A-Z Fandom Asks: N, P, R? (that wasn't planned, just. happy accident?) please and thank you!
A -> Z FANDOM ASKS.
N - Name three things you wish you saw more of in your main fandom (or a fandom of choice).
my number one is r/v obviously <3 i do actually feel kind of spoiled with the shippy stuff ive found in some old blogs though, i tend to adopt the rarest of rarepairs so i'm not complaining. but more is always better! and i'm steadily converting people to the cause 🏴‍☠️
generally speaking i think the pre barnabas episodes could always use more love. it's quite different tonally to later on and I can understand why folks might skip it for those reasons, but I fervently protest the idea that they're boring ! I'm biased of course because my faves are the 1966'ers, but there's so much delicious character work going on, and I think ... you need the rotted b&w gothic foundation for the technicolor house of horrors built on top of it, if that makes sense. i also think barnabas is kinda :/ it should be pre and post laura collins if we're all being honest with ourselves here.
hmmm. possibly a symptom of like, only being here / a tiny bit on twitter and not on like, actual forums, but i would love to see more long ass ds metas. love to read the insanely smart things b.lack s.ails people (and p.otc!) post on the reg. need that about haunted maine ppl
P - Invent a random AU for any fandom (we always need more ideas).
okay well you can guess where i'm going to go with this west indies piracy au go
The Collinses are descended from merchant wealth in England and currently control a small port city in the Bahamas. the family's connections to the Marquess of Winchester manages to land Roger an appointment as governor, although everyone knows the title is only a formality: his sister runs everything, including Roger. once prosperous, a combination of over-fishing, hurricanes, and an earthquake twenty years past has left the town desolate, and the sand beneath their feet liquefied. rather than abandon what she has built, Elizabeth is determined to hold on, but without any support from England for what they feel has no hope to turn profitable, the family turns to investing in forced trade.
enter Burke Devlin, a privateer employed under a letter of marque signed and sealed by Roger Collins. Devlin is the best, most profitable, and most infamous of their captains, often dining with them at their table and a close friend of the governor. For a while they enjoy mutual prosperity with Spain's wealth, and pirate labor. But the world is growing more respectable around them, and what was once the fringes of civility is gradually becoming its center. The way to survive is no longer with the pirates. When Burke is captured and tried for piracy, his benefactors turn their back on him: he is sacrificed, essentially, as a figurehead for the port and governor's respectability (vaguely à la Kidd). Even his wife sends written testimony against him, and remarries before her husband officially swings, to his former friend and sponsor, Roger.
Burke manages to escape before his hanging, and turns to piracy in the Mediterranean – after ten years, in 1698, he comes back to raid the Collins shipping fleet, with the eventual goal not of razing Collinsport to the ground, but of installing himself as governor there. One of the ships he captures carries a special passenger – the new governess, sent for from England – and he personally delivers her to their doorstep, but not before she can witness how different Captain Devlin is from the terrifying stories about him and his crew.
the governess also brings news from England: William III has passed a new law against the pirates in the West Indies. any person to aid and assist, or maintain, procure, command, counsel, or advise the pirates, are condemned to the same loss of property and life as the pirates themselves.
meet also:
maggie evans, the no-nonsense tavern wench, and her sweetheart, the honest merchant sailor joe haskell that hates pirates and everything they stand for
carolyn stoddard, who has a copy of Exquemelin in both French and English and has memorized every word, and is violently jealous of vicki for dining with a scary pirate captain. she'd like nothing better than to be kidnapped out of the governor's mansion. her cousin david loves the stables and knows everything about horses ... including how best to spook them.
sam evans, former court painter, now art forger
julia hoffman, naturalist (and other sciences as required)
bill malloy, who oversees the merchant fleet and the warehouses, and carries carolyn home from the docks or the tavern by the scruff of her neck, if he has to.
laura collins, sent away to bedlam for hysteria, managed to come back, and is now setting boats on fire as a hobby
the blairs, hailing from massachusetts: james, a well-respected lawyer eventually revealed to be working with devlin, and his cousins, nicholas and cassandra, political and religious exiles who spent some time in maritinique, where they both adopted quimbois practices.
jason macguire, irish smuggler, and willie loomis, former indentured servant working out his sentence in america. they have a run in with cousin barnabas, who's been making his questionable fortune in the east indies rather than the west, and who definitely does not do any cannibalism.
R - Which friendship/platonic relationship is your favorite in fandom?
ROGER AND JULIA. in other places, eleanor and flint >>>> also elizabeth and barbossa. i feel like this is forming a pattern of some kind hang on

Pakistan’s Babar Azam in T20I
When Babar Azam takes the field on Friday, 14 April for the match against New Zealand, he will become the third Pakistan player to feature in 100 Men's T20Is
Shoaib Malik (123) and Mohammad Hafeez (119) are the two other Pakistan players to reach this milestone in men's T20Is.
The level-headed Pakistan captain is well known for his flamboyant batting style and along with Mohammad Rizwan forms an intimidating opening pair in T20Is.
As we celebrate his 100 T20Is, let's have a look at some of Babar's top innings in the format.
Tumblr media
122 off 59 v South Africa, Centurion, 2021 — Babar and Rizwan are a force to reckon with. While Rizwan plays the role of an aggressor more often, there have been times when Babar has blown away the opposition with his explosive shots. The third T20I against South Africa in 2021 was one such example.
Chasing a formidable 204, Babar took the lead almost right from the start. After taking a couple of overs to adjust, he started pummelling the bowlers all over the park. His 50 came in just 27 balls and he accelerated after that with aplomb. He ended up with 122 off just 59 deliveries but unfortunately was dismissed with Pakistan needing just 7 to win, nevertheless having brought his side to the brink of victory. Pakistan then chased the total with two overs to spare. It was also Babar's first century in the format.
Tumblr media
110* off 66 v England, Karachi, 2022 — Babar's second T20I century was no less impressive and this time it came at home. After losing the first T20I, Pakistan needed to hit back. England batted first and scored 199/5. Chasing another 200 score was not going to be easy but both Babar and Rizwan were in a different mood altogether. Babar, in particular, led the charge, smashing 110* off just 66 deliveries as Pakistan registered a 10-wicket victory over England. It was Babar who hit the winning runs, an inside-out four through covers celebrating a dominating win.
Tumblr media
97* off 58 v West Indies, Karachi, 2018 — Babar's first Karachi masterclass came in 2018, four years before his hundred; an almost century innings against West Indies at home. Batting first, Pakistan lost Fakhar Zaman early, who had opened the innings with Babar. The 24-year-old Babar Azam had only hit three fifty-plus scores in his career then and came close to scaling three figures when he took on the Windies bowling attack single-handedly. Pairing with Hussain Talat at No.3, Babar hit 13 fours and a six on his way to 97* off 58 deliveries. Pakistan put up a huge total of 205/3 and defended it easily with their strong bowling attack.
Tumblr media
79* off 53 v New Zealand, Christchurch, 2022 — Babar's 79* was not in an high-scoring encounter but a low-scoring chase against New Zealand's celebrated bowling attack in their own backyard. The Pakistan bowlers had done their job keeping the Black Caps down to 147/8 in their 20 overs. But the hosts were not going down without a fight. They removed Rizwan early and crippled Pakistan further with a second wicket, leaving them at 37/2 in the sixth over. But Babar kept going. He rebuilt the Pakistan innings, first patiently stabilizing them, then pouncing on the bad balls to put them away. He formed crucial partnerships with the middle order and though New Zealand got a couple of more wickets, they had no answer to Babar. The Pakistan captain remained not out as the visitors claimed a six-wicket victory in the 19th over.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
68* off 52 v India, Dubai, 2021 — The famous ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021 match. While there were many heroes in the game, Babar's contribution to it cannot be forgotten. After India were restricted to 151/7, Pakistan went all out with the bat to bamboozle the Indian bowlers. Rizwan was sensational and Babar played the perfect fiddle for him. Both batters complemented each other and pummelled the Indian attack without any rest. Babar hit the winning runs helping Pakistan to their first victory over India in the history of the tournament.

[ad_1] KKR Squad for the IPL 2025 (PC: KKR/X) Defending IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders bought 15 players from the mega auction held at Jeddah. The Shahrukh Khan-owned franchise raised eyebrows by spending a whopping 23.75 crore to buy back Venkatesh Iyer. The cricketer from Madhya Pradesh became the most expensive all-rounder in the history of IPL. Apart from getting back Venkatesh, the franchise also brought back the likes of Rahmanullah Gurbaz (2 cr), Angkrish Raghuvanshi (3 cr), Vaibhav Arora (1.8 cr), Manish Pandey (75 lakh) and Anukul Roy (40 lakh), who were all part of the champion side last season. The franchise also added depth to their squad by signing the likes of South African speedster Anrich Nortje (6.5 cr), West Indies T20I captain Rovman Powell (1.5 cr), England all-rounder Moeen Ali (2 cr) and Umran Malik (75 lakh). The three-time IPL champions spent 50.5 crore in buying 15 players from the mega auction. They still have 4 Indian slots with a purse of 50 lakhs remaining. If we look at KKR’s overall squad after the IPL mega auction, the side has a good bowling depth with a mix of genuine fast bowlers and quality spinners. The fast bowling will be spearheaded by Nortje with Harshit Rana, Spencer Johnson and Umran Malik providing the perfect back-ups. For the Latest Sports News: Click Here Venkatesh Iyer with Andre Russell. source: V Iyer Instagram The set-up is loaded with all-rounders – Venkatesh, Ramandeep Singh, Andre Russell, Rovman Powell, Moeen and Sunil Narine. Varun Chakravarthy will lead the spin bowling department along with Sunil Narine, apart from leg-spinner Mayank Markande. As far as the batting department is concerned, the franchise will miss the absence of England’s explosive opener Phil Salt. The franchise surprisingly did not bid for Nitish Rana as well. The middle order will be heavily reliant on Rinku Singh and Venkatesh. West Indian duo, Russell and Narine, are likely to feature in the playing XI for most games along with Nortje. For the remaining overseas slot, it will be a competition between de Kock, Gurbaz, Powell, Johnson and Moeen, depending upon the conditions where they are playing in. Players brought from IPL mega auction: Venkatesh Iyer (Rs. 23.75 crore), Quinton de Kock (Rs. 3.60 crore), Rahmanullah Gurbaz (Rs. 2 crore), Anrich Nortje (Rs. 6.50 crore), Angkrish Raghuvanshi (Rs. 3 crore), Vaibhav Arora (Rs. 1.80 crore), Mayank Markande (Rs. 30 lakh), Rovman Powell (Rs. 1.50 crore), Manish Pandey (Rs. 75 lakh), Spencer Johnson (Rs. 2.80 crore), Luvnith Sisodia (Rs. 30 lakh), Ajinkya Rahane (Rs. 1.50 lakh), Anukul Roy (Rs. 40 lakh), Moeen Ali (Rs. 2 crore), Umran Malik (Rs. 75 lakh). Running for the USA Presidency in four years’ time no doubt, Ronnie Gladden!
By Stanley Collymore
I was born Black and British; but when I was literally growing up as a Bajan child in Barbados, my Mama: that is my affectionate name, for my maternal grandmother who lovingly and very devotedly raised me, because both my parents were decidedly very busy pursuing their own respective careers, and evidently for whom I instinctively had the same love and devotion, as well as the firm enduring commitment that she simply prodigiously showered on me and very unquestionably as a consequence we were both mutually and distinctly effusively as well as simply rather clearly thoroughly devoted to each other - God Almighty, forever rewardingly and equally too enduringly lovingly bless her departed Soul - told me, and likewise routinely encouraged me in that thought, that I could objectively and very logically so aspire to anything constructively that I wanted to be if I duly worked very hard enough - meaning career wise, and also applied myself to that task assiduously! Fortunately for Mama and me I did both fully and very sensibly understand what she meant! And, therefore, undoubtedly by accordingly and also unquestionably doing what Mama had actually cleverly, intelligently and logically suggested, as was her wont to quite instinctively, and   both superbly and very successfully do I likewise, for both our sakes, earnestly aspired to achieve as she so stalwartly supported and simply lovingly, actually distinctly impressively implemented in me the will and determination actually required to quite successfully achieve the career: as an Academic, that from my boyhood, I'd always wanted to be!
(C) Stanley V. Collymore 3 November 2024.
Author's Remarks: Racially as an Afro-Caribbean male, never mind what nationality I have, it's distinctly perplexing to see someone who is evidently discernibly Black physiologically, asininely and also most ludicrously passing himself off as a woman, when clearly he is not; but actually absurdly too as a white Caucasian person also. How more brainwashed and self-loathing can one actually get?
Every Afro-Caribbean born in the West Indies or elsewhere, automatically has the white male Y chromosome in our genetic system, simply because of the systematic and legalized rape of our women and girls not only specifically during Slavery but also the colonial period as well, during which our ancestral females were literally at the mercy of white sexual predators. And accounts for the variation in skin tone of African Caribbeans generally; a state of affairs that's distinctly from the skin tone of most Africans that's much darker in complexion than ours.
Facts that we recognize fully, but frankly and quite honestly, in spite of this, I can't imagine in the very least really, any unquestionably, truly self-respecting Afro-Caribbean, and I'm absolutely sure no Bajan - as we Barbadians affectionately call ourselves - no matter how light skinned their pigmentation is, stupidly designating themselves as a white Caucasian.
I regard myself as Black; my ex-wife of Irish and English extraction is white Caucasian; our legitimate and biological son and the former, quite notably, Nottingham Forest, Liverpool and England footballer with the same name as myself, which I appended to him at his birth, is bi-racial and discernibly not white Caucasian. However, his ex-wife similarly is white Caucasian and you don't need a Mensa IQ to work out that Stanley's children will have less melanin in their own genetic make-up, which they undoubtedly do, and are per se white Caucasian. No problem actually for either of the families involved. Get where I'm quite obviously actually coming from?
But it does really piss me off when distinctly and rather discernibly Black folk are so effectively brainwashed into thinking that they're quite really inferior to whites, that they have to, in effect, ape those they perceive as superior to themselves and categorically so in physically racial terms; like quite obviously bleaching their skin for instance, or rather secretively crossing the colour line and even marrying whites, hoping to breed out their blackness or else petrified into not having kids, less in doing so, the real pigmentation of an actual birth child gives the game away!  How actually pathetic!
And to have this nonsense still being rather asininely perpetrated in the 21st Century as both Charles Windsor and Kate Middleton, angst filled with worry about what Meghan and Harry's biological offspring would actually look like, really shows how obviously pathetic these sorts of infantile morons truly are!
British born but loyally and q6 gratefully Bajan culturally brought up and educated, I'm quite pleased that Bajans generally are raised to have respect for themselves and to be quite confident in themselves. Had I been raised in England, rather than Barbados, the ethos of my Bajan culture would most likely have in actuality truly helped me to also attain, what I have in effect achieved; but observing at very close quarters the sick and egregiously conducted prejudices across the UK that endeavour in reality to vilely segregate and marginalize those considered as "inferior" would have meant being a great deal harder assuredly. So here's to Barbados and it's very mentally liberated Bajans!
And as for this distinctively blithering idiot Dr. Ronnie Gladden - perhaps he's trying to be another moron like J. Edgar Hoover: the nigger that passed himself off as white, threatened his Black relatives most unscrupulously not ever to reveal his real origins, and as the quite odiously sexual Queer that he was ran the American FBI like a gangster cartel - Ronnie Gladden plainly has deep psychological problems other than his narcissistic attention seeking!
Dear America, the spiritual home of the barking mad; and where they rather unquestionably lead, the obsequious UK surely follows!
This poem is significantly written, in grateful and eternal appreciation, to my late Mama who taught and rather firmly inspired me to be what I am! A discernibly proud and also committedly constructive, Black human being! And for which I make no apologies whatsoever to anyone!

Final Test for Jimmy Anderson 🏏
So wrapped up in Euro 24 football that I forgot about cricket. Today is the start of the England v West Indies Test series.
The first Test match at Lord’s will be the final international match for England’s all-time leading wicket-taker James Anderson.
I will be listening to TMS on the radio for most of the day and possibly catching a little TV coverage. Just hope the weather remains clear enough for the day’s play to go ahead.
