I mean, would the GIW be aware of halfas, or are they thinking it's just a type of ghost that can mimic a mostly human form? [Also the weaponized incompetence actually makes a lot of sense] I don't think they'd be aware of Dan being an alternate timeline fusion though, because logically like, how would they learn that? I don't think anyone in the know would tell anyone, and like, it's Dan's secret to tell if that makes sense?

And yeah, everything went to shit real fast. Jordan had to make a split decision of rescue Vlad or get the kids out of there, and with Jazz being so hurt that she is actively dying... He made the decision to scoop them all up and flee.

Vlad wouldn't even be able to be caught if not for the GIW attacking when they did. He's started his redemption arc, he'd just made semi-peace with the Fentons his friends who he missed dearly even as he rotted in rage and loneliness who are now... gone. No chance to form a ghost just... obliterated. Torn apart molecule by molecule and corpses near unrecognizable.

That? That nearly breaks him. The only thing that stops him from shattering- metaphorically and perhaps slightly literally- is the knowledge that the kids escaped, which means they're somewhere out there alive.

Then like you said, there's the panic of A: massive fucking dragon flying through the skies, B: time travellers' panic over world ending threat existing in this timeline somehow, and C: the panic when someone gets close enough to realize this massive creature has young with it.

Not to mention the pressure on the heroes to either take it down, or thanks to the biologists and cryptozoologists making a fuss, move it away from people so it can be studied because again, giant fucking dragon.

They don't know exactly what they can and should do- besides stop some supervillians from shooting at it and- okay that person just got nearly melted by dragon fire, what did they expect-

And Dan? He's panicked, he's emotionally wrought, he's partially shut down because otherwise he's going to go into a rage. The only thing stopping him? The fact that the kids HisFlightHisFraidHisHISHIS are alive and Right in front of him.

He'll have to land eventually- curse being partly alive and human again for making him need rest and food and water- but like Hell is he going to do it anywhere near where the GIW can get them easily. He's not- he's not going to let it happen again-

He can't lose them, or he'll break. And this time there won't be a squirt to drag him from over the edge kicking and snarling.

Prompt 300

Danny squirms and hisses, trying to dig his claws into dark scales as the clouds whistle by. “Wait- Ancients dammit- STOP!” he shrieked, cursing how tiny his own ghost form was compared to his other not-quite-future-self. Wings that could easily dwarf the entire Ops center beat through the air, fast enough to cause his eyes to sting. 

“Dan- bring me back- stop-” he wailed, despite the grip on his scruff not even loosening. Yet the larger dragon didn’t so much as twitch back towards Amity, the city disappearing into the distance like a speck. “We have to go back-” 

The GIW were- were- They had to go back! The portal was gone (exploded, broken and all of Fentonworks a smoldering mess, oh Ancients he’s gonna be sick-), no one could return to the Realms, they were all sitting ducks- 

“Jordan please-” he begged, even though he already knew that between the city, between every other ghost and them, Dan would always choose to keep them safe. But Jazz was hurt, she wasn’t waking up from where she lay limply cradled in Dan’s claws. 

There was so much blood, and he only knew she was still alive from the weak fluttering of her core, growing stronger as her heartbeat faded. She needed help, she needed doctors- he doesn’t know if she would be able to come back, not with how they were leaving the ecto-rich city behind and he didn’t want to lose her- Dan’s blank panic was swamping his own, drowning both of them in the emotion as the dragon tore through the sky. Some part of him knew they couldn’t stay in Amity anymore, but- But Jazz needed help- Danny couldn’t help the tears that dripped from his yes, pretending it was merely the clouds as they flew to places unknown to him.
