Five Nights at Freddy's (Movie Review, Part 2)
So, let's continue with my FNaF Movie Review. If you want to see Part 1, the link is below:
Five Nights at Freddy's (Movie Review, Part 1)
I had to make two separate parts because of crossing the image limit I was allowed on Tumblr. Part 1 contains a non-spoiler review, as well as a spoiler review of the characters and story with a warning for those who haven't seen the movie. Part 2 covers the finale of the movie, as well as the main villain.
MOVIE SPOILERS!!!!
Now, let's get to our main attraction!
Ahhh, William Afton... Seriously, whenever the animatronics weren't stealing the show, this guy would take the spotlight in every scene he was in. I was legit looking forward to his character in the movie, and he never disappointed.
He appears as an unassuming career counselor, Steve Raglan (missed opportunity there to call him Dave Miller), who gives Mike a job after learning that he is the older brother of the kid he had murdered, even saying how the owner ''was too sentimental to let go of the pizza place''. Yeah, when I heard that, I knew immediately he was talking about himself.
During the movie, we learn that William has somehow influenced the Ghost Children to trust him and hunt down Abby to make her his next victim, with the climax having Chica almost stuffing Abby into a springlock suit and Foxy hunting her down (this is both a The Silver Eyes and Into The Pit reference!), while Mike deals with all of them (and gets his leg damaged by Carl the Cupcake).
I will admit, I almost screamed when I saw Spring Bonnie approaching Mike, and the latter's futile attempts to fight him off.
William as Spring Bonnie is legit the creepiest and most awesome part of the whole movie, and I absolutely love how he chews the scenery as he confronts Mike, telling him he was behind the murders and how he will kill Mike as well, as well as siccing the animatronics on him.
Oh, and I love the Ghostface reference here, gotta allude to Scream given the actor's career. X3
I know I shouldn't be fangirling over the main villain of the story, but COM'N!, this guy is stealing the show and he enjoys what he's doing.
As the movie reaches its climax, William confronts Vanessa, while Mike realizes that he can turn the Animatronics against William and asks Abby to help him. What does she do?
She makes a drawing that shows the truth (something that happened in The Fourth Closet). Also, just look at the gaze Abby gives to William. It screams: ''Now you're dead.''
And William knows this. There is genuine fear and shock in his eyes, especially when the realization hits and the Animatronics surround him.
They are pissed, and you'd think that William would turn into a sniveling coward and beg for mercy as they move to kill him. Yet, that doesn't happen.
Instead, he remains defiant, delivering an epic rant to the Animatronics:
"Look at you… Look at the nasty things that you have become! Look at how small you are! How worthless you are! You are wretched, rotten little beasts! I made you!"
This prompts Chica to unleash the Cupcake, who takes the bite out of the suit and causes the springlocks to snap.
The iconic springlock failure we're all familiar with is not a fountain of blood with William quickly dying. Instead, it is slow and agonizing, and William is doing his best not to scream in pain, falling onto his knees as he is dying and quickly grabbing the Spring Bonnie head as he delivers his iconic line:
''I always come back!''
Now, this made me scream in excitement!
Not only is this William's iconic line, but it also has a deeper meaning behind it. He knows that he can return to life by having his soul possessing an animatronic, and he's taking full advantage of it.
While Mike, Abby and Vanessa book it out of the pizzeria as everything starts falling apart, the Animatronics grab the dying William and slowly drag him away, and it seems like the story of Freddy's is finally over... or is it?
We see William inside the Spring Bonnie suit, whimpering in agony as the Ghost Child that possessed Golden Freddy stares back at him, before closing the door on him, sealing the room shut, and honestly, I legit thought Hello Zepp from Saw was about to start to play during this scene.

Seriously, look at the scene and tell me you didn't think the same thing. Unfortunately, it doesn't, but the song that does play is more than appropriate!

YES, FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY'S BY THE LIVING TOMBSTONE IS IN THE MOVIE!!! LET'S GOOOOOOOO!!!
Overall, I LOVE this movie, and the very ending with Spring Bonnie...
...or shall we call him, Springtrap, makes for a solid base for a sequel.
If you want to hear my ideas for a FNaF sequel or just want to discuss the movie, leave a response or a question in the inbox. I have SO much to say about this.

Thanks for answering my ask....If you don't mind me asking (again), what are your top 10 (or top 7) favorite media (can be books/ manga/ anime/movies/tv series)? Why do you love them? Sorry if you've answered this question before.....
OKAY SO I MAY HAVE FORGOTTEN THIS WAS IN MY DRAFTS CUZ I WAS BUSY IN UNI AND THEN IT JUST GOT ERASED FROM MY MEMORY I AM SO FUCKING SORRY I DIDN'T MEAN TO LET IT STEW FOR SO LONG
1) Haikyuu!!
Honestly this is just a comfort show for me. No matter how many times i rewatch it, it's always like the first time, even if you know what's about to happen, you still cheer and clap and groan in every match. Just AGAIWBAIWBSKBDIS such a good anime, i bawled my eyes out when i finished the manga, honestly this will go down as one of my favorite anime ever (update: watched the movie, it's good but man i wish we had whole season)
2) Undertale/Deltarune
I cannot beat the weird kid allegations, toby fox has me by my (totally legit) balls. Istg toby fox drugs his games, or else idk how to explain how am i keep coming back to this (lies this franchise and story is just pure masterpiece)
3) Fnaf
Yeah definitely doesn't help the weird kid allegations. Well you know what they say, when you start getting into fnaf you sign off your life into eternal servitude. I would describe my relationship with Fnaf as - toxic ex i keep coming back to. Somehow 8 years of this bullshit and we're still going. Counting animatronic toes and reading yet another wtf is this book
4) Bungoe Stray Dogs
Sighhhhhh. The gayssssss. THE GAAAAAYSSS. But nah honestly it just has everything to get me on the board. The drama, mysteries, pretty WOMEN, silly characters, gut wrenching angst, and of course gay ass mfkas. The manga is better though. I don't consider this a masterpiece (not by a lOng shot) but it a good show to watch and talk about, the characters are all fun and silly, cliche at times but nonetheless entertaining and the fan work is just CHEF'S KISS
5) Frieren: Beyond Journey's End
This is a relatively new one but GOD. DAMN. HOW DOES JUST MAKE THIS MASTERPIECE. IT'S SO GOOD. THE EMOTIONS THE PLOT THE CHARACTERS. HOW DOES ONE EXECUTE EVERYTHING SO PERFECTLY AND JUST LEAVES YOU CRYING AND SOBBING MESS BUT IN A GOOD WAY. Genuinely consider this one of the modern classics that will be talked about in years to come. Exploring the how would an immortal perceives time, is not something everyone (or anyone) really explores in fantasy stories but damn frieren absolutely slays with it. Not cherishing the people she was with only to realize how much they meant to her when it was too late, and they're already gone, is just so. UGH. AND THEN SHE SLOWLY LEARNS TO CHANGE AND APPRECIATE THE WORLD AND PEOPLE AROUND HER WHILE GOING THROUGH THE OLD MEMORIES IAISBSJSBSNSNKS. anyway. I do recommend frieren (they better announce that second season)
6) The Apothecary diaries
Also one of the recent ones. What can i say when we get an imperial china not china setting, with inner palace politics, hierarchies and murder mysteries, packed with probably the greatest female protagonist we had in how many years? How can not love it? Maomao my personal spiritual animal. She is just such a compelling character and breath of fresh air in anime community cuz god knows we need more of em. She just feels so real compare to what we usually, she is just one or the girls and that is beautiful. There are of course others aspects of this show that i like but honestly she is probably the main reason this show is just UGH so good
7) Stanley Parable
Okay, this is a bit of an odd one, but hear me out. This game is so GOOOOD. I remember playing way back when, and it was just so different than anything else that was coming out at the time. The meta narrative of this game was truly amazing, the amount options we had and so many interesting dialogs, the THINGS TO EXPLOREE. I also just loved the narrator, he is so goddamn funny, the banter with Henry (even though it's one sided) is still great
These are the ones i can think of, honestly, there are probably others but i cannot remember them rn

I don't think it's a bad interpretation through that lens. Might not be what the creator was going for but this is more about the reason it caught fire. If it were more top-down, like it was an adult-intended thriller movie franchise that kids later treated as a rite of passage I'd be more inclined to agree. But since FNAF was one of the first real big things I noticed Gen Z making a big deal of organically, feels like there might be a better argument couched in a concept you might see people already applying to media in the 70s/80s.
This is naturally going to be a very Western/American take, but to me it feels like more of a response to how childish pop culture has gotten. A generation that fears they'll never really get to grow up. When I was a Milennial kid in the 90s, places like Freddy Fazbear's had their heyday. Chuck-E-Cheez was a hot chain and kinda cool to get to go to. There was a lot of investment in child-specific spaces but the culture around parenting still was geared towards pushing kids to "grow up." Same generation of parents that created the ESRB ratings were the ones heckling elementary schoolers for still liking Pokemon. Trending overprotective, but with a chip on their shoulder about it. And kids that were better than parents at getting into legit scary problems via unfettered "Wild West" Internet.
We're over 30 years from that, and the pendulum has swung the other way. Gen Z sees the next group up slowing down on "adult" milestones, trends all point to that being harder for them. Meanwhile they're dealing with a world where all that cool stuff made for kids is in decline, parents are scared off because of a story they heard somewhere, and what would have been considered obsessively overprotective in the 90s is the norm today. Not to mention parents know how to use a computer too. Things have progressed in some ways, though I doubt a huge focus on trans issues is helping given that community has its own longstanding problems with arrested development, but all in all I wouldn't fault any Gen Z teen today for seeing childhood as stifling and wondering when that feeling is supposed to end.
Sorry if I got too real there and this was supposed to be a goof. I did just crush an entire blunt by myself. But personally that makes a little more sense to me. The sick, but undisputable appeal of a horror story built on the idea of lives cruelly snuffed out too soon haunting a decaying husk of a children's paradise reflects a generation that feels shackled by a society that's left them behind while making a big show about how they're protecting kids.
If horror is a reflection of our fears as a society, is mascot horror our societies fears of cooperations and the fear of businessmen/corrupt businesses as a whole so it manifests as fearing corrupt businesses would do anything for a product including making deadly mascots for a bottom line?
Essentially. Is fnaf and poppy playtime a response to late stage capitalism. Discuss.
