. Was there negative, anxious, or obsessive energy surrounding their usage? It’s better to freshen them up, plus get them attuned to you as the new owner.

If someone else touched them – this is a bit of polarizing tarot folklore. Some tarot practitioners don’t let anyone touch their cards.

If you feel that your cards read differently after someone touches them, then don’t let folks touch them. Otherwise, it’s a personal preference –not a hard-fast rule. Do practice good tarot etiquette: ask first before touching someone else’s tarot deck.

If your readings are consistently negative or confusing – Maybe there’s weird energetic gunk attached to your cards that’s mucking up the reading. Reading on a negative situation may produce negative card outcomes. But sometimes you do get a funky, unexplainably negative vibe that needs clearing.

Reading too often on a subject can cause the readings to become confused. In that case, the common practice is to let the deck “rest” or restart by cleansing it.

You feel the need to reconnect with a deck – If your cards were stored away for a while, cleansing or clearing them is a great way to reconnect. The same goes for an older deck that you want to revisit.

How to Cleanse and Bless Your Tarot Cards

1. Smudging

One of the most popular methods for cleansing tarot cards is with incense or sage.

Many religious traditions burn incense in purification rituals. In the West, the more popular incenses used for cleansing are white sage, sweet grass or palo santo. Palo santo is my favorite with its woodsy and bright scent.

You can also use stick, cone, or loose incense. Choose an incense that has blessing or cleansing properties associated with it.

Some readers cleanse each card in their deck one at a time. But if you want to have one go at it with the whole deck, do that.

It’s also a good idea to cleanse yourself or your reading space to clear out any energy around you. Smudging yourself before and after readings (especially when reading for someone else) is a common practice with tarot readers.

If you like incense, but have terrible allergies and/or an intolerance to smoke, use cleansing sprays made from essential oils instead. Cleansing sprays work great.

You can find sprays in a variety of base oils –sage, palo santo, etc. Just spritz your space and yourself for that aura-cleansing-goodness to work. Be careful not to spray your cards directly or you’ll risk damaging them.

2. Under the Full Moon

Place your tarot decks in a window sill, or on a table, where the light of a full moon will hit them.

As the moon changes phases, it also moves through the twelve positions of the zodiac wheel. If you want to amp up the energy, you can also use the zodiac sign of the full moon to charge up your deck with an intention.

NoFor example, Capricorn has an affinity with business, career, and authority. For example, let’s say it’s a full moon in Capricorn. You could cleanse and charge your deck under that moon to imbue it with properties related to business and career.

That night, or the next day, you could read on business or career related matters for yourself or clients. Your deck would have a little extra oomph on subject matters ruled by Capricorn. But if that’s too complicated, plain old moonlight works fine too!

3. Sunlight

Like a moon bath, you can leave your cards out during a sunny day, or in a spot where they will receive ample sunlight.

I wouldn’t recommend this if you live in a humid environment – unless warped or bent cards don’t bother you. I’ve had cards warp from exposure to the late-afternoon sun, even indoors on my reading table.

Granted, I live in a hot and humid locale. Your mileage may vary! Still, this is a great method to use if you want to charge your cards with positive, radiant energy.

4. Singing bowl

If you have one, try it out. Some folks believe that the sound of the bowls can cleanse and attune people or objects. Place your deck in the bowl, or in the presence of the bowl, as you ring it.

5. Reiki

Reiki is an energy healing system that uses energy channeled through the hands. Traditionally, practitioners are certified in the system by a teacher or institution.

If you know Reiki, try it as a way of cleansing your cards. If you’re not certified in Reiki, try meditating with an intention while holding the cards in your hands.

6. Salt

Many readers swear by the salt method. Wrap your cards in plastic and bury the deck in a container of salt. If that idea resonates with you, try it. Personally, it seems too messy, along with risking damage to the cards.

Here’s a less messy suggestion: placing your cards on top of a Himalayan salt slab. You can find them in most large grocery stores.

7. Crystals

Crystals go with tarot like peanut butter and jelly. Using crystals to recharge and cleanse a deck is one of my favorite methods. Place a clear quartz point on top of your deck when not in use. Easy.

Some ideas for crystals that work well with cleansing tarot cards:

Clear quartz

Cleanses the deck. It also amplifies the energy of the cards

Selenite

Cleansing and connecting with spirit guides

Black tourmaline

Grounding. Absorbs negative energy

Amethyst

Same properties of quartz plus enhance psychic senses and intuition.

8. Knocking on the deck

That’s right. Knock three times on your tarot deck, as you would a door. I’ve had it explained to me that it both clears the cards and “wakes them up”. My inner animist loves this idea. This is definitely the quickest and easiest clearing method to use in a pinch.

9. Blowing on the cards

Using your breath for cleansing is an intriguing method. I don’t know the origin of this practice, but it reminds me of gambling folklore. There’s a tradition in the card game Baccarat where players will blow on the cards to remove bad luck. You’ll also see this practice in dice-based games where players blow on dice for good luck.

10. Visualization and meditation

Visualization or meditation techniques work well for cleansing tarot cards. Imagine a ball of light cleansing the cards or wind blowing away the residual energy. This can be done while shuffling or holding the deck in your hands.

Similarity, some readers recite prayers to cleanse and charge their cards. When developing a meditation or prayer for your cards, ask yourself what you want your deck to help you with. Some examples include: guidance from spirit or your higher self, to serve your clients, help with healing or shadow work, etc.

11. Reordering the deck and shuffling

This is one of my favorite methods to either get reacquainted to a deck that’s been in storage a while or meet a new deck.

To do this, reorder a shuffled deck with the Major Arcana first, followed by the Minor Arcana. So, for me, I start with the Fool at 0 and the World last at 22. Then I stack the suits from Ace to 10 with the court cards in order from Page, Knight, Queen to King. I put them all back in a stack (no preference on which suit comes first).

✨Starseed Witchcraft: 9 Cosmic Magick Practices for Starseed Witches✨

So you’re a starseed and a witch? Ah, so there’s more of us out there! But sometimes it seems witchcraft and “starseed” lightwork and healing don’t blend. Or at least there’s not a lot of information how to practice and acknowledge both aspects of ourselves. SO in this article, we provide our Starseed family who also identify as the Wise Ones or Witches how to mix starseed and witchcraft practices together fluidly.

First, What is a Starseed Witch?

A starseed witch is an individual who considers themselves a starseed AND a witch. So we’ll have to define both to explain. A starseed is an individual whose soul has incarnated on other planets, in other solar systems or other dimensions who is now living a human existence on Earth. A witch is an individual who practices the old ways and perpetuates an ancient wisdom in modern times through herbalism, divination, a deep connection with Mother Nature, intuition and much more. To put it simply witch = wise one. Furthermore, when a starseed soul is also called to practice witchcraft, they are a starseed witch. See? Not too confusing, I hope!

Ways to Practice Starseed Witchcraft

What if you want to incorporate more of your past interstellar incarnations into your current witchcraft practice? Can this be done? OF COURSE. They are infinitely tied together, after all. As above, so below. Generally speaking, you’ll take your cosmic interests and weave them into your witchcraft practice. There’s so many ways to do this but we will cover 7 here.

1. Ancient Cosmic Studies

The first way to practice starseed witchcraft is to STUDY UP on ancient civilizations and their beliefs about the stars and other planets. For example, look up the ancient Egyptians beliefs about Orion, how the pyramids align with it, etc. The Pleiades: research the ancient Norse peoples’ beliefs about stars. Read about the Dogon tribe’s knowledge of Sirius. If any of this information resonates deeply, you may tap into which star system from which you originate.

2. Astrology

Astrology is easy to incorporate into your witchcraft practice and links you directly to your starseed origins too! If you don’t know yet, look up your sun, moon and rising signs. Get your birth chart analyzed. Follow the major astrological events and how they affect the earth. Practice magic on big astrological events such as on eclipses, meteor showers, solar flares, etc. Any practice linking your witchcraft and the stars is integral to starseed witchcraft!

3. Decorate With the Stars

Add cosmic decorations to your sacred space and altar. Altar cloths with stars and galaxies, candle holders with moons and stars, and artwork depicting cosmic goddesses, etc. are a perfect way to incorporate your starseed origins into your spiritual practice by changing the ambiance. WEAR stars, moons, and suns on your clothing and jewelry to match your human exterior with your cosmic interior!

4. Meditation and Astral Projection

I’ve found meditation to be helpful when discovering your starseed origins. It’s also helpful for witches to learn how to visualize and to open your third eye. Try chakra balancing meditations, third eye opening meditations, and there are even guided starseed meditations for free on YouTube. In addition, astral projection is a method of leaving your body to explore other worlds and realms. Want to visit the planet you first incarnated on? Astral projection can take you there and anywhere in the universe.

5. Crystals

The earth is an ancient living being and her history has been written in stone. Many starseed witches have a deep love of and connection to crystals. This is because crystals carry ancient earth memories and healing energetic vibrations. Recommended crystals for starseed witches include: Lemurian seed crystals, lapis lazuli, quartz, and turquoise. Learn how to meditate with crystals to tap into their ancient secrets AND how to align your chakras.

6. Find Your Starseed Origins

If you haven’t yet, now’s the time to search for your starseed origin planet. Your soul incarnated for the first time somewhere in the Universe…but where? Are you an Orion starseed? Pleiadian? Andromedan? Or do you come from somewhere closer to home like Venus or Mars? There’s SO much to explore when it comes to the types of starseeds, and chances are you may have incarnated in more than one star system. Explore the types of starseeds, their traits, and see if any of these resonate with you. Once you figure out your origins, you can dive into further research and integrate your origins with your witchcraft practice. You’ll also learn what your mission is here on earth WHICH IS CRUCIAL!

7. Divination

As witches, we use different types of divination to communicate with our higher selves, gods and goddesses, ancestors, and angels. But what about using divination to communicate with otherworldly beings? Using a specific deck of cards, runes, or ancient symbols to open a channel of communication with other star-beings will enhance your growth as a starseed witch and connect you to the realms outside of our own here on earth. Always be sure to cleanse your tools and space before and after contact. Pray for protection from your guides before and after. When I awakened as a starseed in 2012, one of the first questions that I asked was about man’s origins. I found myself nodding my head to the ideas of evolution and the big bang, but what about all the parts in between with man’s evolution that we know nearly nothing about? This research may take you to lost civilizations and ancient cultures…both of which you can incorporate into your witchcraft practice. How does this relate to starseeds, you might be thinking. 9. Reiki and The Violet Flame

If you have the money, get Reiki attuned. Starseed witches can benefit from Reiki for a number of reasons: a. it helps open your chakras, b. it clears negative residues and attachments from your aura, c. it opens you up spiritually to other dimensions and your guides. If anything, learn about the violet flame and how to use it. All is energy and starseed witches know how to harness and use energy to benefit the universe.

10. Look Up!

Take the time to get to know the heavens above. Go outside and look at the stars and the moon. Can you identify any of the stars? Do you see any planets? What phase is the moon in? Do you see any constellations? To further enhance your experience, use a telescope AND download a star-viewing app like Skyview. These apps will show you all of the constellations in the sky right from your phone and help you identify them easily.
