wtw relationships week → protagonist & antagonist (ft. deuteragonist)
↳ Fenice + Aretos
They're cousins, at least if Aretos is who he truly says he is. And if he is, then they are in direct competition for the throne Fenice desires so much. They developed an unlikely friendship in Hesperia, when Aretos masqueraded as the enigmatic noble Sartore Vitae. Fenice often relied on his counsel and information to help bring Isidore under her thumb. Aretos, meanwhile, sees a lot of himself in Fenice, almost the the point of intense projection. He sees Fenice as an ally in his own vengeance against Dantalion, if only he could make her see that for herself.
↳ Fenice + Nike
They're bound for eternity in holy matrimony. Neither of them are happy about it, but their happiness hardly matters when politics is thrown into the mix. But their status as husband and wife doesn't change the fact that they, and their families, are bloody enemies. Fenice must watch her back against any of Nike's schemes, constantly aware of the viper that sleeps in her bed each night. Nike must sacrifice his pride and be subservient to the daughter of his enemy to protect his younger sister, but he cannot simply standby as his 'wife' plans to kill his brother.
↳ Nike + Aretos
Aretos and Nike have a working relationship. Aretos is one of the powers supporting Nike's brother from the shadows, and ever since Nike's marriage Aretos has been working as the liaison between the two Deominos brothers. But despite this, Nike knows Aretos is the furthest thing from a friend or ally.

Noah is a gamer, a hacker, a sit around for another movie kind of guy. He has a weak stomach, a very picky set of tastes, and doesn’t handle foul odors very well. He’s what you would consider the comic relief of a story. He’s the goofy guy, the one who doesn’t think through things quite right, the guy always cracking a joke. He wouldn’t know someone was flirting with him if they were hitting him upside the face...And he loves his best friend more than anything in the world.
An avid lover of horror movies and occasional frequenter of the dark web, Noah isn’t the kind of guy you would expect to be the hero of a story. So maybe it’s a good thing that he isn’t really shaping up to be the hero. Not of everyone’s story. Just of his best friend’s story. See, Noah is goofy, and he’s easily frightened, and he’s not the most bold guy in the world. He’s a terrible liar but a decent shot with a gun, and when it comes down to it—when it really comes down to it—Noah would do anything to take care of Hunter.
Even skew his own morals. At heart, that’s the focus of SHED. Watching Noah become a different person and seeing how he picks up that line in the sand and then throws it somewhere else, just to pretend everything is normal. Does he end up with bloodied hands by the end of the book? Absolutely. But he never thinks twice about it.

WTW PLANET PROMPTS - MERCURY: LOCATIONS
Tumblr media
Kingdom of Farosek
Ruled by the royal family of Vexin, Farosek is an archipelago with a diverse population. Loyal shifters, clever faeries, and the hot-blooded drakon call the lands of these islands home. In the surrounding waters swim the selkie-folk guided by the steady hand of their ancient queen and ever at odds with the mischievous and dangerous sirens who roam the coasts. Even the enchanting mer can be seen further out at sea from time to time, playing among the sapphire waves.

WTW VALENTINE'S WEEK - Day 3 - Eros "Passionate Love"
'Like always, I can't help but marvel the way they can speak to one another without uttering a single sound. One of them only has to look at the other or rest a light touch on the other's wrist and the unspoken word passed.' - Alekks
‘You’re not going to lose me. Never again.' The words aren’t levelled carelessly. The determination in his voice moves me to reach out, take his hand in mine. ‘I know. And you won’t lose me. We’re rather stuck with one another, you and I.’ ‘Don’t forget that, Nikolasha.’ He kisses me again. ‘Now, will you stop making declarations for five minutes and please put on clothes?’

WTW PLANET PROMPTS – VENUS: POLITICS
theocracy ; 1. a form of government in which God or a deity is recognized as the supreme civil ruler, the God's or deity's laws being interpreted by the ecclesiastical authorities 2. a system of government by priests claiming a divine commission 3. a commonwealth or state under such a form or system of government
Throughout the Age of Water, a theocracy rules over most of the Ibra river valley and the surrounding area. Despite it being an Age of Water, with the Mother in exaltation, male clergy still lead the Church. A council of 15 elder clergy members, normally one or two from surrounding regions, interpret divine messages spoken through the Vessel. This is normally a man, woman, or child who serves as a physical manifestation of the Age. During Burning of the Apiary, a Woman of the Faith currently acts as the Vessel.
These head clergy members take the Mother's messages (spoken through the Vessel) and use them to create the Doctrine, which dictates everything from marriage and modesty codes. Decrees are often sent out within a day of receiving a message, and all municipalities must comply as soon as possible.

WTW PLANET PROMPTS - VENUS: POLITICS - godslayer
The Exarchy is an interstellar theocratic empire ruling over the vast expanse of the Ecumene. Being the largest and most powerful political entity in the known space, it is the ultimate authority for the majority of humankind. Following the angels' assault on humanity, the Church gained unparalleled political power, with the Inquisition assuming the dual roles of defense against cosmic threats and maintaining social order. The Holy Synod, governing both the Church and the Inquisition, holds absolute authority over the Exarchy, while the Exarch serves largely ceremonial roles. Entrusted with the ultimate fate of humanity, the Synod determines the course of affairs in its struggle for survival. However, maintaining a centralized government over interstellar distances is impossible, even with faster-than-light travel and communication. This has resulted in a neo-feudal structure within the Exarchy, where the noble dynasties of the Great Houses are responsible for various functions of the empire. Headed by the seven Archons, these Great Houses comprise the Synkletos, the senate of the Exarchy. This body carries out the day-to-day decisions required to govern the Exarchy according to the Synod’s will.

WTW FEAST OF FRIGHT - DAY 1: Jack o' lantern
Write a 250-500 word character study for your protagonist
268 words
Not super pleased with it but Kadmos is being Kadmos.
Tumblr media
It was a cold winter night, and Kadmos was wandering.
The first snow had fallen a few days ago, but it had melted now, and the streets just glistened wetly under the streetlights. It wasn’t warm, though, not by a long shot, so Kadmos kept moving.
In truth, he should probably go to Berndt. He’d be welcomed in, he knew that — Berndt would even be glad he had the good sense to come. If his phone hadn’t been dead, odds were he had a text for him with an invitation, worry thinly veiled under some other excuse for him to go.
But he was fine. He couldn’t constantly rely on his friends to take care of him, and they shouldn’t have to. He’d be fine. The weather had turned mild, anyway. Tomorrow, when the library opened, he’d sneak in there and get rid of the cold creeping into his coat.
Yet, despite it all, he found his feet had carried him to Nuri’s street, and slowed down as he passed by the apartment block.
The light was on behind the balcony his eyes landed on every time. It must be past midnight. Nuri was studying late, or lost in some sewing project, or something sillier.
Kadmos found himself pausing, imagining Nuri’s hands, much warmer than his, running some fabric through the sewing machine, his eyes focused, a strand of hair pulled loose from behind his ear.
He, too, would be happy to welcome Kadmos in.
He didn’t even have to look to find Nuri’s doorbell among the several dozen by the door.
He only needed to ring.

WTW PLANET PROMPTS - Venus: Politics
“Your Royal Highnesses.” The chieftain turned first to Teodema and then to Keroesa in turn. “Clan Hea sends its blessings in honor of your union, Prince Teodema. And my wife and I send our thanks for the pleasure of these festivities.” “I receive your blessings joyously,” Teo nodded, “but you must thank my Father in regards to the hospitality.”
The Clans of Siruna
Merim, like all kingdoms in Siruna, is a highly hierarchical society. At the highest level, a monarch has absolute authority over the whole of the kingdom, but beneath them is a complex system of clans and tribes.
Every Sirunan claims descent from a specific clan, of which there are likely hundreds spread across the eleven kingdoms. Clans are, essentially, extended family groups, all claiming descent from a common ancestor or ancestors. At the head of a clan is its Chieftain, (typically) the most senior male in that clan's bloodline. Chieftain is a hereditary position with a degree of prestige, but chieftains don't hold much political power outside their clans unless their clan is particularly powerful. Mostly, chieftains handle small-scale disputes within their clans, fulfill ceremonial roles (alongside other clan elders), and represent their clans to those higher up on the hierarchical ladder.
Groups of clans mostly live together in a particular area, intermarrying and cooperating, and are, as such, further grouped together into what are called tribes, which are the most basic administrative divisions in Siruna. Tribes are led and managed by a Chief, who is the chieftain of one of the clans that make up the tribe. The Chief usually belongs to the clan with the highest "prestige", but which clan this is for any given tribe is mostly a matter of tradition. The ruling clan of a tribe does not typically change, but intra-tribe conflicts can cause dynamics to shift. The ultimate authority on which clans serve as Chiefs is the monarch, in their capacity as a prophet of the gods, so loyalty to the monarch is paramount to Chiefs to remain in power.
Most of the day-to-day governance in Siruna is done by the chiefs. They settle disputes, make trade agreements with each other, distribute resources, and muster armies. But above them is them are the royal Governors. Governor is another hereditary position, roughly equivalent to the rank of Duke in a Western aristocracy. They manage large swaths of land on behalf of the monarch and work closely with them. The particular clans serving as governors is the most variable of all the titles in the hierarchy. The monarch is free to mix and match and swap them out as they see fit, and so it is only the most loyal and powerful clans that have the honor. And many royal family members, including Keroesa's aunt Princess Ilana, marry into these families.
And, at the very top, is the royal dynasty itself which, in the Kingdom of Merim, is the Royal Clan of Kalona. Like all clans, it claims descent from a particular ancestor, but in the case of the royal clans, this ancestor is the legendary founder hero of Siruna, Alamesu. Of the eleven kingdoms, Merim is the only remaining kingdom to be ruled by a direct descendant of this clan. The others have since fallen to junior branches or "lesser" allies. However, having this ancestral claim is not enough to hold onto power for centuries. In the end, the power of the monarch is vested in the loyalty of the clans that make up Merim. If that loyalty is lost, disaster awaits.

WTW FEAST OF FRIGHT - DAY #16: JACK O' LANTERN : write a 250-500 word character study for your protagonist
KNIGHTS ; files from the holy grail ↳ #04. gareth — violet laurent clemonte
Violet Laurent thinks her mother married well. The Clemontes are welcoming, and it helps that her mother’s reputation as a supermodel proceeds her. Everyone knew of Fleur Laurent’s share of lovers with no strings attached, so the news of the french fashion model’s marriage comes as a surprise. Her birth father had wrestled for rights to claim her, but Reginald Clemonte’s influence precedes all, and Violet had gratefully accepted the name change, after all, the Clemonte name comes with many, many benefits. Plus, the name ‘Violet Clemonte’ rolls off the tongue so perfectly it is hard to refuse. She discovers the drawbacks of the Clemonte name when she is sixteen. It is the fourteenth anniversary of her mother’s death, and also her younger sister Colette’s fourteenth birthday. Violet knows she shouldn’t, but she still harbours a slight grudge towards Colette, because her birth took away their mother.
She can’t recognise any aspect of Colette as her mother, the only thing tying them together is the signature Laurent blonde hair and the slightest twinge of a flowery accent on their tongues. The entrance hall of the Jacobean estate is filled with birthday decorations, streamers and ribbons hang from the ceiling and birthday presents fill the halls. Violet sees names she can't recognise and automatically assumes it's from all around high society, each family trying to out do each other. Archie, the family butler, ushers her out of the way as a group of delivery men make their way down the corridor to bring boxes after boxes into one of the lounge rooms in the East Wing. “Ms Violet, it’s best to stay out of the way when deliveries come through the manor,” he reminds her, eyes smiling kindly as he redirects her attention away from the gifts her younger sibling is showered with. Selena, the fresh twelve-year-old Father adopted recently, runs up to take her hand. “Do I get presents too?” She asks, eyes wide with wonder as she takes in the festivities. “Not today, Lena,” Violet replies, patting her affectionately on the head. At her words, the younger girl grips her tiger plush toy tighter and juts her lower lip out in a pout. “You girls look disappointed. It's your sister's birthday, at least pretend to care,” a deep honeyed voice comes from behind them. Violet turns around on her heels in surprise, nearly stumbling into Selena. When all she sees is a crisp ironed suit, she turns her gaze upwards and swallows nervously. Broker smiles, the polite expression getting under her skin and making her squirm in her spot. “Ah, more children, does he know when to stop?” He says to himself. Violet wonders if his tone is louder intentionally for her to hear. Then, he voices, “You’re Laurent’s daughter, aren’t you?” “It’s Clemonte, sir,” she replies firmly. Broker nods as if agreeing, saying, “Of course you are, like mother like daughter.” Then, Violet’s gaze drops to the wrapped gift in Broker’s arms labelled C. Clemonte. There are only specific times Broker visits the estate: to attend stuffy meetings with Father, or, she realises now, to celebrate the birthdays of biological Clemontes. Violet has never felt more like an outsider. She swallows bitterly, and grips Selena’s hand tighter. “I take after Father more,” she interjects, straightening her posture. “You surely are stubborn enough to be like him,” he comments. Broker tilts his head to the side as if to study her, and his smile widens. “Enjoy your sister’s birthday, Laurent.” Then, he sidesteps sharply and continues down the hall. Violet watches as a squealing Colette bounds up to Broker in her blue princess dress, gasping in delight as she accepts the gift and gives the man a tight hug. “Uncle, you're the best! Thank you!” She exclaims. Rare affection dawns on Broker’s face, and his voice is clear as day as he replies, “Anything for a Clemonte.”

Luke Myers has spent his entire life in Clover Falls. It’s the sort of small town where people don’t move in and people don’t move out and gossip is everyone’s life blood. Everyone’s life blood except for Luke’s. See, Luke is a private guy. His father was a staple of the community which meant Luke’s childhood was spent in a spotlight of sorts. Now that he’s an adult, he prides himself on never appearing in town gossip and keeping his personal life personal.
He runs the local diner and comes off as a grumpy jackass but the truth is, he loves the people in the city. Luke donates magazines anonymously once a month, opens the diner early on Tuesday’s to accommodate the EMT, and enjoys watching romcoms just as much as he likes watching hockey. His main goal in life is to just keep to himself.
It’s a shame that’s become a little...depressing instead of comforting. It’s a shame that he’s starting to get older and being the only employee at the diner is starting to wear on him. When was the last time he went camping? It doesn’t matter because Luke is sticking to his rules. He doesn’t date, he doesn’t invite gossip into his life, and he doesn’t entertain the thought of getting to know anyone who’s just passing through.
And that’s how he plans on keeping it.

Artwork in the middle by @tpiola-blog (found on DeviantArt)
Enya Arati: (etym. Irish: Eithne (fire), Hindi: Arati, the fire ritual)
The half-dragon, half-human Enya Arati is the protagonist of my story. She is the only survivor of the massacre of her family and fled from her hometown Trevena when she turned 18. Due to her strong-willed and resilient personality, she learned to fight back and take her place in the world. Most beings she meets think of her as antisocial, but she is kind towards fellow outcasts. In her daydreams, she seeks revenge by setting her hometown on fire to punish those who murdered her parents. She’s also the antagonist of her own story.
