Just a Ventrue thought, but which one is your Ventrue? The scepter, or the sword?
Of course, the Blue Bloods are what they are; nobles at heart. The sceptre is a traditional symbol of royalty, of supreme authority. The sceptre is all things grand and noble, a representation of becoming a Ventrue as how kings and queens are crowned with this in their hands. (Diplomacy and dignity)
On the other hand, the sword represents control and authority, a steel blade that reminds others that this noble Cainite wields the power that they have over others through fear or the promise of protection. The sword is strength and courage—two things that make a leader what they are. (Strength and duty)
