Officecore.

Picture the scene: an open plan. PCs (specifically PCs) equipped with Windows 98, a fax machine, shredded tin foil and the crumbs of homemade ham sandwiches littered across the desk, workspace dividers for colleagues to lean over and chat with mug in hand (unsolicited), an assortment of names such as Sandra, Michael, and Stephen, wheely chairs, crumpled white shirts, artificial plants, your very own novelty mug that reminds you, eternally, that you are with stupid. All this can be yours and more when you embrace all that is beige, bulky, and office to the core. 

It seems you really can yearn for anything. And with the pandemic reducing us to mere home dwellers for the best part of two years, it seems the stale romance of the office really is real. They are easy to mock, sure, but office spaces do indeed possess a unique look, feel, and energy—a vibe, if you will, and indeed must. That is why today we are reluctantly celebrating all that is #officecore.

Hi Jade!

Before I forget, thank you for the ask. I do believe you are my first!

I saw this earlier today, but I was working with my brother on the crafts we are preparing for a craft show in a few weeks. Because I saw it earlier, and I am running on about two hours of sleep, I have been thinking about this ALL day, along with the original post (about gossiping about OCs like they are coworkers). That made me think of a "Water Cooler" series, where all the OCs are just there and talk together. Probably something that has been around already, but best way to describe it.

Boss: Author/Writer/Creator

Areas include the fantasy department in the front right corner of the building, the science fiction department in the front left, with the co-op teams between the departments situated in the middle of the two.

Horror is in the back left, with dark gothic a sub-division and again, a co-op team between them and sci-fi. And in the back right, the underfunded area is the historical and normal fiction OCs.

All around the middle of the office is the romance department since they work hand-in-hand with all of the other departments.

Part of the back right section is the part-timers and contract workers (serialized fiction and short stories OCs, respectively,) to fill in the area that the fiction OCs could not. Their desks were by the bathrooms (cause you are either the furthest away from them or right next to them, it seems)

Did we mention this is a two story office? With a spiral staircase to a completely glass office right in the middle where everyone can see. The boss has no privacy from these OCs and takes all complaints and pop-up meetings when demanded, unlike the OCs below.

In the way back of the office, a hallway goes into the rooms that if anyone goes back there, they get lost and never escape. This is where the forgotten OCs go. The not-back rooms. >.>

And, of course, next to the stairs to the hamster cage above, is the water cooler where everyone goes to talk and gossip.

Why did I have to do this? I was bored while trying to paint spicy faces on snowmen, so I had time to think about it.

So, to answer your question, YES! I would love to gossip about my OCs!

My two part-time OCs are taking up more of my attention and urges to write scenes with them as the main focus...but they are core side characters. They are not the main characters or the focus on this series! Damn those two yummy and interesting side characters for being so distracting!
