CH 5

“You can't deport me!! I'm. A. C-citizen! Hey! Open this gate back up y-y-you zealots!!” 

She banged on the wooden gate that was encased in stone with her fists, her tail bristled as she took a deep breath, “You can't leave me out here to die!!!” 

A door opened to her left from the trader's checkpoint. The old creaking door joint was accompanied by a dry laugh. 

“Oi! Come off it lass. Those stuffy elezen fuckers don't care for ya. You'd need to be at least three feet taller and lose your fur. How about this? You can come back with me, help me load up my wagon, and I'll give you a ride with my crew to Gridania.” The man gestured up the snowy path where his wagon sat at a stone and metal gate, a broken wheel was being replaced on the wagon by two shivering Lalafell.

She looked back towards the fella that had the air of a merchant type. The hyur had clean clothes and a young roguish smile that made him appear younger than he was. The man didn't let her consider his offer long, “We need to hustle unless some rogue scalekin or Ixali finds our lot with our hands full though, come now.” He stuffed some papers in his left pocket and rubbed his arms to stave off the chill. She turned back towards the gate, 

“You apparel stealing brigands! Throwing me out like this–these aren’t even my clothes!!!” Not a single guard gave her any sympathy. She dropped her shoulders in defeat and began to follow the merchant down the snowy path away from the city and down the icy hill towards the wagon. Her mind raced with twenty dozen angry thoughts, she couldn't help it, she stomped her foot and turned around, she could still see the guards patrolling the wall and she knew their pointy ears would hear her.

“I'll be back! And you'll be sorry you kicked me out on my arse! You HEAR THAT?! I'M COMING BACK!” 

One of the elezen guards posted outside of the gate ignored her. He was busy tying a bag to the end of his spear. He leaned back, and with a mighty sweep of his spear, the bag was sent flying from the pole and towards her. She gasped, seeing her bag of belongings fly free from the sack used to vault it at her, and splat into the snow a dozen ilm away. 

“You’re still an arsehole!” She yelled towards the guard.

Adding to yesterday's theme, here's another Final Fantasy commission piece I've done! (*°ヮ° *) I already knew I liked the Black Mage style from the little bits I'd seen of the various games, and I was particularly requested the gorgeous ornate style of games like FFXIV. I love the detail!

thank you for making the point about innate traits, because so often i see people go "but the ancients WERE better than the sundered" and completely missing the point that "superiority" should never, never determine who should get a chance at life. it's the bit that trips people up the most but that makes it also, imo, THE most important part

so i very appreciate you putting that into words. excellent post all round.

YEAHHHHHHG 🤝🤝🤝🤝🤝 thank you I’m glad you found some value in it. there was this anime that was otherwise kind of mid a long time ago where at the end one of the main characters, bloodied and bruised and victorious, says something like “sorry, but us weaklings are going to keep living” and climbs off the hell-train of the setting and I think xiv/endwalker captures that particular cathartic acceptance really well. I love finding other people who are like *pointing and snot sobbing* YEAHHHHHHHH about this part so ty for this message
